people make the mistake like I said think Jam Howard was the only guy and that was a big mistake right we have a very nice running back room a deep running back room we got three guys on that offensive line who are all M selections one of them who according to the Blue Bloods is a top 10 top five offensive linean in the country right let's run the football what is good y'all welcome back to the blit hity podcast I'm your host kobor and today we're going to be talking about three reasons why North Folk lost this game because anybody who watched that game knew they should have won and didn't because of their own fault let's be honest they were doing good throughout most of the game and then they just kind of took their foot off the pedal kind of gave away momentum but we're about to talk about all that right now so let's get into it so first the first reason why they lost the game and this is all my opinion by the way you let me know why you think so down below in the comment section but the first reason in my opinion why they lost the game is because they played it safe they gave away momentum I fully believe that odms went to this game not expecting to be this close with FAMU like I I really think he went into that game and he didn't expect the game to turn out the way that it did especially not that early he didn't expect that so now you going to a game and you're not expecting to be dominating like this you're not expecting to be up this early your mind is racism because you don't want to blow that lead here comes a whole new set of pressures that you got in your head now you don't want to blow that lead you're on National Television you didn't expect this you got to keep this up you got to keep being creative you got to keep being productive you got to keep the momentum and he didn't do it you see if it's four to in plus territory you don't give the ball back you go for it plenty of times Norfolk could have went for it in this game and if had they been successful which I really believe they would have been they would not have had to even decide whether to go for two towards the end had they been successful earlier on had they been aggressive earlier on throughout the game they wouldn't have had to do it late in the game when they only had one time out left but he did your running back is averaging 5 1/2 yards a carry they can't stop your running game except for a couple of times which was not consistent they could not stop your run game why are you giving the ball back on Third and manageable fourth and man manageable situations you go for it they picked the wrong time to be aggressive you had this is a momentum sport you had all the momentum you had fam you on their toes you can feel it through the screen you don't give that away secondly and this is still about the first point conditioning um at the beginning all of these trap plays that you were running with the offensive lineman it looked beautiful those run plays were designed and executed beautifully but as you can see when the night went on and I didn't care about to throw up that happens even when we were in Atlanta last year it was pretty hot I get that that's cool but where were your conditioning throughout camp like how how often were you conditioning throughout Camp to where these kids literally did not look the same and yes fatigue happens you get tired but the fact that these kids were if you were to compare how they ran uh in the first half versus the second half as far as how those linemen moved they still did good but it wasn't as good there was a drop off bigger than expected there was a drop off the conditioner just wasn't part for those lineman which brings me to my my second point you failed to set up the pass you did very good running the football very good overall but you had 42 rushing attempts and nine passing attempts you didn't even pass the ball a double digit amount of times you passed it nine times in this game there was so many times where you could have set up the pass you could have set up FAMU because you were running it so well you were running it so well Kevin King had 14 attempt 196 yard he averaged 10 1/2 yards per carry and had two touchdowns on the ground FAMU is concerned about stopping him they can't stop him you were running the ball every single play we knew what was coming and they couldn't stop it so on even on Third and manageable in fourth the man manageable situations guess what I'm going to do cuz you got to mix it up just a little bit I'm going to hit you with a quick slant at least at least a little quick play action maybe just a little quick slant something easy to move the chains but you didn't do do it you didn't do it when you should have now yeah you had 145 yards passing in the game I believe but that was because of some big time plays made made by both of your receivers JZ Jones and Cameron Thomas with the 41 and 49 yard reception nobody said that you had to wait and and let a big play develop and you know you didn't have to do all that just a quick slant here a quick slant there just a little gimme play take what they give you which brings me to my final Point defensively you failed to stop Jamari gas it was clear as much as people want to give Daniel Richardson credit and yes he did play well he did correct his mistakes I still need to see more from him you know why because Jamari gasset was his clear was his clear Target every play every play we we know who he's favorite is if if it wasn't going to be Jamari it was going to be a running back or a tight end to get what they can get if I'm a defensive coordinator I'm seeing this he's favoring Jamari a lot let me at least bait him or take Jamari out the game double him put two bodies on him do something put safety help I don't care what you got to do take Jamari gasset out the game that is clearly his favorite Target Jamari was able to have eight receptions for 110 yards two touchdowns and average 13.8 yards a catch did very well against the Run Kelvin Dean only had 49 yards on the ground B somersault this was his debut so I'm not going to hold much against him but he couldn't get the ball going well either overall you played it safe you gave away momentum you you failed to set him up with with with the pass when the situation called for it and you failed to stop Jamari GID which ultimately led to you losing that game I'm not going to criticize you for that last decision I I'm not mad at you wanting to go for two um I do think that if you're going to do it number one your quarterback should have ran towards the outside there was nobody out there he could have made that instead of trying to cut it in but two I don't like the play call either with that being said these are just my opinions Norfolk looks a lot better than I thought would be this season so I I do give them credit for that these are just my takeaways from the game last night for North Folk let me know
