for their home opener in the 2024 season as they take on Tennessee Tech in non-conference play helping me break it all down preview it predicted everything in between my good friend Cole Thompson he joins me once again Cole what's going on man I appreciate you taking the time you know we do the live shows after all the Big Time games we talked about Clemson versus Georgia one of our most watched shows um I think we're just going to do a preview after every single Georgia game because why not you know it's going to be breakdown of Oblivion and let's be real we're we know who's going to win this game I think the question is who are going to be the stars that we're talking about post game on Sunday morning yeah we we'll spare The Dramatics it's certainly a name your score game for the dogs uh again a 2m Eastern kickoff on SEC network Plus in Athens Georgia at Sanford Stadium uh there is no line on this game Cole if that tells you anything because it is an FCS matchup and we could not find a line anywhere because I'm sure Sports books say what is the point in putting a line on this game yeah it's a lot it's a lot uh Series history these teams have met before Georgia leads at 20 last meeting came all the way back in 2009 when Georgia won 38 to zero just a quick breakdown of the golden eagles they went three and seven a season ago 12 starters are back this year they are 0 and one lost 32-25 to Middle Tennessee State and I don't know how many Georgia fans watched our preview of Old Miss in Middle Tennessee State but if you did watch that one and you think about Cole what our score score predictions were for that game and you think about this team lost to that team well you can do the math on what that probably means uh they were a top 30 FCS defense in 2023 for All Conference players are back on the defensive side Bobby Wilder is in year one as the head coach there at Tennessee Tech and Jordan Potts back at quarterback after an up and down 2023 but Cole I am not going to sit here and try to convince anyone why this is even going to be a close game much less God forbid any upset opportunity uh this game is all about georgees we look at the matchup it's all about to me Cole you know how are the dogs is there any sort of emotional hangover I mean I when you have Kirby Smart in the sidelines in the locker room that's not really something I worry about but I mean coming off a huge win let's be honest it's not as easy to get fired up taking on a Tennessee Tech even if it is the home opener but this is really true truly a name your score game and I think for Kirby smartin Company he's probably going to look at this too as a let's empty the bench let's learn about our depth let's get some guys and like maybe maybe let's rest some guys they got banged up in week one and let's give some youngsters an opportunity to shine in this one yeah I don't think Michael Williams is going to be playing in this game and it's okay if he doesn't play in this game I think that you'd rather have him ready for Kentucky than have to worry about what he does against Tennessee Tech but there is a player that will be returning in this game and he may only see a handful of but I'm excited because I know what type of talent running backs have come through Athens but when you look at a player like Trevor etn I know that Montreal Johnson and you hear the way people talk about how he was the lead back down in Gainesville but honestly I have not seen a running back of this Talent since DeAndre Swift I honestly think that when you look at the way Nate Frasier played on Saturday with what you have in Branson Robinson with what you have in the depth if you have a talent like Trevor etn we're in that number one you're going to see I think a lot of reminiscence of what you saw back in the day with Sony Michelle and Nick chub that might be the one- twoo combination and to have this type of Run game there back in Athens Georgia at an elite level the way that it should be it's special in my opinion it's really special because of I remember growing up watching Georgia football and the thing that I always knew was yes they would always have good quarterback play but they had Stellar running backs that's what you get in Trevor etn and to see him be embraced in ath for the first time on their soil not Behind Enemy Lines in Jacksonville when you see these two go toe-to-toe with each other but him actually to now be at Samford be in a location that has these National Champion expectations he's the player I'm most excited to see and I'm spending a lot of time talking about him because of when you get a talent like this you feel so much more confident the fact that you get to see what a guy like Nate Frasier did and the blessing was that you did have the suspension for Trevor etn to kind of see what Nate Frasier can be against qualified teams that only is another wrench in the plan for any opponent that I think is trying to slow down Georgia it's more so just a wash R repeat they're ready they're built they can go toe-to-toe with anybody they're gonna rest some players you're gonna see a lot more backups playing this game Carson Beck is probably gonna pull a Jackson Dart and be out by the start of the third quarter you're not going to have to worry about it the depth of this team is going to be really well I just feel like that again this is one of those games where we won't learn a lot about Georgia but we're going to be excited to see what they can do I there are people who are excited looking at Old Miss and how they performed against Ferman that might be the way that you feel about this Georgia Squad moving into 2024 going into week three for your first SEC matchup certainly Cole just to Echo what you said I mean getting a look at Trevor etn is something I probably the most excited about in this game again we did not get to see him week one and to your point Nate Frasier made the most of his opportunity I mean 11 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown 7.5 yards per carry against a pretty darn good Clemson defensive front so he was really really good in that game you know you've also got cash Jones who only had one carry but one carry for 15 yards and a touchdown in the ball game so he was effective uh Branson Robinson who had seven carries for third or excuse me 12 yards in that game but getting Trevor etn back is the big story here I'm also curious to see do we see more from the tight ends zero catches combined from the tight ends which is just in that game one which is just really really surprising for a Georgia offense so Oscar Delp um Benjamin urasek I I especially urasc a guy that I heard a lot of good things about in the preseason those in the media those in the fan base yeah really excited about Benjamin URC and his game so I think you will see them get more involved but to your point Cole we're going to be seeing a lot of Gunner Stockton we're going to be seeing a lot of other guys that you know you're gonna find out about your depth in this ball game there there's no question I mean I I think this is one and I think Mike L Williams to your point they announced on Monday that he is week to week there is no point in playing him in this game there is no point in playing anybody in this game that is anything less than 100% so I you know to the point again Cole I think Georgia will attack this game the right way I think they'll approach it the right way and I'm excited just to see them FX their muscles and get the talent out there like I said I I I want to see more of the use of the tight end position because I think those guys are just so freaking good um you know Malachi Starks after his big game against Clemson I I I would expect him again to be shut down and um poor Tennessee Tech that's really all you can say it's it's going to be a long afternoon for the golden eagles you don't mean to be disrespectful to Tennessee Tech you don't because of again you're playing a game you're getting paid $500,000 if not more to march on in and basically be a tuneup before SEC play starts but for me what's so fun is that right now we're talking about Miss we're talking about Tennessee we we did previews for them you and I were both on the preview for that game Tennessee's offense looks phenomenal they just look night and day difference from last year and they feel confident and you feel that way about Miss with what they have at juice Wells and Kaden prorn and Trey Harris and guys that you haven't even really seen like Caleb Lee being involved and it's like yeah you saw dominance from Georgia and naturally we're giving Georgia the benefit of the doubt they look like the top team in college football but if you're a Georgia fan don't you also want to see what you got with those other guys don't you want to see what you got in benos sick don't you want to see what you have in Oscar Del what you have and probably Dylan Bell's not playing you know we're not sure what he did because he did leave the game early they said cramps but maybe you don't need to play him but an Arian Smith a London humph a Dominic LoveIt a Lawson lucky like you just want Kobe young you want to see these guys be involved and honestly you it kind of flex your muscles a little bit you went out to the transfer portal you brought in some guys you made some moves you felt confident the the direction of your team and also you didn't need to go out and get these guys but you went out you got them because you wanted to like that's the thing about Georg and I've talked about it all offseason in my videos it's like they're at the blackjack table and they hit 21 and they hit 21 and the dealer bust and that's a recruit that's coming on in and that's a kid that flipped at the last second and goes to commits to George Hub and you ask in a transfer that probably would be a number one receiver elsewhere and you just want to flex those muscles like honestly but Texas did to Colorado state whatz did to Ferman what Tennessee did to Chattanooga you want to be in that conversation because you're talented enough to be in that conversation and ultimately I think that's a big reason why we are going to see a game to talk about from Georg him and a lot of it's going to be their depth and we're gonna I think be able to kind of separate ourselves and once again we've already agreed we think that George is the best team in college football and for my money you're going to see why that they have the depth to where if you lose a player it's literally a factory assembly line of just washer repeat yeah Georgia runs college football in my opinion Cole until we said otherwise that that being said let's no longer delay the inevitable we'll dive into our predictions for this game uh Cole I'll start this time I mean I it's a namee score game for Georgia I mean I could see this being 42 to nothing 40 to nothing maybe maybe 38 I don't know whatever it might be I do think you'll see at halim right at halftime that's what I meant you could see it being 42 nothing at halftime um that being said I'll lock in I'll go Georgia 56 Tennessee Tech three I maybe I'm being conservative there I still feel like that is just you know again it is truly name your score Gunner Stockton is going to get a lot of action in the second half of this game Georgia fans are going to be able to kick their feet up and it's going to serve as a nice tuneup and a confidence boost and um before the dogs get ready to go to Kentucky for SEC play and so again a lot of different faces will make contributions both offensively defensively these are the games you love as a head coach when you have a football team that is good enough to get out to a huge lead and again empty the bench because Cole again you're gonna need that depth when you get in a conference play and what a luxury it is that Georgia is going to be able to similar to what Old Miss did against Ferman play the backups essentially probably the entire second half so I've got Georgia 56 Tennessee Tech three in this one but it's a name your score game for the dog so I think that right now there's a quarterback by the name of Carson Beck that is here in the way that I talk about Dart NATO my my my my Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Jackson Dart he wants to pad those stats and he just said and he just tied Joe burrow for the most passing yards in a half 350 and five total touchdowns in the first half not to mention you got a six and there's going to be Beck that's saying you know what let's go ahead and lock in a couple stats here I think Ball's out I think it's 45 nothing at half I think you're going to see 175 yard game from one of the receivers bold call I'm gonna go with Kobe young for this one I think that he is the Difference Maker I think KJ Balden has a pick six I think that this is going to be a game where KJ Balden you saw what he did last week he felt confident playing as a freshman but they did rotate him in he didn't have as many ruts but you know what he's going to play a lot I think you get to see him play a little bit in the second half too with the backups just to get a few more reps underneath his belt before SEC play starts I think he has a pick six I think there's going to be a breakout player at linebacker that we are going to be talking about that we don't know just yet I think they're gonna have eight sacks in the game you want to play conservative you want you want to be nice you wanna you want to go ahead and show like oh you know what Tennessee Tech golden eagles I I'm at least respectful to you I'm not bloodbath Deliverance of all time 73 nothing final score I believe that you're going to see a performance that we're going to be talking about and just the stop it wait the you know Auburn did you see this Chris Auburn decided to have 10minute quarters in I was gonna say do we see a running clock we're gonna see a running clock short quarters okay we're gonna see a running clock I think that you have to because of at the same time Tennessee Tech is probably trying to play for FCS playoff they gotta rest some guys they don't need them getting killed 73 nothing 73 nothing it out I mean I've got I've got 56 to3 it could be 76 to3 though I mean who knows so guys what do you think Georgia Tennessee Tech the home opener
