Intro afternoon Dr Morris injury experts it is Monday August 19th wanted to give you a couple updates based on some recent injuries to some bigname players and how things are trending we've gotten through two weeks of preseason there's technically uh one more game but I don't really expect to see a whole lot uh being played in that game uh and and then we really have about three weeks two and a half weeks to week one so we don't have a whole lot of time to identify injuries identify if they're going to be playing week one or early in the season and then actually drafting most people are even going to draft next weekend or the following weekend uh right before obviously week one so the the question that most people ask is CMC is Christian mcaffrey going CMC to be ready for week one should you be concerned about this calf injury and are is he too risky to take at the 101 well the way I analyze this is he dealt with his third cast strain in the past say two years year and a half he has been a volume monster since 2019 in the seasons that he has played um and he led the league in touches last year although significantly less than previous but there's a possibility at least in my head that a he's getting a little older B he's already banged up a little bit and C he actually is there a possibility they pull back on him a little bit and don't give him the 20 25 touches a game that he's used to we haven't seen auk update yet but I'm assuming he's probably going to resign there um you know the offense is going to be pretty much identical the last year uh but the way I look at it is I view mcaffry as a little bit risky this year obviously he's he's the 101 and you have to take him there or the top two picks if someone passes on him I personally won't be targeting him at the 101 I would rather have Bree hall or one of the top wide receivers over him but I could easily justify taking Christian mcaffrey I would rather be a year early then a year late on him the next guy who's currently banged up that has some Jahmyr Gibbs fantasy implications is jir gibs and he had that hamstring strain last week uh that his second probably his third one we don't know what happened in a OTAs uh back about a year ago or so and he missed two weeks in that but had a fantastic rest of the season uh I think he'll be ready for week one I'm not overly worried about that but he will have an increased risk of reinjury really through the first about six weeks of the season and I think uh they will probably be smart and and do a little bit more David Montgomery early in the season and maybe pull back on Gibbs a little bit probably simil last year I have trouble taking him in the first round unless it's at the turn and I'd rather take him in early second round than first I love the talent I have a little bit of concern about the hamstrings um but overall you know he should be a top 10 back this year uh heading over to a guy that a lot of Nick Chubb people love um and it's kind of a split here his ADP has been rising and that's Nick chub we have not seen Nick chub on a practice field or on a preseason field to the full extent of his abilities now remember he had that two stage ACL revision very complicated procedure he will not be 100% in my opinion ever again he will probably get to 75% this year if he's lucky and even if that happens I I realistically think he's going to struggle with explosiveness and cutting uh I don't expect him to get more than 10 or 15 touches a game he doesn't really catch the ball so the fact that he's the rb33 gives me a little bit pause I would much rather have Jerome Ford later who finishes the rb6 last year the Browns significantly upgraded their offensive line so this isn't the same p offensive line and they should have a healthy DeShaun Watson uh heading into the season so I think this is going to be a three-headed monster with Dante Foreman I really don't have any interest in Nick chub this year and the best case scenario that he had in his entire career finished as the rb6 but I just don't simply seeing that repeating uh and it's very difficult to finish in the top 10 if you don't receive or catch many passes Derk Henry's been able to do it but really that's about it so I I'm just there's a chance he starts on Pop I would not be surprised at all and he may not be really able to contribute to week five maybe up to week eight uh that's a significant amount of time in the regular season for Fantasy Switching T.J. Hockenson gears here heading over to another guy that's coming off of ACL reconstruction and that's TJ Hawkinson now we have seen unfortunately JJ McCarthy suffer his significant knee injury a a full thickness tear of the meniscus which required repair so now we have to deal with Sam darnold at least unless they decide to pick up somebody else or use his backup I have some significant concerns about Sam darnold uh and his ability to maintain the offense and to throw I know the talent is there let's just see if he can play it out and put it together no I do have some concerns that hackinson probably won't be back until week six or week seven I think they're bi-weeks somewhere around there and but then I think he'll be okay he's not going to be the same player he was last year but the beauty uh is he's tight in 13 so you can kind of get him later uh he's his ADP is currently 117 so you stash him for the uh you know six weeks and then he can even be a beautiful Flex spot that may be good for 8 to 15 points a game uh you know it's basally going to be him Jefferson and and maybe a little bit of Addison along with uh Aaron Jones so would not be surprised if he comes back and has some solid games uh and you're basically getting him for for not free but pretty good um and and you know I'd rather have I'd take another Elite tight end in one of the top eights and then I would add him for a little bit of insurance or if your team's doing well and you need to flip him uh midseason on a trade to get something you need probably not the bad the worst idea now we let's talk about Puka Nacua uh two wide receivers the first wide receiver I want to talk about puka nkua now puka reportedly suffered some type of knee Bersa injury maybe about two weeks ago or so a little over that and we really haven't heard anything since now they gave him a week toe timeline but when I reviewed the video it looked more so like a PCL sprain which is more of annoying injury than than a burel sack which is not a super common injury at all now I have some reservations about uh this injury so much so that I bumped him down in my ranking a little bit if you are a injury experts premium subscriber or uh you can see the draft guide you can see where he's listed and his injury rating I have some concerns about this PC and I think there's a Poss possibility of it lingering we will see how healthy Cooper cup is and we'll see how that plays out I completely off him this year I I just I don't have much faith in him and I'm okay with being burned if it plays out that way and then finally let's talk about someone that I Diontae Johnson wasn't aware of until someone messaged me this morning and said hey this guy's injured did you see that I was like no I didn't and that's Deontay Johnson he has a little bit of a minor groin strain uh about five days ago or so it never really popped up in any other form I didn't see anything about it after that um and and and I'm not overly conc concerned about it I really love Deontay this year as a super bold crazy call he may finish in the top 10 if he can stay healthy if Bryce young can hit him regularly and if he can sne into the end zone maybe five to 10 times there is a possibility that he finishes in the top 10 um and he is fantastic at separation he has great hands and he should get a ton of volume uh as Canalis uses to look for him so uh you know I'm not overly worried about this growing strain he'll be good in about 10 days or so and then by week one he should be good not super concerned and I love him at his ADP currently of 86 wide receiver 38 massive upside there especially if you're playing in PPR if you like this type of content do me a favor smash a thumbs up subscribe if you're looking for help in drafting I do have a draft guide available on the injury experts.com uh and then if you're looking for injury analysis and and different injury reports you can head over to the website and everything will be there the premium members get even more advanced thing percentages of hey well play this week so on and so forth uh if you like the type of content please share it thank you take care
