I switched to the Pixel 9 Pro from the iPhone 15 Pro!

I'm switching to the brand new Google pixel 9 Pro from the iPhone 15 Pro I'm about to give up my airpods the Apple watch Ultra but I'm so excited because this is the best pixel that Google has ever made and today is going to be an extensive test of it also we're switching from the iPhone specifically because this is the most popular switch more people switch from the iPhone to the pixel than the Samsung to the pixel might Le order a c Brew with a little bit of whole milk and then also an orange juice both for here so the pixel9 pro has Google pay which works in the same way that apple Works where it's contactless payment and both of them actually work in a limited capacity without internet which is clutch especially if you get rid of all of your credit cards and just use the wallet as your main form of interaction to pay for like coffee or the [Music] subway both the iPhone 15 Pro and the Google pixel lineup are known for their image quality specifically like the computational photography which is like processing it in post the pixel tends to go for a more like contrasty look and I also tend to think that it's a less flattering camera like I think I look prettier like better on the iPhone and I think that that's the same for a lot of people but sometimes people prefer like the pixel like grungy look let me know which one you like better I will say that we noticed when taking the sample photos the Google pixel was able to initiate portrait mode further away than the iPhone the iPhone didn't initiate it until we got much closer to me versus the Google pixel which does a lot of that processing and post my favorite way to start the day in New York is getting up very early and either go to a coffee shop right away to do some deep work or go running and this is one of my favorite run spot there are three that I love in the city so I'm going to show you the first one and it's pretty [Music] magical we're in direct sunlight right now and it feels like the iPhone 15 Pro is a lot more viewable than the pixel 9 Pro which is weird because the pixel9 pro technically has a higher Peak brightness it's 3,000 Peak brightness versus 2,000 on the 15 Pro but Peak brightness is just like the maximum brightness that it stays at in short spurts whereas for this it's like obviously staying on for a longer period of time and I I feel like it's just harder to see this display in comparison to the iPhone 15 Pro an interesting difference here is the zoom interface the iPhone zoom is a scroll this way whereas the pixel 9 Pros is in the opposite direction the iPhone feels a little bit more intuitive to me but I also think that if you're more used to this it's whatever you're used to will feel the most comfortable and then eventually your brain will adapt another thing that is different is the default so the pixel9 pros default is a 5x Zoom whereas in video for the iPhone it's a 3X zoom and then from there you can manually zoom into five and they both have really good zoom quality I still think that the iPhone has better color consistency I mentioned that in last year's switched video like when you're switching amongst the lenses it feels more fluid whereas on the pixel it feels like there's a little bit more of a jump but the actual camera quality is great and the pixel 9 pro has a really interesting Effect called video boost which if turned on will take the video files from this phone and actually process them on Google servers that seems really inefficient but it's very interesting and it actually works in the background most of the time so the thing that I would be aware of is your data plan so you don't burn through it or if you're in someone's personal hot spot you don't burn through their data but assuming that you have Wi-Fi and it's going through it will make the video performance better and I think it speaks to the fact that Google has so many interesting implementations that they can use to supercharge this phone so the servers but then also Google Drive Gmail Google keep and that relates to Gemini so the main two selling points I think of the pixel9 pro this year are the obvious Hardware differences they've changed it actually it's a lot more reminiscent of like an iPhone now I think it looks great it's the most polished pixel they've ever done I love it but the software is zero their main selling point because Google Gemini is one of the best AI models on the market and it's so heavily integrated into not only this phone but also all their other services [Music] like ad me is obviously a funny feature if you're doing it with yourself I remember doing that like 12 years ago with a third party app but now it's built into the phone and a lot better than those apps where but the real use case of it is if you're with someone and you want a group photo together but there's not a third party to take it that scenario feels quite Niche to me I feel like most of the time I just approach someone on the street and ask for help but it's a cool implementation of computational Photography the other ones that they also have here are super res zoom and zoom enhance both of which allow you to zoom in on a frame past what the harbor is actually able to do and it uses software to like fill in the pixels and make it look a little bit sharper and then there's also autof frame and Magic editor that can analyze and extend the frame what even is a photo at this point I don't know but I think some people will use this all the time and Elevate their photos or make their pictures look like how they wish the event was this is fi another one of my favorite parts of all of New York I feel like I'm your tour guide today and we're getting a really good day the weather is unbelievable and I can actually say that with evidence because the Google pixel has a weather application where it will integrate AI into giving you the analysis so it sets the temperature but then it also adds a little bit so for example in like a very sunny day and may be like hey take the sunscreen or if it's G to rain it may say grab an umbrella I think that's kind of cool outside of that I just love the design refresh it feels very on brand for Google and there's so many weather apps that I use that then get killed like dark sky for example loved that app but then it got Acquired and shut down so it feels like a safer bet to fall in love with the stock weather application it will be around for longer when you're recording selfie video I would love if there was a way to switch to the back facing camera without having to stop the recording and manually switching that's a feature that Samsung has and I just think it makes it so much easier to be on the go in the moment versus having to stop and restart a recording every single time another new feature that is pixel specific is esos so this is the first Android phone in the US to have it it's basically the ability for the phone to connect to a satellite when there's no cellular service and Apple has had this for a couple of years they really introduced the feature and made it mainstream and it saved countless people's lives because for example if someone gets stranded on a hike or after a car accident and they no longer have cellular service the phone can still connect to a satellite in order to get in touch with Emergency Services I think that's amazing the phone offers it for two years in the same way that the iPhone did and then after that it will probably be like a paid plan it's great it also has crash detection which iPhone introduced I don't really mind when companies copy features it goes both ways Apple copies a lot from Google as well if it helps a consumer at the end of the day I think it's a win with certain Generations like my generation I'm 22 gen Z it can be even higher like they' run a study recently that 90% of gen Z wouldn't consider switching so I feel like both ecosystems will benefit from different features getting added because a lot of people won't make the switch with the video they won't switch from the iPhone to the pixel if they did though they would get all the exciting AI features I think that there's so much that Google also did really well with the build quality this year the figure per sensor feels really fast the multiple sizing options are really nice and they're not limiting the bigger versus smaller options if you want like a smaller Flagship you'll still get all the same features it's a really compelling buy this year and I'm very interested to see if it
