Imperial Beach Hike: San Diego, USA - TiJuana, Mexico!

I'm at Imperial Beach today it's the southwestern most city in the United States it's just slightly down the coast from San Diego right on the border with Mexico and I'm going to do a little beach hike Adventure today it says on all Trails the all trails app that it's a little over five miles round trip but knowing me I'll probably go even farther and explore it's pretty much just a straight shot down on the beach going to take you guys along hopefully that you enjoy I haven't been out on one of these solo adventures in a while kind of mostly all summer I've just been busy doing um stuff with the franchise and work and the boys so I'm excited this is how I reset and recharge and I'm really happy to be out doing one of these again and hopefully you all enjoy coming along with me let's go so I'm starting off in a park near the pier it's 69° fahit today which is I think 25.5 de C so perfect for hiking it's supposed to be over cast till 11:00 it's 9:00 a.m. right now beautiful all right so I'm going to to set my all trails app so that it records the hike um at the beginning of every Adventure hike alone like this I always make sure to send Alex and Zach my location they don't like that I'm so close to the Mexican border but I told him there's nothing to worry about here we're right outside of neighborhoods in the US city not far from San Diego so I think they're being funny it's I'm not in Mexico but anyway I'm going to message them my location set the app and take you guys along I've never been down here before it's beautiful the waves are really crashing right now I hope yall can hear me okay it's probably pretty loud with the ocean but when I wear a microphone and I'm out in nature you can't hear any of the nature sounds which I actually don't like either with filming so I'm going to go ahead and take off my tank no reason to get tank lines and make my way down the beach there you can see San Diego we're not far there's downtown and then those towers are on Coronado Island across the bridge from downtown oh wow look at those birds I I believe these ones are called The Long build curly you see them around San Diego I haven't been around a pier in a long time I grew up going to Oceanside California and being on their Pier a lot and this one's really cool I'm really glad I got to see this one for the first time so fun being under it there goes the Lifeguard truck gorgeous day on the beach today not many people right now I think it's supposed to get up to like 73° f perfect way to start an adventure day there's another one of the long build I think what they're doing is when they're in the ground they're actually eating sand crabs from what I know they eat sand crabs and bugs I believe those are pelicans flying out there those are the Coronado Islands out off the coast they're actually the Mexican Coronado Islands I believe all right so in this part of Imperial Beach you can see it's mostly condos and a strip of private homes from what I know about it Imperial Beach was founded in 1887 and the founders were trying to create a resort town to attract people from the Imperial Valley which was booming with agriculture at the time it's been here for quite a while now looks like I'm going to have to switch into my sandals Tide's a little high it's coming right up against the properties here oh wow I think I see some Dolphins out there there they are [Music] oh that'd be crazy being out there with them oh is he going to see them they're getting pretty close there now he sees [Music] them oh that's so cool [Music] for the water all right I'm almost set I got my sandals on probably going to get wet it's beautiful to see the dolphins though earlier the lone Surfer out with the dolphins he just went in oh wow I think these are called White egrets there's a bunch of them on the Rocks over there oh they're so pretty oh I don't want to disturb him but that's right where I have to go I'll probably just sit and watch them for a second and then maybe I'll be able to scoop by without having them all fly off all right let's see if they'll stay or if they're all going to go so far so good oh there they go woo it's cold good thing I put my sandals on think I can make a run for it d hey all right I made it through the narrow point just got slightly wet wasn't too bad but look what's ahead of me there's Mexico I think that's Tijana beach in the distance uh pus the Tiana I think is how it said correctly my Spanish is pretty Rusty wow it's beautiful out here there must be a lot of fish or something out there I think those are seagull and Pelicans I keep seeing them dive and come back up with fish so many of them looks like a couple sand dollar I never see these around very often usually too many people collecting them on the beaches these are pretty especially against the yellow sand here another big shell yeah you don't see shells like this very off around here all right so I've been walking nearly an hour and I have I'm coming up on the Tijana River Estuary it's a national wildlife preserve no one else has been out here I'm the only one I had to switch my hat cuz even though it's overcast it's really bright for my eyes and I'm squinting a lot and so I have the biggest smile on my face like my cheeks are hurting from smiling but my eyes are starting to be a little irritated from squinting so much it's it's been so peaceful and beautiful out here a lot of birds saw Dolphins there's H sand dollars and shells along the beach here because just it's all in Disturbed starting to have a lot of views of Tijana in the distance as I'm getting closer I'm going to flip the camera so we're coming up on Tiana that's all of Tiana's Coast they're coastal cities but the main city of Tijana is actually past these Hills you can see some of the towers back there and then this is the River Estuary here so there you can see the top of the pier over there and then this is all the city of Imperial Beach I believe there's 27,000 people living in Imperial Beach and it definitely has a small small town Coastal feel and then over here I believe is a military airport right on the border with Mexico from what I've seen you can actually hike through the Estuary here and there are Trails out through there so that might be a future Adventure hike for me it looks really green and pretty I wasn't sure if it would be too dry and hot to be hiking out here I forgot I forgot to put on some sunscreen I had the boys put it on my back before I left but I forgot my front and I think I'm already getting fried in red yikes yeah I'm pretty sure I'm already getting red sewing backpack lines that's not good yeah hopefully it's not too bad later all right much better I'm going to keep moving along though get back down toward the water so scruffy might be time to trim a little bit oh this one's pretty I almost want to keep this one I think I see some more Dolphins out there hard to see him with the camera there they are [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] all right so I've come to the mouth of the Tiana River Estuary and there's so many birds it's so cool it's really really peaceful out here I've been the only one for quite some time now and other than the Tijana Skyline on the coast there in the distance it feels like I'm just out in the middle of nowhere with nobody else around can see Imperial Beach in the distance over that way and nobody but me exactly how I like it being out in nature like this I just saw another pot of dolphins out here as well so much Wildlife so I had to put my shoes back on I went Barefoot for a moment but my feet just end up hurting too much that's why I have these sandals now for hiking on beaches or anywhere that I know there's going to be mud or water Zach actually got them for me for my birthday they've been absolutely perfect on this I love them I was worried that they would rub and irritate my feet but they act they haven't at all and I like that the toes are protected so that I can actually use them on Hikes that have water and not worry about uh catching my toes on any rocks or anything I'm going to go up close to the mouth of the Estuary here closer to all the birds let's see if they all just hang about some of them have let me get pretty close and haven't been that bothered by me see how this view is all right so I'm now right up into the mouth of the Estuary it's really green and beautiful through here that's Tiana out in the distance there on that side over something over here must be some food or something switching out of my white shorts [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] The Lifeguard truck came around few people showed up too with looks like a dog and they're picking up some garbage otherwise it's just been me and the seagulls out here it's been really peaceful today I think I might do a little bit of reflection and meditation here and I brought a little bit of incense might burn some of that too it's a little bit windy so don't know how the incense will do but it's something I really love to do in our home anyway and a lot of times I like going up on the roof and having a quiet moment I have my journal in the backpack with me so I think I'm going to take advantage of having this area all to myself and the ocean and nature and really enjoy it make the best of it and then I'll probably start heading back down the beach seems like the sun's going to coming out soon toes in the sand best feeling in the world when I'm sitting but not when I'm walking around on the beach it drives me crazy but like this it's fine Sand's beautiful here though think some of the birds are hoping to have a little snack starting to creep around me all right so I had my little bit of alone meditation time it is perfect brought myself a little [Applause] treat just hanging out [Applause] all right this helps me a lot coming and being out here like this I don't get out to the outdoors nearly enough like I should but it's really good for me when I do I have a lot of anxiety a lot of the time and one of the best ways for me to kind of calm it down and have life feeling more in balance is to come out and spend time in nature a lot of times I need a little bit of time just by myself a lot of times I need someone to share it with and I really enjoy going with Alex or Zach or anyone else that likes to hike and go Outdoors but this really does feed my soul and I feel so good and so energized I think is the right word after I think there's so much in life that brings anxiety schedules and pressure and responsibilities and out here I can just let go for a little bit and bring some of that anxiety and that pressure back down so that life goes a little more smoothly I go to therapy regularly I've done some breath work courses with friends and Alex and Zach and I've been reminded by professionals and people that know me well that one of the best things I can do for myself is to come out and do this do my hikes do my outdoor activities do my solo Adventures where I'm able to reconnect with myself and remember that everything's okay that there's peace inside peace within I think everybody's life has stress no matter who they are and I feel very fortunate that I have a really nice life and a really a really good life with Alex and Zach and our little family living comfortably in San Diego a lot of people don't have that but my anxiety still comes on and the stress still comes on even if I know and feel like I am very blessed and have a good life ready to get back and tackle another week we're just heading into the weekend it's a Friday right now and there's a lot of exciting things going on with the franchise I've been worried about some things too and I do plan on sharing a lot more in the future but I'm kind of one that doesn't want to share too much until I feel like things are kind of really solid or a done deal I did the same with the relationship with Zach until we were officially dating Zach and a little bit established I didn't share too much with the public I feel like that's that's been important for emotional and mental well-being social media and sharing info with the public can be overwhelming at times if it's at the wrong time and so that that's why we haven't said much more as we're waiting for the right time and to feel very AA lished and secure in all that we're doing before we put what we're doing out in front of everyone else I think it's also important in life that you protect your energy it's not a secret what we're doing we're more protecting our energy while we focus on it and work hard on it and I am incredibly excited to share more about it I'm so proud of what we're doing our life has changed so drastically in the past year there's been a lot of growth a lot of healing a lot of hard moments that you know growth and change they can be hard they can be uncomfortable and we have we have made massive changes and and our life looks completely different now a year after we started our relationship with Zach and I'm so proud of Alex and Zach and myself the three of us so proud of all that we've accomplished in the last year and it's exciting it's exciting to be working on a future that you see yourself in and a future that you want to last a lifetime that's with career that's with relationship family it's it's a future I want and I'm working really hard on and I'm glad I'm able to share a little bit with you all and I hope soon I can share more more about the future that we're working on that's my little chitchat talk as I'm sitting here and reflecting on my life and everything that's going on and working to find contentment and peace in the journey thanks for joining me out here think I'm going to lay out for a moment and then hit the [Applause] road so many shells this is where the tide used to be just a little bit ago a lot more here since there aren't people to mess with them and pick them up pretty cool to see it like this all right now that I've had my fill of alone time I'm going to go ahead and start heading back walking down the deserted Beach okay so I wanted to share this with you because feel deserted but usually they're right up against the cliff here crazy California I've never seen so many dolphins in one dayc this kind of a beach in California that's deserted like this long flat stretches usually because the preserves right here there's no development everywhere else in California there's development if it's like this beautiful walk I hope I see more Dolphins I'm hoping I'll find it I'll eye and seal somewhere and I'll share it with you guys if I see one but hopefully more Dolphins certainly more birds I'm sure I'll see more shells and stuff too wow I wonder how many of them are out there seems like quite a few of them bunch of pelicans out there whole swarm of them diving for fish see if I can zoom in on him maybe you can see it better trying to catch them while they go there he goes that looks so cool made it back to civilization tid's a lot lower so it's not slamming against the Rocks like last time when I came through [Music] sun's coming out haven't been drinking enough water today red I'm getting pretty close to the pier again it's been kind of eerie having beaches like this that are just deserted completely empty it's a Friday afternoon here I think it's because it's late August so everybody's at school and work and the tourists are gone but also I think some of it same reason I didn't get in the water is there's a lot of pollution in this area coming from Mexico and I think it's literally caused it so that people aren't coming to the beach here and getting in the water pretty crazy if that's the case cuz that'd be terrible if you had some of this ocean front property and then people don't want to rent it out or you don't want to come out in the water because of pollution I'm going to have to look it up more I'll fill you guys in on what I find out but honestly very very strange having warm summer days and it's a weekend and there is nobody around all these condos I'm guessing there's a lot of rentals no one's here all right I'm coming up on the pier I think I'm going to just walk down it real quick out of curiosity want to see what the coast looks like from the end it's 12:30 now so I've been on this adventure going toward 3 and 1/2 hours and it's been fun but I'm ready for lunch and ready to go catch the weekend with the boys and catch up to them I think usually Fridays it's a pretty chill day and they have more like half days and I'm still wanting to hit the gym with Zach or Zach and Alex this afternoon so let's go check out the pier and then I'm going to head back to the car and that'll be my beach hike for the day very sleepy here I that's the tip where I was getting splashed right out there LIF guard tower all closed down I'm guessing we're not in season anymore and that's why it's this quiet 2% San Diego right there that's a rra made it to the end of the peer I made it back back in the car back getting some air conditioning the sun is out and I'm going to go catch up with Alex and Zach I had a really great time I went out on the pier at the end and walked a little bit through the town it's wild to me how quiet and sleepy and small town feel this is this is you know I think 20 minutes from downtown San Diego and it it is quiet here I'm sure it's not in season and stuff but there there are very few people and everybody actually seems very at ease very friendly um the hike was really fun went down the trail it was I did 5 miles total um had my my meditation self time layout time all kind of in the middle there for a little bit did some of my no clothes uh Beach time as well there's nobody around so I had it all to myself um enjoyed it in my birthday suit I'm known to do that so had it all to myself and figured why not I'd get some sun and not have tan lines uh saw Dolphins saw a lot of birds Pelicans um I think two Surfers and the lifeguards and a few other hikers and that was about it really calm beautiful peaceful day um yeah and I'm really glad I came down and saw this part of the coast I haven't seen empty California coast like this where it's just flat and nothing just me for for quite a while anyway going to head home and uh continue on with the weekend hope you guys all
