Michael Rainey Jr. & LaToya Tonodeo Reflect on Power Book II: Ghost Season 4 Finale

man this this story finally is coming uh about say finally because I think I think the fans could have took like 10 more seasons of uh power power book goost but my first question to both of y'all like I mean to to be on this long journey on this series and see like this this universe now turned 10 years old and everything else when you think about the first time you are met each other Michael lato you on set to now like how have your relationship uh grown in that in that space oh my God like crazy we're so close and I said before on their podcast the first time I met Michael I was nervous of course it was our first scene together I think it was my very first scene ever filming that for this for power and there was something that I didn't like and I like whispered it to him and like he gave he just like reassured me and he was like no no you good D and it was like from there like that's been our relationship like I love Michael and it's going to be so sad I love I love you yes that's my Pro like for real n yeah for sure I need business eie please thank you oh it's yours you got to be kidding me Tariq what is the plan neie shut the up what you going to start a family Play House break some generational curses shut the up oh hey Diana I was just telling Tariq that you should consider an abortion because with you two as parents your baby's screwed if if I take it back you know I I interviewed um Michael some 11 years ago for for love and to see to see him now like the scene as as this new uh part of the season starts he's like in a dorm bed I'm like yo this kid is too big for this dorm bedroom right now but I remember when I seen him 11 years ago like that would that would have fit him but grown up on the screen now uh Michael like how's it how's it feel to have have had those early opportunities on screen and to see that it's really panned out for you to to to make this as a a career a career journey man um it's insane it's insane you know I've I learned so much at such a young age that I was able to you know kind of put it you know put it to obviously work like honestly I I was able to put everything I learned you know those few years I could still use it now you know I could apply it you know in my older life now that I'm getting older but you know just you know it's just the growth you know shout out to Sheldon canders for giving me that opportunity you know and love I actually just spoke to him the other day it was super dope to speak to him but um yeah it's just been crazy you know the the growth and the journey it's been it's been a crazy ride you know I've been in rooms with so many great people and I couldn't I couldn't be more thankful you know I couldn't have more gratitude for you know for the places I've been you know these few years years so we just going to keep it rolling keep it rolling I think for for both of y'all I mean y y definitely all screen as actors but in a way PowerBook ghost has been like like a fashion magazine too y almost like fashion models like y'all have the the best wardrobes out of anywhere on TV how has the the style of The Styling affected your personal style off the screen um you know from wearing all that fly like on the screen every episode man it definitely spoiled me it definitely spoiled me you know what I'm saying like you know even even to you know because I the movie that I just finished working on you know you know doing the fittings for that is completely different than you know doing the fittings for you know for power I'm like like damn we don't got no Alexander McQueen we got no Prada but um you know it just goes to show you know how like how different it is on our show I got to go analyze some stocks which should definitely be more fun in our show it's it's a staple for our show so you know it's just it's just huge and even in real life you know I kind of carry that with me in real life you know we be fly we putting that stuff on know I'm saying so it's just big part now L to you're tapping into some Eternal energy now on this part of the Season like uh how how is that acting acting that part out where you were you having to you know not not be as as much as the gangster to how family you got to be like gangster mommy like kind of like mon a little bit but before you know how's how's it transitioning into that part of your character um it's nice because I love being able to play a a fully layered character where I'm not just one note the whole time so to give me something else to tap into was definitely definitely fun and then I had to do like little research because you know and yeah it it was it was fun to play for sure last question I gota really ask about 50 Cent because I mean people give him credit but when you really look at how successful he's been as a producer I mean he's like he's like a brookheimer he's like you know uh he's he's producing so much content and you guys have been a part of that um how does it feel that just have had that opportunity from that whole team but you know uh we F to see how dnamic he is as a introducer um did y cat froze but I think yeah no it froze but I get the question um honestly just being part of you know 50s Legacy is crazy because like you say you know people give him the credit but I don't think he gets the credit that he deserves for what he you know what he's doing and what he's done you know what I'm saying he's he's done so much I I look at 50 as like a I look at 50 as like a you know he's in that League of like like like Tyler Perry you know like he's literally an owner of everything that he does you know what I'm saying and and there not one thing that he has his hands on that he's not you know that he doesn't have some you know some ownership in and even that you know he's just bringing so many people with him you know he just started the gun Studios he got his Network now that that's going to be showing on damn near every platform you know what I'm saying so he's really just setting the standard and he's you know he's just a great example of you know going from one business you know dominating one business to now dominating in in in another business you know what I'm saying so it's just a it's just an inspiration to see F50 just dominate you know in any field that he you know that he's stepping in so out to 50 man for being a great role model great inspiration books to go I hope I get to see my man Omari come back I a I'm not just not not a teaser because I don't know but I hope he I hope he appear back one day on on screen and I think y should do your own fashion line it should be like a power book ghost like just fashion line because y y got so so much fashion style man good luck to all of y'all can't
