of people look that that some say the 12 team playoff was designed for teams like Pinn State over the past decade uh because they would have been in a bunch of times if you use that model and go back week dude Fourth of July throws off the whole schedule did like I'm like wait a second you know if you get if you don't get Fourth of July on an actual Saturday or Sunday it throws off the entire pivotal year for one James Franklin would you say uh I never I never understand the hot seat or not situation with Franklin because if I'm talk if I talk to Penn State fans they're like Furious I feel like they wanted him out a couple years ago so I'm like oh so he's he's on the way out they're like no no he's fine well believe it or not this is his 11th season he's entering which I mean time flies I I would have guessed like six or seven or maybe eight or something but uh I I guess you understand there for a ation because he's had a very good run at Pinn State he has you know in half of his Seasons there they've won double digits that's pretty damn good yet he can't quite get over the top and like you alluded to in the intro that's why the 12 team playoff is so great for schools like Pinn State who have been damn good but not quite good enough to get to the four team playoff look last two years they've been 10 and two 10 and two regular seasons and the only teams they've lost to Michigan and Ohio State both years go to this year you're in the playoffs everybody's happy yeah Fair very fair uh and you're out of the Big 10 e he won't play Ohio State Michigan every year uh more than likely but uh folks we're going to talk more about James Franklin in a second I want to tell you you are listening to the college football experience part of the sports gambling podcast Network you look at at what he's done he's 112 and 54 in 13 Seasons now three of those were at Vanderbilt five double digit win Seasons all of those were at at Penn State uh and look they lose Manny Diaz to uh to Duke I know NY Nicks I don't know I think you're happy with that I don't know we'll see cautiously optimistic NC Nix is a Duke fan uh so there is that and then uh uh they lost what Mike yurich uh is gone he was their offensive he was fired last season like uh Midway through or three fours through the season um so they're bringing in new coordinators on both sides of the ball um but where you at with James Franklin man I know you touched on it saying and he's got him right there and now with the 12 team playoff maybe Pinn State fans can relax but I do find it hilarious they just extended him so but at the same time I do feel like it is a huge year for him if they don't imagine if they don't make the 12 team playoff Pinn State kind of does have [ __ ] you money where they could just be like hey all right we got to move on and and I will mention this it's funny doing that Nebraska preview that we both did go check out the Nebraska preview all of our other big 10 previews and and Mountain West and SEC previews are out go go listen to those um but kind of forgot about this angle uh I was looking at the chat uh you know or the comments after that uh that Nebraska preview and a Nebraska fan says I need Matt rule to be good but not too good because if he's too good he's gonna be Penn State's next coach because he played linebacker at Penn State and he was a ga at Penn State and he's got the background at Temple so he knows the state really well and I go that's a good point that's kind of hard to say like you would need a lot of dominoes to fall like first off you would need Franklin to not make the playoffs this year and maybe even next year I don't think he's fired if he doesn't make the playoffs this year do you maybe because when they extended him I know Penn State fans didn't want him extended like I I mean I shouldn't say every pen State fan but I know a lot of Pinn State fans do are not H have never been that happy with James Franklin yeah so that that puts it be careful what you wish for speaking of Nebraska you still give them [ __ ] for firing Bo Pini who was having 10- win Seasons oh and and even more so I Pini we bring up a little bit I say Frank solich is the one like whoa whoa right uh but yes Pini was one that look you cursing at the employees you don't fire him for that if you're winning games all right um I think we all think Franklin's a good head coach he I mean look he he had he had a good three run at vanderbelt and just look at his his win percentage and the amount of double- Digit win Seasons you can't say he has done a good job at Pinn State the question is is he the coach to get you over the top so far that answer has been no and that's why there is some frustration with the uh nney line faithful yeah and I think if you look at this big uh first off the uh the uh did I did I not load this up oh no there we go the uh the record against the Big 10 he's 10 and0 against Ruckers he's got that feather in his cap uh nine and one against the Indiana whoers and that one loss was the co year with pennx which was a questionable call wasn't it very questionable very questionable uh as he Dove for the the pylon uh with three and0 against Wisconsin 5-2 against Iowa seven- two against those Maryland terpin four- two against Illinois but three and0 against Purdue but then this is I'd say where where the cut off is because three and two against Northwestern that's little perplexing there uh two- one against the Minnesota Golden Gophers one and N against the Ohio State Buckeyes three and seven against Michigan and five- five against Michigan State what's going on here buddy like what's the one that stands out to you the most it's it's the Ohio State thing right I think it has to be but it actually it shows you where Pinn state is amongst the power rankings in Big 10 country because the Big 10 the bottom of the league is pretty bad and yes they've beat up on those teams one almost all of them or at least most of them but they should do that and his inability to beat Ohio State or Michigan at least the last couple years is is why is that's what we're talking about that's why we're where we're at yeah yeah um ten0 against ruers though got that you got that cap they play the first ever college football game all right uh uh let's talk a little bit about the the uh well first we mentioned bad losses for every program every any of the power schools these are the worst that I could find in that since 2000 obviously you have the group of five losses to Toledo and Houston and Ohio and UCF and and Temple uh that was at Temple and I think that was against met Rule now that I think about it um but uh then there I put a couple bad P P5 losses in the noncon because I'm not going to count a normal loss to Northwest or something as a horrible loss because you just play them so much uh but at Virginia come on that was with pno uh got swept with a home and Home in Boston College and then recently lost a bowl game to Kentucky I feel like Penn State should never lose to Kentucky am I crazy it's a bowl game though I mean who knows know who was playing who wasn't playing who was sitting who cared so I I think you should remove a bowl game and and Kentucky is still an SEC team so I I wouldn't choc it up as a bad loss you hear that NY lion fancy saying ky's on the same level as Penn State read between the [ __ ] lines all right uh yeah let's talk about this offense from a year ago though they were 12th in the nation in scoring per game 36.2 points per game first into Big 10 50 third in yards just about 400 yards per game second in the Big 10 77th in passing fifth in the Big 10 and 28 in 28th nationally in rushing that was first in the Big 10 man you read a lot of these numbers and you're sitting there saying like damn how the hell did this team uh not make the playoffs but then you realize it was a four team Invitational which was [ __ ] from the start but um the one thing I guess that stands out is those are all great numbers with the except of 77th in passing yeah exactly I mean the offense was was good last year uh I'll say it again though there was a lot of bad teams in the Big 10 and I think you know some some some big scoring outputs like 42 nothing versus Michigan State you know I think that kind of doesn't show the complete picture because what it mattered they scored 12 points against Ohio State and 15 against Michigan so stats can be deceiving I think the pinate offense was solid last last year pretty good it certainly wasn't Elite you know how do you have numbers like this and you fire your OC uh Midway through the season that's a pretty good question he's like what are you talking about we got the 12th best scoring offense firing me the first six games of the year right before they played Ohio State their lowest scoring output was 30 points on the road against the fighting lion ey so uh yeah kind of confusing there um but look they need to play better against the against the top of of of the league yeah 100% uh and I mean this is even funnier as Drew where you at with Drew Aller because the five-star Prospect everyone was raving about through 25 touchdowns in just two interceptions he broke the record the FBS record with 311 passing attempts without an interception for a freshman coming in or for a firsttime starter um yeah it's kind of crazy because you look at it stats and you're like damn 25-2 you don't realize that because when you were watching him play he didn't jump off the screen you know he his completion percentage was below 60% uh but again it comes down to the big games because that's what we remember we remember him and the offense struggling mightily against uh Ohio State Michigan and even against Old Miss in the bowl game I think he was uh I think he might have been south of 50% completion percentage in that game so look it was a sophomore season it was his first time ever start being being the main guy so I think if you're a pin State fan you're going to talk yourself into the fact that now he's an upper classman now with a season as a starting quarterback under his belt that he can get better and become one of the best QBs in the conference yeah stats can be deceiving because like you look back and he did throw for over 300 against dubv right three touchdowns and after that game I think we were like oh wow but after that didn't really have a 300 yard game but he did like light up a couple shitty teams there like he did you know well against obviously Delaware um and and Indiana and Maryland and Michigan State he almost do for 300 against Michigan State but there's some red flag games too against Iowa he did throw four touchdowns against Iowa but he also threw for a buck 66 um he only threw for 189 and one score against Northwestern 54 uh% completion percentage um he then uh threw for 70 yards against Michigan 10 of 20 or 10 of 22 70 yards one touchdown against Michigan and that's what the the ones that stand out of these performances to me was like he was 18 of 42 against Ohio State 42% completion percentage one touchdown uh and then the ruers game he was six of 13 for 79 yards no scores nothing so like he had his struggles like it it's it's crazy that a statline reads like that because if you didn't watch the games then you you don't know that he was like we joke around and say he was the checkdown god in those games but uh in those big games yeah and also the first throughout the first half of the year he was awful on the road the at Illinois at Northwestern at Ohio State Games he played awful now the second half of the year he had pretty good games at Maryland and at Michigan State but Maryland is not a hostile environment and Michigan State had completely F Michigan State they played in that [ __ ] Dome at Ford Field they out of East Lancing you're right good point so really the only like true Road game where he had a good game was at Maryland so you're concerned about him on the road especially when we look at uh this coming schedule this year he has a tough road game week one uh yeah so I don't know what what are your thoughts is is he a good quarterback you know can he lead Penn State to the the colge playoffs or is he overrated I mean right as of right now he's overrated yeah but could he he's obviously talented he was a five star but uh I'm you know I would have maybe added a backup because I mean if if you're that bad of you know and you're the question is is he coaching for his job or not because if he's got time I guess he and if you're Frank then you're like I just reup buy out's huge you know I think all the chips are pushed in on Drew on Drew LR so it's up to him to have a much better Junior season compared to a sophomore season even if his stats were pretty damn impressive last year yeah they bring six starters back on the offensive side of the ball uh we're going to of the six uh the running back room is maybe short of Ohio State the best in the nation Nick Singleton dog KRON Allen dog both back and they return uh you know both guards now you would kind of like them to return some tackles but JB Nelson and S Wormley back at the guard spot also tight end Tyler Warren is back as well as Harrison Wallace the third at the wide receiver spot well the other offensive linan that don't come back were all drafted by the NFL including fashanu in the first round so while it's nice to get you know to send some of your of your guys to the league uh they do have some some pieces to replace here and I know you're going to touch on the portal but they didn't really address o line in the portal which makes me think that Franklin is comfortable with the depth they had last year and some of the guys that were on the bench will emerge as starters and be just fine because look pen state has money to go get players in the portal yeah and they didn't really do that with the line so I guess you could argue that it's a that that position or that unit should be an area of concern but it seems to me like Franklin was comfortable with the guys he has coming up yeah and it should be an area of concern mainly because uh I feel like uh the defensive lines in this league yeah between Ohio State Michigan and Iowa yeah it it's super Elite now we'll see on the schedule uh but yeah certain certain things to note here now they did lose some guys London Montgomery wising up I can see that education in in State College working out London Montgomery saying Nicholas Singleton you could you mean to tell me you don't want to go play ball in Greenville well may I lead the way making a great decision London Montgomery going to the East Carolina Pirates [Music] yeah we raid Pinn State's roster it's a you know a lot of BigTime programs uh we raid the roster here's our fifth Stringer ECU have fun well your little appstate Mountaineers gonna find out about Old London Montgomery all right uh they lost Malik mlan to Arizona State a wide receiver kandre Lambert Smith to Auburn uh Malik Mega to Coastal Carolina uh Dante sephus to to Kansas State I call me crazy I know Lambert Smith and sephus weren't amazing but I feel like those guys are decent um I think they are decent but they were disappointing last year I think but but if you're checking down so much is that the receivers or is that your quarterback's inexperience it might be a combination of the two but I don't think uh Franklin was happy with the receiver unit they had last year and that's why they let Lambert Smith and and cus w cus was he was almost invisible Lambert Smith led the team in receptions and yardage uh but still you know he wasn't as good as some of the pin State receivers that we've seen come through there of late like Jan doson and others so and and they did address it a little bit in the portal um but I guess you're concerned a little bit with them leaving and and it doesn't seem like it's a very deep receiver room at the moment yeah uh I'm interested to watch both those wide receivers at at their new destinations because I I I I I think it's a serious question is like what do do those receivers suck or or was that Drew Aller not wanting to stretch the field and play conservatively yeah the funny thing between the two tight ends last year Tyler Warren and Theo Johnson Theo Johnson another player that was drafted by the NFL they both had seven touchdowns so the two tight ends had 14 touchdowns and all the receivers combined were nowhere near that you know uh lamber Smith had four cus had two uh Harrison Wallace who's returning just had one and a couple other guys you know just with with one of them hell even the third string tight end khil dinkin had two touchdowns so uh he definitely favored going to the tight end especially in the Red Zone I think this year they got to get the ball to the receivers they gotta go deep get the ball on the outside more than they did last year for sure and it's perfect to uh to he needs to get you know dinkin it just makes perfect sense khil dkin Dink and duck right that's what I'm saying I'm gonna let me throw the ball to him uh Christian dri uh transfers out to Minnesota as well they're on the schedule I believe uh lost offensive tackle ibam tror uh offensive lineman golden Israel achumba and uh yeah that's what they lost on the offens side ball they did go out and get a couple guys they they did get a tackle Nolan rukie rookie RI uh yeah from the Wisconsin Badgers that is and Julian Fleming from Ohio State well uh yeah any Ohio State receiver is a [ __ ] stud so okay kicker Chase Meyer also comes in from the Tulsa Golden hurricane giving them some stability in the kicking game if they're in some close games yeah I mean Fleming's a stud I I'm sure he's gonna be fine as long as they throw the ball down the field I'm fascinated by seeing though his numbers we'll see if Aller steps it up to the next level um and we'll see if Fleming can be the number one Target you know he he was good at Ohio State being like the third or fourth option you know is he good enough to be the main option and can some of the younger receivers who uh didn't play much last year I'm talking about uh K Kaden Saunders or Harrison Wallace they need to emerge as well the receivers need to of that [ __ ] Gotta Love uh the defensive side of the ball now I I will say this Manny Diaz in this defense pretty fire last year he gets the Duke job but they go out and get Tom Allen who I I've always thought as a really good coach you know I I think Tom Allen is is that sounds crazy to say but I think he's going to be an upgrade um I mean if you look in the at the regular season last year the only team to score in the 20s other than Ohio State and and Michigan and by the way it's not like Ohio State and Michigan put up a bunch of points you know Ohio state scored 20 Michigan scored 24 the only other team to get in the 20s was a weird game against Indiana in the regular season so this def against Tom Allen let's go there you go so this defense was very good a season too and uh they have every chance to be just as good this year yeah third in the nation in scoring per game holding teams to 13.5 points per game ironically that's third in the Big 10 uh unbelievable second in yards uh giving up [Music] first in the Big 10 only 75.5 yards per game but that didn't stop Michigan from calling what was it 25 straight run plays or some [ __ ] um uh yeah I mean the numbers were there they returned six starters three on the defensive line Abdul Carter at the end spot Devon Ellis and Zay Durant at the tackles uh linebacker Kobe King is back the secondary brings back their safeties Jaylen Reed and and K KJ Winston punter Riley Thompson's back breaking in new corners some new linebacker play what do you make of this defense man I think it's going to be very good you know if you look at people who uh rank defensive units like our guy Phil steel I he's got their D line as a top three defensive line in the nation and the linebackers and and DBS as a top 10 unit um I think they lost the most at cornerback both those guys were drafted dayquon Hardy and kin King but that's an area that they did address in the portal uh which your next screen will show so I think they did a really good job filling the holes of players that were drafted and this defense is is ready to go I guess the only concern is the new defensive coordinator I like Tom Allen I've always thought always thought he's a good defensive coach shout out to Jared Smith defense will be fired this year we are pit State he said there we go check out Jared he does great work over at Von and and on Fox Sports I believe um hell of a good guy um but yeah I'm excited for this defense I do think Tom Allen you know I don't know that the numbers will be that but I believe Tom Allen is a better defensive coordinator than Manny Diaz if but I don't know that those numbers next year will be that good do you think that will be an upgrade because that's traditionally what we try to do will they will the offense be better will the defense be better those numbers are pretty damn good last season hard to upgrade on those I think the schedule might be a little tougher this year um even if there's no Michigan this year uh but the defense is going to be Rock Solid it's going to be be one of the best defenses in the country so you're going to see something similar to that yeah shout out to cannabis kapper he says this sounds troubling no no no no um they went out in the portal well first off they lost uh Jordan Vandenburg to uh Georgia Tech King Mack alltime alltime great uh great name in my opinion uh should definitely be a rapper uh King Mack goes out to Alabama punter Alex bachetta to the rice Al um and as Jared said he's more concerned with the QB spot I think everybody is that's the big X Factor is Drew Aller in in you know second year of his his offense essentially um yeah I mean not not a lot of substantial losses King Mack would be the one that stands out but uh they went out in the portal they got Jordan Jordan Mayer from Wisconsin they they grabbed a guy from Wisconsin on the offensive line they grabbed a guy from Wisconsin on the defensive line and they are on the schedule this year can't wait to see that and then AJ Harris from Georgia who's a stud I mean this is a guy that was a top 30 recruit um where this is what I think going to be an X Factor for this team Jaylen Kimber also coming over from the Florida Gators and both those guys are expected to start day one yeah yeah and that's where they spent their money they said we needed we need the corners we need the corners obviously our depth is an issue there so um yeah I mean I think the defense will still be in pretty damn good shape I don't know that they'll put up the numbers exactly that good just because I I do think I don't know is the schedule harder because I don't think we have Michigan on the schedule I know we're going to look at it but you do have a road trip to Morgantown you got a road trip to what Los Angeles so I don't know we we'll compare in a minute guess I guess it's fairly comparable yeah uh but uh look I mean this is something the win total is set at 10 and a half to make the big 10 championships or to win the Big 10 CH sorry not to make to win the Big 10 championships plus 500 to uh make the 12 team playoff minus 140 to miss it plus 110 to win The Natty plus 2200 what stands out to you right there because it the win total is Juiced um heavily on the under it is minus 165 right yeah so it's plus 140 on the over minus 165 on the under honestly like on the surface you know until they can prove it to me I I would probably think this is a 10 and two team but I'm not laying minus 165 on that no way in hell it it's also kind of hard to lay minus 140 on making the playoff but if they are a 10 win team if they go 10 and two and even if they miss out on the Big 10 championship game you would think that would be good enough to make the the 12 team playoff so it's I don't know it's kind of hard uh to think of of any of these that I might actually bet what's your favorite I think it's nine and three might even get them in the playoffs when I did this when I looked at the past 10 years of them uh with the 12 team playoff not not Penn State but college football there was a couple I mean a lot of 9 and3 teams would get in so it matters who your wins probably are and and where you're at ranking wise but uh you know that one stands out to me at minus 140 because if they're nine and3 they still have a decent shot at it um I and I I find it hard to believe this team's going to be any worse than 9 and3 now can you imagine a pin a home game State College Pennsylvania December 20th or whatever the hell hopefully at night you know hope my God a special white out you know it's like it would be crazy look I understand we have a lot of stupid [ __ ] going on in college football like USC and Ruckers playing in the same conference is very stupid but they're finally getting their heads right because I I just think a home game a home playoff game with some of these places whether it's Iowa City whether it's Manhattan Kansas whether it's you know State College Pennsylvania or Oxford Mississippi I think that scene is going to just give steroids to the sport so look if you're forcing me to take one of these right now blindly you know I it probably be to make the playoff minus 140 or the under but the under is so Juiced you might you might be better off and let me give me a second here let me see what I can do you might be better off if you go through the schedule if you find if you can find the exact wins right yeah um and and if you can find either 10 and two or nine and three there whatever you feel better about um let me I'm just quickly trying to figure this out right now so give me a second but uh that might be your best way to approach this um where are we at I see on give me one second just got to find Penn State um where are we I kind of want why you're pulling that up I kind of wonder about a plus 500 for the Big 10 champ I believe pin state has the third best odds you know but everybody is expecting Ohio State and Oregon in that mix Penn State only plays one of those teams and they play him at home and that is the Buckey I know you showed their record against Ohio State recently it's not good but if I mean and and oh State's very good but if if you ever go to beat them you maybe maybe this is a chance if they can somehow beat Ohio State then they got a pretty decent chance at making the big 10 championship game yeah and if you look right so exactly nine wins is plus 370 exactly 10 wins is plus 280 I kind of like the the exactly 10 wins at plus 280 yeah let's jump into the schedule because I think or or or the nine depending on what you what you feel we week one they head to Morgantown West Virginia to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers um dude this is a dangerous game we all remember last year where uh Pinn state was uh I I guess we'll call fortunate to cover because they ran up the score and they they pushed in uh you know a touchdown with I think under 20 seconds to go or something I'm not sure about the timing but uh so it's kind of a Revenge game I mean you could argue Pinn state ran it up last year uh so West Virginia is not going to be happy and uh they're always dangerous at home buddy what ises this early spread I think it's like 10 points right last I saw I think it was 10 uh I'm all over West Virginia the points there and I I actually think it's worth a money line sprinkle we drew all you just you just referenced how shitty he's been on the road right and and the okay he played good at Maryland Maryland is nothing compared to Morgantown you know what I mean now we'll say that we do have a kick time it's it's noon which if you're West Virginia you would have hoped to have like a 8:00 pm you know Prime Time Under The Lights game where I think it would be even that more rabid um so I think that's a little bit of a break you know pin State playing early in the day but still it's a tough it's a tough environment I mean we all know that dude I don't give a [ __ ] they'll be liquored up I've been to morgant toown all right doesn't matter what time you play this game all right this place the couches will be burning and don't let them win this thing because the whole town will burn down um I don't feel good about Pinn State here like Aller got to prove it to me West Virginia upset talk to me I got him own one to play Devil's Advocate and not to agree with you I will go with Pinn state but I'm definitely taking the 10 points I think it is going to be a close game much closer than a season ago but uh I I'll say Penn State wins by seven I don't think you're crazy though for going a West Virginia money line bed either yeah yeah I just feel like we he's got to prove it to me that he can win on the road you know what I mean and this place you could argue this place is as toxic as any big 10 you know like as far as like just the fans being Ravid um uh week two home to Bowling Green that will be a win Scotty left Patty se's boy I'll go out on the limb and say that's a W2 uh they got a bye see I'd rather have my bye later in the season for sure because I don't you kind of got two by- weeks back to back because Kent State's coming to town Jack Lambert ain't walking through that door um uh three and 0 or no two and one I'm sorry two and one three and0 for you right yeah now uh Brett buma and the Illinois fighting Aon ey they you know what he won the last time they played in State College I think what did I say Franklin's record I think he's 4-2 again against Illinois something like that those have been kind of close games man I feel like uh I'm taking Penn State but I mean would shock me if if this's a three-point game in the fourth quarter yeah I guess so I mean it could be closer than expected uh but I think this this month of home games here I don't think anybody really pushes Pinn State I think they win them all fairly easy yeah then you got Deshawn Foster in UCLA remember this was supposed to be Chip Kelly he leaves kind of late in the off season to Ohio State this should be an easy win uh I yeah I got him four- one you got him five and0 by October 5th right yeah exactly now comes the big one as they head to Los Angeles uh Franklin is 0 and one uh all time against USC they played in the roseb Sam darnold against Sean Clifford if memory serves me correct uh crazy game because I think pin State blew like a 17-point lead if memory sech me correct but uh this is the this is a hard one for me I mean I lean Penn State but not by much yeah I think I think people are sleeping on USC a little bit obviously everything went wrong last year in the second half of the season for the Trojans and nobody's expecting much I think their win total is only at like seven or seven and a half or so um let's put it this way I think Penn State is gonna drop a game on the road this year so if I'm going to give them West Virginia I'm going to have them lose probably at e either at USC or at with Wisconsin um they do get that nice bye before going up to Camp Randall so you know what I'll say the Trojans knock him off there's your first loss I got them beating the Trojans they get a byee as you just alluded to then they head to Madison man this three- game stretch is tricky here um I got them beat in Wisconsin he's he's undefeated against Wisconsin I'm not sold on Wisconsin and big baller will be there in person yeah I mean it's a it wouldn't shock me at all if Wisconsin won that game because those games would be close but we mentioned a couple a couple weeks ago I think uh Wisconsin has Alabama Pinn state and Oregon if I'm not mistaken all coming to Camp Randall yeah they're going to get at least one of those yeah not quite sure which one it's going to be you could argue Penn State might be the easiest of the three or Alabama um they're get one of them but I'm going to say it's not Penn State yeah yeah uh give me Penn State to get this I'll say this between Wisconsin and Ohio State Penn State's losing one of those um that you know their only win what did I say he's one and N against Ohio state is James Franklin the only win was on a block field goal return for a touchdown yeah I'm sorry you know prove it to me show it to me first you that week the on Saturday November 2nd I have the Buckeyes you know going in Happy Valley and beating Penn State me too and that's that's the second loss I will say this this Washington game I'm not high on Washington this year at all really but I do think getting them in November is much harder than getting them in October or September because the team team will be a little more figured out but I still think Washington is just kind of all over the place I actually think they're this year's TCU give me pen state to beat Washington yeah they're traveling AC the country I I I'm going to guess that they've never played at Penn State before I'm not sure if a very young team is going to be ready for that kind of environment Penn State you know gets back on on the winning side of things after losing to Ohio State yeah and that date's actually messed up it's the ninth it's not a Friday night game uh then they had to Purdue West Lafayette last time they played there was a hell of a good game uh but then again Jeff Braum was the head coach of Purdue um I got pin State going into West Lafayette and taking care of business how about you yeah I think so I'm not high on Purdue I think they're going to struggle this year just like last year but now I got a backto back away as they head to Minneapolis I believe they lost the last time they went to Minneapolis rock that I got Minnesota winning this dude this this is very tricky uh I'll give Pinn State the the win but it's always a tough place to play especially on the second end of a back-to-back road trip it it's going to be very close I'll take Minnesota to cover whatever kind of points that they're uh you know giving me uh but I'm going to lean Pinn state to uh to knockoff Minnesota then finish up the year vers Maryland with a W at home and I have them 10- two I got them nine and three and I think the schedules Road games are tricky man if all's not ready like you could lose you could go one and four on the road that that would then Franklin would definitely be on the hot seat and might get fired if you talking about an eight and4 type season and that doesn't even say I mean that then they might lose to Ohio State at home so um I'm a little bit higher than you I I think this defense and then Drew Ador as you know a junior now I think he will improve and I think Penn State's just a very good football team they can definitely repeat a 10 and two season and that should put them in the couch playoff no he's got to prove it to me so you have nine and three and missing out on the playoffs I I don't probably in because I I this is the thing we've never seen 12 team playoff selection I think they're probably going to Super you know favor the SEC and and big 10 schools so maybe they could get in then but uh let me ask you this I had I'm sorry did you want to finish that thought first no I just think there's too many like he's with with a guy that hasn't proven it to me with a receiving core that I still question there's too many potholes to me like okay it wouldn't surprise me if they 10 and two but I just think he's got to prove it to me there's too many spots to me where it's West Virginia I even think Illinois can give them a game I think USC is is a losable game Wisconsin's a losable game Ohio State's a losable game [ __ ] if fish has got Washington ahead of schedule which I like I said I question that I question the hire even but I mean this team did play in the national championship last year uh and they're get you're getting them in November and then the Minnesota spot I think is very tricky well I would say the um the road trips are tougher this year compared to last year last year they had at Illinois at Northwestern at Ohio State at Maryland at Michigan State uh you know and that wasn't even at Michigan State that was a neutral yeah yeah definitely so really they only had four true Road games and really they they blew out all those opponents other than Ohio State this year having the out of conference Road game at West Virginia is tough and then at see at Wisconsin those aren't easy places to win and then you know throw in that that Minnesota game and maybe you could even talk me about the Purdue game being a little tricky I don't think they have any problems there but uh so I had them them losing two conference games but let me ask you this what if they lose say say they're still 10 and two but they lose to West Virginia and Ohio State and they only have one loss in conference will that be enough to get them into a big 10 championship game there might be some kind of tiebreaker scenario they need to release these tiebreaker things yes say say Oregon beats Ohio State and then Oregon loses a game to somebody else and and you have Michigan Oregon loses at Michigan there you go Ohio State beats Penn State so you have a three-way tie there right right but also Iowa would lose to Ohio State but Iowa doesn't play Penn State or Oregon they could certainly be in the mix as well or Michigan I don't know if Michigan's ready to be there just yet but those four teams could all be sitting there with just one loss in conference I think they would choose Ohio State and Oregon there if I had to guess that's who they'd want to choose for sure I I I think Not only would you have the rankings but Ohio state would have the head-to-head with Pinn State Ohio state would have the head-to-head with Iowa and then Oregon would have the head-to-head of over Ohio State right well it all depends on what the tiebreaker scenario is what if it's whoever's highest in the uh the bow rankings or or the I think though that's that's why the preseason rankings matter so much because you never drop back that that much that's why which is absolutely ridiculous because it shouldn't matter it's very horrible but uh I do think then it would be Oregon and Ohio State in the championship game either way I think they want those two to have a rematch but but also I mean we were saying that college football you know the people um you know whether it was you know conference Commissioners or whoever they were concerned about having rematches so do you want to see Oregon Ohio State for the second time I would I think it's a fantastic game I'd rather not see it at Lucas Oil but uh but it's going to be a problem for them because you understand you almost don't want to play in the championship game yeah like if Penn State if that scenario comes up and Penn State say loses out and a tiebreaker and Oregon and Ohio State play and let's say Ohio state gets revenge on Oregon and beats them yeah Ohio state gets the buy that's fine but they're probably going to get a buy anyway right or like they were in a spot they were top four it had been the old system is my point but like Penn State would then hop Oregon because Oregon just got a loss you see my point yeah I mean the conference Championship is great for the winner it could be very very bad for the loser kind of like uh USC two years ago yeah well it's like Penn State would then probably be hosting a game maybe even I was hosting a game but Oregon might now have a road game because they lost if they make it at all yeah it's horrible you don't want to play in that game they got to get rid of championship games um they gotta get rid of but they won't because they make too much money for the TV companies right um it's just stupid it doesn't make any sense so wait you're that good so you have to play an extra game and by you playing that extra game it jeopardized your playoff hopes that's insane that's absolutely [ __ ] insane anyway I uh I back to the original win total and by the way if you're wondering on the right I did power rank the games one to2 but the the original win total um I lean under here man I feel pretty good about the under um seems like you do too yeah I do I think this is a a 10 and two team you can maybe even argue nine and three if everything goes right could they go 11- one of course but uh the the real prohibitive thing here is that you got to delay that minus 165 if you're going to bet an under and and that's just too much for me I agree I'm fascinated by watching this season though with Pinn State I do think they could go 111 I mean and look I don't even think it's that crazy for them if they get the byee imagine if Penn State's playing Iowa in in in the Big 10 Championship then they get a byee even though I'd rather see a game at State College um in December but uh then you know maybe you get what Kansas state or Oklahoma State second round and next thing you know like you're you're a legit Contender for the national championship there so if you're a Penn State fan it's worth sprinkling a little bit um yeah I'm the under I feel pretty good about it uh will this be on your locks pod no I don't think so because like I just said I I I think well first off I'm not my locks are going to be things I actually bet and again I'm not laying that that much juice for an under uh and I do think Penn State you know if everything goes right they could have a pretty special year and win 11 or 12 games will James Franklin be coaching here next year I think so all right there we go um all right folks that's our show make sure you check us out we making that type of money they're making they probably just made a couple million dollars my question is is that money sh shared is that like you know obviously I think the TV money shared but even like tickets that's not shared that probably goes to the home team right I would assume so then then everything within the town you know hotels restant every single little thing you it's I think if
