no don't play again I actually I do seek I feel seek these light tsts Channel make me look like never [Music] swears welcome back to the better down back podcast Club favorite uh probably the favorite son uh we' got here today Caleb song coming back off the 4 day break in a bu how did you how are you feeling what did you get up to bit going on your house thanks for having me guys it's uh good to be in here nice and early um yeah it was it was a great break it's uh always nice to have a few days off and just recharge the battery especially midseason it's it can get pretty overwhelming this time of the year so nice to have a few few days off and just recharge the batteries and ready to go for the second half of the Year beautiful amazing we we'll get deeper into that proposal story a bit later um did you have a good de break as well J how was dble going it was good until my youth uh P decided to well wasn't third F but um she wanted her car parked in my garage and my car was parked behind it um Monday morning or whatever we come back fell little weekends during the week um and she goes oh do you want me to move your car or do you want to move your car and it was like early in the morning I I'm look getting out bed just take my car to work and she got rear ended on the way to work so of course in your car yeah jum jumping through a few Hoops try and sort that out but it's going to be a long and painful process but thankfully she's okay and it wasn't her fault so last thing she needed but we're all good so my break was great the car the panel be but my break was good um great and then last episode how do you think we went what do you reckon kale you listened at all to the PTY or listen to this the Snippets of Sharpie and um hopefully I can be a bit better than Sharpie was but now I thought you guys were right cor was our last episode though and he was very good actually a lot of stuff I did not know about him did you get a word with cors well I mean did he get a word him with cs and eye he compl where it was at but um I can't believe his eye injury just like I can't even fathom being in a dark room for a month and not doing anything that's just wild so anyways but the feedback has been great I think on the YouTube channel as well as the Instagram the comments have been awesome so anyway enough been really Bush we're going to get into it Caleb we have a few things to address straight away and we might as well jump straight into it the proposal talk me through unpacked story any hiccups nerves how are you feeling uh yes yeah that was a big part of our 4-day break was The Proposal on the engagement and uh fair to say the kind of few weeks leading up to I was pretty nervous um it all it all run pretty smoothly on the day though which is good um preparation was Kitty clappy so you can come to me for any advice if you need and when time comes for you but um no it was it was very nerve-wracking um i' never really kind of crossed my mind hand as I'd be just to make sure it wasn't even that she' I was hoping she was going to say though but um it was just more the fact that you want everything to go smoothly like you put everything in place and any hiccups you get a bit nervous that how it's going to run you only get one chance at it so um in the end it all went smoothly and yeah we had a had a great lunch and then had all our family in my family around for a big uh and friends and for a bit of a party afterward which is nice brilliant sounds amazing I know you've probably spoken about you spoke about this on the radio as well how many times have you told this story so far uh a few a few there's been a few conversation and questions which is great it's it's good but it was um yeah it's been told a few times it's done the rounds and did you plan the whole thing like you knew exactly what you were going to do Chloe obviously went out for breakfast that morning and then you just had it all ready yeah yeah I had a little bit of help with from a few friends and um I had yeah Andy and Liz come over in the morning and help set up and and sort everything out Andy wasn't doing much of the creative stuff he was just putting the alcohol in esy but um yeah it was it was a lot of help um from from a few people but yeah it was kind of all planned out she getting out of the house nice and early and had a few hours had about 3 hours to get everything sorted um had everything planned kind of about a friend's house I just had to go pick it up and and come and set it up and um yeah had a had a Chef there ready to go make a nice St it's beautiful amazing I love it anything you want to add GE no that you would have added to the preparation there certainly not um as will get to find out K's pretty thorough in everything he does and I think he'd have me covered on every single face so I will not be adding anything to that absolutely incredible now are you mov moving forward yes to the more famous topic that I really want to talk about is the vomit gate um you r as well you actually throw up six times I don't know about six but I definitely th up you running Vis we've got some Vision here and we just watch it so Dy reaching K's V now no I don't know oh there's one if it's just water I can watch no a two what's that three I can't watch that I'm so sorry he oh no he's counting You Can Count I can't watchy that's all I don't have know to me right okay no but this is only one clip of vision there could have been other clips that Brett didn't get I'm going to so mythbusting here yeah right three with the draw reach at the start so no don't play again I actually I feel sick I feel sick he's lied to us um no it's actually pretty impressive I've never done that on the fo field you done no I've never done that it was really strange feeling for me um yeah that was uh that was definitely a new experience and it wasn't very comfortable um but after the game it actually made my guts feel a lot better after the game and it was I had nothing in there so it was good I feel like that's just lactic though like anyone ran like a 200 M run I feel like at back in school days that would be the only time I've ever vomited is that 200 M run and then secury but never got that point foot he but fell it was Jack Chris you know when we um they kicked it shot the point and then they kicked it out and it was kind of a fast play ball and Chris got out the back on me and he's fast and I was I had not much left in the tank I was running backwards and I was just tonged it for for 150 and and then yeah that was on the back end of that so didn't have much left and uh lucky the boys the boys held on a few of those defense D50 stoppages cuz I didn't I wasn't off for much but surely that is like blood Ru like it's a bodily fluid surely you can use this to your advantage SP on day he has to go off you beauty like come on no I think he of bit put a flack in the medum as a result of that you deserve a bit of FL for La no well there's not you story got a bit of M you know that any BR shorts loves Mar tub at home you were marked up though that night so didn't have anything to do with you know just trying to over exert yourself for the what what he did see before that was I had my fingers down my throat try to make myself throw up for the for the effects of it but perfect then it just came and actually it worked well in the end just a bit a bit of May on the story of the the camera and the mic I know we didn't have the the feel the sound on that did we no that wouldn't don't actually think the sounds watch gets me and the smell anyways um I thought the miced out by the way was really really good but it was awesome I think that's the stuff that didn't get the part where he swore at me five timesing k to me I said well then we went back looked at the vision K probably was non so I think it was just an F off that was all awesome I just went back Chanel said made look like never swear with a future Captain material tell this for that no that's great all right my favorite segment uh anchors in action with where we highlight the good hey put on your [Music] Superman just so calit of context this is obviously where we highlight the good in the club um and for context on Jordan um lacking preparation we've actually got my answer written down here with a blank space next to clarky so let's hope he's actually about this but this is Jordan's lead so I won't talk too much and I'm just going to go straight with Liv and Kelly from event I'm going to shout out to them we had our family like function welcome on the weekend Saturday morning and they organized absolutely everything um like the proposal down to the tea they had the balloons the slideshow um presenters coming up as well as I and Ariana our chefs um had pancakes omelets it was just incredible and I think they do so much so thank you Kelly and live and I'm very good at what they do keep bringing back morie time cuz we love it so yeah you did actually rest say have a bit of a think about this last night so I'll uh not not a specific incident but some someone that go kind of does a lot of work behind the scenes for me is is poorly sess and um me and him have have a lot of band up and uh I give him a fair growth and he gives me a fair growth too but um for him what what he does kind of day and day behind the scenes and especially on our way trips for me I I didn't really realize until probably last this season chat to him and spring or what they do when they when we get back from in a way trip we we get back at 9 or 10:00 sometimes at night and and they get loading the truck up and bring it back to the club and unpacking it putting everything in the wash cuz if they don't do that everything's going to go moldy after a game all the dirty clothes and everything so then I'd H out of here until midnight and we're going having a nice sleep so those those two guys and especially PA cuz I give him a fa brief so I thought I give him a little little shout out here amazing no very good very good I also had pulie last week but he also I threw Springer in there because you get two for one um well this week I'm going for um something a little bit different but for not different it's is that okay to be different um we going to go for sturge uh um our new forward development coach um you know tough move having to move a young family and yourself the partner across to the other side of Australia and to go after a career that you want to go after and I feel like he's fit in really well at the clubbies um you know the way he helps the young boys brings a bit of a different sort of Outlook and brings a lot of fun bit of bantar and also helps boys get a lot better so um yeah SED for me this week and I think he's doing a great job and that's aw for him because it's a big move for anyone so he the bookshelf as well to the place yeah he's got some nice touches in there um D was more like all last week I got the pump up for so it's your week this week uh after everyone's finished up there and nominated some people we just want to give you a shout out for your wa young achiever reward last week well done not sure you have to do that well done are you young anymore we love it we love it that's a back anymore when we're pretty much all the same age well old is it teen young enough to do some things we old in the foot scam of things but we're still young in terms still we do love a backhand compliment to each other in all due respect well done it's a great achievement really appreciate it thanks to your dad for employing me at p as a coach cuz that certainly helped but so thank you really appreciate and I guess just on shout outs as well I have one just within the W program um we had Jess L who's a longtime listener of the Pod um finish her law degree uh a couple of days ago so I just find that absolutely incredible that's 6 and 1/2 years and she's now a lawyer so yeah amazing anyway well done jell well done um how go to the next section because you guys didn't have a game on the weekend we just have extra bits as the as the title um so I suppose we're just going to touch on the big freeze to start with huge game Collingwood versus Melbourne on the Monday did do you guys watch do you watch when there's a buy round or what do you I didn't really on the weekend to be honest I didn't watch a heavy foot that's good break yeah I was just kind of yeah a little bit sick footy so I definitely listening into the big threes and watched a bit of the game we we had training as well so we were here close today so we didn't really get a chance to sit down and watch it but it's always always a big game and love tuning into that day such a um great game to I guess raise awareness around M andd um we actually have our PDM here play development manager who her and her family raised $400,000 for um M andd when her dad passed away so I just think that's just a huge fit and I think if more people are doing that around the country then the better better off we are so very impressive I think you see the support from all the Banes like just just the the blue banies SL around you don't see any PR it's kind of game five or game six like everyone buys new ones every year shows that support that way I've got no doubt there'd be a lot people across country have all I think it's 10 it's it 10 or them now so I yeah a lot of people have b m year which is just um Testament of the support from the whole country which is great very very powerful so yeah getting to the back end of the extra bids and it is a great call and well done to the p uh PDM yeah that is a great a family very sad story but um moving on to the next part we had a little segment during the week Kylie we said if you weren't a footballer you'd be a cricket you know would be you know yeah we actually versed each other state 15 yeah right when you played for Big Country I played for wa you made you made the Australian team I didn't thought I was give as a board not to about good B SE did neither I don't think oh yeah I was I was both both neither or both um it was actually so funny I um spoke to your mom in the we was that God bless T she's a ripper about what you wanted to be and then she basically your family keeping you humble saying well what if football and gri just work out his next option was tennis so yeah it was grown up that's all I really really wanted to do is playst Sport and I didn't play m i play one season at tennis that must have been in that season where she asked me good yeah it was footing pry growing up as most kids grown up were and um yeah love love both but yeah I think the decision wasn't really a decision and the decision was made for me in the end I wasn't wasn't enough Cricket so yeah and then a couple more so sa said he play for the Lakers which is possible Club all do is dunk though he he's not get kill you I hope he he that and clean his locker as well yeah that whole thing that's not allowed like surely the protein shakers as well like protein stinks in general number one milk sorry milk the first thing to get mold on it is milk and protein and then he's got these shakers in his locker that's not who's had this hard conversation here like um well se's actually part of the leadership group so I think that falls on his shers Clark is part of the one of the heads of the fine committee so if it's not fine I'm not sure what it is yeah but that will not C the the lake extraordin I don't think LeBron would be happy with that yeah LeBron wouldn't be happy yeah snap yeah um Bailey bfield environmental scientist don't know what they do but that is very bannner he smart doesn't surprise me at all he I can say that yeah he's implemented the granden beins around the club he's got a grand thumb he's gotb so moving on Saba we were going to go to your um upbringing of footy but we wouldn't be able to get through your long list of achievements and all your footy stuff because it's quite ridiculous for 23y old um at 9 years old um after watching zavier dma kicking on both feet he started kicking every night on your left is this true is that true is it like six times or no every but it was um I don't know where you got to M probably mom you spoke to Mom didn't you good but yeah no left left was a big Focus from a young age me me man as well kind of gave that gave that feedback and instilled that in me and um yeah I'm not super quick so don't really have the speed to get back onto my right foot so I need to be a kick on my left and your left fo is better than my right foot 25 M so seems to be seems to be doing a good job when I get to the bottom of this start reading there is a quite a long list here and you've only been playing for four and a half Seasons I'm now in my sixth and I have not achieved one of these things so AFL Rising Star 2021 go the year against West Coast 2021 Glen glenden medalist glenden alen that is actually a tongue twister so you did okay ched and then ditto 2023 2023 dog medal 2023 all Australian 2024 broke broke the club record for most of spes in a single game with 46 um 2024 broke the club record for most clearances in a single game with 17 before bar weekend you were number one in the league for clearances and cranble Bs and the last point you are simply ridiculous I say SC scary good scary is ridiculous um how do you feeling how do you feel like it's it is quite substantial man stuff you've got on your little WRA sheet here yeah thank you for that Cofe that was um that was nice sit through but um I uh yeah it's it's been a pretty whiring kind of first five seasons and and obviously Dr Co in there for my first year and um everything kind of went along with that and hubs and everything and it's um yeah I've had a kind of good introduction to AFL footy and uh for me coming into the the league all I wanted to do was kind of play and get the team as quick as I can and um it took me into kind of round four of that first year the first three weeks kind of was emergency and and couldn't K get in and we had a really strong Midfield and um learned a lot from guys early early in my time here and F and Dave Monday about just professionalism and they have guys around our age these young guys that we've gotten out you you see that kind of a bit more senior around the group but Andy was going to his third year Adam cherro was going to his third year Lloyd M was going to his third year there kind of guys that I kind of came in and spent a lot of time with that I kind of instilled a lot of hard work and dedication and work ethic um in the young group and from there that kind of gave me confidence that kind of go out there and kind of do what I wanted to do and I think I spoke about it at my uh at the dog medal last year but um what Andy kind of did the year before as uh 50 player I think it was um gave a lot of confidence to me that you can kind of from a young age you don't need to wait to be able to have an impact at AFL level and um that kind of yeah gave me a lot of confidence going with the offseason and preseason about what I wanted to achieve going forward and not just in three or four years but kind of now and um kind of not putting any any ceiling on on what that was and that crit to Andy because he kind of BR those barriers to me in my own head and and gave me that confidence that that we can do that as young players yeah very well very well done sorry yeah it's just amazing like you read through this list and you just think you pinched yourself that you are actually 23 like what's what's to come like I think that's so exciting I suppose my question would be what do you see like what do you think your main point of growth was throughout this journey you obviously mentioned lessons you've learned but want to know what do you think you've you've learned the most um I think something I've worked the the hardest on is my the mental side of the game and and what that brings and there so many challenges and they change week on week and and year on year and and everything kind of I guess uh develops and and whatnot but um for me I've done a lot of work with sports like on that space and um and working out what both in preparation and out in the field what it looks like and everything but physically for me from a football craft point of view a lot of it was around um backing myself a little bit more and holding the ball a little longer being a little bit more damaging I think you in my career I was could find footy but I'd kind of butcher a little bit or I'd rush rush myself and just bang the ball forward as far as I can and sometimes I still do that I don't use Clark as a feedback option but um CL I wouldn't NE probably number one in the league CL um but that's that's been a big growth area and and through talking a lot with JL and Joel Cory around just trusting myself a little bit more and embracing those mistakes and comes back to the mental side of the game it's a big part of it if you're worried about the mistakes you're going to make or getting caught hold the ball you're not going to kind of give yourself that extra second to kind of scan options or see it but that's something that I've tried to grow in training and and train that and just Embrace if I was to get caught holding the ball or make a mistake it's okay because I'm doing it in the search of being a more damaging player and understanding what that looks like rather than just yeah taking the easy option all the time so that's still a massive area of growth to me and see guys that's break lines and take the game on like like clarky I'm not going to have the speed that Clark's got but if I can in traffic holding the ball a little bit longer and test it hopefully can release teammates in a bit more space and be a bit more damaging with teamate a player love it it's great and I guess out of all of the the list of things for that you move are you ready to move no no no um what do you think your your favorite moment was it's a great question um I think no no if if we're going for no the um that that day that I kicked the goal of the year against um West Coast we hadn't beaten West Coast in five or six years um Andy was out with suspension I gouging this dog um and it was uh yeah it was we had pretty young we had Dave and then five F out as well so we had Dave and Adam chera myself and and sea in Iraq and that was my second year and um that day it was kind of the first game it was a big crowd for me it was um end of second Co year and I think we had 40 40 plus and it sounded like ridiculous amount of people and um yeah for the fans to get that kind of taste of Victory against the the art rival for first time in five or six years was pretty cool and to be part of that was yeah my favorite day aside from the the final against doggies that was my favorite play game on PO brilliant yes no he's certainly brilliant I just see here going all right was talking career finish this is going to be 25 PES long Jesus Christ um but yes anyway moving on to the the more fun stuff and the little bit of you know background stuff we've got on you and got a couple of people close to you that have giving us some details and this is where get this is we'll just start off the top with apparently you're you're a massive softy which I think most of us know boys know but something along the lines of the Chloe and Caleb they've got this beautiful dog Twix um it's a little furball um don't those ones anyway Caleb's said Chloe I think we need to get Twix and Paul B but I actually think I like Chloe's response the best of better yeah how could the Babe dogs don't need sof pors they used to live in the wild yeah I just pcture toy voodles rangling on pigs and that sort of the background of me saying that was I seen on like Instagram and stuff that these these little dogs getting stuff rubbed on there on their dwars and stuff when I was like that must be to keep them soft like instead of them cracking on one day i' well was yeah just just felt as boys and they were really rough all fire they they crack or something like so I just threw the thing out just like out of just just uh what do you think yeah curiosity really and I thought I was going to get a bit of bit of support on the way back but clearly that doesn't that's not a thing he shut you down yeah it was pretty has to fall was I don't think that's a thing Kale like I don't think that's that doesn't happen so hands for hard work it's brilliant also get some Chalk in the gym maybe that only ever heard of greyhounds having that because they are racing get the Twix behind the r She chased us to the birds in the park that's for sure but uh no chlo chlo is very take me check me level and findim me out on my on my stuff it's brilliant yeah just going to go a little bit off the schedule we we do know that chlo is the boss of the house so it's well documented we love Klo beautiful beautiful person and cl's awesome and very fun to be around if you get the opportunity but I just want to go into something that I've I've got to be information Caleb and chlo do a little bit to their house and Caleb likes to cook a little bit right and he set the TV up on the wall so when he's cooking you can see the TV it's fully mounted like got someone in to put it on the wall land set up his way and after probably 3 months cla's just cracked it she's G no I can't have this like she's gone out God someone to move it back over there so s can't see the TV while he's cooking is that did you know this at the time there's a lot of truth to this um and I I'll explain what happened so when we M into the house the the yeah the loung room um has two walls you could put a ter on one to beat white wall which we think would probably be the more logical option yeah sure but it's on a wall where you only seen it it's it's it's restricted the the access here to the TV and the other one's got two windows there and there's a wall in the middle so it overlaps the the windows which I didn't really think it was an issue with but chlo being um now an interior designer and very specific with her house items and the way they're set out so is being the boss of the house being the boss of the house yeah don't there's nothing wrong with trying to not this this was the one decision that I I thought I was able to make for the house yes there wasn't very many others at all none and then we did Renovations and there was also zero life but that's okay because it was great but I uh I I had it up on this wall and then yeah it was about 12 months in so we got through 12 months and um we just starting to do Rena in the Sparky CH around and I got home from training one day and I looked up at the wall there was a print up there like a a bit of artwork where where is the TV and I had to walk around the corner was on the other wall and she's got it mounted up on the other wall so not even like just put it on something fully got it taken off that wall with the mount and mounted on another wall she knew I was wasn't going to be at uh at home that day so she uh she got away with it and to be fair it has grown on me and I now I just when I'm cooking I just use the iPad instead of the TV so the old feedback sandwich here was like I didn't like it but it's okay you know I've learned it sounds like even if you didn't like that's that's the thing I was I was that's very big part of it and with our Renovations for our bathroom it was that's a similar story I tell about the tiles I really liked these tiles these F tiles and they're great and I picked them out and I decided on him and I said I think this is the way we should go and she liked him so that was good the story I tell is if she didn't like him we wouldn't have been going with doesn't matter how much I want yeah but I feel like I'm going to be team Chloe here just for a second and that you stick to what your good out and that's kicking a ball around Chloe is the interior designer she can make the decision if she wasn't the interior designer if it wasn't her her trade and her job I would yeah I'd push back a little bit more but it is not my specialy and it just hurts so we'll just go rattle off a few other your favorite color questions yeah go is this a joke no it's not a joke we're waiting uh black oh that's the biggest lie yeah because last week on the radio you said canary yellow yeah so that I actually hope that the West Australian rid an article tomorrow that is headlined Caleb strong is a Serial liar so if you if you listen to that I'm PR sure I said black H as well but K and I been Jo cuz we were doing that game on the radio and um we'll kind of try to prepar ourselves I have to ask what which and I was like just like black andu count color I know it's pretty boring it's like I like canary yellow and cl thought which again took piece out of thought was was the funniest thing ever so I said it on the on the radio a bit of a bit of a g but yeah there's no background so another I do like canary yellow a lot that's great you can own that that's beautiful um what is the worst part about the beach for you uh all of it it makes me so anxious what's what so the sand the sand first of all I've gr the sand has the sand has grown on me a little bit not not to a point where I enjoy it but to a point where I can stand it I can deal it I can stand in the sand yeah but now just everything that goes along with what's in the water and all the creatures in there and stuff just for me out that's fair enough and then finally you're a bit of a trend set of growing up and you probably I'd love I'd love to see you bring a few of these back you used to have a rat's tail yeah yeah that was really early days the Justin Bieber so FR I think everyone had that though surely no I had some I had some horror haircuts next one's my favorite one summer had his hair hair dyed to look like it's soft Sharon printed on the side of your head I think I think these days you just get it shaved into your head when you like just die yeah it was it was a bad I blame mom and dad this was I was under 10 years old at this point and I'm getting these haircuts like they were letting me B Med great awesome but like in hindsight surely you step in and say son you're not getting that HEC yeah it's not going to look good you're not going to look back on it very funly I'd love to see Caleb song number three run around with a rat's tail it's Conor McDonald from W's got a bit of rat s but it's not it's like blonde out the top so it might might make comeb back I think it needs to all righty we got getting defensive now never like feedback on Twitter I don't take kayin what is the worst thing about having a locker next to Shawn Dary smile uh best dress teammate Brandon Walker favorite ball game I hate games hat the beach hates ball games Andy uh it's not a ball game but who know yeah death r uh no nice interesting just the whole menu last time you called your mom um early in the week what are you most afraid of the be n uh sharks sharks coffee of choice STW pre Superstition Tred to cut those out um oh sorry cut the question no no sorry cut superstitions yeah I don't I don't I wouldn't say I have getting there early getting there early that's that's about it your best Junior footy moment um playing State and top school was in Dar that was a lot of fun name another team you followed in another sport uh Carolina Panthers in the NFL which yeah B the fight in you suck and the biggest name following you on Instagram uh probably B Smith he's probably got the most followers here oh May m Le actually I'll give m a shout out that beauty all right moving on Jordan yeah so the mcfar medal um no game this week so there's no real votes we can hand out or suggestions but we do have a few things we just want to talk about and se you are a very um integral part of our team and you do see the game quite well so how how do you think Josh Dr is going he's he's holding his own under the gun to coxy how have you seen him since he started into T no he's been great I think uh what he did through the preseason gave everyone a lot of confidence and him Trum when he came in when coxy went down early in the year and that he was ready to go it wasn't just like a throw him to the to the wolves and let let him go to go it was he he was ready and um he's been bright he's gone kind of he's had some big matchups and um his composure and just just looks like he's never never phased he's super calm down there you'd probably know more but playing alongside him but yeah he just uh he always kind of picks the right option very proposed ball in hand and just gets the job done which is uh which been great he's been very very good for us since it's come in I think just speaking on coxy he is back next week but I think it's just so great that he can be a mentor for a young player like Josh and I think um not only Josh would have learned a lot but I think other players in the group as well of how I guess the the circumstance wasn't great for coxy but he still made to um make a positive out of it by helping Josh Draper and obviously it's paying off for Josh on the field and how exciting to have him hopefully back next week as well we know waffle AFL either way guess in minutes I think through for a couple of weeks and and build his build his tank and stuff but yeah he's um both what he's done physically himself in terms of his gym stuff and crossings and all that and then his leadership's been awesome he yeah no and Caleb your favorite finner of the year so far who he's waiting no not I don't no can I say some in the for yeah of course I want to get around H Davies yeah um and he's he's a character around the group he brings a lot of laughs but once he gets out in that on that field he's uh one of the most um what's the word he's just he just gets his job done and the boys love play he doesn't get beaten he's extremely competitive when he's out there and he's just uh for his
