have easy scores you get going and you get your teammates involved but um we try to make her life as hard as possible but credit to her she's a great player she is she is she's a she's someone that is just I'm excited to see her grow within this league um because just watching her grow in this in the few years that she's had it's been amazing to see how she can just turn it on and off and I think she's starting to make a stamp for herself in this league and uh yeah I'm excited to see her grow she did she did she does her thing always honestly you speak to you speak to the difference obviously that it opposes to opponents yeah I mean it's just the flow of the game and and what our what our bigs can bring to the table and I think when we going against uh other teams you got to match their match ups in some senses and I think sometimes we get stuck in the game oh the Starting by pass to stay the same but that could flow it could flow just depending on matchups and I think for the Chicago Sky game mag was just the better matchup you know Kia still came in and was Kia and that's what I love the most about Kia is she doesn't get caught up in oh my gosh why am I coming off the bench and I think that speaks volume versus just going out there and doing her job the attitude behind it and I think we have a locker room that is willing to do whatever it needs to be done in order for us to get the win so credit to Meg always because she's not not because she's sitting next to me but because she's always ready when her name is called and like Becky was saying hasn't played a lot of minutes um and she could have been like bumping I'm about to do my own thing but she stayed within the system and gave us great buckets at the right time and like it's been great playing against play with me excuse me back to the game where you f very confident I was just telling her I saw the shadow of the ball before I saw the ball and I was like okay this wasn't the time that we drew up but all right uh but when it's coming to trusting someone with the past it's gonna always be Chelsea great for me um she's goingon to always delivered on time and I know it gets she gets anxious and mad when she can't deliver it on time but when it comes to just crunch time oh please I trust trust with the ball no matter what so I was very confident you speak kind about difference in your Dynamic and how kind of compliments and really have the game for yeah I think um I'm just trying to give a different look too um you know Kia and especially working with Kia and AC too like that rotation with Asia I think it just gives defense this really hard job because they always have to be thinking about the Scout okay who's coming in now they're a different Personnel they have different skills and strengths so I think just being able to help a whatever we can do obviously you know she's the greatest for reason and um she's gonna have a lot of attention and pressure on her so whatever we can do to like alleviate that and make her job a little bit easier that's what we're gonna do so let's jump to zoom uh let's go Cali and then Michael Asia just if we could go back to that gamewinner you had just stol cold face after making that shot you had KP and Megan like screaming your face packing you up what's kind of going through your mind in that moment and what do you want to take away from this wi to be for your team um I mean in that moment I was just trying to do my job like I I didn't put the basketball in the hoop well all game uh I was very frustrated but my teammates just were the ones that just kept uplifting me to keep shooting the basketball um and so in that moment I was like you know this is what we're supposed to do this is the game this is the entertainment like this is what you guys came to see um and I was so glad that we were able to deliver and be on The Winning Side uh but at the same time I think this game showed our hunger and our resilient that we need to continue to push throughout these games uh but it was a good win for us we needed this win um and I'm glad we got it done thank you Michael yeah thank you um Asia I gu to follow up on that a little bit it's it's you know it's so hard to do what you guys are trying to do you've talked about it all year but where's the confidence of this team in terms of knowing um you know how good you can be how you're still really um in some ways finding yourself even this late in the season and and I wonder how how where you think the confidence stance right now for the B uh I mean I can only speak for myself and what I try to instill into our locker room but I try to make sure that everybody's confidence is at an all-time high because we can look around this locker room and we've seen Snippets and games that that we have enough to get the job done it's just a matter of do we want to get it done the confidence is there the talk is going always be there but are we going to put the work in to get it done are we going to do the extra little things and that's what's going to take us there but when it comes to confidence I'm going to always be rooting for my teammates I'm G to always tell them to keep their head up high keep shooting I don't care keep going because one thing we would never lack in our locker room is confidence we might like our identity we might like a little defense and offense but our confidence will always be there because I'm going to try to instill that in our locker room every chance I get um so now it's just starting to just roll together putting the pieces together and just starting to keep this this great energy that we have going forward and Megan just one for you I know you've talked about this the last couple years but you are a great great College scorer but you've learned to be a different type of scorer in the WNBA and today obviously hitting those three showed that how over the the last few years have you gotten to the point where you know you can come in and hit that that particular shot yeah I mean I took a total of two threes in my entire college career and made one of them so 50% um so just I basically had to completely reinvent my game um you know I'm a little bit I guess undersized compared to obviously bigs that were going against like Chicago today and all that um but just being able to to create from the perimeter to be able to um have a face up game but whatever it is I got I gotta be ver versatile that was kind of what I was told when I got into the league and um you know I wanted to stick around so um I went to work and I also have great people around me too great support system um you know great teammates that are always like a Lifting me and telling me you know I can I can do better and um to keep going thank you all right let's go to Nikas Willie you had your hand up is it already been answered n Go ahead can I be heard I'm outside so one for you Asia I think it was 13 shots in the first quarter I think that's the highest total of any player in the quarter this season uh did you feel that or you trying to set some sort of I kind of set the tone there or was there something that you saw on the defense that you want to be aggressive oh okay I'm trying to see how I can work this shots were there and I am I was just very frustrated that they were not falling uh because that's not like me uh but the basketball guys were just trying to teach me a lesson and it's just something that I kept going but I would didn't even think about anything because I was literally taking what the defense was giving me and they were giving me the wide open middle of the floor jumper um and my teammates were just like keep going because I feel like they've seen me shoot that a million times um and I'm I wasn't going to let up but I wasn't really thinking about anything I was really honestly just taking what the defense was giving me and they were giving me that shot and it's crazy because I heard their coach saying well live with it live with it and I was like oh I'm letting you guys off the hook uh but no I'm get back in the lab and gonna get things rolling but uh no I didn't have an idea I was just really just they were wide open and I was just trying to shoot you yeah all right uh last question is gonna go to Jordan and then we'll get back in here hey ladies congrats on the win so real quick Asia when you made that face after you hit this shot it gave you that D Rose vi from the know but my question is for you both so I guess just talking about you know this one in particular especially the one in this mag just talk about the momentum going forward we got to keep uplifting each other um this is this was a hard this is a rough patch for us um obviously because we are not where we want to be but we' seen what we can do and where we can be um so this was a rough rough little stage for us and we could kind of feel it but I think with this win uh obviously we're not going to be on Cloud9 over it because we still have plenty of games to to play but at this this stage of where we are we really needed this just as like a confidence booster just sometimes people just need that little love that extra little like you got this push and a sign from God to say that you are you're you're still going you you grow through what you go through and I think we're just starting to grow and I think that's what our momentum is now starting to be it's like continue to grow continue to uplift each other and everything else is going to pan out again obviously sub Contin screen for you do so effectively you just got speak to just her growth and just really how the buy as a smaller guard screening kind of play functionality wise yeah uh she really takes a lot of pride in screening and um you know there's a lot of combinations that we use with her in Asia um she's such a great screener she's such a great shooter and scorer she's setting a pick for Asia you got to kind of pick your poison with those two in action so um you know it was a heck of a pass by Chelsea um her timing was really great but the that you're right the the real uh special part there was was Plum's screen um you know Asia that close to the rim it's GNA finish so uh but it was it it was really KP that got her open hos like that I know obviously you practiced them but how much with a veteran team that you how much are you actually going over that stuff under we haven't recently um but there's times in practice or in shoot we're not really practicing anymore so in shoot around you know I'll tell them I'm thinking about drawing this or that and then kind of have them run through it but we didn't have a shoot around um today so um you know that was the choice I I had a couple other rolling around in my head um one of them though you know that I was thinking about I know spoon nose because we used to run it in New York it's a Richie Auto botle PL so I I stayed away from the Richie place because I know spoon knows those she actually got us in Vegas onto the backpck the jump ball backpck that's a rich Auto pl we used to do that in New York so there was a couple of them I was rolling around I was like no you g to know those um so you you're just really making Split Second decisions out there um on what you want to do and time and score are you going to need a two are you going to need a three how much time you have all that stuff kind of goes into play can you speak to Megan Gus obviously she got the start today just stay ready mentality and her ability to impact Marin for team yeah I mean she was great today we um you know we've talked to the team about just we're going with matchups in that fifth spot sometimes it could be AC it might be Megan it might be Kia it just depends on what we feel we need each night we thought um AC was a better match up Yer the other night in min and we thought Megan with the size of their bigs was a better uh choice to start today um and it'll probably be the same thing you know with Dallas with their two pigs um so we'll see we're kind of like a win today what's important now that's that's uh a little slogan that you know our assistant coach Tyler talked about and I liked it and my last Quick one for you so we talked about your experience both as a player and a coach on both size basketball in a season like this one where you've had some highs and lows do you feel like a game like this one especially for the the extravagant ending can kind of catapult you extreme yard where you desire to get I mean I hope so I mean I I I always have faith that you know we're going to win basketball games there's my faith is unwavering probably to a fault I just think they can always do it um that's my expectation um you know on a night that we really struggle to shoot the ball from three um you know we didn't get a a monster game from Asia you know if she if her 17 putter was going today it was going to be she was going to ring up 50 um she happened to have a little bit of an off night but she kept playing both ends of the floor and that's what we need you know when the ball's not going in the hole we got to be able to rely on our defense and um you know we held them to 75 I'm I'm good with those those numbers um and and conversely that's a team that probably doesn't traditionally shoot the three as well and I thought they knocked down shots today so it was kind of of a feel fortunate to walk out with a win really when we shot terrible and they shot very well um on shots that I would say you know we probably shoot better than them they shot him better than us today jum to zoom Mike boel yeah coach I just wondered um in terms of with with Chelsea Gray do you feel like she's becoming more more herself because she has more reps and in a game like today it seemed like she you I don't know there there's some moments of real I guess Chelsea confidence that we saw um that and points where it was really important were you in our Coach's Locker Room today Michael or what no no that's that's what we just said the confidence that she was oozing today um you know again didn't necessarily shoot the ball but she was on on on point every other area of the game with her passing her rebounding she gets in and gets you know seven eight rebounds that helps a lot especially with a team like that that really just hammers you on the glass um but it it's always her mind that sets her apart um and to be honest like she's she's she feels very good um you know and she's playing better and better and she's getting to be more and more herself but the bottom line is she's not even a year out from her fracture you know and so that's very uh impressive and substantial um to where she is and the work that she's put in and how she can impact a game um you know with really not being able to bend her foot you know so she's she's just a special player her mind is second to none she is just sharp as attack and um you know worst case scenario for me I'm like even if you like just give me your eyes and in mind out there and and I can work with that thank you all right Jordan hey Co I wanted to talk about your bench you got some valuable contributions off your bench so what have you just like from your bench so far this season oh man they're they've been consistent um we've had more Firepower um coming off our bench so it's been good uh tip Hayes gives us just a gear that I love I am a huge Tiffany a fan um coming off just being that microwave score but she just mixes it up defensively too for us I mean she's long she's kind of gangly like she's just and she's just a flash of speed um you know so she totally gives us a different look it's a totally contrasting look to say like a Chelsea you know or um some of our other players where you know they're very they're their skill they'll they'll dance you like this where she can just flat out beat you with her with her speed um she's a great Creator she plays defense she plays the right way um and then you know AC is Just Like Old City Yeti she's just like oh Mrs reliable back there like you can put her in in any situation and she is going to be solid um who she is is she's been her whole career and then you know we we sprinkle it I like liked Kia Stokes coming in off the bench the other night just defensively anchoring us um same thing tonight you know you saw me sub Kia in last play of the game um because I trust her instincts I trust uh her defensive her defensive prowess um so it's just a matter of everybody staying ready I think s's given us good minutes um Kate the thing is is we're struggling to win games there's just no margin for air so you know I always I always try to be fair with my players doesn't mean it's always equal there there's a big difference you know so coming in off the bench you have to be super solid solid where you know Asia Wilson yeah she has a longer lease like she can make a few more mistakes and you're going to roll with it um if we could get out the gates good that would help not have so much pressure on on our younger players like a Kate Martin it's it's huge moments it's huge Stakes right now when we're trying to crawl in um for playoff position show we're getting them in when we can and um their job to just be solid and like I said I Megan's probably you know hasn't had those consistent minutes so for me to throw her in the starting lineup and her to perform on a night where we're not making any threes she steps out and hit gives us a couple that's huge thank you we're gonna apologize to everybody with their hands up we only have one time for H cie and we because we got a plane to catch to head to get to Alie go ahead hey coach obviously basketball is a game of Bruns asers some two crucial ones throughout the game and then the sky was really effective and cutting into your lead at the end of that fourth quarter is that something you just talk up to their talent and their coaching or was there something specific there at the end that stood out or concerned you from your team perspective more so than tonight Cy probably the ongoing trend of not being able to get stops when we need to get stopped that is definitely a concern for me however tonight when you're picking and choosing a coach what you're willing to live with and what you can't live with they hit some shots that we're kind of willing to live with like we're we're willing to live with Kennedy Carter shooting threes it's better than her getting in the paint finishing and drawing contact and doing what she does I think that's her you always want to make people try to beat you with their second and third moves not their first moves and so in the scheme of things you know Lindsay Allen steps up hits a three Kennedy Carter hits some big threes there you you can't take away everything and uh we won the paint that was a priority for us tonight um and on a night that you shoot 25% on the road um and 38% overall to walk away with a win I I feel super fortunate so we did something right be sure to like comment and subscribe see you in
