What's it Worth? Pristine 1998 Grady White 208!

[Music] all right here we go guys and yeah we're looking at a 1998 Grady 208 Center conso and a couple years ago I did a video on a Wellcraft steplift a fun video what's it worth I have a link to that in the description if anybody wants to go back and look at it that one was on land it was my good friend Todd man's dad's boat they were looking to sell it and you know many of you know I I have a good friend that I fish with a lot we'll get into the owner of this boat in a second but there is a correlation between that famous fishing friend and this boat uh but a little bit about this boat it's a 1998 Grady 208 a 20t center console beautifully kept by its owner same vintage Yamaha uh saltwater Series 2 V6 200 horsepower 500ish hours on the motor runs perfect has been gone through a lot of work done to this boat uh literally needs nothing there's a swim platform we have two rear bench seats here not bench seats two corner seats here uh there are cushions for them the oil injection is under this side batteries are on that side you see it's a notch trans but there is a splash well that folds up when you're underway that motor is tilted down so you have a little bit of protection against water coming in you see storage back there four rot holders here very basic seat there four rod holders on Top This threw me off this is actually a hard toop it's a hard top you see rad are you see a a antenna for the radio uh more storage under there rod holders here here and this is one of the mo we're going to get to the front in a second but I want to preface it by saying I've seen a lot of clever things on boats over the years but in the 20 foot class this may take the cake it may take the cake um the the owner of the boat bought this boat from Maine and you know a lot of the comments I read in my boat review videos are I want something you know family friendly that the wife will want to come out in well you got storage up here you got a live well there we can see it and then on the other side yeah there's a porta potty built into the storage and that can come out if you just want to use it as storage but if you need to convince the wife to buy a boat um this may seal the deal on a relatively affordable 20-footer that you have a little Port-A-Potty there should the knat arise bam you can do your business there storage up here we have the one side open this side is not open by the way there are cushions for this as well if you do want to put the back cushion put a cushion on top of this to use it as a forward seat storage here storage there we have one side open just to give you an idea anchor storage up here very cool insert to place your anchor rote under that um yeah and with that out of the way let's let's meet the owner and he may look and sound familiar mentioned it was a good friend related to a good friend this is John Skinner's brother Bob hey how you doing Bob good morning and uh Bob we were talking about the this right before we started filming there's only one reason you're selling this boat you love this boat and that's because you're moving right yeah my wife bought a house quote on a real form in Indiana and uh frankly it's changed here you know yeah yeah and so between that and the fact that I really can't handle much uh any more of the type of fishing I want to do so we're moving yeah that's it and it's a 98 it has a trailer yes and we mentioned you've gone through this boat from the moment you bought it till now now it looks like it's in fantastic shape and unlike that Wellcraft video we're actually going to we're going to shut the camera off for a second we're going to jump on we're going to start her up and yeah we're going to we're going to go put her through the paces and then at the end of the video we'll come back and we'll we'll see what you and guys if you can put your comments now what do you think this boat is worth beautifully kept 98 yes original motor but low hours runs perfect we'll demonstrate that what do you think a boat like this in 2024 is worth Bob and I will come back at the end of the video after we run it through its paces and you know we we'll offer what Bob's thinking okay all right all right we are just underway we're still in beautiful matat Inlet uh we'll show a starting sequence uh motor fired up right away there is a it's a it's a two-stroke there's you pump the bulb three times put the choke on and it starts on the first turn all right here we go all right lowering the engine about to start start [Music] it okay okay um Bob did point out again more for the ladies there's a freshwater shower here right by the the swim ladder and and also with the electronics box up here here um you know this is brand new it absolutely works but when you're in Seas these things are you know they're they're not the the strongest things Bob Jerry rigged a little uh piece here snap there ensure that it stays up click it close it out of the way but a nice little piece very well done Bob that that's ingenious um and yeah like I said we are underway and we'll show the boat operating in a in a couple minutes once we break matat tuck inl we we'll show it pling off um and yeah I did ask Bob right you said does not need tabs no just and and maybe we didn't talk about this I should have said this when I was going over the boat but 98 is part of the CV2 Halls so this is a the Grady CV2 Hall which very reminiscent to the old ccraft Halls the variable dead rise Halls where you have a very deep entry help break the waves and then it slowly tapers off in the back to 20° which is still a DV but not as sharp a d v um but because it's deeper in the front it still rides well um and the less dead rise in the back actually gives you a little bit more um stability when you're at drift or at anchor and we also have tow rails here Bob mentioned that this is what sold the boat to his wife that you can tuck your feet under there and brace yourself when you're driving or when you're when you're fishing all right like I said we'll check back in in a couple minutes when we're closer to the jetty and about to take take off all right guys we are we are back we are coming up on the inlet right now again this is a matatu on the North pork of Long Island matat Inland um and yeah I'm not chartering today cuz we canceled cuz of the forecast Northeast about 15 uh gust up to 20 today I think right now we just we're we're listening to the radio and it was saying 11 um out of the Northeast steady so not an optimal day to do this but actually for for demonstrating the way the boat rides probably a good day yeah and it's it's a little choppy out there it's not terrible it's not bad it's not that bad but it's it's also not a flat Cal C Bob so uh in a couple seconds Bob's going to open this up we'll see how easy she planes off no tabs and uh we'll see her writing in this slot whenever you one thing I'm going to do is hit the bill okay and and we are good yeah nothing coming out all right take a step [Music] back yeah she pops right down oh she boogies uh yeah we're doing uh about 29 mes an hour very nice and yeah there's definitely White Caps out here any place you want to go no no I just wanted a shower planing off and riding in the slop and Bob actually take it straight on yeah and in fact if you want to slow down I find that you really get a sense of the Seas yep by slowing down it never shows up right on the GoPro but these are legit Long Island Sound I'd say two 2 and 1/2 Footers you can see some of these waves are bigger and I mean we just plowed through that at 30 mph power again a 20 foot boat uh we're not talking about a big sporty or a larger center console it's a 20 footer in this uh again a day that I canceled my Charter because of the weather so that'll give you an idea of the weather we're dealing with today and uh yeah the 200 lot of power for this size boat older technology but bulletproof technology those engines are very sought after in terms of if you're going to buy an engine um yeah Bob that I we don't need to we don't need to belabor it let's let's let's run out let's play off in this stuff and bring her back into the inlet so let's also do one thing let's simulate we're at Horton okay Horton is a for those that don't know yeah is a fishing spot about 12 13 miles east of here and so you want to drift for bass on a day like this this is what you're going to be up against correct okay you can see as you said before all right you would think this would be all over the place from a roll standpoint and it's not no you lock your toes in you're over the side I prefer to drift sideways yep beam to close it down a little bit so you don't have to be concerned that you're going to go over side and not like this yeah so yeah no very impressive and you know I know I said this in the beginning but a really clean bow clearly I I I kind of feel like you and your brother maybe got different cleaning jeans inside you you know and Brian is actually Brian is the third Brother people won't know that and he from his you know just his uh mannerisms and his training with the Coast Guard you can eat off the buge this is a little in between okay it looks really clean to me I think I have more of your brother John than than you or Brian and me but uh all right let's let's let's get her back and then once we're back in the safety of the inlet here we we'll discuss price and and hopefully by now you guys have written into the comments what you think it's work all right we're we're back on land here with Bob and uh hopefully you guys have added into your comments what you think it's worth so Bob uh let's just uh jump to the Brass uh tax here what are you hoping to get out of the boat uh my wife says ask 20 all right there you go guys let's see how you did uh asking price is is 20 and again this does come with a 2015 trailer Bob and I were just talking about that you around 120 mil total on that trailer yeah especially if I'm paying he'll come for the free lunch there we go um so that added incentive but a beautiful boat I think reasonable in 2024 just clean runs great handles well and Bob like you articulated a great drift boat a great boat if you want to fish the rips here off Eastern Long Island for stripe bass all right Bob thank you for your time good luck with the sale good luck with the
