Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell FRUSTRATING Loss to The Minnesota Lynx

um I think we could have executed a little bit better on offense but they're a really good defensive team so uh we got a little stagnant we didn't get out in transition probably as much as we would have liked but um we did some good things but also some some things we can learn from the second quarter was was some guys brought all the way back within one could have been the lead right I mean that's the positive I guess you take from this appre I think that flow that you saw in the second quarter if we could piece it it together for a longer stretches I mean that would be IDE what was the crowd atmosphere like out there it felt like there wasn't really a home team sometimes with the reactions everyone was getting oh girl e Square she's keep you know I think she does a really great job of like you know I think kayln specifically as a household name and I think that she's G continue to you know bring in the arena and kind kind of like put us in a position to have all the fans in the world so I mean I obviously hats off to her but you know I give her grace because it's it's a it's a lot to take on I think she's done a really good job with it yeah I mean I think obviously a lot of people here that wear fever stuff or wear you know Caitlyn Clark shirt whatever but at the same time they understand really good basketball and they can appreciate what the links did and who links are um and also their history like they know who my MO is they know you know she's one of the best of all time so they're here to celebrate her and appreciate her too and um yeah I mean I think you definitely have those loyal leags fans you heard them sometimes too and then you certainly heard a crowd that just loves basketball and was there to celebrate it and honestly it was a great great game like the offense was great it was up and down both teams were tired um so I think it was just a great display of women's basketball honestly what's being here on and and before we uh get on to the next reporter that crowd was going crazy for Caitlyn Clark in the Indiana Fever it it was I was a little shocked watching it live like oh my gosh that's their crowd yeah that that that effect from Caitlin is is BR I've never seen it before like this where they're celebrating my after to you it's it's it's awesome it's cool um you know I think it's it's a great environment for her she definitely deserves it and obviously they had tremendous crowds when she was here playing um and they won the finals a few times and um you know it's cool to play in front of her like she's court side and you look over like that's your childhood Idol so you got to pinch yourself a little bit at times and you know be thankful for the moment and enjoy it and still compete and be lucky that you get to do this at the highest level was out last time you guys Place how did that did her being in the lineup change thanks I mean she she's the the staple of their team like she does so much for their team you know there was a few times she made a few shots and I caught myself like dang like can't guard that like and I don't really do that often but she there was a few times where she made like she made a tough Runner I think on the left side there in the second half off the off the glass outside the paint and ab played really good defense there's nothing you can do but take the ball out and go down the other way and tell her good job like you know there's moments like that in the game and I thought you know she had quite a few of those tonight but she's been playing really well um and you know there were still some things where we could have done a little bit better job on other people when we did take her away in the half court that kind of killed us got last one on Zoom Mike loal go ahead yeah this is just for um for Caitlyn you and Kelsey obviously have been scoring the ball really well um really since the The Break um and you guys have been rebounding well you guys I think won the rebounding battle by 13 is the is the post scoring something you feel like can um can come a little bit more or do you also sort of balance the fact that I mean you're playing the hottest team I think right now in the league I I just wonder what your thoughts are on that definitely playing the hottest team in the league um I thought that AB was working really hard on defense especially when they changed the matchup to her guarding fi and that can take a lot out of you um so I thought that times that probably you know maybe made her a little tired um that's how much attention fee demands but also AB is you know a corner piece of our offense we have to find a way to get her some easy looks like we just we didn't go to her enough honestly and I thought even in the fourth quarter we we turned away from her um that's who we need to go to um but she was really good seven seven o boards 15 rebounds total I thought she played really good defense um but when she's you know having to exert herself so much on somebody that's you know one of the best players in our league we have to find a way to get her a few more easy looks um I thought we could have done a little bit better better job there but um one of our keys you know to the game tonight was to play inside out I think at halftime we had 26 paint points I don't know what we finished with um but I thought we could have got it in there a little more specifically to AB right I mean that was that's what you'd like to see all the time yeah yeah look man before we continue with Coach sides I do want to talk about some things when it comes to this Indiana Fever team you know they are playing the links it's one of the best teams in the league if not the best team in the league they're on a heater right now I don't know when's the last time they lost the game um which I think was maybe the storm and that was what three four I don't even know they're they've been winning ball games so you know that's no excuse I think the fever didn't come out as hot as I would have liked them to me personally you know the star from Caitlyn Clark one for eight couple turnovers here and there there's no one really to blame I just I like where we got to the point going into the half where we are fighting right there we're 44 to 45 and then they're just down the stretch we just weren't making the timely shot to give us that spark we were in the game but we just weren't hitting those go-ahead shots we were hitting shots just to stay right there we didn't really have that switch so I mean the girls fought you know wasn't the best game from Caitlyn I think Aaliyah Boston had a tremendous game I actually see her doing doing things I haven't seen her do before actually I've seen her do it before but just not like to this aggression she looked real physical out there and I like that from Aaliyah Boston I think she talked a little bit of trash just a little bit and she wasn't trying to like hand the ball over to one of the Link's players something like that but besides that the team in general I I think this team needed something like this you know now how are you going to bounce back that's the big question because if you can bounce back and get a win now we put oursel back on the right track but we cannot let this trickle down we cannot let this trickle down I think you put up 80 points versus a team like this with a defense like this with with the defensive game plan how they had to come and trap Caitlyn Clark like that yeah you know what are you going to do at that point you guys got to figure that out you got to have your team come to you and the players from the fever man you guys can't just stand around you guys got to get involved Kelsey Mitchell did a great job tonight of course Kelsey Mitchell is a key player to this team Kelsey Mitchell definitely needs to resign to the fever man unless we have our eyes set on something else right now I don't see much on the market as far as the two guard goes but Kelsey Mitchell mentioned something in this interview pretty much you know calling Caitlin Clark C square like look she's going to continue to bring the fans man I'm just blessed to have a fan base like this like you guys got to understand the opportunity and what's really going on with the Indiana Fever behind Caitlyn Clark so that's one thing I was excited to hear from Kelsey Mitchell you know but I just think this team they just didn't have it tonight they weren't hitting the shots Lexi Hall you know she went like three for four why are we not taking more shots Lexi why are we not getting more shot attempts up Lexi you went three for four of shooting all the way into like the third and I think you might have even finished with more than four shots made Nelissa Smith looked drained out of it didn't have any pep in the step I don't know if it was because she only got 10 minutes of play time but she went 0 for four from the field I didn't like that at all Katie you know samelson or Lou Katie Lou samel S I mean bro no production no production uh we got to get more production I think AB Aaliyah I mean Aaliyah Boston Kelsey Mitchell and caylin Clark combined for probably 85% of the points 80 85% of the points tonight we're going to need everybody to be involved B in to continue to win ball games everybody the here Co SI has to say I get you guys out of here um start that is a really good basketball team that is a really good basketball team to be Vegas twice and then come in here and play the way they did hit the shots they hit on a back toback um just a just a really good basketball team you know there's some things that we've been really working on um that we weren't our best at night was just transition defense I don't think we got back in transition D very well gave them some open looks early um got to do better with that but that's also starts with taking care of the basketball I think we had 16 turnovers for 16 points and we the two games at home this last weekend I think we had or 11 turnovers um so just you know again that's a really good basketball team we are trying to to get to who they are so with that in mind you kind of could take some weird positives out of this in the sense you did you were down what one at half time one and half yeah brought it back from 16 or 13 I can't remember 15 fought back play some really good defense in the second quarter I think we had some some players in there who really got impr pressure the basketball and then that allowed us to get out in transition when we got those stops um but just to start just didn't get those stops and they were able to get out and transition get some buckets and the same in the third quarter um tamy obviously 16 minutes I think the return just what did you like about her today yeah her energy you know she's she hadn't been with us in a while we we're doing some things differently so we just got to get her you know she just practiced for the first time this week so just got to get her some practice time get her some reps um so that way we're all on the same page on both ends of the the floor but I mean she's she's energy I mean she's she's speed she was trying to set a drag a couple times early and I said no you you run to the rim that other post is gonna set the scre and it looked like you kind of experimented with a couple different rotations obviously ab and dtis and then T and dtis as well just what were you trying like what were you trying to do with like the new rotations yeah it just kind of was going well for us when dtis went in and you know when things are going way you want to just kind of keep it the same you know ab and D play well together um they can you know I think a started our C you a little bit which was good I thought she did a great job on her um but those two are just you know they make smart basketball reads dtis can can post you up she has some great post mes when she caught it she can also stretch the defense who just having those two out there um but that veteran D Springs a veteran um presence out there on both ends of the floor she was the person for me look man not not too excited right now about Chrissy sides and the whole lineups and all the switching and new rotations and I I I I think we are doing perfectly fine I understand Timmy's a great player very athletic player but we had momentum and I could easily see Nelissa Smith checked out today she didn't look B and she looked checked out didn't look happy and that could just ruin the team's energy man and they suck and that just shows being selfish we cannot have selfish basketball if we are going to make it far in the playoffs plain and simple Caitlyn Clark work on the turnovers you can argue that some of these turnovers just trying to make a open pass out in front to to Lexi Hall I think two two or three times just overshot it you know we can't have that and we cannot have turnovers that lead to 16 points in transition we cannot have that that is going to kill us and eat us up we cannot have that man so besides that I got a lot to talk about I'm going to drop a lot of videos but this one you're going to feel on the chest a little bit but how are we going to bounce back Caitlyn Clark you need to tighten up a little bit I don't want to see you huffing and puffing I don't want to see the attitude out there I don't want to see that I got I got another video about that actually I don't want to see that man straight up so besides that I I do think we fought hard with a with arguably the
