49ers Crush Jets on Monday Night Football!!

Intro [Music] this is Jake Moody and here on Josh's football breakdowns we don't tell you what you're seeing we let the film tell us what you're seeing Jake Moody eight for eight on his kicks in this game six for six on field goals and two for two for extra points thank you very much for that introduction Jake and yeah what we saw on Monday Night Football was the 49ers absolutely dominate the New York Jets offensively and defensively welcome back to another season of Josh's football breakdowns there's a lot of great plays I want to show you in this game so let's get right into it both teams would go three and out to start the game in fact this would be the only time we would see the 49ers punt in this game so we're going to pick things up here on the Jets second possession both the center and Fred Warner Forced Fumble the tight end head downfield at the snap this is going to be a screen pass to Breeze Hall and take a look here at the eyes of Fred Warner he's watching Aaron roders and as soon as he realizes that this ball is going to Breeze Hall and not the tight end he reacts to the play and it's a fumble on just the second possession of the game and the 49ers recover wow this defense which has been Elite in years past looks like it's going to be elite Elite again in 2024 and here we get a great look at the peanut punch that knocks the football loose the 49ers would immediately capitalize with Jake Moody's first field goal of the game making the score San Francisco 3 New York zero facing a key third down and eight the Jets would respond San Francisco would send a six-man Blitz leaving just one safety back deep so Aaron Rogers knows that he has Garrett Wilson one-on-one against dador Lenor and Lenor is in good position but his back is turned so Rogers throws the football and Wilson makes a great catch first down [Music] Jets moving ahead in the drive the Jets would punch it in with Bree Hall Brock P's teammate at Iowa State and not just his teammate but also his runemate as well so the Jets take the lead 7 to3 and the 49ers look to get their offense going now one of the big storylines heading into this game was that Christian mcaffrey was injured and unable to play so Jordan Mason would get the start and here he gets a chance to do what he does best running the football and this was his time to shine and did he ever a gain of 13 yards on the play and part of a big day running the football for Jordan Mason and this play was made possible with excellent blocking the 49ers bring Eric shabber across to pick up the defensive end and this allows George KD and Colton mckivitz to get up to the linebacker level allowing Jordan Mason to do the rest 147 rushing yards and 5.3 yards per carry on the day for Jordan Mason after a terrific pass breakup by SAS Gardner the 49ers would be facing their first key third down of the ball game in this time it's New York who decides to send the blitz rushing with five and leaving just one safety back deep Brock pry sees that Brandon auk has leverage on the defensive back and he decides to throw it to him take a look at this Brandon auk hasn't even started his break yet turn your attention to the pocket Brock is already winding up to throw this football and it's worth noting early on here that the 49ers pass protection in this game was outstanding moving ahead a little you can see we're in the second quarter now so the team switch sides but this is still the same drive and once again the 49ers are facing a third down and here we see our first trick play of the Season Brock py hands the ball to Jordan Mason who's going to give it to Deo Samuel on the reverse but this play is blown up by two players from the New York Jets the first is Germaine Johnson the linebacker who gets great penetration on this play forcing Debo Samuel to take this ball a little bit further back than he wants to and the second is Quinn and Williams the outstanding defensive tackle for the Jets he recognizes the play now you would think that ordinarily Debo should be able to outrun a defensive tackle but because he had to take this ball a little bit deeper than he wanted to it gives Quinn and Williams time to react to the play and allow the pursuit to catch up to Debo now I showed you this play because at the end here we would see something significant and that would be S Gardner who said he got the wind knocked out of him making this tackle he said he wasn't injured but he would miss most of the rest of the first half so the 49ers would be forced to settle for another field goal and this would be a long one a 51 y the kick is up it's on the way you can see how far it has to go and it clears the bar it's good so the 49ers add to their score making it 7 to6 Jets and San Francisco would get the ball back 49ers TD Drive and here the 49ers fake the handoff to Jordan Mason and with Mason running the ball so well in this game it's understandable that the defense would react when they realize that Mason doesn't have the football they scramble to get back in position and with the defensive backs way downfield defending Brandon auk and George KD Brock py sees that he has a lot of green grass in front of one of those Defenders even has his back turned so he takes it himself we forget sometimes how sneaky athletic Brock pie really is later on in the drive the 49ers would be facing a second down and 19 let's take a look at their approach and right off the bat we can see that the 49ers have sent Brandon auk and Jaan Jennings deep and rather sensibly on second and long the Jets have decided to leave two safeties back there but the 49ers also had George KD and Isaac gendo run shallower routes forcing these underneath Defenders to sit up Brandon auk goes deep taking his safety with him and allowing Jan Jennings the opportunity to run away from the other safety Brock py throws a strike and it's a 22 yard gain on the dagger route and just take a minute to appreciate the job that rookie guard Dominic puny is doing on this offensive line the 49ers hand it to Mason who takes it into the end zone for a touchdown but take a close look at the end of the play here we see Debo Samuel holding SAS Garder now I think that Debo could have let him go and I don't think that Garder would have made the play on Jordan Mason in fact a lot of the times officials won't even bother to throw the flag on that play but here they did you know it's a tough call but an accurate one so after a strange first and nine from the 16 the 49ers gained three yards and are facing second down in six at the snap Center Jake brindle has the difficult task of snapping the ball and then immediately taking on the defensive tackle Trent Williams as you would expect takes on the defensive end and both of these blocks are one-on-one allowing Aaron Banks and Eric shert to get up field clearing the way for Jordan Mason let needing only to punch it in from the two the 49ers hand the ball to Jordan M no no they hand it to Debo Samuel and he Powers his way into the end zone for a touchdown Kittle Big Play wow so San Francisco takes the lead 13 to7 and after another three out by the Jets they would get the ball back again and take a look at who the 49ers have lined up in the backfield no it's not Jordan Mason it's Debo Samuel and after what just happened it's a little bit understandable that the Jets hesitate just a little bit here but when you hesitate you become a spectator and George KD blows right by them facing third and three the 49ers put Debo Samuel in motion and his Defender goes with them telling the 49ers that this is man-to-man coverage now one way you can deal with manto man coverage is this sort of stacked release where Debo's running right right behind the other receiver here making it difficult for his man to stay on him and giving him just enough of a window to get open to the inside [Music] all right we're getting close to the end of the half so let's take a minute to talk about the game situation here there's 32 seconds left and it is a running clock but you can see the 49ers have a first and 10 and two timeouts remaining so everything is available to them in the Playbook in fact as we snap this football here we can see that the 49ers have Jordan Mason and George KD in the backfield so the Jets decide to leave one safety back deep and they drop a second safety down into the box and as we move forward a little bit we see that once again the 49ers are running these shallower routes forcing these underneath Defenders to hold and with just one safety back deep and in the middle of the field Jaan Jennings is essentially one-on one at the top and he wins his one-on-one matchup and Pie puts the ball right on him moving ahead another play we can see that it's now second and 10 and the 49ers have used both of those timeouts so with just 17 seconds left they're really forced to take a shot at the end zone here and of course it's difficult on the offense when the defense knows what you're going to be doing but here Brock pry makes an absolutely perfect throw to Brandon auk oh and he just can't quite hang on there was a lot of discussion about this after the game and should fans be concerned about Brandon auka no I I don't think so just a little bit of rust he'll be good to go as the season progresses what a beautiful throw that was by Brock pie though in any event the 49ers close out the half with a jake Moody field goal making the score 16-7 they've scored a lot in this game but haven't quite opened it up but they would get the ball to start the third 49ers 2nd TD Drive quarter and on the second play of the third quarter check it out it's our old friend Solomon Thomas who gets by Aaron Banks and this was one of the few times in this game that the 49er pass protection would get beat nevertheless Brock Pie somehow is able to get this football to Debo Samuel and he gets 10 yards and a first down on the play I really liked that play because that's a play that the Jets probably should have won yet you have two special players for the 49ers Brock pie and Debo Samuel who turned what should have been either a sack or a minimal gain into a first down wow Juice Big Play and here we get to a real interesting moment in the game we can see up top Kyle yek is streaking to the end zone and he's being defended by S Gardner but s Gardner essentially turns him loose keeping his eyes on George KD who is after all the real threat right and I have been critical of Kyle Shanahan in the past for this very reason you know why would you send your fullback streaking to the end zone like that it's a bit of a strange use of personnel well on the flip side if you're the defense you can't turn that guy completely loose either I mean that's just horribly complacent and a few plays later Kyle Shanahan decides to take advantage of it so how did they do this well they start out by sending Brandon auk and Debo Samuel deep as if they're headed straight for the End Zone these guys are major threats they have to be accountable for and both corners and both safeties go with them it completely takes those four Defenders out of the play you can sort of think of it as they're taking those four Defenders completely off the field next they fake the hand off to Jordan Mason and this draws the full attention of Ashton Davis who completely ignores Kyle use because after all Jordan Mason is the real threat right and Kyle yusek just blow goes right by him to an area of the field where we know there are no longer any Defenders and of course the final piece of the puzzle is Brock P's deep ball accuracy and we can see Kyle huse Che he always jokes that he gets stopped at the three yard line well sorry Kyle it happened to you again what do you need to throw the ball deep time and this time the 49ers do punch it in with Jordan Mason touchdown San Francisco let's go back to the snap once again this play was made possible by great blocking this time from George KD and Debo Samuel [Music] Fowles INT so the 49ers go at Big Now 23 to7 and we're halfway through the third quarter the Jets have got to get something going they've got to get their offense going here one once again Aaron Rogers spots Garrett Wilson working against dador Lenor and again Lenor has good coverage but this time his back isn't turned and he's able to make a play on the football and it is intercepted by the 49ers wow if you're the Jets when it rains it pours and if you're the 49ers this defense is making big plays in this game [Music] a penalty would move the 49ers back but Jordan Mason would continue to do his thing picking up tough yards on the ground he reminds me so much of Mary and Barber the drive would lead directly to another Jake Moody field goal attemp M but again this is a long one 53 yards the kick is up and it's good 53 yards Jake Moody makes his fourth field goal of the game and the 49ers are up 26 to7 Vintage Aaron Rodgers now but here we would see a vintage Aaron roders play Leonard Floyd gets a great jump on the ball I mean so great we can actually see it's a bit of an obvious problem the football hasn't been snapped yet this is going to be a free play for the New York Jets Alan Lazard goes deep and you can see he's not even past the defense yet he's already raising his hand because he knows he's going to be wide open and Aaron Rodgers delivers a terrific pass 40 yds down the field wow [Music] [Music] so the Jets make it 1326 but they still have to give the ball back to San Francisco here and once again we're going to see Debo Samuel up top making use of that stacked release but this time instead of going to the inside he goes to the outside and it's a little bit difficult for the defender to get over there now there's not a a big window here but it's enough of a window certainly for Brock pie and Debo Samuel and then he's able to make a man miss turn up field and gain 25 yards on the play Joan Jennings goes in motion and we can see that once again the jets are in a man-to-man defense and here we can see the Jets have called a green dog Blitz they're rushing with their front four and we see Quincy Williams here but he's responsible for Jordan Mason if Jordan Mason stays in to help with pass protection he can Rush the quarterback but Mason goes out for a route so Williams backs off either way the Jets only have one safety back deep they're in manto man and Brandon auk wins his man-to-man matchup and if we can again have some Dominic puny appreciation time watch how fast he reacts when he realizes Williams isn't going to Blitz he immediately reacts and moves to help on Third and nine and needing to defend the end zone the Jets adjust their defense this time putting two safeties back deep and only rushing with four and they stay in the man-to-man defense and this time it's Jaan Jennings who wins his one-on-one matchup and you can see Jennings is stopped just short of that line again bringing up a huge fourth down and one and whenever we talk about whether a team should go for it on fourth down you're told to think of it from the perspective of what happens if you don't get it so let's look at it that way if the 49ers don't pick up this fourth and one they'll still be up multiple scores in the fourth quarter and the Jets will be backed up it's a lowrisk high reward option nevertheless Kyle Shanahan opts to go for Jake Moody's fifth field goal instead which still only puts them up by 16 it's still a two-score game even with the field goal I thought this was a bit of a missed Opportunity by the 49ers here nevertheless the Jets would get the 4 Down Stop ball and it would be the 49er defense that would close out this game with a key four down sequence let's take a look at it they start off sending Garrett Wilson deep taking his man with him and the Jets recognize that they have Bree Hall matched up one-on-one against a linebacker and importantly it's not Fred Warner it's the other linebacker dandre Campbell case in point Hall makes Campbell Miss and gains some yardage on the play but take a look at the very end of the play you see his foot go out of bounds and he's holding the football behind him now you have to excuse my drawing here but I've drawn the first down line and then I've drawn the the line where the ball is you can see that ball is just barely short of the line to gain so it's not a first down it's going to be second down and one here on second down Rogers completes the football to Garrett Wilson but again look at his foot his toe is on the line just like in the Baltimore Ravens game that would be an incomplete pass bringing up third down in one and Bree Hall is stuffed no gain on the play and take a look it was number 91 that got great penetration on the play no it's not Eric Armstead I believe that is Sam okay you know so it's fourth and one and the game is on the line for the Jets and ordinarily you might run the ball here but when you have Aaron Rogers on your team you can put the ball in Aaron Rogers hands and he throws it behind the receiver and it is incomplete let's take another look and it's Isaac yadam that Dove for that ball everyone's favorite player who was showing out in training camp turnover on down San Francisco is awarded the football they hand it to Jordan Mason and here we see another excellent example of his vision the most natural move would be to run right through the hole here but you can see the defender is sitting up to meet him in the hole well Mason makes him look a little bit silly he just continues on to the outside for big yardage the 49ers would cap up off the Final Thoughts, Extra Special Thanks drive with Jake Moody's Sixth and final field goal of the game Jake Moody was six for six on field goals two for two for extra points he made all eight of his kicks the Jets would score in garbage time making your final score San Francisco 32 New York 19 well what a game from the San Francisco 49ers week one they completely dominated their opponent the New York Jets offensively and defensively scoring on eight consecutive possessions defensively they came up with two huge turnovers and a key fourth down stop they limited the Jets and what they wanted to do and San Francisco who had a very turbulent offseason looks to be in midseason form we'll see if they can keep this up on the road on a short week they've got a lot of those types of games this year but I think the 49ers are in great shape how can you think anything else after having seen this first game well I won't drone on too much about it I do want to take this opportunity to give a tremendous thank you to everybody who has supported this Channel I
