Clayton Tune Talks Preseason, Cardinals QB Battle + Special Cameo At End

second training camp you know starting to get under your belt a little bit how would you summarize how it's been so far it's been good I feel really good um better compared to this time last year um so I'm just excited to get into preseason and then onto the regular season there been any surprises like anything that you didn't pick up last year that even now you're like whoa that's that's something different um I mean yeah there's always new things dayto day um obviously new players um the nice thing is it's the same coaches same scheme so there's some familiarity with that but um I feel good you know feel like for the most part it's it's pretty smooth we we know about how Kyler's not going to be playing in the preseason which gives you and Dez a lot of opportunities probably more than you otherwise would have had how excited and eager are you to get back out there in a game setting this time very you know I'm very excited to get out there and you know stopped going against my own team for once and um you know go against someone else which would be fun but you know excited to go out there and put the uniform on and and do it in a live official setting truthfully how much of a difference doesn't make to go against a different type of opponent obviously it's an NFL defense but as a quarterback when you're scanning the field how much different is that really um I mean it's obviously you know schemes are different so you know we're not trying to game plan our defense we're not drawing up plays to beat them we're just doing our base stuff but um I would say that's the difference is like when you're going against another team you're scheming them up and you you know have plays to attack you know their defense so um you know I think it's it's it's good to practice against our guys every day because they're obviously really good players and a good scheme but it's going to be a breath of fresh air to go against someone new it's no secret that there's a battle for that qb2 slot between you and Desmond how would you assess how that competition is going between you guys we know you guys are friends too yeah no it's going well I feel good about where I'm at I feel like I've put in a you know a good body of work and um you know there's still work to be done as there you know is in any case you know for as long as I'm playing there's work to be done so um feel good just need to continue to to get better and make strides and um put myself in a good position what was the number one thing a last question for me at least what was the number one thing that you uh that the coaching staff told you during the offseason that you were able to kind of add to your game or change a little bit um just work on just playing on time you know it's obviously a different game going from college to the NFL you know you're not going to see guys open nearly as much um you're going to have to throw Guys open you're going to have to anticipate Windows um so I feel like something that I was um you know I took to heart in the offseason I've been working on this Camp then bouncing off of that you're heading to your second season how much more comfortable do you feel now heading into this training camp compared to last one I feel way more comfortable you know I feel like excuse me um you I just feel like there's obviously familiarity with the coaches and the players uh year two in the system um so I feel much more comfortable and and much more in control right yeah you don't really appear to be that wide-eyed day three pick that you were last year you feel more confident when you step on on the field now that you already pointed out you know the system you know to play call how much easier does that make your job uh makes it a lot easier um you know just going out there and like you said knowing what to do not having to you know not really have to worry about you know outside things and and other factors really can just focus in on what I need to do and and going out and executing and then you were able to get that one start against Cleveland last year um regardless of the result it was still really good experience for you to put underneath your belt um how's that helped you like did you watch a lot of that film over the offseason like what what did you take from that game that you could put forward to this year um it's helped me a lot I feel like um you know I honestly came out of that game more confident just because you know I went in there and um obviously didn't go as planned but um you know I feel like I learned a lot and I feel like you know I can operate smoothly um be able to make things happen make plays um so just just operating and and getting in and out of the Huddle and putting the ball in play I feel like you know much more confident in myself what are your thoughts on James Conor he's a great guy great guy great great guy great guy
