feeling how are you feeling a little better now thank you I caught the bug that uh it was inevitable these two had for a while I can't believe it took that long I know which means like if it took you like a week and a half to get it we must have got it a week and a half before we had it which means maybe we didn't give it to each other but some someone that we either both know possibly Jam Jenkins could have been James Jenkins that guy always he's always in B well it was actually it was my birthday a week and a half before we all got sick so maybe someone at my birthday got us got us unwar could have been that's right I wasn't there very long so maybe when you guys all um shared the ceremonial ice or whatever it was big kiss when was a big when the big kiss happened at the end I sadly missed really interesting uh anyway yeah I feel lot better now thank you cycling up here to work this morning did nearly kill me I wasn't I don't think I was really ready for that but um yeah feeling a lot better A couple of days ago I couldn't look at light sources or screens or anything it was just my my eyes felt like they were going to pop but uh yeah we live and we we keep we we we're here we carry on and that's what matters to talk about video games they're not going to talk about themselves they're not not and no one else talks about them no it's it's only us and than thank God we're question mark what's project ragtag you can learn all about that by watching that video on the channel on you you probably feel uh quite sorry for Amy henck by the end of it yeah you probably will I think whenever I when I used to work in retail so impactful was Star Wars 13113 in terms of the knowledge of its existence and then the sadness of its weird and sudden cancellation that it it was it was probably just one of those things that occurred and you apply meaning to it even though there isn't any but it felt like an inordinate amount of times the total that someone's shopping would come to was £ 133 look at that and go a damn it oh man that's that's such a bummer and you can learn all about it in the video my time working at marks and Spencer everything reminds me of him it's a 20 minute video about about Manning a till and you're going to love it yeah go watch that video now on the channel wonderful well it's time for question one it comes from Chris McVey who says hi Bap hi a new digital eclips interactive documentary retro compilation has been announced in the form of Tetris forever having recently played through Atari 50 and being really impressed with that style of retro presentation I'm excited to see how they present the history of Tetris in a similar format as the earliest video games get older and older how important do you think document star projects like this will become in the all important process of preservation thank you Chris thanks Chris um so this was I mean it was certainly shown at the Nintendo showcase was it was that where it was revealed or was yeah it wasn't revealed anywhere else um you know it looks it looks super interesting if you're a big Tetris fan there's lots to go out there um there was also that I think it's a new a new thing where uh the style changes as you're playing yeah it's called Uh Tetris time War yeah which is a fun thing so I think these things are are great um I have recently played a couple of um limited run games uh the tomber one had loads and loads of concept art and stuff on there all right not documentary but you know that's important to see things like that and for it to be preserved and of course the beong and evil uh 20th anniversary edition had a huge I mean it wasn't a documentary in the sense that you don't just press play and watch the whole thing but it was a huge gallery of not just assets and artwork but like actual written information about oh here's what we did and here's how this happened and this is where the office was here's some like camcorder footage of the time it flooded in uh melier and like the the whole ground floor was waste high with water you know like really kind of fascinating stuff and um I do think that's not only is it important for preservation it's just super interesting to see things like that um so I think as games get older and older if this is the only way that we're going to be able like sort of permitted to preserve certain games then uh you know that's that's a good thing know there there are games out there that have licensing issues that make it very difficult for them to do a remaster or a re-release or even a remake potentially um so if we can at least get some kind of documentary style material available I mean I mean this is actually playable this interactive documentary so I guess that doesn't tie in with games that can't be re-released but uh you know in the those instances where there is some kind of Licensing issue at least some kind of documentary that's not interactive even about that game would be better than nothing so yeah all sorts of stuff like this is is very um important I think it's interesting but I also think it's not something that like every game can do no like uh like you saying I think like a documentary is super important and it's and that's why I think there's so many brilliant videos on YouTube about like the history of things you know we've done a few about certain game and stuff obviously they're not necessarily as in intri what's the word in depth not in depth but like involved with the actual companies behind the games that some of these actual documentaries are um however I do like to see that we getting a lot more collections of old games and Nintendo have got quite a lot of these obviously on their NES and S NES like um I can't remember what they're called like is it NES online or something you know like the collections of games that they have on yeah um on Nintendo which is great and during the Showcase we talk about in a minute we did see a few kind of collections of games that are being brought back in the form of a like well a collection I said that a second ago a collection of games um but yeah I think it's great that this is happening and I would love to see this with a couple of other games but I don't imagine there is that many franchises of games that you could do this with um with things like Tetris obviously it being so successful and so huge and so wellknown and has got so many iterations of Tetris and different ways that it was like created I think that makes complete sense to do something with like like that with Tetris however I don't think I could think of many other franchises or series of games that you could necessarily do this with there might be like collections or like you know company collections like the Capcom fighting collection thing that was announced during um switch thing but I do yeah I do think that there's lots of ways you can compile these games and there is lots of ways you can play them I mean the um the oh my God and my brain just gone completely blank you know the little console that we have in the cupboard next door the r the Ade thank you the Ade and those and that team have got so many games they've preserved in these little cassettes that you can play on the Ade which is brilliant and is another way to play the games rather than emulating them if that's not possible but like you said there is lots of Licensing issues with some games which is why emulating might be the only way you can play it but yeah I think this is brilliant and I think it's something that we love to see we talk about video game preservation all the time and I think this is a brilliant step forward in making sure people can play games but like you say also having this background knowledge into how things came about mhm no I totally agree I think it's um it's a very cool way to to preserve games and to provide some context and background on things rather than have Standalone video documentaries and stuff particularly if there's a sort of playable element to it it would be nice to see other game series as you said Ashton not every game can probably do this but different game series give you the option to just play through them or play through them with essentially um director's commentary over the top and I know that some games have done that historically in the past I think Bioshock maybe had like a director's comment certains of the as you them i' never us that myself but I'm that exists and uh WWE do something similar albeit you know very different in their showcase modes that they've done in recent years so crazy what's that that this reminded me of that and I was going to bring it up but I thought I don't know that much about it and I was like if I bring this up I'm have never played it but just heard Ben talk about it so I was like I was but I literally thought the exact same thing it's it's a good honestly it's a really good approach where where it like Blends together and you know this isn't going to work you know one to one for video games but it Blends together footage of the real matches that you're playing through and then it transforms it into in-game engine cut scene stuff and you're playing through it it has narration over the top from a relevant person and then there's talking head bits in between levels like there's there's a way that you probably could do that selfishly I'd love them to do this for games that I am personally very interested in like time Splitters but considering that we can't even get a proper flipping remaster of time Splitters apparently that's impossible it's been nearly 20 years since the last one came out it's which is absolutely nuts um I don't think that's likely obviously it's good that any of these games get this kind of treatment um I'd love for one love for it to happen to a series that I'm actively interested in but ultimately it's going to come down to money and if a developer can just put out an older game on Modern systems and then hey look technically that's game preservation it's there it's available that's great you know we'll always be happy with that but to go the extra mile to take the time to track down the people who were involved in the game originally and talk to them get like a a film crew in to put together some bespoke stuff it's a lot of effort so I applaud the extra work that's clearly gone into this um and it's great to see and I'd love to see it in more stuff but unfortunately I just I don't think it's going to be very viable for for for most places even if they do have the budget for it yeah like you think Activision is going to bother with this yeah no absolutely not uh but it's cool to see really really really happy to see this this kind of stuff continue to continue to be put out there presumably such a high quality as well yeah I think I sort of answered Chris's question just as as though he said do you think this is a good thing which yes I do but how important do you think this will become in the process of preservation yeah I don't think it's actually likely to become a a very popular and frequent thing unfortunately because it is a a fun kind of format to do these things in M well now it's time for a brand new segment that we are calling what we play What We Playin' in it's what we play in time time to talk about the games what we have been playing pitos yes what have you been playing uh I have uh I I think since the last uh podcast I have played a little more TOA T be but I'm kind of done with that now had a good time uh Ashton you came over to my house I did didn't you exciting very exciting we had dinner it was lovely we did and we played some video games we played um uh makeway make way yes which we've played before yes the car the car yeah it was a lot of fun we played the uh the like house decoration on tools tools up yeah what's that I didn't make of any of these names like you're um overcooked or you're moving out however you are um painting walls and like removing floor and putting new floor down you still have like sort of like jelly men that they well they're kind of a bit silly looking like you could be like a big dog in a hard hat if you or a moose yeah and then like you have to that we've been playing it on like the Casual mode where there's no timer because we didn't want the timer but it's just quite fun to just go in and like be like who's got the orange paint who's got is anyone where what wall haven't we painted and some of the materials are waiting for you in the house or on the front at the front door but uh occasionally you won't have like we need orange wallpaper when we don't have any and there's this man who occasionally walks past the house carrying the thing that you need get the do this stuff get the paper that sounds fun yeah it was good so uh I think that's all we played we played one more but I didn't write down either and I can't remember the name of it now where we were like the um the one where some two of us were like hiding and we had to kind of hide oh yeah hidden in plain sight we play that that's quite an old game now but that was a lot of fun that's a very sort of it's a pixelated style uh thing where uh the camera is just on one big empty Square Room um and then there's a huge crowd of people in it all these different characters there's like a I think a lot of them were kind of horror themed there's like a mummy and a wolf man and a jelly man or whatever and uh and you don't know who you are so you've got to figure out who you are and you might have like the you have to steal a bunch of money from NPCs while two other people are the snipers and they're looking for you and they've got three chances to find you so you have to behave like you have to behave like an NPC or whilst trying to like do others to like complete your mission as well so one of those that sort of takes a lot of inspiration from kind of card games and you know like yeah it's a bit sort of werewolf yeah yeah yeah but there's like a bunch of different game so there was one where we were all just like we had to go to a bunch of flags but also um like there was four of us and we had to try and kill the other person and you'd see someone like die and you wouldn't know if someone had actually got someone else or they just like killed an NPC until someone was like damn it I'm dead yeah so it was quite a good fun actually that does sound good yeah um and then of course I have been playing Star Wars Outlaws which I will talk about in review Corner in just a moment o well I played all of those things uh but also I've played some more Fallout 76 just can't stop myself just can't stop um and I played it on stream but last night but I also played it a bit more after the fact um is corke keeper which ceper yeah so it came out on consoles this week I think it's still in Early Access that might not be true it might no it's full release now um and it's essentially a bit like a staru valley Terraria type thing but you're basically in a a mine and you're going through and there's various enemies and you have to collect various things to like level yourself up you there's farming you pick like a background at the beginning so you can be like a minor so you start with a pickaxe I picked to be a farmer so I started with a hoe and a watering can um and then like the more you play the more you obviously upgrade your stuff and there's various workbenches and stuff and then there's big bosses that you have to fight in order to um I think activate the portal home is essentially the premise of it so yeah it was pretty good fun it's like the art style is very similar to that of Star Valley s a bit like Crypt Keeper as well don't you fall through a portal in that or something I think but it's one to eight player co-op either oh nice like online so um and it's got loads it's had loads of people playing it and people have really enjoyed it and I was playing it yesterday on stream then I finished streaming it and then I played it for another like hour and a half um because it's good fun and very like chilled and just wandering around and you do get killed by mushrooms or I got like absolutely annihilated by the first boss which is like right by where I spawned for the first time so he's just like this big slime that just keeps slapping the ground so I'm just kind of in my house just trying to like make myself some food and it's just like slap slap and I'm like I need to move my house I need to move away from this big full 76 all over yeah you have to move the house yeah but um yeah that's good fun soov having a good time on that one amazing uh I played a few things I can't remember if I said that I'd moved on to another I was keeping the super massive game train rolling so I've started Devil in Me Now the murder house which is the one that I always forget the name of I remember the name of every other the that's the the hungry hungry homes the Mur Hotel yes yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah we only played that one once actually Charlie L yeah any cigarettes yeah yeah I really like that one actually I think it might be it's probably the one I play replayed the least and I have played them all quite where fell down the hole so good just like this guy PNG just goes down it was so good it's it's really good like I like I like it a lot and I'm just trying to do Dar stuff in it like go directions I haven't gone before or just act completely out of character and see what happens or I think I'm I think we're trying to do a bit of a death run on this where we're just going to fail all the qtes and stuff and see what happens but I haven't I haven't played a huge amount of that but that's that's all I've done so far um all I've done what I'm I even saying so I haven't played much but I have enjoyed what I've played so far I think that's what I was trying to say um I played a little bit of time Splitters future perfect actually not much I went to a friend's house um because we went to go and see the wrestling at the weekend and uh discovered that hey it isn't actually such big news that the time Splitters games are on PlayStation now because they've been on Game Pass for ages and I had no idea and my friend had recently sold his PlayStation 5 and bought a series X basically just to because he just wants to live in Nostalgia and just have Game Pass and play Oblivion and stuff like that so I was like you know fair enough and he was a big time splits fan part of the sort of original crew of or circle of time spites players that I ran in back when I was at school so we played like the first few missions of that and that was really fun that's such a such a good game and I tell you what on the series X as well with all its like weird upscaling Wizardry that it's doing it looks fantastic as looks good uh so that was fun and um when I was laying in bed feeling kind of sorry for myself this week I really had an urge to play Borderlands 2 so I busted out the PlayStation portal that's so funny we were talking this week about go Bing to play Borderlands 2 really it's brilliant I'm I'm playing it by myself and I think it's the first time I've played it solo probably since it came out on PS3 12 years ago and the fact that I'm I'm still not used to when you go up to the the like the loading things to go to a different area and you know has to do the countdown until you go and you're playing a single player there's no countdown and I keep forgetting that you could just press square and you're straight through it um and that's been great the portals worked really well for that and that was that was really good fun and I'm just sort of Smashing through it with the sound practically off just with a podcast on or something I'm having a great time so that is what I've played this week well Peter should we hear what you have to say about Star Wars Outlaws now Review Corner: Star Wars Outlaws okay well hello and welcome to review Corner thanks you saying that to me or to them to them oh you guys were here obviously before cuz you were just listening but we're in the review corner now welcome in it's cool over here yeah Peter you been playing Star Wars Outlaws I have and I've been uh so far I've been really enjoying it I've only played played maybe 3 or 4 hours of it so far um and I'm aware that some people have encountering bugs and uh all sorts of problems um and I'm fortunate at the moment to have not really had any um I do have a few sort of minor complaints which I'll get to and it's uh worth addressing the controversy in fact the first thing it's worth saying is that this is technically a hashtag ad per ASA guidelines cuz we were provided with this code um but uh just giving you our thoughts and nobody has changed hands uh but um it's also worth pointing out the probably the most controversial part of this game's release which is that uh you could pay however much to get early access1 version of it for three three days early access or you could get it on ubisoft's platform I think that was also Early Access um and then a patch was released on like I think the day before release day and it's not out yet so it's it's a few days before release day oh that's true still not out yet is it yeah so it's still a few days before um and uh unfortunately people who had I think a certain version or maybe any version up to that point have had to restart their game after paying a lot of money for early ACC and potentially having played like eight to 10 hours maybe a lot yeah um so uh that's not affected me fortunately I didn't get my copy until yesterday time recording When which was around the time that patch went out but anyway that's worth pointing out um but if you dear listener have not yet played the game that that won't affect you going forward because that patch is out now but yeah that's not a great part of the release unfortunately but anyway the story uh you play as k v who is um uh kind of an upand cominging scoundrel um and she's got a a little little creature called ncks I don't know what it is actually it's it kind of looks like an axel it's like a little Axel but it's furry space space space Axel yeah exactly um and at some point I assume I'm going to encounter the sexy robot that people were thirsting over don't really know why they're thirsting over him he's just a a Droid with the jacket he's got Good Vibes he got goodes I've not yet encountered sexy robot but um you start the game uh trying to pull off a a job and it goes a bit wrong for you you encounter someone who uh let's say you uh get a bad reputation with a very powerful individual and so that is going be sort of chasing you through the game I imagine um and then you continue to try to pull off various jobs and the first few jobs go quite wrong for you so uh you know you're constantly on the back foot trying to just scrape together some money to to sort out your ship and just get to the next planet uh I you start on one planet and then you uh that's all fairly linear and then you get to the second planet where things start to open up again I've I've I've only been to those two so far but I imagine soon enough I'll be going to another one um but I'm really enjoying it um it's it's presented really nicely the whole thing is um kind of in it's got cinematic like letter boxing to it so it's widescreen yeah um you can disable it and um normally when we uh show game footage on our Channel we we remove black bars like that but given that it's sort of a stylistic choice I guess we'll probably leave it in in the video version of this review Corner um it's got like film grain enabled and apparently they they specifically like designed it with with like the cameras and the the filming techniques used in the original films in mind um so it's all supposed to be quite cinematic and it's presented in a cinematic way as well in terms of like what actually happens to you so the Uncharted comparison that some people have made is it's it's not uh it's not unfair to compare it to Uncharted it's not quite as big of a spectacle as uh an Uncharted game so far in terms of what I've encountered maybe as we go there'll be more and more of that but um you know there are lots of interesting set pieces and scripted moments um but I think the the most enjoyable part for me certainly as a Star Wars fan so far is just wandering around these worlds that are uh you know they're they're packed with detail um and there's all sorts of things you can do there's little animals running around in the streets and stuff and you can pet most of them um there's there's loads of different um like recognizable races of of characters people are everywhere you go people are talking about you know rumors and and you know people fighting in the street and uh people trying to sell you stuff and there's all sorts going on so it the the world to me feels really alive and it's a it's just a nice um uh thing to explore and there's always something to look at I found myself just like constantly stopping and looking at things rather than going for my objective which you know that's no bad thing I guess does it feel like a Ubisoft game does it have those typical UB World situations happening or is it somewhat removed from yeah to me at the moment it doesn't feel like super UB worldy um again like I don't know if more and more mechanics are going to be introduced as I go but I've not had to do any kind of equivalent to climbing Towers yet um I don't seem to have any kind of drone or eagle or or anything like that um NYX actually has all sorts of abilities that are really helpful um one of the the sort of the the the Eagle Vision that allows you to see enemies through the wall that is attributed to nix's like senses which I guess is quite a good in Universe way of doing it cuz you know you have all these characters in video games who can just sort of see people through Walls by listening and it's like is that realistic but at least your creature with senses can maybe do it um but the the thing you use him most for is um like stealth segments and things like that so so uh you can get them to like run out into the open and just distract people and that won't raise the alarm but people will turn and be like what's that and they like oh it's just some weird creature and then he'll run away space ax aot exactly yeah and uh so he'll distract people or you can get him to like actively attack people to to sort of stun them for a minute he can retrieve things for you he can go through gaps that you can't get through and like press buttons on the other side of you know bars or whatever so is he easy enough to control like yeah he is actually because considering many different things he can do I have found it fairly intuitive the only thing that I I don't necessarily like is um uh so you you hold L1 and then you aim at like whatever you want him to do and it will it will like you press the button for the the appropriate response and I find that like while you're holding L1 and moving the camera it can be a bit slow right um and I guess it's to give you that Precision to point cuz sometimes you'll see like three things all Bunch together and you want to hit the right thing yeah so I guess that's why they do it but um so yeah that's that's a bit slow in terms of the movement of the camera but it's pretty easy to control for the most part um in terms of drawbacks though the thing that has most frustrated me is that when the cut scenes are running I found that it gets a bit like framy um in places and uh I I noticed it after like the first maybe half hour I was like some of these cut scenes don't look super smooth so then I paused the game I was like I'll put it on performance mode turned out it was already on performance mode right so clearly in performance mode on a PS5 the cutcenes aren't as smooth as I would like them to be um which is a shame and I'm not even tried it on quality mode or whatever it's called pretty mode um so uh God knows what that looks like um but that's really the only the only big problem I've had so far is the gameplay fun like does it feel fun to play it does I'm I'm really enjoying it I think the the gun play is good the stealth's good I found some of the stealth sections quite demanding like you'll you'll be in a huge area with like a lot of enemies and you're trying to get to the other side and you know there there are loads of people to clear out otherwise they're going to see you and um I imagine I'm going to you know upgrade a lot of abilities as I go and be able to do a lot more um but like right now one of the things you can do is you've got your blaster which just acts as a gun of course but you can set it to stun mode which has a cool down on it and so from a range you can knock someone out um but I found that when I use that people seem to hear it um which seems a bit unfair because it's like the whole point is I'm like sneaking around I'm hiding in the grass yeah um it would be quite nice to be able to just do a one shot remote you know it kind of it almost defeats the the purpose of like staying hidden and shooting you know it's a one- Time used thing when then it calls down and it's like should this really be like should people be able to hear this all right fair enough if that's what they've decided to go with but it kind of makes me not want to use it as much cuz it's really fun to use apart from the fact that people go oh what was that and then the alarms raised so you know that's that's difficult but yeah I'm enjoying the stealth I'm enjoying the Gunplay I like the story the characters I also don't really get What U people are very much cherry-picking these screenshots of her face saying like how ugly she is you know like that's a it's a thing that's happening on Twitter people saying the character's super ugly yeah they're just choosing screenshots of like the worst possible moment they can find like you could do with footage of anything I don't think looks that bad at all personally maybe I don't know maybe that's just me but um I think she looks like a normal woman exactly and therefore ugly um so yeah uh it's a shame what other people have experienced I've been lucky to not have that which makes a change for Star Wars games given my problems I had with Jedi Survivor um so for me on a personal level I'm really enjoying it um and I'm I've I've been fortunate and yeah the only real complaint so far has been the um uh the the frame rate in cut scenes but uh there's still a lot for me to uh kind of unlock and explore I've not done any flying of my ship yet really um and uh you know there there's clearly a whole load of characters and locations and abilities to unlock so maybe as we go on I'll find more things that irritate me but right now I'm Gamescom now and we're heading into the final few months of the year with plenty to look forward to and honestly there is something for everyone but for now we've got to focus on the ones dropping in the next 30 days of which there are plenty so without further Ado here is your September gaming forecast launching on September 3rd is bike delivery Adventure game parcel corpse speed through the sunny streets of New Island on your bike and complete deliveries for all the Kookie characters that live there compete to help your chosen Corporation become the most profitable in town all while diding with the arrival of Rich vain CEO of polar petroleum PLC fans of games like Jet Set Radio might want to give this one a look and if you do you may hear a few familiar voices and even catch a few glimpses of our very own Ben Potter the game Launches on PC PlayStation 5 and Xbox series now we love a super massive game and despite the next dark pictures game not launching till 2025 it's only a few days until their new interactive horror the casting of Frank Stone drops on PS5 PC and Xbox series set in the universe of dead by daylight in the summer of 1980 four young filmmakers are making a horror movie in an abandoned steel mill when Frank Stone a sadistic killer from the town's past decides to make a gruesome Cameo qtees and decisions are plenty when this game Launches on September 3rd next up launching on September 6th exclusively on PlayStation 5 is team es so's new astrobot join the little bot in his brand new 3D platformer and use the Dual sense's every feature to control him through 80 levels you'll fly to different galaxies and planets using the duel speeder spaceship and similar to what we saw in the PS5 Tech demo astrobot Rescue Mission there is lots of other Bots dotted through the levels including some references to PlayStation's history and their many characters hopefully lots of fun to be had with this one next up is devolver digital's new adventure game the Plucky Squire playing as the aforementioned Plucky Squire jot and his Pals you'll explore the beautiful story book World solving puzzles and challenges as you go though that is not all because the malevolent hum Grump the story book's villain sends jot out of the story book and into the real world jump between 2D and 3D worlds when this narrative Adventure Launches on PC PlayStation 5 Xbox series and switch on September 17th the last game I want to mention that's dropping next month is Nintendo's new The Legend of Zelda Echoes of wisdom with a similar St to 2019s Links Awakening remake this game has you playing as Zelda after link is sucked into mysterious Rift Zelda has a TR Rod that creates Echoes of objects and monsters allowing you to summon and bind them together to help you Traverse the lands of Hyrule you can play the first Mainline game in the series to Star Zelda when it launches on switch on September 26th that's all for now but there is lots more to look forward to with the Age of Mythology remake dropping on the fourth Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 dropping on the 9th and the probably pretty wonky Funko Fusion coming on the 13th but for now it's time to get back World leading into the partner showcase yes and they clarified there will not be a new Switch announcement don't even ask and so they there was mainly just games and stuff and the very excited man was there and a there was a very excited man and woman now dur during the show a bit of banter yeah yeah it's so normal when they speak with such normal Cadence it's crazy honestly the most normal part was the bit where they were playing PK p park it was really normal those are two friends oh no these two people have recorded it at the same time good it was good it was really good should we go through what was announc yes Indie world time okay well we started off finding out that uh vampire survivors Among Us The Witcher 3 and Dave the divers David the diver cards are coming to Bal balatro balatro people love that game they do because it's a card game I'm not interested because it's a video game card game I'm doubly not interested sounds brilliant though and it's had unbelievable success but it is categorically not something that I I want to play but hey it's clearly doing well enough to to collab with literally everything else so that's good yeah uh we then had uh they pronounce this na I think rather than never or NE I thought it was never might have been never not sure it wasn't Nea but it was something else uh and it's from the makers of G uh and it's releasing on October the 15th pretty going to make us cry I think quite monochrome tear game yeah as me uh Coffee Talk the Barista Sim visual novel is launching a sequel based in Tokyo coming 2025 this looks great as well very chill yeah I think the coffee talk games have always gone down very well because of their chill atmosphere and especially with the to the Cozy Tokyo night life as well I think this will do this this will do very well then it was time for power wash Sim getting the new Shrek DLC coming in Autumn I'm really excited for this I I pick up power Sim when they launch a new DLC I finished all the DLC and then I uninstall power wash until they give me the next you clean the DeLorean oh I don't know if I have actually I might have to do the back I did the Final Fantasy one and the Lara coft one but I don't think how long ITT one must a while they do it in bits and pieces but oh okay yeah just say here's the entire man some scaffolding the they took the longest was cleaning the the like assault course in the garden that took ages because there's so many like crevices and like places there I don't know what she's been doing on there it was covered in mud did you clean the freezer at some point you should damn clean the blood out there's at least one dead man in yeah uh sea of stars new DLC called throws of the watch maker is coming for free on all Platforms in Spring 2025 there was a lot that I've immediately forgotten about yeah we just watched it before because just a lot of well I call it filler I mean other people I'm sure were going wow I mean SE of stars is quite famously very good game yeah no I mean it's not I'm not just not for you I'm not saying quality wise even but I'm say yeah for me it's stuff that I might my eyes glaze over because I'm like this is not for me you know irrespective of whether or not it's game there was definitely one of those one of those anime games later on where every line that was uttered was just like a catchphrase or sort of a cliche like you underestimate my power come on there was one was like what are you flying up there for and I was like what's happening where are we he's flying up there for yeah that's what he's doing good um so we got another game here which uh have you got this it's called morels morels is a new strange Rog like for from for for Cula and Anna perner interactive coming February 2025 this had lots of interesting art styles in it it kept changing yeah it was pretty cool looking looked like there was a little little poo character play little plop you want is that you one you bagging that one now yeah can't wait play as plot boy yeah yeah uh dating Sim date everything was there and you can make you made every household item into a sexy person that you can flirt with I wrote that I thought they were sexy person that you can I mean they are all sex they all pretty sexy including things like Shelf clock existen Dre and chat the chat box that you are using you can literally date boxier or something yeah yeah weird game it looks great considering I've just played a bit of Hatter full boyfriend for the first time like brilliant I'm ready that was my that was just a sample and exclusive on switch from today time off showcase physics Sandbox game wobbly life is coming to switch in December including local co-op this looks like a they built a whole bloody City for you to wobble about it very sort of Goat Sim I couldn't even tell what yeah exactly what the objectives were it was just there a whole thing exist in the city as like a little jelly person and uh get up to all sorts of H and stuff yeah looks pretty fun very exciting for me actually because uh I think we be have a good fun to play this one again P Park 2 tues a console exclusive we played p park one all of it on stream and I really enjoyed it I thought it was really good fun level Jesus Christ we've did that so many times had two songs yeah soundtrack had two songs and when you're stuck doing that spaceship B for 45 minutes I tell you those two songs they get stuck in yeah but there currently just out on switch but we'll come out on everything else soon so I really do want to play that actually yeah is it me yeah Shovel Knight shovel of Hope DX is expected soon but there's no release date I'm a bit confused by Shovel Knight because um I understand there have been like three Shovel Knight games and several expansions and I can't really work out what's what or or what this DX version even is but if you like Shovel Knight and you got the switch then Shovel Knight DX coming soon yeah uh Ashton I think we've gone out of order yeah I it was you then it was me and then you went again so now if you're going to go Peter has to go now I will go next but I was I was thinking hang I've never done anything wrong in my entire life no uh exploration adventure Europa will be released uh on October the 11th there a demo is out on Tuesday this cute which one was this again um you play as a young boy and you are exploring a kind of pastel world that's I can't I'm trying to think what it's similar to um I don't really know I could sayil that you would know cuz I would to say good yeah it was cute good I probably thought it looked cute as well yeah mhm is it me now I'll go now okay um cuisia something like that Oris um a restaurant running dungeon crawler where everyone is an animal is releasing on January 28th this looked pretty cute as well you have like a restaurant that you are in charge of putting tables down that kind of thing that side of restaurant thing and then also you're running around a dungeon and like killing enemies and trying to get stuff for your restaurant so looked cute now you go now me go and then is it you again no we're going to go around we're going the otherwise now okay this is good on your taale a narrative mystery life Sim game Launches on November the 21st this the one with the fures in it yeah yeah yeah it's the furry one she was riding a bike yeah going down some stairs and at one point it completely changed art style and it was like 2D characters on a thing it was weird but this will find the crowd sure it's already got a crowd be pretty thrilled about it sure Metal Slug tactics is releasing this Autumn if you like metal slug mhm and then the last thing in the Indie showcase was pizza Tower which is a 2d platformer coming to Nintendo switch on Tuesday much for me we saw was at devolver digital I think their Showcase in the summer um and yeah it's very intense you play as like a really intense Pizza Man kind of Ren and Stimpy looking art style but drawn in Ms paint yeah it does it did look a lot like a sort of Flash game yeah um not not to take anything away not to say that you know it's not going to be any good but it was it was a it was a lot yeah it was a lot though I think it was a choice I think it's a style Choice yeah of course of course then it was the partner showcase yes which I have to say um was weird it just included lots of kind of Collections and remasters and stuff but yeah you know so this is um obviously they labeled it at least as a partner showcase this really did I mean we probably knew this going in anywh we did know this going anyway but it really did feel like hey we've got these contractual obligations here's just a load of trailers from our partners yeah you might like some of them yeah here we go and so yeah there was there was just a lot of stuff MH that might not be that exciting yeah your first Ben first up was Tetris forever and NES Tetris a collection of classic Tetris games along with a new game Tetris Time Warp that brings other Tetris battles from different eras and it's due to launch this year we talked about this earlier in the podcast we did uh then it was star overdrive speed into the unknown in Star overdrive battle and explore a vast world where creativity is key to overcoming challenges it's expected out next year nice that was the quote in the description of the video uh Goat Sim 3 is launching on switch on Tuesday that's coming soon now you go again there's nothing else I have to say about that SpongeBob SquarePants the Patrick surely it should be the Pat Patrick Star the our SpongeBob game no SpongeBob SquarePants the Patrick Star game a Sandbox where you play as Patrick Star is coming to switch on October the 4th it l like go s it did look a lot like goat him and also cuz he just sort of makes noises all the time just sort of goes is that what it's going to be is it going to be just like about 15 hours of and him like falling off stuff y that sounds incidentally when they did talk about Goat Sim 3 they did a lot of goat puns they were saying like oh hoof it over to the store or whatever I was disappointed they didn't say anything about like are you horny for Goat Sim cuz they said like bad Nintendo they're not going to say horny they should have said horny for Goat Sim come on you know I agree they let us down cowards anyway Fitness Boxing 3 your personal trainer is coming I think you've got one more set in you yeah I'll try now it's time for your for your what was it your own personal fitness trainer like you can also get one of those like and have a real session probably a few sessions for the cost of the game yeah and it will actually feel more personal than a robot talking and they're real yeah they made life it exists very it's very real yeah um Capcom fighting collection 2 is a package of a bunch of Capcom fighting games and is coming in 2025 Marvel versus Capcom fighting collection arcade Classics is coming to switch on September the 12th there was a bit where um Ryu and cyclops uh shook hands and they just kept slid they slid so close together and their hands were so low down I was like I think they're going to kiss it just like slid right in there and then they didn't cowards again kiss a new protagonist comes to the aali yir franchise SM did I say that right in atalia yumia The Alchemist of memories and the envisioned land expected out in 2025 envisioned in 2025 yeah yeah this is where it lost me a little bit um yeah then we got Soden one and two HD remaster gate Rune and dunan unification Wars dun that they coming Nintendo switch on March 6 202 these look really pretty yeah these are really pretty games and sueran is a series that is is very beloved a classic RPG series and uh it's nice again talking about game preservation that these are just going to be available on on Modern Hardware nice to see uh and then similarly Dragon Quest 3 remake is coming to Nintendo switch on November the 14th we saw this they announced one and two or did they announc three was three their first one three the first one they're doing I think we talked about it at the time cuz canonically three is set first in the timeline which is why they're doing three first um but it looks really good I I really like the sort of the the Retro pixel yeah I love it I that name for the art style HDD HD 2D what would you call it I don't know but I whenever someone say HD2 I always think that it's not quite right anyway h303 mhm uh lock up your grandads the Castlevania dominoes collection is coming out believe Aston wrote that that's really weird uh it says Castlevania Dominus collection brings together Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia in one bundle coming to Nintendo switch on Tuesday you can tell that I started to get bored of having to type all these names up because I just started copying it from the yeah the fonts changed yeah these are DS games originally and we ranked all of them and you can watch that video on the channel now very good uh Sid Meers civilization 7's coming to switch in February specifically the 11th and it looks very different on switch than it does in all the other trailers we've seen before doing we were joking in the chat when we were watching it that um the real challenge of sidm civilization on switch is that you have to kill everyone before they spawn too many things and it shuts your switch down yeah oh man no Sid though again no he was that when they announced it at the first time wasn't there it was at home in his cardigan but that's where it's you can't expect him to go out anywhere else uh Tales of Grace remastered lets you Journey back to the world of ainia anywhere you are in the world what does that mean I don't know that's what it says in the YouTube description I think it means on the go with the Nintendo switch anywh but I could have a PS5 anywhere in the world almost post you know yeah it's a funny sentence it's coming in the 17th of January 2025 that one yeah uh my Sims cozy bundle will actually be the first Sims game on Nintendo switch coming November 19th the cult classic is basically electronic Art's answer to Animal Crossing I wouldn't say that but I am excited about this however I have I have issues with it go so firstly it's my Sims and My Sims Kingdom which I knew from the trailer before they even announced it and I text my boyfriend being like it's my Sims and My Sims Kingdom there's no my Sims agents which I'm fum about cuz I love my Sims agents anyway that's the first issue I have with it second issue I have with it is that you can play the My Sims games on um ubisoft's uh like platform on PC and they cost £6 each okay this collection even though it's not a remaster or anything it's just those games ported to switch costs £40 o o 40 whole but you can play them anywhere you are in the world yes I know but if it was my Sims agents I'd be like of course it's worth £40 but uh but if if enough people buy it then maybe maybe you'll but I I really like the my Sims games so I am excited that they're coming back into the world into the Zeitgeist of gaming I love my Sims um think they're great and I want my Sims agents give me my Sims agents next please I think we were they wi games games yeah we had one of those I think ands play it a lot I don't know if I had my Sims I know I had my Sims Kingdom and I had my Sims agents but I'm not sure if I had actually just my Sims vanilla regular regular yeah I'm sure Nintendo we listening so yeah please please do agents next um Five Nights at Freddy's help Wantage 2 and Five Nights at Freddy's security breach ruin are both coming to Nintendo switch this holiday season run factory guardians of auma will be released on the Nintendo switch in Spring 2025 Oh Billy and finally yaku kuami is a remake of the first Yakuza game or Yakuza uh which was originally a PS2 released it's coming to Nintendo switch on October the 24th this one raised some eyebrows because in the past um I think in no uncertain terms someone from wi wizin within the Yakuza team said no we're not bringing them to the switch because the switch is like conso children and when we're just not going to do that and now they've now they've changed tune and people are sort of wondering how well is it going to run because this is the remake of the original game which admittedly was able to run on PS4 Hardware but PS4 games probably still are slightly more demanding than than the switch is is capable so we'll we'll see how it runs but you know that's nice and this is the first is this the first Yakuza game on on Nintendo platforms feels significant and it's the it's it's chronologically it's the first one as well so I really liked in that trailer how they were like a crime bus and a girl on the run and the girl's like four and I'm like what's she on the run from the police what's she done what's she done you got to find she stole some stuff I just like the way they framed it yeah also just to clarify it might not be the first chronological I think that might be Yakuza zero you don't need to don't you don't need to mind and tweet him as well I'll be I'll Sur into the office I'll survive I come to the office no no don't do that don't do that there we are that was that was the that was the Showcase what did you guys think then I thought that the Indie World Showcase I often enjoy those they we kind of have a bit of a running joke when it comes to the Indie World showcases because there was one that was literally like farming Sim after farming Sim after farming Sim so now we have a a running joke that like oh how many farming Sims will we see and actually today it was none um I think that the Indie world one he had the he had the the legendary parasol that that conjured water yeah true did we talk about that one I don't know if that one was I'm not sure um but yeah I think that like the Indie World Showcase was interesting and we got a lot of looks at kind of really unique looking games and then the partner showcase was just re remaster ports and collections which is fine you know they it's good for like we were saying about video game preservation that's great and glad people could still play these games however it just want of those things that make you kind of feel really a lot more like oh guys there nothing new there's nothing new coming out no one's releasing anything new everything's just old now and it's we had this conversation I think after one of the showcases a little while ago that it just feels like everything is a sequel or a remake or a remaster or something that's already out before there's not many new games coming out which obviously isn't the case because the Indie showcase had a lot of new games but it did definitely feel like we were just sticking the word remaster on the end of things now and calling it a day so yeah the thing I was uh most interested in I mean it was we saw three seconds of it in one of the here's several games back to back and it's a game we already knew about we've seen it many many times but I'm really looking forward to the Plucky Squire you know and you know that very much not long now it's not long now but didn't really need to be there we already knew about it it's coming out soon we've got a release date but just because it happened to be there I can say that that was the game I'm most excited for from that show but also P Park 2 I think will be a lot of fun to play together but yeah other than that it wasn't really it's never really for me the switch uh showcases even the big sort of directs aren't aren't really for me but yeah um that's what I'm looking forward to it sort of was this announced ahead of time or was it just of like hey this is this is happening this week I always enjoy that because similarly to Peter like I I do not play much on my switch at all um and I'm not very financially invested in the ecosystem in that if there's a game that I want to play that's coming out that's shown there and is on other platforms as well I'll probably play them elsewhere but they're always like I always find at least a on a base level with no investment personally that they're they're a delight to watch like I enjoy I enjoy watching them they have a nice presentation they always flow excited the man is the man is so excited you got some stilted uh Co-op dialogue that was really well acted in the Indie showcase as well and in the the Indie Showcase in particular as well just nice to see such diverse stuff there we always talk about how that is where the real Innovation happens is the in the Indie space and it's it's always nice to watch an indie showcase and sometimes Come Away with nothing that you're interested in but just see the amount of like weird stuff that people are making and that it's getting a platform and that's really nice um so I don't think there was much here that that I could walk away from it saying I was particularly interested in but you know it's a partner showcase and we are just counting down and until we get that switch to unveil AR we really um if you've not played some of this stuff before then you've got a you've got a lot of stuff on your on your plate coming up I suppose at least even if it's not brand new to be fair like Nintendo do have a few things coming out over the next few months that like people are excited for the new Legend of Zelda game comes out next month um and I personally I'm absolutely gassed for Mario party cuz I love a Mario Party game going have to throw a Mario party I might have to yeah I'm going to have to and everyone has to come Dr as their character of choice oh god um what if you're the the bone man I'm trying to think of what the hardest one to dress up as would be probably that pink weird Yoshi that I can't remember the name of with the big the Snoop oh okay the big whole face or Baby Mario would be weird or like completely silver what like you know they're like silver and gold like rose gold Peach and it's just her but she's made of metal yeah um but yeah I there's a few games that are coming out on Nintendo over the next few months that I'm quite excited for so to see a few Indies was nice and Pico Park is definitely I'm I love Pico Park so I'm excited that they're making a second one I thought maybe they just going to be like it's coming to switch I hadn't realized it was a new one so it was very excited yeah I thought that at first and then I realized I don't remember a level where we were tied together and I was like okay this might be new yeah and then uh I am excited about my Sims I just wish it wasn't £40 for a port but hey maybe I'll give it a go eventually it's just expensive man H if it wasn't expensive though that would be a bit strange wouldn't it it would be a bit peculiar and it would probably make the headlines courtesy of large robertt no large money Robert Las Vegas there we are I got it right in the large cash Robert precisely large Robert it's quite rude actually I'm sorry Bobby um this is the big discussion and big money big money Boby Vegas asks hi Bap Concord released this week to middling reviews with many summarizing the game is fine but unre but as a fine but unremarkable hero shooter given that this seems to be a common summary of many hero Shooters is genre becoming oversaturated what would you do to give okay well thanks so much for listening welcome to the small discussion what would you do to give the genre a shot in the arm or is the hero shooter best shot in the bin into the bin wishing you investment tips from well-informed sources bmbb thank you big money Bobby Vegas thank you very much so uh just to put some things into context here it's got currently sitting on a 63% on Metacritic on PS5 66% on PC uh there was a day one on IGN with the headline D it it has debuted to a tragic 697 Peak concurrent players on Steam and from a couple of days ago I've got this right up from push square and they said in another worrying sign of Concords ongoing viability complaints of lengthy matchmaking times have begun to emerge as the already small player base uh seemingly contracts after the game's launch weekend one PS5 player there's more than that reported waiting up to8 minutes to find a match outside of P CS which is obviously not ideal for a multiplayer only title PC Gamer has been monitoring the situation and it's easy to see where the problem lies at least on PC as of this writing just shy of 200 people are playing on Steam and that number dropped to a low of just 86 off peak a far cry from the weekend's already lackluster high of 697 concurrence as a 5v5 PVP title there are only a few potential matches already some may be full or connectivity might become an issue so something I mean just to before we talk in the in the more in the larger sense uh from big big money Bobby Vegas's question about the the genre it's not looking good for Concord no what do you think they need to do and it needs to happen soon I don't I don't think that unfor unfortunately not to like be the bear of bad news but I don't think there's anything that they can do at this point I think unfortunately it when it already came out with such negative response from M Gamers and then just has not done anything or has nothing special about it to get people to play their game yeah that's the thing we we've said this a lot when it comes to Hero Shooters before we get into that but like it's there's so many out there and the ones that people play they are very much committed to a lot of people will play either OverWatch or Apex for example they won't offer play both so in order to get into that market very much the same with you know your battle Royals you have to have something special going on and unfortunately Concord just didn't have anything special going on the problem is as well with with a lot of them not only is it only saturate oversaturated in terms of just the shear number of games out there but the ones that do come out so many of them just look like OverWatch you know we we see like the next one be re Reve at some showcase or other and we're saying like oh looks like OverWatch oh is it is this OverWatch or is it a new game you know we've made that joke several times already and uh you know it it's like they don't even stand out from each other if someone released one that was like done in a like a cuphead style or you know just something like the fortnite style that's new and fresh as well we haven't seen that one well yeah indeed um but you know I think at least if you're going to just continue to add to this pile of hero Shooters don't make them look essentially indistinguishable to the others cuz Concord really I mean apart from the fact that some of the Cosmetics are absolutely unhinged and like ridiculous have you seen some of these costumes that have been posted online they're like people are just saying has no one heard of color theory over at this studio and they've just like randomized all the sliders effectively is what it looks like they've done yeah just just strange colors weird hairstyles um maybe you can pull some up but um yeah you know there they're all there's there's definitely a level of homogeny here that's like oh if if you're going to do this you need to do something to to stick out I think even just visually if nothing else Jesus yeah that is just all the colors yeah uh this is very predictable but still a shame you know it's it's not I feel sorry for I don't feel sorry for the exacts who said let's make a hero shooter but I feel sorry for the developers I feel sorry for the developers who've been who've been working on this thing and as I said in the review Corner a while back like and as the reviews are saying like as a game in terms of how it plays it there's nothing inherently bad about it it's just very middle of the road like there got no USP really apart from this strange cinematic thing that is going to keep people around as far as I see it there are they have two options because this is this is like make or break time yeah they either have to slash the price of this game which I don't I still don't think is enough people just don't want to people just don't completely forgot you had to pay for it it's 40 yeah it's it's 40 quid or it was $40 anyway especially not now why would you pay for it now when no one else is playing it you not even playing properly or it needs to emergency like be be jettisoned onto PlayStation plus plus as an emergency like it needs whatever update is happening next just put Concord in it just stick it in there as well and people who paid for it you might have to just just refund them some of the cost and you know consider it early access or whatever that they paid for and now it's free to play because that that's going to piss off everyone who did give it in a chat and believe in it 600 people but if they don't if they don't do that it's it's done like it's it's just it's absolutely dead and what a shame yeah like like you say their USP was the kind of the the clips of the the back story and stuff that they were teasing was the thing that they were like you there's a story involved as well at the same time that's the thing and I feel like you can just kind of see what the game started out and where the what the devs wanted to do with it versus what what it became because I feel like these little clips of like we've got a story and the characters are really interesting and every week you'll get a new bit of story I think it's like a really interesting thing but doesn't belong in a hero shooter we saw OverWatch you know they do something very similar with their characters putting all of these clips on YouTube like these really interesting and like I think the most interesting thing about OverWatch is the character like movies that they made I think it's why TF2 did as well as it did as well back in well I think actually there were a lot of reasons why Team Fortress did well but yeah people liked those uh clips that went out as well yeah and I think maybe maybe Concord could have done that and that's what they were aiming to do but it just didn't just wasn't enough yeah it's a very clear-cut case of um just Trend chasing this is we've spoken ad nauseum about how we sincerely hope PlayStation are at least abandoning some of their plans to make loads of live service games obviously hell divers 2 has done really well for them which is probably going to bolster that opinion but there's been a big change of leadership it takes a very very long time to turn a ship like this around and there was some new stories coming out that Concord was in development for about eight years which is insane and um I felt like it really creeped up like I felt like I didn't know anything about Concord and then suddenly Sony were just pushing it everywhere in the space of like a few weeks before it came out well yeah I mean they announced it and then it was out within a month yeah yeah which we've said before like oh that's great love that you do that but there's been no like development of hype it was just like they just threw on the trailer at the end of like their I think it was their state of play or a showcase or something and it was just was like wow that's nothing it's also just not what what people want from first party PlayStation it just that is not what people are after no so in my eyes they've got to stick it on plus and then say to hell with whatever cohesive Universe they're trying to build cuz clearly that is not engaging or interesting for people and put bloody PlayStation characters in it yeah put some put some just like some skins where one of them looks a bit like kattos now you know like that star child one has a beard and he's still using a gun but he looks like kattos that might do some like CU it's desperate time now it's it's absolutely doomed unless they do something you know miraculous to to try and change its fortunes there's just so much ill will towards this game anyway you need to make it free you need to find something that gets people wanting to play and I don't that might be it I'm not sure it wouldn't interest me still but there is a sizable community of players who like hero Shooters hence why PlayStation made one in the first place yeah well it's funny you say about you know for example put kattos in it uh or a skin because uh to answer the other part of Bobby Vegas's question which is you know about the genre in general not how to save Concord but you know how to give the genre a shot in the arm I mean I don't want to give the genre a shot in the arm because I don't want to be for this to be more hero Shooters but to play Devil's avocado um if I was the uh the big hero shooter boss saying how do we get this to work I would suggest that maybe make one uh with a a roster of established well-known characters well that's what Marvel rival it's not and that's why people are excited about it like I couldn't give a toss about a hero shooter and neither could my boyfriend 95% of the time he's like oh yeah I'm actually really excited for Marvel Rivals because like it's going to be interesting you got these different superheroes can play us which I think is is like you say if you've got an established IP then that's a good idea you could do it with like the you know with with the Nintendo family I mean I know they they probably wouldn't want the guns you could maybe make it a bit more sort of like their shooting paint at each other or whatever but you could do a you know almost a Smash Bros style roster of Nintendo characters you could do a PlayStation All Stars One um and you know that that's just console families but you could do it within a specific IP as well I mean i' trying to think of one off the top of my head but you could you could do it with even like fighting game characters or anything you like you know you could get a Tekken hero shooter out again wouldn't want to see any of these cuz I don't want more hero Shooters but that is one way I think that you could potentially release one with a bit more backing behind it in this oversaturated market yeah I definitely think there's way too many and I also think that like a lot of them are really really similar in terms of like the game modes are exactly the same you have to stay with the payload and get it through an entire area to the other end while the other team tries to get it back the other way and like I do think that these games are fun in lots of ways but we already have seen how established franchises like OverWatch given what they did with OverWatch 2 can upset an entire sect of Their audience and push them elsewhere and these and this is like the iconic hero shooter everyone thinks of OverWatch when they think of hero Shooters and they messed it up so I do think that like unfortunately I feel like very much the same with live service and like um what they called Flippin fortnite you know thank you I led the word earlier and it just left my brain um like there's so many of them and you have to be something special and I just don't think that a lot of the ones that are coming out or even being teased or probably being produced are doing anything special they're playing it safe which is what I think Concor did they played it safe they were like let's do a hero shooter with this cast of colorful characters in a colorful world and do some videos about like who they are and what they're going to be like because that's what worked for OverWatch so surely it'll work for us but if you've got nothing going for you if you've got nothing that's going to draw you apart from the crowd like you're the same art style it's very similar or you're just a bunch of random madeup characters no one's ever heard of you've got the big tank guy you've got like the robot the one with the sword you know if you've got if that's your whole bag then you're just like you got nothing to offer anyone it's very difficult feels like the genre might need a bit of a hard reset because you're you're bang on in that unless you're something like a Marvel Rivals you're just not going to get people's attention and even though OverWatch has you know pissed off its fan base over and over again it is still the flag bearer the standard Bearer for that genre and players have been conditioned that this genre going back to Concord should be free to play and so if you're going into it charging if you're if yeah if you're if you're looking to release one one of these games you can't really afford to be putting a price up front which means then that you need to work out other ways to monetize it which is just a whole other kettle of fish in terms of trying not to annoy your nickel and dime your your player base right off the bat like okay well we spent years making this thing and now we know that if we release it even for a a quote unquote budget price people will not be willing to do that so how are we not going to annoy our fan base and our player base while still trying to get as much cash out of them as possible it's it's a really really tricky space to be in and I don't know I just I I'm very much looking forward to whatever write up is going to happen about Concord it's like whatever Jason shrier piece emerges about what on Earth was the thinking behind the scenes cuz it just does feel like own goal after own goal with this thing I also think that an online only 5v5 game mode is no longer enough to just that that can't be your whole game cuz like you said there's so much going on on people were really excited when OverWatch were talking about doing kind of Co-op missions where you know they were part of a story missions and then they bin that off which I think was a huge shame because the the few like um little seasonal ones that they did with OverWatch one I played through and I really enjoyed and that's the only OverWatch I played apart from getting my ass kicked in one game and I was like this is terrible I'm bad and everyone else is really good um but I think that those are really interesting and if you give people the opportunity to play something offline as well as give the opportunity to play the 5v5 yeah okay some people most people would probably just play the 5v5 but at least for when there's only 83 people playing your game you've got things for people to do outside of just the 5 v5s over and over again and they don't have the same it's very much the same like cod multiplayer and the main story and the and the um zombies mode you give people other things to do if they don't want to play online but like your characters they like the world they like the the element of the story that you've created then why not give them something else it just you can't just rely on a hero shooter anymore I think you need something else in your game to bolster it mhm yeah well let us know what you think of everything we've discussed today is Concord doomed and don't just say yes CU you hate it say yes because it actually do um no it's it's not looking good for Concord at all and that's uh that's sad and hope quite a fitting brand
