what's going on everyone chrisan pick dogs.com here with your free pick in the New York Yankees versus St Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball matchup going down Sunday September 1st 2024 just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscrib to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets the games that I love including my daily $19 best bet head on over to piic dogs.com and click the premium picks tab at the top of the page but let's get to this one between the St Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees you got the New York Yankees sending out Nester Cortez for the start in this one while the the St Louis Cardinals will counter with Miles michelas and uh you know Cortez had a rough stretch in the the back end of the month of July and early on in the month of August but now in his last three starts he's been outstanding a 0.44 erra across his last three starts all wins for the Yankees as well and he's only given up the one run and he gave it up last time out against the Washington Nationals across six and two thirs innings at work but still last time he was at home seven shutout Innings now that being said Cortez had struggled at Yankee Stadium there were a couple starts where you know he had some issues against like the Tampa Bay Rays and uh in his last home start before the the Cleveland game against the angels He gave up six runs there as well but despite those struggles Cortez at home this season still a 2.79 erra a 217 opponent's batting average just been a lot more effective at home it's been a lot easier to fade him when he's been on the road um for much of the season but the Yankees when Cortez is pitching at home they went through a bit of a rough patch but more often than not I would say it's it's been solid for uh for Cortez and now takes on a Cardinals team that you know has had decent numbers as of late against left-handed pitching but when you look at their their numbers season long against lefties the St Louis Cardinals you know bottom five in baseball in team Ops they're hitting 233 which is just outside the bottom five as well and I think that Cortez can have solid enough outing here carry over some of his strong form on the other side though you've got miles micheles who's really really had some issues just overall this season he's back to giving up a lot of hard contact he did have six strong Innings a two hit shut out ball at home against the Milwaukee Brewers but then got back to form last time out five and two thirs a four-run ball against the San Diego padr it was it was a no decision at a game that the uh the Cardinals ended up losing in the later Innings by a final score of 7 to5 but in the month of August you know um Michael has had an erra of 6.39 and you know it's just hard to back him in those uh in those Innings I mean you know the the the Cardinal Bullpen still been solid over the last couple weeks in ER around three but you look at the uh at the Yankees their bullpen in the last two weeks has been one of the best bullpens in baseball second best erra in the league at 2.47 so I just think that you know the Yankees have an edge at the plate they have an edge in starting pitching and right now they have have a slight Edge in bullpen play as well I'm going to take the Yankees I'm going to back them on the Run line in this one and that's going to be my free pick but just a reminder if you haven't already make sure you're subscribe to our Channel and smash that thumbs up and if you're looking for my Best Bets you can find those a pick dogs premium while your pick dogs check out our betting tools they're 100% free they're the best betting tools in the business and tools that you want to make sure that you have in your back pocket when you're making your Best Bets for the day's action thanks for watching see you guys soon
