Hello everybody welcome back to the racing statistics YouTube channel for today's Belgian gr pre um yeah uh I'm feeling better today so that's good I'm not dying as much as I was yesterday um I don't know why but I'm not asking questions I'm just you know taking full advantage of the situation um I don't feel like [ __ ] and my Bo is back so that's good um and yeah hit the like button for that hell yeah so today um we got the race yesterday we had qualifying it was a quite an interesting session I mean we have seen the Red Bull is absolutely insanely uh quick who do you think is going to win today unless something very weird happens I'm going to say but Sten hello Ryan let's tune in to the latest episode of how Ferrari is going to extend my depression hi jar how are you um yeah it's um Ferrari's in an interesting situation let's say uh yeah so it's um it's going to it's going to be interesting it's going to be interesting that one um but yeah but Sten and Red Bull are just in another league today it's uh the Gap the the pace yesterday was insane um after qualifying this is just a a personal thought so nothing to do with commentary but um as we finished I was I was thinking well did Cho qualify in effectively P2 because he uh because he had the pace or was it because that Red Bull is just a missile a missile however you want to call it it's a it's way too quick for it was way too quick yesterday I mean Buren could put it on on P1 by like 6 410 of a second it was insane um yeah the Red Bull was just flying fly yesterday so uh I hope well not I hope but I I yeah I hope it's um it's a run in form and it's not just um just luck and and and an insanely quick car for jackob but let's let's wait and see uh other than that yeah I mean ller another yeah a good qualifying he's going to be starting in P1 and let's see if if if Serio can can make it last or if he's going to just screw it all up in turn one um we're going to have to see we're going to have to see in the meantime we got bapen starting in 10th place that's going to be fun to watch that's definitely going to be fun to watch he is really really quick around this around the circuit um and yeah those alpines even though they were looking quick as soon as um as soon as downforce became a factor as soon as actual lap times uh started to matter because the you know there was a little bit of grip their times just plummeted um they look like ex low down for setup so it's going to be it's going to be also also you know we're going to have to keep an eye out for him uh on the second sector and a little bit on the third sector as well to see how they how they cope with um with the low down for setup on the twisty and turny second sector of spa why they penalize the driver and not the team it depends they penalize either the driver or the team depending on the offense for example an unsafe release it's a fine for the team they cannot uh add time penalties to the team because that doesn't make any sense please start on mediums well uh talking about um Tire strategy it's going to be a uh a different one today I mean seen as we've had a lot of wet running there is a different uh Panorama let's say of of Tire strategies uh so it's a predicted two stop doesn't matter doesn't matter which uh compound combinations you decide to use it's probably going to be a two stop and a lot of drivers have a lot of new tires so everyone other than ller has at least three sets of new softs um at least everyone has one set of new mediums most have uh well yeah most I would say have two sets of new mediums um Alonso by the way oh Alvin sorry has uh four sets of of softs uh same as everyone in the in the bottom 10 of course and then uh we've got uh hard compound tires of which everyone has at least one sets other than um are those the Ricardo and tuna yeah so the the toor rosos have only one set of used hard Tire compound hard compound tires but everyone else at least has one set of of of new Hearts uh most of them have two so yeah it's a lot of uh a lot of variation but I reckon the most the strategy we're going to see the most is going to be either hard medium hard or hard medium soft or um medium hard medium for those who have the the opportunity to to to fit on two sets of um of medium tires we're going to have to see of course a safety card could put everything into question um but those are the strategies that I predict either those or starting with the mediums would make a lot more sense so mediums hards softs could also be a possibility um or first the tire sorry the tire compounds used on this weekend are going to be the C2 the C3 on the 4 so the middle three compounds are the ones chosen for this race weekend other than of course the wet weather compound hi yam Yamada how are you I'm I'm doing good I'm doing better than yesterday so that's that's good um so yeah now the starting grid okay we got uh Yuki tun starting in 20th Place alongside zanu who's got a penalty then it's Logan sergeant p18 for Williams next to Kevin magnusen who qualified 17th leaving has at the end of the season uh Nik hulkenberg also leaving has p16 alongside L stroll in 15th Place 14th was for bter Basu qualified next to Danel Ricardo in the tooro Roso p12 for pier gley in the back Alpine alongside Max veren who starting with a penalty here 10 Place great job due to a new power unit Alex Alvin who's going to be starting in P10 next to estan okon in the frontal pin P9 for him p8 for Fernando Alonso in Aston Martin next to Carlos s in Ferrari p7 for him P6 for George Russell in Mercedes alongside Oscar pastu who look to have a lot of pace until the end of qualifying yesterday P4 for Landon noris next to Lewis Hamilton P3 for the British driver next on and on the front row of course we've got Sergio Perez who had a brilliant qualifying session yesterday next to Charlotte in P1 so uh another pole position for lir that I I don't really think is going to turn into a win so let's just keep burying that record can we um it's it's so sad honestly but um yeah it's just better to accept it before it happens as to not be depressed when when the when the facts come good afternoon of course to you good to see you and hear you greetings John from the Netherlands hi John how are you are you uh good to have you here um almost well close to a home race this one uh it's it's not far from from zand board though is it uh I think it's it's it's the next race yeah the next race which is in almost a month but still it's the next race so hell yeah uh the sandboard circuit is beautiful I really really do like it it is um it's quickly become one of my favorites uh because it's the first circuit in a long long while that is not a street circuit have you noticed that um so I'm I'm all I'm all for that I'm definitely all for that and yeah also the turns the the the sweeps everything it's it's fantastic there and it's also the only Fone circuit that I've been to in my whole life my nose is surprisingly unstuffy today which is really good considering that I thought I was experiencing a cold well I am experiencing a cold uh but it seems to be much uh better than last time at least it's not as severe uh last time out I was really having a bad time I don't want to change it but um this time it feels like it's going to be not that bad okay so formation lap is well under way um yeah and the tire strategy see okay so I was right everyone other than science and Ricardo and Joe are going to be starting on the mediums science and Joe are going to be starting on the hearts and Ricardo on the softs it's a predicted two- stop strategy from mediums to hards to hards or from mediums to hards to mediums um a softs could also play a part in there seeing as teams have a lots of new sets of them if a safety car or something would arise or a red flag of course that would also be uh something that we can throw into play but other than that it is pretty much as I called it uh I have a good eye for strategies and that's something I I'm really proud of because I have developed that over a long period of time um hold on let me get the crafts in place here there we go it is right now at the track 20° so it's pretty chilly it's a nice temperature 21 actually uh Sunny 42° track temperature 50% humidity and just a little bit of wind from the south so yeah it is um it is really looking quite good when it comes to the weather it is completely sunny out there on the the track no signs of rain whatsoever at least as of now as um as um yeah formation lap is going into sector three lar is to turn 14 as yukitsu no that is just barely leaving the first sector through eight and into the left-hander of turn nine into the bus stop they come but yeah when it comes to race Bas uh the the Red Bulls today have an advantage over the rest of the field uh as I discussed previously um the the McLarens of course are the second quickest team by by a bit and then we've got Ferrari and Mercedes quite equally matched way further back we've got H best of the rest ahead barely of Alpine and daston Martin then it's a big ger Gap to Williams then to saber and then to Toro Roso at the back so we'll check out um what the drivers can do but that's as as predicted um race Pace goes so let's see the first drivers are already taking their grid spots on the on the grid of course uh we're looking atlon Norris lining up there on his fourth place uh with a helmet number number four that's Yuki tsunoda waiting before the bus stop shicane almost coming to a complete stop I am sure he will want to take that last chicane at a little bit of speed perhaps in order to you know not lose that much temperature of those tires uh that is Jo and you lining up himself we're on board now with Max ver stappen before the start of the Belgian G Prix at spa franos shamp my favorite Circuit of all time well yeah for Formula One at least uh it's a green flag and it's one 2 three four five red lights and we are racing for the Belgian Grand Prix it's a clean getaway from Charlie Clair who immediately takes first place and it's czecho battling it out with the Mercedes of L Hamilton round the inside goes the Mercedes of Hamilton he takes that position looks like it and it's one of the McLaren on the gravel slly making his way through that's Landon Oris losing some positions there Oscar pest is trying to get it back trying to make up that thir Place uh get up into third that Sergio Perez and L Hamilton still in front Hamilton managed to gain the position from the Red Bull but the Red Bull wants to come back down to chemel straight they are side by side as he tries to also get past the mlar the ah the Ferrari but he gets his door closed in front of him that is Hamilton keep keeping that position George Russell tries to get a few few places here and there he is right now behind P he had to go wide at the chicane of turn five uh yeah the McLaren of Landon ores was in the gravel he lost a ton of places back down to p7 as maxw stens already up in front of okon and is into 10th place he's made up uh just one play so far but it looks like he's going to be coming for that Williams uh extremely extremely shortly so it's a clean getaway from the whole pack pretty much other than well that Lon noris encounter with the gravel at turn one so it's lar Le from Hamilton peris P Russell signs Norris Alonso alvon andur stop and closing out the points that Hamilton start defensive aggressive I absolutely loved it was a fantastic attack around the outside into turn one that yeah turned into into a position gain there for the Britain who is an upturn of face and of performance that uh is it's fantastic to see as we're looking at oh going round the inside around the outside in the chicane there uh for Max and as he gains another place he's taking it slow he's taking it calculated and he is making some strides up ahead is Fernando alono for um oh L stroll trying to go around the inside turn one on one of the tooro rosos around the inside of stroll let's see there go going almost side by side into or Rouge yeah no um they they they didn't have the balls for that so that is Max Ren already out of position trying to make an overtake getting past Fernando Alonso Alonso has nothing to defend as oh that's the McLaren going really wide he's going to have to give that position back he does do so he gives the position back to Carlos s land on a drops back down to seventh place has Max ver Sten is looking to get past the McLaren so he's already pass all of the slow cars first stopping and now we are on to the Front Runners that top seven top eight actually um is the cars that are going to be actually hard to overtake Mike ver stens right now looking at a Seventh Place uh if he overtakes uh Landon Norris who had a I remind you a bad start going off onto the gravel into turn one barely managing to make it through um yeah it was he was lucky that he didn't uh compromise his run there well he did but not by much he could have been it could have been much worse could have screwed up his floor could have screwed up uh with his whole race if he had gone just a little bit further out um and had he started um you know losing positions a bit more intensely he only lost three places is still up in there uh he could still go for a good finishing position but also L Hamilton with a fantastic start for him uh P2 right now he is ahead of Sergio pz by a second and a half within the RS of charer looking to get to the lead of this race as they go into turn one once again um going on to Rion here at the bottom of the hill yeah that Mercedes is flying today as well the RS round the outside that's leis Hamilton taking the lead and he is now in front of ler leading this Grand Prix lewi Hamilton for Mercedes Benz Joo drops two places there um has he gone off not only dropped two places but it's dropped by a few seconds uh I wouldn't be surprised if he went off at the end of the camel straight into turn five now looking at Max ver Sten who holds the quickest lap of the race first Sten looking at um an improvement in in position that hasn't yet come in the last two laps first Sten is close to oh that's very slow for Z that is a slow moving saber he has gone down with I guess uh the track but um he I don't think he's got Drive show radio he's going to try and bring it back he said um as of now it's all downhill literally and metaphorically from here um it's all downhill until turn 15 and then it starts to go up slightly the track as they go on to turn 16 and 17 Jo going very slowly uh if he gets lapped by the field who's all going through um through the back straight right now they're going to have to to watch out but it does seem like he's going to be catching them he could go onto a runoff I don't know why he does not do that the team asked him to bring it back onto the garage but I just don't think that's going to happen as Hamilton leads the field going into turn eight yeah it's all super close in the in the top eight everyone is within the arrest of each other lir is the only one who would be in danger of losing the arest distance with the driver in front everyone else is extremely oh and Serio now has gone over a second so yeah lar cuts on that uh lead uh cuts on the Gap to the driver in in front uh ptis in turn extends it uh going over a second and right now dropping off charot clar but just barely over a second let's see Z is racing looks like Joe is racing again uh he didn't bring it back in okay to continue Z has been told okay he's almost a lap down now he is a minute and 10 seconds of Logan Sergent uh which is also a minute and a half of Ls Hamilton pretty much a minute 23 to be exact Hamilton who now holds the fastest lap of this race lap five out of 44 this one oh nice I get it I get now why Hamilton's leading uh 44 laps today of course so just a reminder sence um yeah Z's out of the race I mean he's not retired but he's out of the race so Joe so sence is the only driver on the hard compound tires and Ricardo is on the softs everyone else is on the mediums when is Joe back on track here yes looks like he never left I'm back like left left I don't want to get copyright stuck so I'm going to stop uh but let's look at a replay of the start yeah great start from Lis Hamilton going around the inside of turn one um why was yeah okay so Norris just went wide on his own accord there onto the gravel no one had pushed him um immediately Cho goes extremely defensive but it's not enough because H to start was just so good Jo is also on Hearts yeah I know but it's not in the race anymore Let's uh see about the times here about the gaps um not much going on at the moment right now so looking still at the replay of turn one all through turn six uh turn one lap one I meant to say but yeah the gaps are starting to widen a little bit Hamil just go at 1.2 second buffer to ller and a 1.3 to ptis behind by ller then basri is within half a second of him a t of a second to Russell then it's half a second to SS a t to Norris half a second to peren and then 2.4 to Alonso yeah so Z keeps losing time though something is moving down by my legs Hamilton says o that could not be that's not good you never want that because something could get loded behind one of the pedals and that could be you know uh a big problem for for a driver who has to use the pedals so I don't know how he's going to manage that one Jo will bring a safety guard yeah it's about to get laed I don't know if is coming in yeah so he's coming in I wouldn't be surprised if he retires from this race now so Jo is in the pits Hydraulics problem most likely to retire so our first dnf yeah that's it for Jo's race um bapen now still six t of a second behind Norris Joe said he has no breaks it's hydraulics bit harsh crash 1,800 seconds how much time is that is it like a week so lap seven of 44 literally nothing going on for me to comment on so um yeah driv driving but Sten has got more Pace but he cannot get through um Norris is still in p7 science has got the hearts um and we are lap seven uh so let's talk about the the stops uh so predicted uh pit window is around lap 10 to 15 so we still have a ways to go not that much but uh we still have a little bit to go yeah uh Joe is officially retired doors closed shut for the p8 man I reckon is going to under or overcut the drivers as we get our first pitter in Nik hulkenberg new sets of hearts for Nico he was on the mediums of course a bit before the window uh the window is from Lab as I said 10 to 15 this is a bit earlier but still I reckon the undercut could um play a good part if those hearts decide to last yeah people are saying alono try but it's not really an Alonso train alvan is 1.2 behind and Gaz is one and a half behind Doon uh Magnus is 2 seconds behind stroll so it's just a the the normal split of the pack so how's the weather uh it's cold kind of Sunny yeah 11° not a lot of humidity luckily it's like 50% humidity quite low 55 actually the other day we had a the day I got sick was a day of 100% humidity uh it's it was it was not good the walls were wet literally the walls were wet it was insane then it rained which was good temperature went down humidity went down sun came out it was also over casty that day that's why it was um so humid but yeah um Alvin and Ricardo and Sergeant have all made their stops I suppose they all going to fit in a hard compound tires yep that's the Williams of ALB with the white W hard the white W C2 P plan a or Plan B what do you think I think a okay so everything running according to plan for um for for the for the McLaren team yeah around 22 seconds is the time loss here in between stops I I think Max St and still running in eighth place as of now and to blow my no again oh so everyone fit mediums it's says here on the graph even though I thought I saw hearts at least for hulkenberg yeah okay so Hulen is on the hearts and I thought I saw I saw hearts on everyone who just stopped uh the graphs are saying medium let me check that for myself uh hold on oh Hamilton radio there is still okay rears are definitely dropping um let's go Bo with the the to Ros yeah okay so he's on the mediums Gastly has come into the pits uh let's go on to Alon yeah okay so it is on the mediums okay so Gastly um also just came in um switch stream data Channel there we go so yeah let's look at Gastly he fitted a new set of Hearts um the lap 10 of 44 this is the pit window open for the medium compound Tire runners as wenberg makes up a place by overtaking Gastly who just made his stop soan Ricardo hul mgan Sergeant the only drivers to have stopped so far this race so know that didn't pit it was Ricardo no they both pit uh didn't he oh no it was sorry both of the Williams not both of the to roses my bad my bad yes uh so tun hasn't yet made his stop he just last bapen into the pit he's going to try the undercut bapen is going to try the undercut uh so is Russell Russell also came in hard for him hearts for Russell as well is uh oh is Russell going to stop up going to slow down Max verstappen to defend for his team that's going to be interesting that could be something that uh we see happening here as bur Sten exits right in between uh Russell and albon let's see if Russell decides to make up some places or defend for his teammate as he gets past Yuki tunod into turn five Red Bull on Hearts uh yes Red Bull on Hearts we're looking at a replay of an overtake uh Nik hulkenberg there yes the overt round the outside on turn five was that yes that was turn five to get past the Gastly gle's red car it's weird to see a red car uh my first thought is is not Ferrari because it's not red enough box box Hamilton's coming in as Ooh heavily impeded heavily impeded there um p is also coming in yeah B sten's [ __ ] per Sten is [ __ ] that's going around the inside George Russell as Yuki tsunoda has impeded uh Max Roa and all through that second sector and third sector as well he's not even through he managed to get through now uh but that has royally screwed um with uh with that Red Bull space yeah he made up I think zero positions yeah not only he made up zero positions but he actually lost a few I think uh that's uh oh that's Oscar P trying to get past Russell wheel to wheel into turn five as basri gets ahead around the inside and is up into P9 lir is coming in at the end of this lap so lar SS and noris are the only drivers from the top eight who have not yet stopped but stappen just got past magnusen yeah not a good look for Red Bull there as everyone is stuck now behind Alonzo oh behind stroll actually damn that's even worse that could be good for Norris SS and leair though if we getting undercut let's go long okay so he's got good pace and stroll oh my God stroll is is screwing up with Sergio Perez's and Oscar pastri race and George Russell as well and Max ver stpp in too so Stoll is a driver of the day so far he's not getting past um ptis is not getting past draw here my God this this is embarrassing oh my he cannot get passed into the final corner and he comes in okay so he comes in troll decided to come in if he hadn't come in that would have been insane uh everyone else goes through let's see sence and Norris are still going lir came in there in the end uh he came out ahead of Sergio pis so he's still technically in front uh he's still technically P2 yes oh no he's actually yeah he's actually P2 now uh Hamilton P1 as pis drops another place pastri gets up that third place on that final step of the podium pestry up into sixth place ahead of copes right behind Hamilton and ller everyone else well science and Norris actually are a big question mark right now if s and Norris have good Pace I would advise for them to stay out then nor is pit yet no he hasn't o super close between Hamilton and uh and of pastri let's look at a replay of Max overtake and Yuki yeah that was that was not good I reckon he lost around the second and a half um stuck behind Yoki tsunoda or two seconds Alonzo has come in yeah so two seconds was a was a lot so it looks like the hard compound tire is a tire to be on um from what we've seen so far and going back to the graphs that is bad news for H Alonso it is bad news for Pettis and it is bad news Alvin and better stoping as well who only have one set of hard compound tires left from the top 10 uh the others all have uh two and yeah those that I just said have two sets of mediums so um expect aono pis and bapen to be a little bit scude when it comes to strategy and Alvin and Alvin as well norres radio 100% Pace it's 50% 50% and 100% to remember the name I'm too musical today I'm sorry um 14 laps elapsed Alban undercut Alonso yes Alonzo uh Ricardo also under Alonso um both have but they on five laap old medium compound tire so in the end I reckon alono on that hard is going to have the upper hand so a few drivers have yet to stop that's magnusen that's to no uh sence and Norris everyone else has made their stops stroll on the radio straight light speed is a [ __ ] joke yeah that is true we look like amateurs uh Alvin getting overt overtaken Yuki and that I think is the alpines battling each other yes that is the alpines looks like Alfa Romeo but it's the alpines they really do look like Alfa Romeos with the white spoilers and the and the red cone oh yellow flag on the third sector green flag okay uh I don't know who was that perhaps Sergeant we have no idea who that was noris box box so science is staying out still oh he's started on the hearts yeah of course got a tire advantage over so uh Norris is wanting to push now um he is on much newer tires and let's see if he can um you know close the gap to Max stpp it in front ASA bur St and is looking to attack
