Lads battled well I think first half we were reasonably happy um second half we weren't we we were under pressure um especially at 1 nil um defended well for long periods conceded and again I thought the substitutions um made a difference I thought the lads coming on the pitch gave us a little bit more energy uh we're very grateful to win we know that our performance levels have to improve in order to sustain that but it's a great sign when you're winning and you're not a full till in your pre-match press conference you called for Unity do you think that was evident today and do you think it got you through to to get those three points yeah I mean the unity was there I mean the supporters were absolutely incredible again I mean the support for Sandro first and foremost that was emotional um and then just the way they handled the game because been very easy to have a different atmosphere um but it was one of support for the players enabled us to get back into the game and um that last I don't know 20 minutes I was I was really pleased with it was a great response from the players and the supporters together it's been a theme of the Season you finish in games well and you did so again today yeah we did um we've got a lot to work on I mean not um deluded we got a a lot to work on there I don't think we were particularly good with the ball today um don't think we defended particularly well think we're in to Nick who made some good saves there was some good defending in there at the same time some last Stitch defending crosses so there were some really good bits but generally I think we were too easy to open up today um they got in behind our structure um disappointingly from our perspective have to say I thought they played well but um it's a mass magnificent win for us with the substitutions at various points in the second half what was it that you were trying to achieve we're trying to wrestle momentum back into our play I mean I think we're one n up and the next goal is always going to be crucial think we had an opportunity to make it two when Alex went through um we we didn't take that and then they had a flurry of chances they scored but then it's a really big question mark on how we respond and that's why I have to complement the the attitude throughout the squad because we rolled our sleeves up we fought and we knew I think we were still in the game we still had moments where we could hurt them which we did in sporadic moments throughout the the um the game and it took another one of those really incisive moves from us with I forget who played the pass through to Jacob but um a brilliant reverse from him and Alex tday it was very unselfish from Jacob wasn't it consider he just come on and was clearly Keen to make an impression yeah I mean I think think that typifies murf's attitude he will always try and make the right decision for the team rather than himself um which is always what we're looking for players that can do that and yeah his decision I think epitomizes his attitude I thought it was a brilliant bit of play but it was the right decision and it left Alex with his first goal of the season so I'm delighted for him too and for Sandro you mentioned the reception that he got again today but what will all that mean to him as he sort of adapts to normality I guess for him yeah it will be it will give him long long lasting memories I think when you're playing for any football team you you're desperate as a player for that Affinity with your supporters you're desperate for a connection and sometimes you have a different journey to reach your destination and and Sand's here and he's had a a really tough beginning to Newcastle but I think it's been made all the more comfortable by how the the supporters have embraced him and today's moments and flags and every all the support he's received will Elevate him for sure and I thought he did well when he came on the pitch and there's no that that would have I'm sure made a difference to him and the win it gives you seven points now from the open of three games you're threw in the cup you must be really pleased with the start of the season so far in terms of the results yeah I mean look this is such a tough League we're in and um we don't take anything for granted so it's been a magnificent start and I think even more pleasing is the fact that we know we've got more growth in our performance levels you know if you're maxed out then um that's one way to win of course but you need to find different ways and I know we'll get better and we'll improve I've got no no worries on that side um we've got some work to do in the international Break um tough games to come as always but we're looking forward to it
