Great Oak HS golfers "score" for LPGA pros

earlier this week the CM Pro-Am was held at the journey at Pechanga Golf Course featuring LPGA players but what makes this event special is the scorekeeper program allowing High School golfers to follow the pros and learn from their every move and we were there to check it out and our girls high school team along with some other teams from the area from our from our league are scoring for the LPGA players [Applause] I basically answered an email about six years ago seven years ago that they needed scores and I'm the only one who answers that email and then it came up to well they loved our girls scoring because I just thought it was a phenomenal opportunity for the girls just to Shadow and just hang out with an LPGA player all day which was amazing when you ever get that opportunity whoa [Music] but then they asked beta well can you just get more scores and they needed they had more teams and so I opened it up to our league and then other coaches because we we play all different areas [Music] I can't wait to like take all the advice from each player and hopefully put that into my game and maybe turn out for the better and it's just things to add on for myself when I'm in tournaments and matches and stuff make it easier for me find tips and tricks that helps me my mental gain because it is really such a big mental sport I appreciate the girls coming out here today from the local high school I think we could teach them a little bit about our perspective on the game with a little bit of experience when I was younger I wish I had this opportunity as well and so I just want to give them a little glimpse of some of the expertise we have every kind of golfer right our program has been has done very well and is aspired to play at that next level each year we've had girls play at that next level so now they know that that's an opportunity for them to have that conversation to talk about the mental games talk about their their prep uh getting ready for a tournament or just getting ready for a shot or if they have a bad shot you know so that kind of dialogue helps as well [Music] I really like the individuality of it it's very independent and like you keep to yourself a lot and me I liked I like to be on my own a lot so it's perfect it's a very humbling game and it's a roller coaster of emotion but in the end I do have to have fun in this game in order to love it so lucky are we that you know we get a play and compete on beautiful courses outside and the Love of the Game you know it really is life lessons golf really provides a lot of life lessons and so we take that away each and every time and then knowing that you could possibly do this and compete at that Collegiate level to pay for school and even taking another level like these these phenomenal athletes do at the pro level yeah Jim Duffy it's stories like this that make the game of golf so special we'll send it back to you guys all right thank you very much you know definitely we're sitting and we're watching these young people and it's amazing how this game not only is going to help them be a better golfer but it will help them to be a better student a better adult someone who gives back and make positive commitments to the community the game is uh it really draws you in for hitting great shots you want to shoot scores but there's so much more relationships really I think that's what we saw in this piece here the relationships that you build through golf will last you for life and just you know those Young tour Pros coming out making an impression making a relationship with the young ladies on the golf team that's invaluable and that happens that happens still for me I might see young people even when I go playing pro-ams and make relationships with the amateurs that I play with that's what the game is kind of about that's the other part of the game besides you know hitting long drives and making putts so you're drawn in by that greatness of golf but also the relationships that you can build and how that can make your life better all the way through giving back to our young people that's what it's all about
