The Race We've ALL BEEN WAITING FOR || Sydney McLaughlin's 400 Meter World Record Attempt

in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games Michael Johnson set the track on fire with an Olympic sprinting double for the ages and this was the 200 and 400 m double in the 400 m Johnson torched the track taking the win with a new olympic record time of 43.494365 to set a new world record time of 19.32 a time that by all accounts was practically impossible just a few months prior Johnson's sprinting skill set was so unbelievable the many saw him as the single greatest athlete in the world at this point and with his golden Racing shoes that became one of the most iconic and talked about attractions in the entire Atlanta Olympics Johnson had just become a certified legend in the sprinting world now it's one thing to achieve the 100 and 200 m double which is a double that various athletes have managed to achieve over the past Century but the 200 and 400 met double is something entirely different while a handful of athletes have pulled off the 100 and2 200 met crowns only a very select few have ever done the 2400 crowns and these athletes include Michael Johnson in 1996 Marie Jose perek from France also in 1996 and Valerie Brisco hooks from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic ypics to find success in the 200 and the 400 you need unbelievable strength and world class natural sprinting speed and even though this double is one of the most demanding tasks in all of Athletics one special athlete right now is set to attempt this double in this year's domond League meeting in Brussels Belgium and many do believe that this double could be achieved against the world's best and it's all because of what happened on May 18th of this season for this half laap race at the 24 Los Angeles Grand Prix we had one of the biggest clashes of the year so far in this race we had Britney Brown Rashida Adel Jenna prandini Kendall Ellis Abby Steiner and we also had the eventual Olympic champion over the 200 meters Gabby Thomas from the United States but we also had a surprise visitor in this event who was coming off of the 400 meter hurdles and this athlete was Sydney mclin levone who achieved one of the most dominant and surprising wins of 202 four right off of the start McLaughlin was on a mission and even though this is not even her primary running distance she took off and she never looked back this was honestly crazy because she was competing with various national champions and even Olympic medalists over the 200 but despite being the slight Underdog here she came away with a huge win in 2207 seconds a time that was more than 2/10 faster than anyone else in this field this victory was honestly not supposed to happen at least not like this but given mlac and levrone's Unstoppable buildup to this year's Olympic Games it only made sense that she won this race as well this brings us to the new breaking news that is Sydney mclin levrone because after her huge gold medal win in the Paris Olympics and the 400 hurdles where she once again broke her own world record she is officially set to run in not just the 400 m but also the 200 100 m in this year's Diamond League finals in Brussels Belgium now it's already a big deal that mclin is even competing on the diamond League circuit this season in fact since 2020 she has only competed in one Diamond League event and this was the 400 meters that took place in 2023 in Paris so her presence here is already creating a huge amount of buzz but this double this 20400 meter Gauntlet of a two-day event is something that many believe is simply impossible especially given the massive talent coming from around the globe to this event but others are saying that if anyone could do this it would be CD mlac levrone Now the 200 m is certainly set to be an exciting event as she will likely be racing against many Olympic finalists and this race will likely result in a sub 22 second Mark and this half-lap race will also give Sydney the chance to prove to the world that she is also a very talented power Sprinter and she can practically compete with anyone when she chooses but the 400 met Dash in my personal opinion is looking to be one of the clear highlights of this year's Diamond League finals because in my mind and in the minds of many others Sydney might be the single person to challenge the world record in this event now the 400 meter world record on the women's side actually goes all the way back to the 1985 season when Marita Koke from East Germany ran a time of 47.6 seconds for decades and DEC decades now this world record has never really been approached as no other athlete has even broken 48 since she set this Mark in 85 now Beyond this Mark being obviously very quick This Record has also been shrouded in layers of doping accusations and performance-enhancing Drug questions but to this day this performance of 47.6 still stands as the official world record indeed there's really been no athlete who has set forth a genuine world record attempt in this event but what city mlac lron did in this year's Olympic Games in the 4x400 relay might actually give her a chance to attack this record now in this 4x4 mlin ran the fastest second leg split of all time with a 400 time of 47.71 which is undeniably impressive but it's worth mentioning that she did get a running start for this split while the open 400 does require a block start at the beginning either way mlac and levrone's explosive power power and insane sprinting strength proved that she is quickly becoming a 400 m Legend and speaking of strength it is also worth mentioning that just 2 days before this relay she ran her 400 hurdles world record in 50.37951 second 400 would already be a worldclass time that would be competitive in pretty much any competition but Sydney ran this with 10 hurdles in her way so many see her as the athlete to poten Al challenge not just the 48C barrier but the world record of Marita Koke now in terms of scheduling this year's Diamond League finals are a two-day event with Sydney's 400 race coming on Friday September 13th and her 200 meter dash coming the very next day on September 14th so with this one full day of rest there's a chance that she could absolutely throw down in both of these Sprints but back to the 400 for just a second in this year's Olympic finals we saw one of the quickest open 400s to ever go down with every single Athlete on the women's side running under the 50-second barrier but up front with a new olympic record was M lady Pino who now ranks as the fourth fastest onlap athlete of all time at 49.1 7 this matchup will be super exciting to watch because the last time that mlac and levrone was in a diamond League event she actually took second place to you guessed it Paulino herself in the 400 and for this race Paulino ran a time of 49 9.12 with mclin levrone running a time of 49.7 with a legendary world record now just a few weeks behind her and a very solid field destined to race against her mlac levrone might be in the perfect position to run a super fast time for this diamond league finale and with this in mind I will pass this question off to all of you what times do you think mlac and levrone will run in the 200 and in the 400 m she's already gotten close to 22 flat over the 200 and her 400 time currently ranks her in the top 10 to ever run and personally I think her 400 time is set to be something unbelievable and with her battling against Mar lady Pino they both could push each other to a sub 48 second clocking leave your thoughts down below with your predictions and we'll make sure to read all of your comments thanks for watching everyone and as always until next time
