DANGEROUS Roads & Accidents block us getting to Lesotho on our KTM Motorcycle!

so here is steamed bread and then we've got some vegetables sausage and an egg that looks so good it's perfect for today isn't it and a big sausage you like big sausages wouldn't know [Laughter] [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music] [Music] [Music] so we are in a town just I don't know the name but it's past Matata and the place that we' booked we just couldn't get to you have to drive at night and it's fine in a car just about but in a bike it's on a bike it's so so so dangerous so we found some last minute accomodation that turned out to be just fantastic it's in a like a rural area and they've just done the place up so well it's got everything you need and it's little Huts like little building not Huts it's like little separate build buildings all the way around in this little compound it's it's just been such a a fantastic little stay you know cuz we're not staying long we have to zoom out just a few hours Brian's droning to show the area but good morning but there's Brian this is the courtyard and it's so beautiful so you can wake up and you see all the mountains so Brian's droning so you can see um where we are so Brian's just showing the Drone hello this is a get in the mountains I'm not sure where we're going we're hoping to get in the mountains but unfortunately because it's winter there is snow and um Peter's worried about snow and also he doesn't have the heater gear that we do cuz we are lucky we do have that wonderful heater gear from gerbing and if we hadn't had it oh my God we would be struggling we really would be struggling yesterday really well yesterday yeah but in the mountains so like I can understand why he's a bit concerned about going up there if he doesn't feel it so I want Brian to let him test the heater gear his is bigger so everyone can just put the put the jacket on F I'm saying that you're slightly taller than me darling see we're hoping to go to the mountains but we don't know cuz Uncle Pete might be too cold because he hasn't got the right gear also it might the like the road we wanted to go on yesterday was closed and that's because it's middle of winter and when they say roads get washed away the whole bloody roads go washed it's not like a little dirt track it's like oh off road it's gone we were so lucky this place was here because honestly we got hit and about 20 minutes later it was pitch black so much so that we couldn't find the we went to the go to the spa to get some food and we couldn't find the road back because it was so dark I mean we did but like we couldn't see it straight away we had to slow right down but yeah absolutely love staying in here total comfort comfy bed like just just definitely if you want an experience no that sounds really patronizing it's true though like people have experiences of turning the townships and that yeah like you can actually stay in one which is just lovely and everybody is so sweet and like the woman went to me yesterday she came to me as just like oh it's so lovely having you here and it's just really nice so I think if you want to come and experience a rural property you are behind bars like Gates electric gates but that's South Africa but you are Rural and you can see the mountains so if you want to get come here stay and see the mountains and eat local food local food yeah all the crisps all the chocolate all the food all the food aren't we J speaking of food speaking of food it's breakfast if you guys want to tour with us let us know cuz we want to come back and we love you guys we're going to do it nobody cares bunny King Hogs well we care nobody cares Caroline cares and then we can go to that b place and everyone can buy baskets and put it on your bike and fill the baskets with puppies okay got to get eat oh yeah got cols you need to live in a colum Village this is the middle of sh Show here I mean it's it's very difficult to turn in your own country because you have this inclination that you want to like head if we're going to tour we need another 3 days to get home okay so today we're going to go up Elliot and then there's a pass after that and after the pass there's a split off onto a smaller road but we'll make a call on the temperature and stuff so we're trying to head for Smithfield today okay Smithfield so we're going to go a little bit north and then we're going to cut a little bit in the westly direction okay then tomorrow we're going to go to a place called Sandstone Sandstone is on the northern part near fburg on the northern part of L but it's in South Africa it's got a massive collection of Railway stuff and old equipment and machines and it's very interesting it's exactly what I like good morning good morning and then what we'll do is we'll head home on Sunday then only okay so we're going to become real tourists okay but today is 5 5 hours and 20 minutes of riding okay so you going to be warming up yeah make a call if we get up there and it's ice cold at the just after the pass we won't go up onto the board if we go on the board and it's very very cold there's one slip through I'm not sure the quality of the road is probably not going to be good but we don't really care about that if we need to swap at some point you can get on mine with the heat jacket just to warm up do you know what I mean if we do get too chilly you know what I mean it's just thate getting to I think what we need to do really is adjust that Chine up a little bit yeah okay okay so I'm just loosing the the lock that so I'm going to just go I'm going to count the flats so I'm just going to literally go three Flats cuz you don't have to bother about all the other stuff one two two three three okay and you don't need this is not a strength competition it's just simple this is not good too tight the last person obviously had a strength competition going here is that you probably not lift it up one two three that's got to go more four oh yeah look at it going up five I saw a move there and here come the cows was mad lovely mental so it's a bit wet little bit wet today but look at these great gloves watch boop boop boop so we're just waiting for waterproof and I'm sitting here on the bike because I'm charging I'm linked to the bike and so if I get off I'll freeze if I stay on I'm nice and warm anyway Brian fixed my jacket so now it's starting to heat up nice and my gloves I'm GNA have wet legs but it's better than me falling because I can't put my feet down so it's fine do you want me to take the neck come yeah you can do just watch my hair as it comes off like it's better going around that way cuz that ah pulls my hair thank you thank you Pete was laughing at me cuz every time he stops I hand him a sweet until I'm getting warm cuz my f is fogging up nice and toasty I mean look at this I'm sitting and it's 4° and I'm sitting outside in the rain toasty but my legs are getting wet though but I so when I came out the hotel I tried to put my feet down and it got tangled cuz my water are really baggy and they made for longer legs than mine and I got tangled and I couldn't put my foot down so I had take them off so I'm going to have wet legs but but toasty cannot thank ging enough for this because if if there is no way I could ride today I'd be in the car oh no honestly I'm not I'm not I can't deal with cult and I'm sitting here in 4° with like sleety rain happy as Larry than honestly I'm so my thighs are pretty chilly and I get that they'll need warming up later but for now happy Happy Days look at you looking snazzy oh we're matching sort of there's Uncle Pete hey looking snazzy and now we can go whoosh whoosh oh too much rain for my thumb bunny keeping your hair nice and dry I know my bunnies like honestly it's but also it's keep my head nice head nice let's keep my head nice honey who doesn't want a nice head so we have to be very careful because the um roads are slippery so we just mustn't zoomy zoom and just take it slowly the rain was predicted for today but you know what and we can't really see the mountains either which is sad but the weather it warms up in about half an hour it'll suddenly jump from three oh it's gone to 3° it'll suddenly jump from 3 to 23 I'm joking that's whiskful thinking that is whiskful thinking so where I'm getting cold at the moment is uh my one boot which doesn't zip up so the Air's just straight into my feet so that's chilly and uh and obviously my leggings they they're just soaking in the water but I just think I'd rather be a little bit soggy and wet than fall over every time I stop say that now I say that now yeah but riding from next hour we got another 7 hours to go 7 hours to go today it's a long one I got a few short I think so too but but I'm not going to be the one to say short to it I was going to say I'm really tough I'm not I've got heat of GE water bre so but my next step is to get the leggings and the socks and I'm going to get the whole set and then I'm going to go and ride in Iceland when it's summer cuz I can't ride on the ice is that okay I will ride in Scotland you don't know me I think um Auntie Sam would love my playlist we're going to have a music night when we get back great you'll try and play your rock stuff and it'll be like nah ice warning oh I've got ice warnings do you mhm haven't you at the top of your screen I got a feeling our um GoPros are going to die not GoPros our headsets oh well yeah our headsets did die but to be fair it was Rainier rain this is just spikier rain car expent or looks like it yeah oh just getting the car into the mountain cuz I don't think you're going to see much up there and I think you're concentrating a lot I'm quite happy to go there but I don't know otherwise you go whatever you think whatever you think so we were going to go the mountains but because of the weather we're going to go to Smithfield so we're going direct there now so we'll arrive at halfast 1 so yeah the mountains it's just the weather's bit pants for that so that's what's happening me you okay with that it is what it is we can't even see the mountains in front of us so there somewhere okay can I go yeah go yeah yeah go thanks Annie I think it's fine the rain is kind of making it hard to see oh there's just no points in this yeah cuz you can't see cuz apparently there's all the mountains and we can't see so it's it's freezing it's um it's 3° and um the the bike is telling us we have ice warnings and we have these beautiful mountains just all around us but we they're a bit fuzzy hang on I'll turn the camera in a minute oh you are you sure okay so you'll see I don't need to turn the camera cuz Brian's got it and um it was stupid cuz we're sitting in town and I could have zipped my jacket up I could have turned my he jacket up and I just sat there like a like a big go for about 10 minutes and now like it's really stingy on my neck cuz it's like little icy spikes but it's not taking away from the enjoyment of today at all I just like it's a oh my God are you getting this on camera so we have to go a bit slower today because the roads are wet as you can see and we got ice warnings and all that but look at this that's so amazing I'm like look at this got hunting cuz it's on my neck and I know I've got a strap and everything yeah I've got a strap here woo car coming uh I don't know where the others up where the velcro friend is where's its friend I don't know anyway oh sorry slowed right down trying to do my velcro and it looks incredible and oh the mountains go all the way around actually so now it's starting to clear we can see them wellow Star seem to clear I know it does be closer now we're in the mountains that's by by that we can actually touch them oh it's gone down to 2° has it yeah 2° so we have to be careful of ice up here because it is raining and it is chilly it's terrible oh look at this wow this is so beautiful I wonder if we'll see more baboons up here baboons they're probably hiding in this weather yeah different to the Alps very oh was also scary and oh look at all the massive pop off rocks the alha cold and stingy rain uh here I think it's just that hot holes and animal pressure is is more intense yeah [Music] oh there's snow up there I know there s s there's snow up there [Music] look going to the snow baby oh we no but we need the SN baby woohoo [Music] that's crazy [Music] gorgeous oh it's such a shame we can't see them imagine coming on a clear day here yeah it would be incredible oh it's just so glorious yeah it's still 4° definitely brighter I think the rain's on the inside of my helmet uh probably condensation so we're leaving the mountains you see it's all dark behind so it seems to be brightening up here and the sun's trying to break out of the clouds but I'm I'm so gutted because the great big mountains which you can't see behind us cuz of the cloud oh they were just stunning and they had snow at the top which is exciting cold and uh and yeah just these dramatic big mountains right we're coming to a town now okay big one so okay where is he but like dirt road so it's only this that's paved if you look off it oh there's Uncle Pete so we turn down that way this is lovely look Park here [Music] oh wow it's so pretty oh there's a fire yeah good plan we can't we got Electronics in there your cloes dry get get you get a bit chil out we can't because there's been a head-on collision with a truck and a bus so we can't go there anymore so um we're going to uh find another P now not sure where but I'm going to go stand by the fire
