Buffalo Bills Depth Chart CONFIRMED ahead of Week 1 vs Arizona Cardinals

the Buffalo Bills 2024 depth chart was just released ahead of the Arizona Cardinals game Sports Illustrated and many others broke down articles as to who's going to be starting at certain positions I want to take a deep dive into this depth chart and just see some player projections and how this season could ultimately shake out this Sports Illustrated article breaking down the 2024 Buffalo Bills depth chart really eyes the safety position since that is a big question mark for the Buffalo Bills losing Jordan puyer Micah Hyde now having Taylor WP but who is going to start opposite of Taylor WAP and we could see this article clearly states that it looks like it will be Demar Hamlin starting alongside Taylor WP at the safety spot in week one versus the Arizona Cardinals and we can clearly see here that the Buffalo Bills have had a lot of turnover we did bring in Mike Edwards we even brought in Kareem Jackson and Cole bishop and all these players here even cam Lewis being here for several years years but ultimately looking at the 2024 depth chart ahead of this season really goes to show you what the bills have in store really first things first let's take a look at dear Hamlin and we can kind of see that dear Hamlin is going to be starting here alongside Taylor WP but behind Taylor WP behind dear Hamlin we could see we have Mike Edwards really that strong safety type and I think that is going to be the first difference for the Buffalo Bills this upcoming season in years past we had Micah Hy Jordan puyer kind of playing this mixture hybrid role both mixing and matching between free safety and strong safety now Jordan puyer was the bigger safety out of the two Micah Hy technically the free safety in this defense but they were interchangeable now I think moving on from these safeties and having a Taylor wrap having a Demar Hamlin and these other safeties on our team I think it's clear that Demar Hamlin is that free safety type he's a little bit more agile he's not as big and strong or physical as Taylor wrap I think Taylor wrap brings a presence to this Buffalo Bills defense that we haven't had here he's a ferocious hitter he's big and I think he could definitely lay the lumber same with Mike Edwards He's a little bit bigger in size now really looking at it Cole Bishop to me is a very big safety and I'm surprised that the bills have him actually at the free safety spot for the Buffalo Bills I would have thought Cole Bishop would have definitely backed up Taylor W I think Mike Edwards is even smaller than Cole Bishop overall in size you know and cam Lewis has some third in the depth chart here I think cam Lewis could definitely be uh a free safety a strong safety I think cam Lewis lacks overall size but his aggressive play against a run and his willingness to put his head right up into the thick of things is definitely there for bills Mafia so it's just interesting to see how the bills opted to mix and match these safeties for the Buffalo Bills but it does look like dear Hamlin will be starting the season opposite of Taylor rat the other spot I want to eye up on is this defensive line because we all know a defensive line that gets after the quarterback will ultimately help the back end of our defense and we could see here that we actually have AJ Essa starting at Edge ahead of Von Miller and we also have Greg rouso starting ahead of Von Miller and when Von Miller first came here he was saying he wanted to maintain a high snap count but after this injury that he had to recover from after getting up in age Von Miller even having an interview openly admitting hey look he's willing to do whatever it takes to make this team win Bon Miller taking a pay cut for the Buffalo Bills well the proof is there that Von Miller is not a solidified number one and he will be working in this rotation for the Buffalo Bills and sha mcder I really believe we're going to see Von Miller come in on certain downs and distances come in and play with 110% effort being that he's going to be fresh working with this rotation on the defensive line we have depth on this defensive line Javon sullon Casey tohill uh Smoot all these guys are going to be working in rotation for bills Mafia the tackles are pretty solidified ated Oliver decoin Jones but we have Dwayne Carter the rookie Austin Johnson all going to be mixing in on a play- to-play basis and who knows we could very well see Javon Sullivan come in at D tackle and work and rotate I think with Bobby babit Shawn McDermot mixing between packages last year I think that's a trend that we're going to continue to see for 2024 different packages player personnels on this defense also we could see the linebacker spot for bills Mafia trell Bernard clearly the starter at midle linebacker Nicholas Maro and then our guy Buffalo Joe backing up there but Dorian Williams is going to be starting Matt Milano spot which makes the most sense clearly stepping in for Matt Milano last year as a rookie Dorian Williams has progressed he's had a full off seon no longer a rookie anymore he's definitely going to be the best version of himself and a hell of a lot better at this point than what he was last year Balin Spectre is also backing up Dorian Williams for that will linebacker spot so something happens to Dorian Williams we could very well see balen Spectre and again we have Kyer Elum take notice as a backup on this team it is Christian Benford rosul Douglas even with ja Ada the new secondary coach for the Buffalo Bells a lot of people Assuming he's going to get the most out of ker Elum and these defensive backs well ker Elum is going to be another depth piece for the 2024 Buffalo Bill there is an injury expect Kyer elim to come in and ball out we have Jamarcus Ingram as well who is continuously done very very well especially under Shawn mcder who knows defensive backs like the back of his hand moving on to the offensive side of the football the first thing I want you to take notice of is the running back room James Cook clearly the number one running back for the Buffalo Bells now we have Ty Johnson and also Ray Davis Ty Johnson is ahead of rookie Ray Davis I think the difference is between the two is that Ty Johnson he's a little bit faster he's a little bit more agile and I think he probably at this point has better hands out of the backfield and more trust under Joe Brady and Josh Allen and everything that we're trying to do as the season progresses I do expect to see more and more Ray Davis and I think we could very well see Ray Davis as early as the Arizona Cardinal game as a supplement and just like a change of pace back for bills Mafia next we have really the wide receiver crew and interestingly enough our rookie Keon Coleman who's been a highlight reel on and off the field ever since he got here is now in a backup depth role to Matt Collins but again we have seen it in the past with even Gabe Davis being a rookie working in rotation with Emanuel Sanders I expect Keon Coleman to be mixed in with ma Hollands I expect mvs to be mixed in with Curtis Samuel and M Hollands just like Joe Brady said everyone in this offense is going to eat and I think this is going to buy us a little bit of time to get Keon Coleman up to speed and as the season progresses I think the more trust and the more we're going to rely on our rookies like Kean Coleman similar to what we did with Dalton con Kade last year DT con Kade was really eased into the league last year and as the season progressed we really started relying on D con Cade and we could see that concade is actually head of Dawson Knox on the depth chart here Dawson Knox more so that blocking tight end for bills Mafia and you could really see that dkan Cade no longer a rookie having a full off seon really only one of the only receiving threats Josh alen has thrown to in regular game action khil Shakir is in the slot so we have Curtis Samuel we have Mack Holland competing with Keon Coleman Curtis Samuel competing with vs but on an League of his own an island of his own we have khil Shakir in the slot all by himself going to be the primary slot wide receiver for bells Mafia let's not forget DL and cage can mix into the slot too as well on this offensive line it's pretty solidified you can see here that really the biggest question mark is David Edwards he was with the Buffalo Bills last year and I think he is going to do an excellent excellent job Conor McGovern mov moving away from Mitch Morris but he presents a little bit bigger body type here at the center
