Coach's Trust is Wearing Thin with Ashton Daniels | College Football 25 Stanford Dynasty | Ep. 10

welcome back to the Stanford Cardinal Dynasty where today we travel 2800 miles across the US to play a game of football to North Carolina where we Face the NC State wolf pack we're coming off of a game at home verse Wake Forest that the final score was a lot closer than what that game really looked like 3128 following a strong four quarter comeback Daniels throwing three touchdowns all to a leak aom Manor without him this team would not have been close to involved in this game Irvin really didn't get things going and in fact the brother of one of our players in Hank bachmeier actually had a really good game and the surprising breakout from Tate Carney who going into this game was not the team's primary running back it was Damon Clayborn but he was out due to injury Carney took advantage of his opportunity but as for our opponents today NC State coming off a narrow loss to our rival in Cal 2423 they just could not make it a full comeback in the fourth they are led by a red shirt senior quarterback in Grayson Mcall who to this part of the season has had a really clean year 25 touchdowns only three interceptions 70% completion their senior running back as well in Jordan Waters having a good year averaging 5.7 a rush eight touchdowns and it is red shirt Junior receiver darari Collins who leads them in receiving 13 touchdowns 713 yards on just 40 grabs defensively will need to keep an eye on the right side for Shawn Brown six tackles for a loss and on the opposite side a senior in Davin van has led them in sack seven this year however he is out this game with injury so they'll have to rely on interior maybe a little bit more from that right hand side with just four games left in our season we need to make sure we win as many as possible to avoid a loss in Prestige as we move into our second season so let's get this one underway as the kickoff is booted we've got some rain coming down here as it's a lane that closes for frell send the offense out at the 19 Rous not coming off a strong last game but at times has really been a huge part of this offense we start in pistol with Ashton Daniels and Irvin in the back field handed off down the middle and Irvin finds a lane he'll pick up five it was a lot of hype around him to start the season unfortunately running game has not quite been there at least any consistency Irvin gets the catch here he had a huge game last week 167 seven he's another player we need to make sure we keep well involved so he stays around for his Junior season as we get frell on the Jet Sweep Irving couldn't get the block ends up being a great tackle there from Carter second and eight under center with an ace formation as they'll go little RPO Irvin will just take it down the middle to tack on an extra two that leaves us with a third and six two tight ends to the left as they will throw it to one of their tight end lofted a bad attempt that time from Carter he had a great tackle just a few plays ago that time very very light as it's an RPO they swing it out to frell and a clean tackle that time Zach Meyers The Freshman safety as we go with a roll out here Ashton Daniels under pressure he shakes off the sack he's going to step up he's got a whole lot of grass in front of him at the 10 five diving in it's a scram for Ashton Daniels I don't think anyone downfield knew that he ended up taking off on that one and it's the Wolfpack fans that are just left in pure utter shock at how the game opened up here for their defense now we get to see our defense head the field with Wright who's been a pick artist this year McCall only a handful of turnovers as instead they start with a run and they pick up a gain of five I would definitely say the Russian game has been the weaker side of our defense but I would still love to get a few more picks here on Mall throughout this one as they go with a quarterback draw Sinclair up end he's had some huge games this year and he's had some pretty quiet ones that's been the consistent thing with this team inconsistency with a third and five a chance to get off the field here as Mcall panics he tosses it into the turf and it will be a punt so for the Cardinal who had to fly all the way to North Carolina it's been a great start offense takes over at the 41 with a little bit of some play action rolling to the weak side looking for Rous she will get the spinning grab and up out of bounds of course well documented that the Cardinal are really going after one particular tight end recruit and he keeps bouncing back and forth over whether he's open for him or not so I expect well we also get a little bit of running game going we also definitely look to get the tight ends well involved as we look for the receiver screen get this one out to Tiger who will turn up and pick up a couple of course he coming off a game against his brother last week and he had a solid game a touch down in there but it definitely wasn't his best game back out to Rous and the refs Mark him a little bit short a coach barington is keeping the offense out there hard count no one jumps it's Butler the running back as he doesn't really even have to truck through the defender no he was there slips by picks up the first that seems to be the call of of success for the Cardinal today just simply the defender is not knowing what's happening as there's a receiver open downfield it was Tiger Bach instead Cole forom gets the hit and doesn't go anywhere back down the middle Butler with some ground and pound he picks up seven now'll leave the card needing just three with about 3 seconds here left in the first as they will look for some Slants to open up find a little lane here for AO Manor though it's a great play I believe that is the freshman's safety gets the pick forced it in there as the first quarter comes to an end really puts a damper on what was a great start here for the Cardinal in their away game it's a big play for the wolf pack as their offense takes over to start the second slipping The Tackle and picking up four goes Waters almost in an opposite way the wolf pack relying a lot on seniors rather than the Cardinal who are really focusing in on their strong sophomore Class M although he's going to get sacked by Tobin Phillips he just stepped right into the arms of the big DT leaving third and 12 it's a spread look toiti with some pass rush forces the quick throw and Galvin knocks it away it's another Punt and no drama comes off of the interception essentially which was in the end zone offense takes over at the 32 with the Marilyn eye as Irvin he slips a couple tackles though couldn't keep his feet official stats Market a gain of five for second and five as Daniel's going to have his receiver come in motion they flip it out to frell though he is swallowed up by the pack they' really started to use him a little bit more as a gadget receiver the last few weeks start of the year off with I believe it was three straight games with a touchdown not enough time to get that one off and the pack force their first punt following a quick start from our offense they've settled down as the defenses have taken over this game NC State with a handoff play one it opens up down the middle and they will pick up a first all the way up to the 38 on that one as they send their receiver in motion they go with a Jet Sweep toiti gets taken out and bust into the outside is Collins slipping off the Edwards tackle and eventually taken out by Manley but it's a big gain here for the wolf pack into plus territory as they go hurry up keep one out to the left hand side two to the right full back on the left side/ tight end and they hand it off to Waters will pick up four they've had a good blend of plays so far gotten a lot of guys involved slipping tackles to have been a big part of their game well honestly we could say the same with our big play touchdown earlier on the scramble they're down to the 24 once again sending their receiver in motion he goes to the back field as it's an option here Mcall flips it breaking another tackle event eventually Ramos knocks him down he can do with just a little bit better wrapping up here might need to work on those drills in practice as they hand it off to running back two slips another tackle makes it a gain of seven he's got the wolf pack down to the five for second and three as they look with a spread set we come out with a heavier set and we finally get a clean tackle but before we hit third down quick two-minute warning and they're going to come out with a spread look here we're sticking with our heavier set they will look to pass they've got time eventually getting it out and finding his Target well placed it's the tight end Justin Jolie who levels this game but that does leave our offense with one 55 to try to make something happen and the Wolf Pack playing close down to the line see if we could get someone over the top then or a leak on the drag here he'll find a little bit of some space nice subtle Juke there will end up tacking on a few more out of bounds so far finding him fairly often found the tight ends a little bit as well trying to get everyone involved here as we roll BM he's finding a little bit of space but it just not leading his receivers Ashton Daniels that ball well short and behind not sure what it is about him but he just has not been consistent this year he's had some big games in games by themselves he will have a really good quarter and then a really bad quarter this one setting up the wolf pack to take a lead before half they're down to the 34 they've got three timeouts of their own as McCall will look to pass going to the left hand side that's Jolie who had the touchdown and out of bounds putting him inside the Red Zone just need a little bit more here a little bit more consistency back out to Jolie who's now got him down to the five we'll say pack have changed up their passing a little bit more quick style here it's working avoiding some of the pass rushia we've been getting but it's a lead as they find their receiver it is number 10 Kevin conception and with even less time than we had before 41 seconds can Daniels make something happen we come out with two spread either side just receivers no tight ends out here as he tries to step up he's getting scrunched loss of six it was definitely a slow start here for the wolf pack they've turned things up in the second quarter taking the lead in just a couple minute span as Daniels rolls he dumps this one off Irvin a timeout called by NC stay looks like they're trying to find maybe some more points of their own they've got two timeouts left we've got three but a third and 13 awaits us as no one really gets open eventually frell somehow doesn't find it it's a third pick in the second quarter and they are down to the 10 with 10 seconds left looking for a two-score lead when it rains it poures and it is raining here and it's reigning interceptions for our quarterback in Daniels and touchdowns to the opposite side it's a second for Jolie from there we'll just let halftime hit we were doing so good first quarter than Jolie winoff and Ashton Daniels imploded in the passing game just several pass is off simply put we need a course correction in a major way and it's going to start on defense for the first time in at least a quarter NC State going to have to drive from deep in their own territory as they start with a read option Here Comes Edwards to slow down McCall cleaned up by Sinclair that one will end up going as a gain of three trips to the right hand side here they go Waters as he will pick up about two so quick math leaves them with third and five remaining as he go trips to the left side one to the right looking to pass the ball here and taking a shot downfield it is open for a number four in Collins it's a foot race he won't win but it's a big game did so well first and second give it up on Third and they're down to the 11 bring the blitz here it's a read option the opposite way and flipping it out and finishing the drive make it h four straight touchdown drives NC state has taken well Advantage here that just seems to be the case every week doesn't it we implode by really just one position group we start on offense here in the second half and we pick up a good gain with Irvin maybe we just got to go a little bit more run heavy this half but we are down by three scores so we're going to need some big runs if that's going to be the case losing yards on second definitely does not help so third and four we change it up two receivers to the right hand side here looking for the slant yet again as aom man are to the outside it's over thrown o barington keeps the guys out there but you've got to be wondering if he's going to pull the trigger here on Ashton Daniels he's been sub down in games before we could see that happen yet again as he looks for his tight end here it's Rous will keep the drive alive risky but it works out Irvin now and running game getting stuck only opened up for a couple plays there second and 11 back to the passing game we've got a wide open Rous yet again who will pick up a nice chunk leaving third and two which they come out with two tight ends one receiver either side they're trying to set up the receiver screen here to Bach me and Mayberry couldn't lay a hand on the defender right in front of him oh instead of what should have been an easy first it's a fourth and one offense still staying out there they got bordon and in motion they swing it out to him this time he'll pick up the first down slipping a tackle tur it up and Tack on a couple extra that's one thing we could say about this team is they never quit no matter what mistakes they really force on themselves they keep on going got this one out here for feral turns into double coverage and it will hit the turf that puts the Cardinal in another third in Long situation here they go two to the right one to the left Irving the running back he goes out on a route finds a little bit of some grass but we just can't get it out there the outside passes almost consistently poorly thrown got to find a way to hit those as it's out for frell with some space he's got a easy grab doesn't seem to be too often though that we get those keeping this one moving still we're down to the 24 as it's out for aom Manor on the back shoulder didn't quite go shoulder height but it will be another touchdown for elite a Manor biting back into this deficit here and hopefully that marks the turning point we're about to see what we saw last week with a big comeback but we are to find that comeback we've got to get some big plays on defense as well and with a bad decision to return the kick they start back at the eight once again we just aren't reading the read option that well Edwards comes crashing down and for one of the few times tonight is actually a clean tackle second and 10 now trying to get waters to the outside and he's swallowed up loss of three we can credit the final tackle there to Ramos leaving a third and 13 Mcall looks to just hand this one off and a lane for Waters and he picks up the first finding 15 they only needed 13 and that's just what we cannot allow got to be able to get those stops on defense about a play left here in this quarter they look to swing it and instead across the middle Jolie's having himself a heck of a game it's honestly that kind of game that I think our recruit and Matteo Reverend is looking for as we bring the heat here to start the fourth and stepping up finding his receivers mall has put together a really good game so far need to force him into some amount of mistakes here in the fourth if we're to fight our way back into this one Waters breaks the tackle and still manages the first honestly I'd say their offense kind of running the balance play that we were looking to run this year as we got seven minutes left in this one they will look to pass to the outside and somehow he finds conception the tight coverage we had out there expected us to actually make a play but it's another clean shot downfield conception back again two touchdowns for him on the game and right now mall is just racking him up we've really got to improve this secondary that one's really going to make this one difficult now backed down by three SC scores 628 left the offense takes the field starting at the 25 Daniels rolling he's got a couple options but we'll just have to get rid of this one barely want to say it was Rous who was sitting wide open in the Midfield but instead second and 10 as they've got Shield Taylor in motion going to go with some play action and now Rous wide open again shot up the field and Out of Bounds at the 47 well it definitely hasn't been as good of a game as Jolie for NC State it's still been a pretty solid game for Rous keeping involved as they go back to frell and stuffed those jet sweeps have not opened up today whatsoever changing up the look here then Daniels he'll drop back pass rolling as he looks for Irvin and it's a fourth pick on the game once again it's simply underthrown the sad part is we have seen Daniels throw such nice nice passes he just doesn't do it every time and that's this some things you're going to find here in college ball inconsistency with your quarterbacks and honestly even a lot of the really good college quarterbacks still don't pan out when it comes to the NFL it's a difficult position for sure as a flag comes down here early movement on the o line it's really been about the only mistake NC state has had in almost three qus of play as they hand this one off water as he gets to the outside but it's a loss of two Edwards and a right combin to get the stop bringing up a third and nine they got two receivers to the left and they hand this one off slipping it Waters will end up picking up one but at the 42 it is too far for a field goal and we're looking to now average at least a touchdown a minute here the only way we're getting back into this one as it's a tight end screen to find her rou Mayberry with two Big Blocks Will Spring us up to the 30 and it's hurry up from there just right back to it take another shot down here as there is a penalty down aom Manor though gets the catch couldn't slip away but what is the flag going to be ineligible man downfield absolutely brutal for the Cardinal who just had a huge play and they've only really found those late on in these games to aom Manor though they've got tiger coming across and that passes about 40 yd short again not sure what's up with Daniels sometimes he just his arm just doesn't do it I think that's the simple thing to say he just can't get it done at times but at other times he looks great another shot here he finally finds Irvin had this opportunity last drive it got picked perhaps he at least learns from his mistakes in game doesn't transfer to the next game 310 left on the clock Daniels back to some play action he's got Rous with some grass down two though the ball pops out and it's a turnover NC State steps out at the 10 just simply can't not bury ourselves let's see if we could at least limit any more points in this game wat stopped loss of two will bring up second and 12 with trips to the left hand side they got their tight end loone to the right hand side on the line expect they run on the ball here indeed they do Waters barely getting by the line of scrimmage they will give him a gain of about half a yard bringing up third and 11 and Sinclair diving he misses spinning Waters stopped by labor I think the simple truth here for the Cardinal is that outside of a couple teams no team has really beat them they just continually beat themselves with their mistakes as a leak aom maner once again he finds some big space late on in these games he really is just patting stats at this point whether that's going to be for another season with the cards or is he going to look to transfer that is the worry but it's a hurry up here as we're inside we're about at a minute Mark left again coming across though why not make it five picks a great job from the corner adjusted from the last play and that will do it turnovers turnovers turnovers it's almost the same thing thing every week the offense shows they can move the ball and then they literally just give it up whether it's fumbles interceptions Grayson McCall though fantastic game 85.7% complete R DBS couldn't handle the passing game today we did all right in stopping Waters but they got literally every single receiving option going four or five different guys with at least probably 50 yards in this one our only real big play came on the Daniel scramble but NC State they earned that win after the year we've seen from all of these quarterback options Daniels 20 interceptions 14 touchdowns Lamson didn't see a whole lot but he just doesn't have the speed to be out there and Jackson who has the best accuracy ratings three interceptions one touchdown none of these quarterbacks seemingly seem like they have what it takes so with three games left I think we use the rules to our advantage to get a look at what we have in the future we have a freshman quarterback here in Elijah Brown who we decided to give a rest Year let Lamson Jackson and Daniels try to figure their stuff out and if it didn't work fine now with Elijah Brown we don't have as much speed as what we have with Ashton Daniels but more so than our other quarterback options in terms of his arm he actually has more throw power than any quarterback we have on this team accuracies they need some development short is the worst middle is actually tied for the best and deep is again tied for the best so he's still there's some good a little bit to work on throw on the run is better than anyone though throw Under Pressure it's the worst so there's a little bit of give and take he has some decent break tackle ability as well I think we've got to see what we have here in Elijah Brown because that because if he essentially can't take over we don't really have full trust in Ashton Daniels I think we either have to really start to look at what quarterbacks we could bring in in the recruiting class or when it hits the trade portal time we got to go heavy there and I was already thinking we got to go heavy for the offensive line especially with after the news from our last game we were in the lead for quite a long time here for Devin Bostic but Texas decided to come in and well frankly they're doing better than we are so Devin bosk decided to essentially end his recruiting with us and he verbally committed to Texas one positive is we did get Terence Poe but we can't keep having to rely on getting these recruits for the positivity of the episode we've got to win some games we need players in the games to have good ones and then if we get the recruits all the better as for the quarterback options that we already have been looking at for this recruiting class Cliff Kumar is becoming increasingly closer to deciding to to go to Cal so we'll probably end up seeing him as for Chad Lloyd we are in first Notre Dame is pursuing so we really might have to look at what the transfer Porter holds or just hope that we're going to see a really good game from Elijah Brown as for where we're going to start to spread those new points that we now have available well there is a fourstar receiver who no one has gone after right now he's favoring Ohio State he's from Florida it's not a pipeline at all but might as well try to add some more talent to that group so let's off for a scholarship and let's go ahead and send the house additionally we're also going to look at two more centers here because we could use as much help for the offensive line as possible so again for both of them we are going to send the house and offer a scholarship and that'll actually end up being the perfect amount of points for all three of these guys so our points are spent and after we move through the by we we then Land one of the centers in Joshua Maza we've been going after him for quite some time so that is good news we have had one offensive lineman decide to come here so we'll definitely have to look for that in the transfer portal now we haven't talked about Matteo Reverend quite so yet we are still just outside his deal breaker and on top of that Texas Tech has come in and just swept away so no longer will we have Matteo Reverend to look after so we are officially removing him we have three other tight ends all of which blocking would prefer a little bit more of a possession or a little bit of a vertical threat but any help we could get I think is needed now one thing it didn't show me as we jump to the next week was in fact Cliff Kumar did verbally commit to go to Cal so we will be seeing him at some point in the future we will remove him there is still Chad Lloyd though Notre Dame is pushing very very close and they could very well overcome us so we've added another quarterback here this one from Hawaii hopefully he ends up being the guy that does finally decide to come here once again we'll give him the scholarship and we will send the house and with 50 points left I was planning on scheduling a visit here for one of these tight ends but the glitch has happened again I thought they fixed this but I can't schedule a visit despite him being prepared to schedule a visit it even says he's in the ready to visit category so we won't be going after him any of the time ends in fact all of these guys are currently blocked to schedule a visit so that's fun with the final remaining points I added a kicker here that we're going to go after now he does have decent accuracy 76 and that slider thing looks pretty high in Kick power so I'm just assuming it's going to be at least solid we need a kicker for the future cuz we can't keep relying on our punter to do everything but that is where we leave it off here one and eight so at best we're going to be essentially having the same record that the team has had the last handful of Seasons so we really need to at least match that with hate for Coach barington to have the worst record in probably the last I don't know 50 years I would have to do research on that Louisville up next and we're
