Purdue Football 2024 In Depth Full Season Preview

Intro [Music] boiler maker fans welcome into the channel this is the big time boiler it has been a while since I've actually made a professional semi-professional video um on this channel the last few I've done for my car um life's been pretty busy um for me especially with work and my family um it's harder and harder to make these videos from an actual uh sit down in the studio if you will and uh you know record a decent uh video so but I had alluded to that I promised that I would make a season preview um in somewhat detail fashion and kind of go through the schedule kind of give a win loss prediction and um kind of look at the depth chart so without further Ado that's what we're going to do and I and I've kind of before I get into all that I've kind of mentioned on a couple previous videos that um well Purdue has been picked I think by most the media members and honestly most other fans of the Big 10 um to finish near or at the bottom of the Big 10 conference in the official poll um they are picked 18th which I honestly think is pretty absurd um considering that they return a quarterback pretty good quarterback probably a top six quarterback in the Big 10 two starting running backs um and four offensive line starters in allamerican safety and the third leading sack getter in the Big 10 and kaer Jenkins I mean that's a lot of pieces to be finished 18th yeah I know the schedule's kind of brutal which we'll talk about a little bit but um I don't think this is the last place Big 10 team uh the Big 10 Network guys during their campus tours and I know you know that can be a um kind of pump full of um propaganda if you will about some big 10 teams but and they're not always I guess um totally honest but I mean they I mean Dave rev revon who's pretty pretty accurate you know was like no way shape or form is this Purdue football team last in the Big 10 and honestly it's not close I mean to me that tells me this this is a middle of the- pack bigton team um but you will say that schedule is kind of daunting so I think that's why people are trying to you know somebody's got to be 18th so they're picking an 18th and honestly you know what if they want to pick us at 18th that's totally fine because that motivates the players motivates the coaches and gives them a chip on their shoulder which I'm okay with you know I'd rather be almost picked 18th and like 12th you know you're pick 12th you're kind of eh you know what I mean so um yeah so basically what this video is going to entail first we're going to break down the depth chart we are now at the point where the official depth chart has been released um there are a few injuries so it's not necessarily um full strength depth chart but uh we'll go over that you know I actually did create a b um a depth chart that I posted on Golden black um probably a month ago about my guesses about who would start who won it and I wanted to do a video before like before the week of the game um that kind of went over that but unfortunately did not get a chance to do so uh but I think I am GNA still bring it up because I think that is the ultimate Purdue depth chart what it's going to be like at full strength although as you'll see um there are a few key um players that I did not mention that are actually gonna play a pretty big role this fall let's take a Season Outlook Depth Chart look at the depth chart that I made myself um about a month ago as I think like I said I think at full strength this is and I still think it is this is kind of Purdue's um ultimate uh lineup all right so yeah this is uh this is who I had on offense um probably left tackle is gonna be Cory Stewart Mohamed Musa at left guard although there sounds like there might be a uh kind of battle going on there Gus Harwick back at Center DJ Wingfield Right Guard and Marcus bow at the the right tackle um key backups Joey to uh bacon Coley who I had at third string here is actually he's sounds like he's impressed Luke Griffin Jaylen gr who started last year and Josh sales seem to be your kind of key um contributors then probably Jimmy liston's the backup actually J Jaylen Grant's probably honestly the backup center so your top four guys um are probably Joey Tona Luke Griffin Jaylen Grant and Josh Sals when it comes to backups and then Jaden ball the true freshman actually sounds like he's doing really well um he will be in there and excuse me as as long as well as a beckon Coley who has really uh changed his body I think he's up 310 after coming in like 265 and he is impressed the coaches so I mean right there honestly that's what that's uh 1112 offensive lineman I mean that's for Purdue that's kind of unheard of last year we were down to like I think Five Guys Gus Hartwick at one point played right tackle that's how banged up we were um tight end Max cla's back healthy that's big time uh George Buran who came on late of the year he's kind of banged up right now but his probably going to be your number two tight end and then Drew Biber um your third string uh wide receiver number one Jamal edin um he is back and hopefully better than ever um he obviously tore his ACL week one of training camp last year in the in the early U I guess early fall or late summer if you will um he's back supposedly he's the real deal I've heard from various sources that he is a big time receiver so I can't wait see him uh number two wide receiver is probably CJ Smith Who's Gonna Miss game one um one of the Georgia transfers Big Time Speedster and also if you play college football 25 he's one of the best players on there uh the slot wide receiver is interesting um I had Jaden Dixon V on here he's I he actually has missed a few weeks due to injury um that's why I don't think he's gonna be on the dep chart watch I don't know if he is on the dep chart for week one we'll take a look at that in a second but um he's kind of banged up right now he kind of had a really good spring um cam Brown's the other guy that they kind of have high helps for transfer from UCLA he's been injured all spring um and summer I think he just started practicing a week or two so again he probably won't play week one um Andrew swinsky is in there Mr reliable um dialon Morisette I had um another Georgia transfer draon tibs who's actually gonna start and then I had Tomar Harris on there who looked pretty good in the spring and the guy that I did not even have on there again is Shamar rgy who's going to start um Hudson car no surprise at quarterback Devon makabe Reggie love in the backfield and the blocker is going to be Ben ferney on the defensive side of the ball um I think again at full strength you're gonna see Joseph Anderson one of the DN spots Cole Bard or Mo at the nose tackle uh Jeffrey ma or inba excuse me at the other DN spot but there's gonna be a lot of rotation here I mean you're gonna have Demar J Lewis uh Spider Dinkins the Kentucky transfer uh true freshman demo Kennedy who's impressed is gonna play um you might see some Joe Strickland in there but that's your your kind of main stay guys um now the edge rushers again this is a a unique Purdue defense this is like a five almost like a 515 U they'll occasionally go um 42 five um but it's gonna be interesting because they brought again we mentioned earlier I mentioned earlier kaijen Jenkins who was the third leading sack getter in the Big 10 last year I think he had like nine sacks I want to say they moved him from Edge to probably his NFL position middle linebacker so he's going to start at middle linebacker Yanni kofus who I think has improved greatly is going to be probably a Quai starter depending on the formation um that's why I actually have 12 people mentioned here on the depth chart um and I think kaij jenss probably is gonna rush the passer on third down so there's gonna be some kind of unique things there but you're outside rushers um I had CJ Madden starting and will will hel obviously I think is going to start it's going to be the guy there but the other uh the other starter sounds like it's going to be sheta CLE um who's really impressed of late he's going to be the starter was CJ Madden who's banged up a little bit backing him up um again another guy to look out for is Gyra aada who I believe was at Franklin College last year which is a D3 school put up absolute monster numbers the last three years and he looked pretty good in the spring game I think he might be a situational pass rusher your quarterbacks nylon green was going to be the guy I think that was going to be a a your day one starter how ever he got hurt hurt his foot he's going to miss week one so tyion Grant who I actually had as a his backup is going to be the starter that's a true freshman early and rly five star this guy was supposed to be a uh 2025 recruit end up reclassifying I think though he was actually supposed to be normally in the 2024 class years ago I'm not exactly sure what happened there so he's actually of age uh to be a true freshman he's going to start which is is pretty cool um your other Corner revus Brown who's now going to be number one until nylon green gets back um backing up him I had like Derrick Rogers um your safeties and your star position kri Be Love excuse me kyric Breedlove com coming over from Colorado backed up by KY beas turn Mohammad Dyan thaman at your free safety your absolute stud safety there and then Antonio Stevens at the other safety then kicker I thought Spencer porat would could be the guy with Ben free Hill backing him up and then Keen Gans the punter um who is transferred from Mississippi State with RJ Lopez in the kickoff and Nick Levy is the Long Snapper who Nick came from I can't even William and Mary I think he came from I could I could be wrong on that he transferred from so that is what the depth chart that I had um now with that let's actually go over to the actual depth chart of um week one because it is a little different Week 1 Depth Chart all right the official depth chart um and I won't go over this inom uh completely but obviously know card makabe reggi love they have an ore next to Reggie love and makabe again I think that's gonna be a one-w punch Shamar Rigby big surprise there starting receiver again CJ Smith hurt Leland Smith is backup drawn tibs is going to start um in front of swinsky and Marc Jamal Edan again I think he's going to be number one receiver Max CLA they got Drew Biber backing him up George Bam's hurt I don't know I've said that he he missed quite a bit of the spring and fall early fall late summer they're probably gonna get him along slowly Cory Stewart they have starting left tackle he got bang up a little bit too so I wouldn't be surprised Joshua s starts there for week one and get week one this is like a preseason game honestly with Indiana State and especially it's a preseason game in the sense of that they don't we have a byee puru got a bye week two before playing Notre name week three and that's pretty advantageous um Ryan Walters would actually quoted saying you know at first he didn't like that uh week two buy and originally Peru actually had a week one buy um they got it switched where Indian States now you know they move the IND State game so they have a week two by but Walter said you know originally I didn't like that um now I love it because guys with the soft tissue injuries like nylan green CJ Smith you know or even a Corey Stewart um or even George Burham you know they can rest these guys they don't need them week one rest them don't even play them and then get them and then in the bye-week let him r as well and then get him back for game prep of the week of Notre Dame Musa the left guard Gus Hartwick uh DJ Wingfield and Marcus B so no changes there really um a guy to keep an eye on though again is um bigon COI I don't know if I'm saying his name right apologize to Coy um apparently has turned heads he's he's kind of like you ever played college football back in the day um your your offensive lineman that went from like a 71 to like got nine points in the offseason it's down 80 it sounds like he's kind of made that kind of jump um and then another guy that's impressed is Joey Tanana who fourstar Notre Dame recruit years ago played at zanville high school got in a car wreck it was the passenger I believe um got pretty banged up I think from like more from a head injury aspect retired from football for two years decided want to play came back he's got uh his playing weight was going to be the question apparently he's already at 300 lbs so he he's he's got there uh defensive side of the ball uh again no big changes there from when I went over you got Jeffrey imba Cole Bard or Mo they have Joe Anderson or Jamar J Lewis will will H one of the edges Jenkins at the linebacker spot with Yanni uh they do have sh cay at the rush end with CJ mat and Trey Smith Trey Smith came over from Illinois as the backups RI is browns with Derrick Roger Jr who played a lot last year as his backup Dylan thaman with Joseph Jefferson Antonio Stevens lead Turner muhamad uh will be his backup breed love they got Ki Beasley in the two deep here that's nice um Teran Grant starting with boas allesandro is his backup uh special teams the kicker situation is going to be interesting they have Ben freeh Hill or Spencer poras so I think we'll see both of those guys week one uh kerans no surprise there at punting and then kick return Reggie love and Elijah Jackson Elijah Jackson is one of the walk-on running backs who's got a lot of speed P returner Dylan thaman which I like and then swinsky backing him up some people were a little uh are worried that thean is gonna get hurt I mean I I Cooper jene you know he he fed a pun so I don't think there G be a problem there but with that yeah that's the uh that is the official depth chart of Purdue football so hopefully that wasn't too boring give this is kind of a deep dive um what I Roster Outlook really want to talk about now I'm kind gonna go off the cuff here and talk about um Purdue um I think this is a pretty overall talented roster I really do um you know there's been some some things in the past where you look at the depth chart um and you see some holes I really don't see a lot of holes in this Purdue depth chart at all I mean wide receiver room there's a lot of talent there now granted a lot of it may be not be a lot of is not experienced um but you got some Talent so if those pieces can fit which I think is going to be a key theme if those the key theme is if those pieces can fit I think that's your key theme um you're gonna have a pretty good unit there um especially if CJ Smith can get back healthy pretty quickly against another Dame uh you're gonna have a pretty good unit and cam Brown too I think cam Brown's gonna be an important piece as well but and then you got Shamar Ry who came out of nowhere if that guy can be a good player that'll be great and then another name I've not mentioned Leland Smith juko transfer but I think at one point played for TCU as a walk-on uh maybe on the championship team or the championship game team they had he is uh he's turned some head too turned some heads as well so pretty exciting unit I think um we'll see how it goes there but in then running back you got mcke and you got Reggie love a great one-two punch um true freshman Merryweather you know I went back and watched the spring game he's got he's got some burst and pop to him you know I I do wish that perue had a little more options at running back not so much as a onew guy but a third or even fourth guy there's not a lot of depth there um behind Merryweather is a bunch of Walk-Ons who who have some potential but again they're not even they're not even upper classman Walk-Ons they're like I think red shirt true red shirt freshman excuse me um you'd like to see another a guy like aale and Downey I think would have been nice to keep around um but even if they brought in a guy with similar stats even with some potential that's maybe an upper classman that would have been great they chose not to go that route um hopefully doesn't bite them um if injuries happen there that might be an issue but we'll see uh quarterback room I think you're obviously gonna be very good with Hudson card I think with this improved offensive line he's gonna be a stud probably a top five quarterback in the Big 10 or the big 18 if you want to say um he better not get injured though if he gets injured we're in for a long year um backup is gonna be Ryan Brown who actually now I think about it I don't think I went over the quarterback on the dep chart I made I had Marcus Davila as the backup because I thought that was kind of what the talk was going into the camp sounds like Brown's gonna be the guy to back him up now if if if let's say I don't want to say this but if there's a big time injury um you know there's a lot of season left to go maybe they go with Deva I think Brown's probably the guy that you know if if Hudson misses a game or a quarter or whatever they're going to insert Brown um but we'll see from a starting standpoint though we're great there tight end room same Max CLA uh he's gonna have a big year he's healthy ready to go uh George Burham is gonna be a talent he I think was two like 20 last year he's now 260 so he's gained a lot of weight he's very athletic he was like a a hurdles champion in high school um Drew Bieber's a pretty solid third guy so I like the tight end room I like the wide receiver I like I like pretty much the whole offense offensive line though is where really like it and people if you talk to some other people in the Big 10 they don't know that Purdue's got a pretty solid offensive line there was so many injuries last year so many injuries in the offensive line again like I said earlier Gus Hartwick he was playing right tackle your starting center was playing right tackle they started off the season with not only harwig out for a couple games Colton breger was out the backup center was out for the first game um so we had our third string Center against Fresno State and unfortunately um he was okay okay but you know he he like I think he joined the team late he didn't even come in may like he came in like almost July so he' been there for like a month and he was the starting center so tons of injuries last year Bo went down against Iowa Musa was pretty much banged up all year so that was very much a shredded unit they got four returning starters though and it sounds like you know jayen Grant probably is gonna be a backup so you got three returning starters that are going to start and then you got two trans Cory Stewart who graded out very well for Ball State as your left tackle I think he had like an 80 PFF grade from pass blocking and then DJ Winfield another very highly rated PFF guy from New Mexico is probably going to start at Right Guard these guys are all like over 64 300 pounds I think it's going to be pretty good unit and like we talked about earlier tons of depth they have tons of depth there um you know they can go two or three deep honestly at most positions so that's I don't know when the last time I've said that about a pretty offensive line so I think the pieces are there I really do I think this is going to be a good Purdue football team on the offensive side of the ball U defensive side of the ball there's a little more question marks in my opinion here I think secondary is going to be much improved um almost by default they got more bodies there they got got a lot of guys that were firsttime starters last year back um guys like even uh Derek Rogers and alesandro you know they're pretty good backup pieces um you got a true freshman tyan Grant we'll see how he does he's going to start you got KY Beasley who's going to be a piece a good depth piece there I'm probably gonna play uh breed love coming over as well as nylan Green from transfers um I think you got you know pretty good uh mixture there at the corners and then safeties you got Dylan thean obviously back who's apparently gaining some weight he's gonna be much improved Ryan Walters actually says the difference between him from last year to this year is night and day and that that's kind of scary I mean he could be we could have an alltime here folks um at safety and then Antonio Stevens who played quite a bit last year he did it okay he did pretty good so I think he's going to be okay at safety um so I think secondary is going to be improved linebacking unit I think will be about well it be improved because Jenkins is there now um pretty much it was Yanni last year now it's Yanni and Jenkins that's gonna be a better unit I'm excited to see how jenin does at linebacker and also interested to see interested to see um how many times he actually rushes the passer from like the edge spot um we'll see there defensive lines is obviously where the big questions are mainly because you lose Nick scorton you lost Nick scorton which was a big loss um he's not there he went to and this system though allows a lot of one-on ones and you kind of Wonder obviously scor's a freak um he's project I think he's projected first round I've seen him as high as like top 10 in this coming up draft um but this syst I think also did Nick um did him some favors so you know hopefully does the same thing for guys like sh sheta uh CJ Madden and will um but as of right now I just I just don't know if this unit's going to be as good we'll see defensive uh end and uh nose tackle spots nose tackle guys are all back from last year that should be improved then your DNS you lost Malik langum and you lost um oh who H I think really Mal oh uh Jeffrey U I'm drawing a blank but I think there was one other guy they lost oh Nichols excuse me Isaiah Nichols um they lost those two guys to graduation pretty decent pieces it's funny though coming in you know they weren't really heralded trans you got Demar Lewis hopefully back healthy Joe Anderson hopefully Healy healthy now uh spider denin from Kentucky I think you got some pieces there you got some bodies will it good be as as long as it's as good as last year I think this team's gonna be in pretty good shape um special teams last year from The Kicking and punting standpoint was pretty much a disaster Ben freehill had a blood clot issue he actually though if he I'll give him credit he finished the year pretty good once he actually got back into um the swing of things got over those blood clots he he has some clutch field goals against IOU you know if they Trot him out there I'm pretty comfortable with Ben freehill I think he's a pretty decent kicker I think they wanted Spencer porf to win the job it didn't happen as of right now they have an or next to their name on the depth chart um so I think this is gonna be a kicking battle going into week three probably they'll see how they do uh week one and make a decision there um punting un I think is going to be better than last last year I think they like kerans more they did anel and you know I think the coverage units are going to be coverage unit last year was fine I think they're going to be just as good so I again I think this team I is pretty pretty solid I think they got good pieces they got good depth um there's some star Talent here with card makabe um thaman Jenkins potentially Jamal Adan um so again I think this team's good so now let's talk about we're 25 minutes in or 20ish minutes in let's talk about the schedule Schedule Predictions because this is where anybody's not a Purdue Fan's like well you know their schedule so hard which again it is somewhat difficult I'm not going to say it's not but let's actually you know look at it and really go over it and say hey is it as bad as maybe we think all right so let's look at the schedule BR starts off this weekend against any estate that should be a blowout we don't really even have to talk about that and then they have a week two which again I think at first we didn't like it now we like it get those guys healthy um really again this is almost like a it's it's basically a glorified preseason game this Indian State game so you know get up on them big pull the starters you know let's be 28 nothing at some point in the second quarter halftime 357 35 nothing whatever those guys hopefully won't see the field in third quarter and if anybody's sort of dinged up don't even play them just hold them back and let them get two weeks of rest and then I think one of the biggest games actually the next two weeks week three and week four to me are two of the biggest games on the schedule um Notre Dame Purdue plays Four top 10 teams and that's that's part of the that's part of the reason why the schedule is so tough um four top 10 teams Notre Dame is the first top 10 team they play at home 330 game a week after the buy now Notre Dame plays Texas A&M on the road week one this weekend I think it's a night game I believe that's going to be a tough game good environment there um again on the road and then week two I think they play at home against Northern Illinois who again Northern Illinois has always been a pretty uh decent ma program so I mean they Notre is probably gonna blow him out but it might be a little more competitive than uh people think then they gotta play Purdue so Purdue is g to be sitting there for two weeks they get they get a watch no inter name at night probably on Saturday and then they get to watch him week two they get to completely Scout him and not only that Notre Dame is GNA have to bring out the entire Playbook against Texas A&M um Pur will not have to bring that out against IND state so I think there's a big Advantage here that's why I honestly think out of those four top 10 games and three the nice thing about that is three of those games are at home out of the four top 10 games I think this Notre Dame game I think this might be the game where we can get an upset an upset City now if Notre Dame loses to Texas A&M are they going to be a top 10 team I don't care if they or not who cares they probably still going to be ranked ranked number seven right now um so Circle that game but let's be realistic here puru um probably loses so they're going to be one onone now Purdue's got to go to Oregon State 8:30 kickoff the next week in Corvalis Oregon state has like two returning starters from last year's teams they're kind of in they're they're in chaos they they've obviously well technically they're still in their conference Pack 12 really it's the pack two um and I think they have to I don't know what's going on with that conference but any anyway they're playing like a mountain uh I think Mountain West schedule I believe is what they're playing but that team's that team's kind of a mess um I don't know what to expect they actually they'll research him I haven't done a deep dive on these guys but they actually look like they've got a pretty decent uh transfer portal class incoming so hey they could be salty we'll see but I think puru is gonna win that game at the very least I think Purdue is gonna be three in or excuse me two- one um going into the Nebraska game uh and wouldn't it be a very Purdue thing if we beat an Indi State beat upset under Dame and then lose to Oran State um but hey I'll take I you know if if that's what happens I'll take it man two and one I think two- one is very key for the first three games um you got to be two in one going to Nebraska and then you got Nebraska which I believe is homecoming um noon game now this Nebraska should be an approved team which of course we've been saying that for like 10 years now um but this is going to be Nebraska first road game which they have a true freshman uh stud well supposed stud quarterback in riola this is his first true Road game so hey that could be a test I got Purdue winning this game I got Purdue being three in one so hey we're three in one going into Wisconsin um now this is going to be a road game we've not beaten Wisconsin since 2003 on the road or might have been 2004 I always get that wrong I think it was 2000 no it was 200 it was 2003 2003 is uh last time we beat Wisconsin on the road 21 years later can we do it again um I'm G to say no until we actually beat Wisconsin so three and two on the road against Illinois I think this Illinois team is not all that good and honestly um they're probably I would pick them towards the bottom of the Big 10 I think Purdue handles business gets the win we are now four- two so the first half of the schedule were four- two hey that's pretty good but again we haven't played the three tops 10 teams uh Oregon comes into town on a Friday night um they'll probably be a top five team at that point they are right now but they'll probably stay a top five team now they do play Ohio State the week before so they got a home game against Ohio State on Saturday um that is g to be an emotional game win or lose um then they got to travel to West lopette on a Friday night for a Friday night game still though I'd love for Pur to win this game but I can't pick that I can't pick that upset so Pur will be four and three going to Northwestern um let me back up a little bit after the Oregon game Peru's got a buy so that's actually a pretty good spot for a buy game or buy week excuse me uh then we got Northwestern playing Purdue I think Purdue should win that game Northwestern I think played u a little bit over their skis last year I don't think they're going to be very good this year Purdue is gonna win that game making them five and three now four games left we gotta play at Ohio State puru is probably gonna lose that game um that is GNA make us five and four home game then the following week against Penn State who will probably again be a top 10 team um that's probably gonna be a tough one to win I do think that Purdue might be able to beat either Notre Dame or P pennstate I think they get one of those games so we'll say a loss though um making them five and five so this is kind of I think the key of the season I think Purdue at the very least needs to be five and five going into the last two weeks the last two weeks are Road games at Michigan State and at IU I think at the very least they can win one of those games so if they're five and five I think we're gonna be in great shape um and for this for this um podcast if you will let's have some fun Purdue beats Michigan State and beats IOU they're seven and five hey I mean honestly seven and five to me um is not necessarily the ceiling I think the ceiling would be as I just said a minute ago Purdue beats either Penn State or they beat Notre Dame that puts them now at eight and four um do I think that's gonna happen probably not but I think seven honestly I think seven and five is is very attainable I really do I think I said that in a video I made months ago uh seven and five is attainable guys um will it happen I don't know six and six if six and six happens let's just say uh every prediction I said went right and then we lose to Michigan State and beat IU hey to me that's a great season six and six a bowl game is the goal a bll game is 100% the goal six wins if Purdue even if Purdue got five wins I think it would be somewhat of a um I don't want to say a success because to me five and seven a losing records not necessarily hey we had a great year I think it would be though an improvement on um last year well obviously an improvement it' be a tougher schedule this year and we would win an extra game so let's just say um you know if Peru got if the same results happened and Peru lost to Oregon State but beat IU and lost to Michigan State that's five wins I mean that would be a pretty decent year I think would I be disappointed probably um and again a lot of this too I hate to say it but like a lot of this um comes down to how healthy can produce St I think there is a little bit more depth this year that we can like sustain a couple guys missing a game or two we cannot sustain any games missed or we cannot handle any games without Hudson card we need Hudson card close to 100% all year that's the big thing Hudson has to stay healthy for for for this seven and five to happen um that's my opinion at least so that's the schedule Final Thoughts there so with that um you know it's been about 30 minutes it's kind of been a deep dive again seven to5 I think is somewhat realistic if Purdue stays healthy six and six um so where would I put the floor um probably the floor to me would be well if Purdue stays relatively healthy I think puru is gonna at least win four games so I would put the floor around four the ceiling at eight I think four four and eight eight and four is the your your floor and ceiling um ratio there now things obviously if hudon I'm not gonna say it but if major injuries happen that ceiling can obviously excuse me that floor can get lowered but we're we're going to hope that doesn't happen um as far as this week weekend against Indiana State I guess we we we'll tap in in Indiana State preview I don't really know much about Indiana State I know they've struggled the last few years I think they won one game last year if I recall if it if if they won a game at all I'm pretty sure it was just one they're not a very good team Purdue beat these guys I think 56 to nothing um in 2022 with Aiden oconnell I expect to have a similar game uh maybe not 56 nothing probably like 49 to7 49 to 10 you know we'll see how how deep Purdue gets in in the depth chart but I think Purdue should handle business pretty easily um what I am most looking forward to seeing is I want to see the offense I want to see them uh you know run the ball down their throat they're probably going to be pretty vanilla I I want to see how R does I'm really interested to see how edin does Adin does excuse me um and the rest of the wide receivers um to me a successful game plan would be hey let's run the ball let's do some play action basic stuff you know let's get a couple touchdowns on the board in the first quarter let's get some turnovers and shut um shut them out and you know let's get uh a 28 35 something you know let's get in the 30s going in the halftime and then let's pull the starters and then then third in third quarter let's play Ryan Brown at quarterback and let's score another couple touchdowns and then fourth quarter let's play Dila and then let's rotate kickers see how they do I think that's kind of the game plan right and then be healthy get no injuries going in a week uh two the buy rest these guys up and again if there's anybody that's kind of on the fence questionable or even like somewhat probable just rest them you don't really need him against Indiana State so I like this week two buy it actually is pretty nice especially because there's two byy weeks this year now if this was if this this was the only by week on the schedule that would be a problem that would not be a good thing um I would not take that trade-off but because there's like a a by week between I think it was a week what after week seven it's a great time for buy after the Oregon game that's right so uh looking forward to this season man I really am I think this is going to be a good year um I think we need it to be a good year to help recruiting um to attract more talent I think Purdue Athletics right now is in a good spot with puru bass going to the final four it sounds like we have like the most season ticket sales we've ever had in a long long time so every game should be pretty close to a sellout which is gonna be awesome I mean you got some big time teams coming in here too like Notre name Oregon and um Penn State and then North besides Northwestern pretty much every team coming into West offia it's a pretty pretty big name including Nebraska so great home schedule man um looking forward to it football's here we finally made it I think Purdue people are sleeping on this Purdue football team and I love that the guys and coaches are using this motivation I think Ryan Walter said it best I don't know what he said exactly his exact quote but he's basically said you know uh let's go out and show them week one I'm pretty sure their message was screw the media uh that was that that's kind of their hey let's show these guys how good we really are so I think that's a great message it's kind of like Northwestern last year not the same circumstances but hey everybody thought Northwestern was going to win maybe one game last year and they won eight so that really can I mean if you play sports you know adversity can really um especially in the offseason can really get guys buying in and get a close-nit group and good things can happen so I'm looking forward to it so with that I appreciate it this is the big time boiler I'm GNA try to make Recaps um in previews kind of probably let's be realistic I'll probably do a one video of kind of a recap and then preview looking ahead um don't know if I'll get one for after the Indian State game although with it being a byee I'll probably try to do a preview at some point um two weeks from now talking probably about the indate game a little bit and also looking to hit another name at that point we'll have two weeks under name footage we'll see how good they really are so with that man boiler up looking forward to it football's
