Tonight's Game is TOO IMPORTANT For Nalyssa Smith...

today is a massive and I mean massive game for an Alysa Smith because there were two big red flags this season when it came to Nelissa Smith it was one that she really underperformed and it wasn't even she under performed against Connecticut it was that it looked like she was disinterested playing against their girlfriend's team and also there's another factor that she got cooked by injuries like and when I mean cooked I mean absolutely cooked by Angel ree like Angel Reese she made Angel ree look like the best offensive player in the W like that is how badly Andre's cooked her 15 points in a quarter she made her look like age of freaking Wilson but this is going to be so important for her because Nelissa Smith the way she played against Connecticut I think like did she have the best game in the world no did she have a perfect game no did she assist D Carrington three times with turnovers yes but you can NE like someone having a good or a bad game happens in basketball like that is something that happens in basketball you can't control necessarily whether the ball goes in there are a lot of times like you can't control one of the times when she went and made like a goalkeeper save and she lands and some was it Alysa Thomas shoves her player into her and falls over and hands the ball to D for a layup like you can't like you can't prepare for that but what you can do is control your effort and it was the hardest I've seen the Lissa Smith play um all year and like her stats you would say if you looked at the stats that it wasn't a good game from her in that last game against Connecticut but if you watch the game you were like she did a really good job on Alysa Thomas and again this is someone who this season has been the worst defender in the w she only gave you 10 points six boards five fouls four turnovers you're like there's no way one assist like there's no way but this was a hugely like turnover heavy game like Clark had seven boss and four Smith had four hall had two and H Le H doesn't even dribble the ball and she had two fouls or two turnovers um but like she was everywhere like Nelissa Smith was everywhere on the floor she was going for boards I thought there were six loud rebounds and her and tamy fendley I thought did a great job on Alyssa Thomas and the funny thing is if you look at Alysa Thomas' stat seven of 11 from the field six assists six boards yeah she had four turnovers Alyssa Thomas in my opinion was terrible in this game I thought she was absolutely terrible and I thought a big reason for that was Alissa Smith but now she has her biggest challenge and it is to deal with anger a player that has absolutely like not that she's destroyed her multiple times but just absolutely destroyed her the last game and the thing is is that Indiana have done a really good job when it comes to Angel Reese of getting her off the offensive class like if you've seen the last game she had three offensive boards but again I think this was before the Chicago sky went into the tank kathon mode and she started averaging eight offensive boards a game um but like Nelissa Smith she had 12 five fouls seven boards but she just got cooked by injuries like the fourth quarter in this game if we want to look at how this game was like this was a game where you're like the fever should have won Caitlyn Clark hit a three hit a three to put them up 11 to start the fourth quarter um Caitlin Clark then hit a three but seven minutes to go to put them up 12 cardoo hit a shot but from here it was this was where in the Lissa Smith to small Angel Reese Angel Reese and one um Lindsey Allen hits a shot off a drive Angel ree score Kennedy Carter score Angel re score and one and Kennedy Carter scores or Kelsey Mitchell puts him up Kennedy Carter scores again they ISO Angel ree in the post with a minute to go for the lead scores cardo hit hits a free throw C hit a free throw aiyah Boston hits the flakiest three-pointer of my life and then Christy Wallace misses an open layup um but yeah that was that was how that game ended that game ended with Angel ree just going superh hero mode on Alissa Smith and I actually think this is a game where she does step up because my favorite thing about this game is that she's not going to get left on an island because I think she's done a good job of guarding Angel Reese and stopping the rebounds for stages games it was just that one stretch in the fourth quarter like she would had the better Avenger Reese up until seven minutes too in that game and it was and like even in the third quarter when andrees was scoring quite a bit of that was on um Katy L Samson so it is like it's going to be a tough match up and sha is tamy sha is Dam dantas who I actually think Dam dantas probably half decent match up for rer Reese because Dam dantos will at least put her body on the line I think OT Boston is a good match up for Ree and at least even if Dam STIs on the floor and lets her guard cardoso but we've got to just see a rebounding game like that's where you win this game if you keep them off the offensive glass you win it's going to be hard to keep them off the offensive glass because they're Brick Layers like this whole Chicago Sky Team are they're a gen they are at a generational level of Brick Layers like they are you could have built the Empire State Building with the bricks they shot since the break so when a team misses a bunch of shots they're bound to get offensive rebound so it's going to happen they just need to limit it like if the Lista Smith can get more defensive rebounds than Angel ree gets offensive rebounds in this game the fever win and it's not even about niss Smith dropping 20 points in this game because I actually think with the way she runs and cuts off ball with how little energy Angel ree is putting into defense nowadays um I think Nelissa Smith could get you 15 off just Caitlyn Clark hitner like I think when she's in that weak side situation where she's kind of just spotting up I think maybe once or twice in the game Dark to the basket because again Angel Reese cannot stop Nelissa Smith under the basket Andre is a terrible interior Defender and lelissa Smith when she cuts and can will be able to score quite easily on her because again as far as Ang's energy it's more so on the offensive end and like if she does she will occasionally try to lock people down but she's not playing the level of Defense she was the last time these two teams matched up so I think this could be a really important game for Nissa Smith and look you don't need to get she doesn't need to get a better AV Angel is Angel's going to shoot eight more shots a game as she is um on the stat sheet but in the minutes that Nissa Smith plays she's got to go toe to toad Angel especially this is someone that a lot of people talk about having All-Star potential being one of those elite elite players heck the number two pick in the uh 2022 draft and came in as the number two option for this team the number one like big option for the team so like there's got to be flashes there and even if she wants out of Indi IND she might want to stay she might want out if she wants out of Indiana this is the game to put yourself in the shop window like Indiana are not going to trade you for nothing they've already picked up the four TI option they're not going to trade you for nothing if you show that you're worth a first if you show that you're worth um a role player then if you want to get out of Indiana that's the best thing you can do heck and if you want to stay in Indiana hoop the rest of the season because I think the one position Indiana are trying to replace is probably you at the minute because Lexi Hull's confirmed in that starting lineup spot like she's been hooping this year so yeah it is it's a big game it's a really really big game for L Smith and I actually do think she plays quite well today so that's the
