Live ATP Rankings Update | Djokovic's Perfect Season Continues

more content during the Grand Slams the Masters etc as you may know we recently passed 2,000 subscribers which is quite a huge achievement for me really so yeah thank you very much for your continued support and I'm glad to have each and every one of you here this week we are going to have a rankings update our last one was after the Australian Open a few tournaments have been played Dubai and Acapulco have now finished March is quiet a like a quiet month in the sense that there's not many tournaments happening however there are two massive massive tournaments both Masters 1000 so yeah we're going to see the rankings now going into those tournaments as always I'm going to set you guys a target of a hundred thumbs up you guys have never let me down always smashed it so yeah and without further ado let's roll the intro [Music] so let's look at the live ATP rankings the top two have remained the same both winning ATP 500 titles this past week Novak Djokovic still remaining world number one on 10,000 220 points Rafa Nadal in second place on 9850 roughly 400 behind Novak this is now the fifth week going into Novak stint which puts him on 280 weeks as well number one really closing in on Pete Sampras who's on 285 weeks of course we know Rogers on 310 but he needs to pass Sampras first and I'm sure that all of you guys agree that it's really a question of when rather than if he's definitely he gonna pass Sampras I mean I'd be very shocked if he doesn't and then of course he can focus on trying to catch Roger Federer this next month will be for me very good for Novak he's not defending many points at all in Miami and Indian Rose Rafa is defending more and the way Novak is going I mean look he is already on 18 consecutive victories for 2020 so he's played 18 he's won 18 and if you go back to last year as well where he won those three Davis Cup ties he is on a 21 match win streak this is the seventh time in Novak's career he's gone past 20-plus win streaks so that's another sign of you know consistent periods of dominance here and there as you may know his highest is at 43 consecutive wins which happened in the 2011 season where he actually started the season with 41 consecutive wins with his first defeat of 2011 coming at the French Open in the semi-final against Raja I'm sure we can all remember that finger wagging of Roger in that tournament so yeah let's see how how far he can go with this current year and I want to ask you guys a question could this be a game-changing year for Novak looking at the way he's playing you know he's already played Rafa is played Roger he's played since he passed Medvedev dominic team and he's already secured victories against every single one of them he's played Gael Monfils a couple of times another top 10 player so I mean looks it's past Monfils that's to a team Federer for Rafa Medvedev Montrese again so that's seven top ten wins already this season so he is looking like a man on Form and honestly like I think going into the sunshine double this would be a amazing opportunity for Novak not really put this season - the best possible start he has the most sunshine doubles ever he has he has won them four times back to back Roger has actually won it three times and then there's been a couple of other players now have won it once like come back sunshine doubles so I mean he's not one Miami and Indian Rose for a couple of years now so yeah I mean you can't really look past Novak so yeah let me know what you guys think could this be one of those dominant tears like 2011 or 2015 where no we're just cleans up house it's it's looking that way right now as you may know this past week he has been playing Dubai he won the title there he played Stephano city bass in the final and won in straight sets Djokovic actually started the tournament really strong he's opening three matches 6-1 6-2 6-3 6-1 6-2 6-2 against Hatchin all so he looked really good for him then Monfils came and just just was playing incredible took the first set 6-2 against Novak in the second set it was a tie break monfriez actually led the tiebreak 6-3 he had three match points three consecutive match points two on his own serve Novak came back you know that mental strength of this guy and then they eventually won the tiebreak ten eight and then won the third said quite comfortably 6-1 and then you're back to straight sets again stefanos fun fact for you guys this is the fifth time that the Dubai Open final has been played by the world number the seeds number one and number two and the first four times the second seed beat the first seed so this is actually the first time that the first seed came through and beat the second seed quiet very interesting fact and when I first read about it I was like whoa but yeah good stuff from Novak Djokovic there Ruffin the DAO he was playing in Acapulco of course for not as strong of a field as Dubai but that takes nothing away from it you have to pick smartly your schedules he was in even more dominant form in acapulco just blitz the field did not even lose a set the entire tournament and actually he won three of his matches the exact same scoreline 6-3 6-2 including a semifinal win against Grigor Dimitrov and a final victory against Taylor Fritz Taylor fits you know young America and I I do think he has a big future ahead of him and reaching ATP 500 finals it will it will do good for him but yeah that's the top to nothing really has changed the next possible chance for Rafa is of course in Indian realms where he will need to win the tournament to have any chance but that will come in next week's video where I preview Indian Rose third place we have a new world number three of course a career-high for dominic team on seven thousand and forty five points he did not win Rio but it was made easier for him at the fact that unfortunately as you know Roger Federer has been sidelined now and till the grass sees and he will not be playing any tournament before grass so he can really plummet down Dominick team you know I mean being third and fourth is quite similar but he had career high congrats to him and let's see how he pushes on now if he can maybe start challenging Rafa and Novak at the top Roger Federer in fourth place on 6630 of course it's gonna lose about another 3,000 points so he's really going to plummet over the coming months we all wish him a speedy recovery fifth sixth is Medvedev and six past two of the most you know intriguing players youth when you think of future world number ones future Grand Slam winners you're thinking of the new Medvedev and Cincy pass Djokovic himself has come out and said that he does see traits in City Pass to be a future world number one Medvedev he's been on a bit of a slump lately so it'll be interesting to see how he performs in the Sunshine double after the second half of the season he had last year he actually had a chance for well number one however he does not seem to be making up the most of it and if he carries on like this come the second half of this season he could plummet down the rankings as low as he is defending an awful lot of points but he's on five eight nine zero with city bass on 4745 Sasha's Vera and Matteo Bertini finish off the roundup the top eight now one thing I'd like to ask you guys is if you look at the rankings Barrett Eenie and Gael Monfils in ninth place they actually have the exact same number of ranking points so Barrett Timmy has two thousand eight hundred and sixty likewise Monfils two thousand eight hundred and sixty I'd want to ask you guys why is it that Barrett teenie is ahead of Monfils I highly doubt it's because of alphabetical order if you look at the ATP website it does say that Barrett teeny has played 21 tournaments in the past 365 days I'm assuming and Monfils had played 22 tournaments so is that a reason why Barrett Eenie is ahead simply because he's played one less tournament but if anyone actually knows the real reason for that please do leave a comment below and let me know why Bertini is ahead of month using the ranking even though they're on exactly the same points but yeah that's the top eight we look at some of the other big movers this week ten efforts of course reaching the final in acapulco he's moved up eleven places he is now world number 24 Dimitra moved up three he's back in the top twenty now well number 19 Hatchin up back in the top 16 as well looking a bit further down Dan Evans has now climbed up nine spaces to well number 28 into the seeding rankings for slam so that can only help him kurios one of the biggest losers 16 places dropped of course he was defending the Acapulco victory from last season so understandable he's now world number 39 but yeah that's the rankings update for you guys please do let me know what you think looking at the Djokovic situation he does look pretty pretty good I mean other than that match against maan theories he was sublime pretty much in Dubai an amazing start to the season yet again and yet it's looking like it could be another one of those dominant Djokovic years he has come and said I mean as a joke he said he wants to go the season undefeated that's just a joke I'm sure you'd want that it's not gonna happen though but yeah an incredible start so yeah let me know what you think is this distinct now for
