Corbin Burnes on Uncork for a Cause

he and his wife Brooke have announced the details for their uncork For A Cause charity event benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maryland it'll be September 2nd 7:00 to 10: p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Baltimore you can have great wine food and friends and raise money for an important cause one of them featured is a one night only special it is Corbin's very own 2021 California Reserve red wine there is only one barrel made of this it's the only time it will be available but you will get to take home that bottle as well if you are in attendance you can go to burn givesmart.com to participate in this but we got a chance to sit down with him yesterday and discuss the fact that they've brought this with them from Milwaukee take a listen yeah it it's been a really fun event um you know where it's the it's uncork for a cause and we're benefiting the Ron McDonald House Charities um I've worked with the Rona McDonald House ever since I've been drafted um back home in in Bakersfield and obviously with with my time in wuke work with him and now um coming to Baltimore being able to work with the the house here is is great so um it means a lot to us obviously now we have three under three so we uh we understand the the family Dynamic and um you know when you have some loved ones going through something and and having a a house like that and a charity like that reach out to help you through tough times is we think it's incredible and so we are we're honored to be able to help them out so take me through this because Uncorked for a cause they they work with guys like Zach gallon Tom glavin some really big names but they all can kind of choose where they ultimately want their charity to land there's a huge range of different causes that it's helped out so how did they get in contact with you and and how did that become a fit yeah me and my wife uh we like wine um and so it happened to work out that um you know Blake is is our main contact he's he's done a great job um with a lot of guys around the league and and did a great job with our event last year and so um it was kind of a natural fit um us us enjoying wine and want to help out um you know the community so um like you say Blake has done has done many events with all kinds of Charities and um the Ronald McDon house was something that was close for us so he was able to make that connection and um it's a fun night this will be the second year that we do it um obviously first year in Baltimore but um it's a great night for for the players and and fans and everyone that wants to get involved um and help raise a lot of money for the the Ronald McDonald House for fans this is their only chance to have a bottle from this one barrel that you have picked it's a 2021 red uh last year was a 2019 have you tried these wines are you a part of the making process I haven't tried the one this year um it's it's always good wine I'm I I enjoy red wine the most uh more than anything so um at this event there's it's mostly red there's a I think there's a couple whites this year um and then usually there's a there's a pretty good uh whiskey tasting section as well for for people who don't enjoy wine is as much as we do but um it's a fun night um you get to try a bunch of different wines um a lot of the vendors are um there and they provide a lot of you know trips you can get away to um just can go home with a couple bottles if they got some extra ones there so um it's a fun night um like I said we last year I think we raised almost $30,000 so this year we're we're trying to beat that goal but um I say it's we you you get a lot of the baseball team there they all come out you get to meet and greet um get home go home with a signed bottle of wine and um at the end of night everyone wins yeah the artwork is gorgeous you just mentioned that a lot of teammates are going to be there but money is being raised is the main goal here a silent and Alive auction you were just discussing some really cool trips that people can take what are other ways that they can be involved with Uncorked for a cause yes Uncorked for a cause um I think I have to put on my social still but there's a there's a website that you can go Um can donate um you can I think purchase tickets to the event um but it's just a way to to give whatever you can um any any dollar any Penny helps um for these families that are going through it so um if you feel it in your heart we'd love to love to uh have people donate and I will make sure that the uh the link is up on my social media page and um I'm sure it'll be distributed among the team as well we're less than a month away from this event Cedric mullen's just hosting for Big League impact as well what do it meant for you this is your first step away from being a part of Milwaukee but to find yourself in a new community and still a way to connect and and support yeah Baltimore has been been great great to me and my family um you know family hasn't been here much because of the the birth of the twins but um it's felt like home you know you come in the the fan base is accepting me the teams acting me um it just makes it that much easier to get involved in the community um to get accustomed to this group of guys um and it's been it's been great um like I said looking forward to this event looking forward to the rest of the year and uh hopefully looking forward along along those uson BR Birdland is looking forward to all of those things as well again guys make sure that you don't miss out Corbin burns his wife Brooke hosting
