this historic Stadium home to the Iron Horse and the great D to Wilson and Alvarez Camp Randle stadium in madtown home to the Wisconsin Badgers what a game and what potential drama we have in store you've seen this script before top 10 team goes into a cauldron of emotion on the road and just hopes to be able to get out and tell about it as we'll see the number six team in the country the Alabama Crimson tie taking on the 22nd ranked team in the league Alabama about to kick off to get this game underway here he comes with the return and the returner runs out of real estate as he goes down the Badgers will have some work to do after that short return and this wide receiver he's the Lynch pin to the offense they want to make sure they find a multitude of ways to get him to football and it's a risk reward W scenario on defense when you're trying to cover this guy re because you play a man coverage you risk him running by you and catching deep balls you play too much Zone and then he can hurt you after the catch a lot of different ways this guy is very dangerous from the gun running back gets to give they shut it down quickly but he gets two out to the 18 third down and they'll need five to keep this opening drive moving out of the shotgun they go to the ground they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one and the Badgers will call on their punt team first time we've seen their punt team this afternoon he make the Stop and that it's exactly what you want out of your punt cover unit so Alabama's offense headed onto the field our first look at them today you know yards figure to be hard to come by through the air but some quarterback's Jesse just love to go at the star Corner yeah and this guy's Got Confidence he's not afraid to go at anybody but he better be careful because this cornerback is one of the best in the nation one of the best no doubt I think they will trust him on defense to make plays so you got to make a decision is my guy good enough to beat him on the outside I am fascinated by this match up looks as if the Crimson Tide will have the first down you can barely hear yourself thinking here as they're trying to get this defense off to a good start from the shotgun now here's an inside side get and a nice solid pick up there before the defense wrestles him to the ground halfway there on first down it's second and five softened him up with a run and now to throw and that pass intercepted no room to return but no problem after making a play like that and they'll have it at the 25 not the start this kid was looking for very first pass of the day gets picked off this is a defense that's got a lot of ball Hawks on the back end he's got to be real careful with his eyes not Telegraph throws like he did right there he's going to have to settle in they can really be aggressive after that last play it's second and three they'll go to the ground and he was fortunate not to lose yardage on that play able to wedge it back to the line of scrimmage a third down try for the offense look to throw for it gets it out quickly a quick tackle made but he's got PL for the first down the Badgers come to the line with a fresh set of downs to the air it's van Dy got his man in the middle people like to say conference affiliation doesn't matter but you get the SEC against the Big 10 and there's no denying there's a little extra juice in the building definitely juice the best two conferences the biggest conferences Palmer everybody talks about these being the power Brokers and deciding the future of college football so yes it matters a lot of Blue Bloods in both conferences David you're right I think it's something players are also very aware of too is having that conference Pride wanting to win this game representing the rest of the teams in their conference got six on first down now a lot of options on second and four and he's brought to the ground but not before or he gets it enough for the first down they're about to snap it for the seventh time on this drive going up top on first down catch in the middle it's green and I love when my quarterback sees Zone and knows exactly where to go with the football sees the wide receiver running the drag route knows when to throw it pulls the trigger for the easy completion no more time to throw quarterback is sacked at the 35 man that's an impressive play this dude is so dominant I'll tell you we don't have enough time in this broadcast to list off all the great Alabama D lineman especially in recent years that play right there that reminds me of a guy I played against back in the day Cornelius Griffin playing on the inside of Alabama's defensive line you knew every single time you drop back you were going to have that guy in your lap he was always pushing the pocket and he was always collapsing it with his speed and athleticism and his first step that last play right there reminds me of some of these great play players we've seen on the Crimson Tide D line here in recent years he's got it showing off that big leg from 47 ydd [Applause] [Music] out after that last field goal Drive they're set to kick it [Applause] away and he takes this from inside the five really disciplined job by the coverage unit to get down there and make the stop at the 19 the tied offense rolls onto the field Nifty little dance step good solid determined run there they'll Mark him down at the 27 8- yd pickup on first down leaves them with second and short they'll ride the running back and leave it with him nowhere to run on that when he loses four on the carry Here Comes This Home crowd as the defense tries to get off the field on third down throws to the wide out and that pass is intercepted and they'll drag him down after a good return on the interception and the senior just snatched the ball out of the air and gave it back to his offense looking for a productive play on first down the give to the back and a really nice run and pick up there before the defense avoid a disaster and stopped the really big play hand off from the gun they get him down but not before he picks up six to the seven yd line going to work in the Red Zone they can't pick up the first down without getting it into the end zone going for six and he was trying to cash in In The End Zone in this Red Zone threat but it's incomplete boy they'd love to pick up this conversion and go to work with a first and goal you CAU it into into the end zone touchdown Wisconsin the offense did exactly what it needed to do getting the ball in field position like that it's that killer mentality you step on their throw and keep your foot down when you get opportunities like that they are golden chances to put touchdowns on the board the offense took care the period Wisconsin has the lead they came out and jumped on them early in the first let's take a break and look at the first quarter steps moment in this game as we open the second period and they try to find a way to answer looking to throw it's milro that third down pass was coming in hot before it fell to the ground looks as if the tide will punt it away he's going to try to flip the field with this one slips through the line coverage team gets the job done and they'll Mark him down at the 38 yd line the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit Jesse a very productive Drive last time wound up with a touchdown yeah mixing and matching play calling really well nice balance on that last one Dave we'll see what they can do here in this next Drive yeah and I don't expect anything different when you put together a drive like that I would do more of the same keep the pace keep it going he'll come out throwing on first down and it just squirted through his hands he wanted to take off and got to anent line getting set on second down on the move it's white they'll give him a couple that leaves him with third and eight if they can convert here that type of play can really give you a shot of momentum third and long and he'll try to throw for it working the middle it's complete and he's not going to make it the defense denying him the first down and on fourth down they'll try to put three on the board and he missed it no good lead is still still in double digits but missed a chance to make it bigger and no sting for this team I tell you what when you drive the field against a really really good defense and you have an opportunity to get points you got to capitalize on them now and that one will sting a little bit because I thought the offense did a good job moving the ball down the field here comes that Alabama offense last time David it was one two three kick the last drive that three and out sometimes that puts your defense in a bad spot and you got to get a drive together here so you don't the defense out I just think David too predictable that last Drive they got to do something here to get this defense on their heels looking downfield it's milro and the pass is incomplete Jarred Loose by the hit come to the line at the 42 facing a third and short they'll stick to the ground looking for the marker the ball pops out the offense somehow fell on it and they'll retain possession the Crimson TI will bring the punt team on the field that first punt was a beauty did take another one just like it and the ball hits at the three and gets into the end zone it'll be a Touchback first down here for the offense he's going to pass caught in the back field it's green you'll take four yards on first down every time second and six [Music] he's looking to throw he makes the connection he is tackled but it'll be a fresh set of downs and this set of downs gets started from the 33 first and 10 he's looking to throw it can't hang on and he'll tell you he really should have made that catch and he had an opportunity right in the middle it'll be second down he'll try to pop the draw they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one a third and long coming up here third here's a snap itching to fire downfield caught behind the line it's Paulie and sure tackling there to keep him from getting to the first down marker it away fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he'll call for the fair catch here the tied offense rolls onto the field David the punter got some work last time they'd like to keep him on the sidelines in this drive yeah it's not something you want to say very often you don't want the pun right there this offense needs to get back lathered up and get a little bit more of a rhythm best way to do that identify where your best players are and just get them the football give these guys some touches to Kickstart this offense throws to the tight end and it's incomplete if you're going to take a hit like that you might as well hang on to the ball couldn't connect on that last play now second and 10 from the 42 really nice stop there from this senior leader debb Rising as the crowd Gets behind this defense on third down dropping back it's milroad and the defense gets to the quarterback and he gets home again continuing his production last week two sacks this week already a sack in the first half this guy has been on a sack Terror fourth down and the punt team sends it the other way he'll bring it back it's Williams they're able to put a stop to that return right at the 30 yd line and Wisconsin has its offense back on the field they missed an opportunity to extend this lead the last time they had it Jesse yeah they got to be able to regain that momentum right go back to what was working earlier on in this one and David to me that starts with being the more physical team no I definitely agree being the more physical team but understanding the situation of the game you're still winning got the football back now put a nice drive together and execute they couldn't make the connection on second down now a third and seven to keep the drive alive it'll be a draw he couldn't get close to the marker got three yards but it'll be fourth and three and the Badgers will line up to PL it away not going to risk a return here he'll make the pair catch they'll start this drive from the 18yd line from the gun the running back tries to hit the hole that keeps the running game churning pick up of five to the 23 halfway there on first down it's second and five from the gun give on the inside getting that push a pick up of four out to the 26 now looking for that first down on Third and short from the 26 caught in the back field it's Miller and they wrap him up but not before he gets enough on the catch for the first down here's this offense with a fresh set of downs comes out throwing on first down unloads to the wide out he strike downfield and he's running in the open and he ran away from the defense to take it in touchdown K this off defense is so good man they can hurt you in so many different ways and they do it so quick so explosive they can put small Drives together big Drives together they've really had a great year and that's why they're a top 10 offense he'll bring it back from inside is sp didn't find any crease in that kickoff coverage and he'll be stopped at the 17 the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit they hope to be able to cash in on this drive David after having to punt it last time yeah and I think this offense needs to start it with the first play you need to be successful and productive on that first play and it gets you in less predictable situation no doubt too don't you just feel like there's a little bit more sense of urgency on this drive it just feels like they've got to be able to put some points up on the board here facing a third down and short from the 26 third [Applause] com they'll try to run for it they'll move those chains getting it out to the 29 yd line and trying to get this drive rolling it's the two-minute warning and we'll see if the offense can attack a little something extra on their lead before the break trying to find his man on first down finds a man on the right and it is a chunk play a huge gain on that one before the defense brings it to an end looking to move it through the air complete to the left and a sweet catch and a nice gain gets it down to the 30 yd line they'll throw it on first down got it in the middle it's green that's about as close as you can get to that marker and it will be second and just a few breaths away from the first down he's looking to throw and here's a fumble way behind the line and the fumble trickles out of bounds and a big loss on that play to the air it's vany good tackle there to stop him short of the first down and now they have to make a call we got a timeout here late in the first half and they'll try to get more points on the board before the break it's wise not to be too greedy and they'll go ahead and send out the field goal unit he splits the the uprights and puts three on the board so they put the field goal on the board about to kick it away and hoping that'll be the final points of this first half he'll bring it out it's Adams I know he thinks he can house every return but sometimes you just have to take a knee as he stopped at the 14 man down on the play as the officials take a break to let him be checked out here comes that Alabama offense this lead in the half you're behind you'd love to create something before the break to build momentum Jesse but you've also had some miscues on offense a big part of why you're losing the game right now I'd take it into halftime make my adjustments and come out ready in the second half yeah I'm going to take it in halftime too Paul but I'm trying to put some points up right here be aggressive set the tong be like Hey listen this is what you're going to get in the second half so find something really quickly you can go to on third down he drops to throw fires left just masterful working that sideline and getting the toe down for the catch the Crimson Tide comes to to the line with the first and 10 he wants to throw fires to the wide out he makes a catch he will step out of bounds but not before the big pickup and a first down for this offense man if I'm a defense I got to find a way to get some more pressure on the quarterback or disrupt their timing and their Rhythm I can't give them these big chunk plays through the air I got to be maybe a little bit more aggressive or do something a little bit different finally run out of bounds but he has this offense rolling with a first down the Crimson tied snaps it from the Red Zone they're threatening to score and they'll throw it he got it he gets it in touchdown B and this connection is on fire to start the season not one not two three games in a row he's got a receiving touchdown they continue to find the playmaker and I don't think it's going to end after game [Applause] three getting set for the point after is on for the extra point and the extra point puts them on top by one so that scoring Drive took only six plays and they finish it up with a 15yd scoring toss from inside the 10 yd line he'll bring it back back he was looking for more Running Room but none to be found as he stopped at the 23 time dwindling away as they try to put points on the board right before the half leaves it with the back breaks the tackle showed off just about every move in the book except the forward move stopped for a short game and as we wind down here in the first half the offense will just take a knee and try to muster its forces for the second half attack as they Trail going to the break we played two c Rand the Badgers will kick it away to crank up the second half the returner will field it and try to set up his offense in great field position not a lot of space to be found good Hustle by the coverage team and they stop him at the 21 the tied offense rolls onto the field going to the run to start this second half followed that blocking and got five out to the 2 six halfway there on first down it's second and five hand off from the shotgun a collision and he stopped at the 27 after picking up one they'll try to move the chains on Third and short from the 27 looking for a man it's milro quickly out to the tight end good call good execution as they move the chains and they have a first down at the 38 here's this offense with a fresh set of downs off the play fake on first down to throw can't hang on is incomplete I think he was bracing for the hit and didn't hang on to the football the give to the back they can rely on this guy to pick up solid yardage when they needed and he's out to the 43 as they come to the line on Third and short from the 43 I wonder if they already know they'll go for it if they don't make it here finds his Target down the middle he gets it oh so close to the first down marker but I think he's going to be a touch short a fairly short distance here toward the sidelines not his best work and Wisconsin has its offense back on the [Applause] field the give out of the gun he's dropped behind the line of scrimmage that'll be a loss of three not what they had in mind to start this drive here comes second and 13 he's looking to throw and the pass rush is effective and they tackle him at the 19 defense came on the field with fresh legs and here on just the second play of the drive they're able to get a sack not exactly the I ideal situation for this offense third and long backed up inside their 20 looking to throw and he needs a bunch just tried to drop a little floater in there and it's incomplete and the Badgers line up to punt it away doesn't say much for your drive when you're looking forward to the punt you'll settle for some pretty good field position and make the fair catch at around the 35 here comes that Alabama offense he leaves it with his back that's what you expect from a senior don't give them any extra yards great tackle there after picking up a couple at second and eight looking for a man it's milro he finds his man he's there to make the stop but the damage has been done as they pick up the first down on the throwing catch the transition of Alabama quarterbacks over the years has been fascinating from the dreaded game manager label to playmaker to playmaker to spread it out to Heisman winter I mean that's how much this offense has changed and evolved and they're going to be aggressive and they're going to score points in this New Age Era he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple better find the earplugs here comes the noise backing this defense on third down got it in the middle it's hail they'll pick up enough yardage for the first down they've got it at the the 30 fresh set of downs after the completion they'll throw it on first down fires to the tight end really nice job there by the quarterback understanding that it's Zone coverage on third down you're going to have to find someone working into a soft spot get the ball out of your hands quickly make an accurate throw and pick up the first well done from the Red Zone he's going to throw it and he's got it touchdown crion tied like a Thanksgiving turkey there're is being cared no shot they have no idea this quarterback's head he's on fire everything he's doing he's working defensively we got to figure something out we got to try to do something a little bit different bring more pressure at this right shoot he's on so much fire you might as well just send everybody let's everybody live with the results cuzz everything else ain't working anyways on the run for inside his own five and the returner will be brought down the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit P it finds his man on the left they make the stop but this passing game does some damage and they move the sticks with the first [Applause] down from the gun he leaves it with the B for is ahead picks up about three to the 29 got three on first down it's second and seven back to pass it's van djk he's got the tight end they're able to get him stopped just shy of the first down mark four punts already and they've got to convert here to avoid a fifth quarterback on the keeper what a good run there he has enough for the first first down the Badgers are on the [Applause] move out of the gun they'll run it inside and they try to run inside and there is nowhere to go got stuffed on first down it's second and 10 they go to the ground maybe a three yd pickup there third and long coming up they line up and it is a long way to the sticks from here on third down he'll try to pick it up through the air they'll run the screen and boy is he close to that first down maybe just a couple of inches short and the Badgers will bring the punt team onto the field they may have to pay him overtime he's punting for the fifth time today the tied offense rolls onto the field and David how they would love to stick it in the end zone one more time after that last drive and once you get the defense on their heel and you back them off a little bit you get in a little bit of Rhythm it's really hard to stop Jesse and they're going to try to do it again right here and if you're this play caller you're loving what's happening right now because everything you dialed up on that last Drive ended up working out you're just looking at your play sheet everything you're picking is working let's see if they can pull it off again here from the 47 yd line on First and 10 used the play fake now to throw grab behind the line it's Miller he is stopped by behind the line of scrimmage they'll lose yards on that one they'll run it out of the shotgun and a decent gain there before the defense makes the [Applause] stop so Alabama takes the lead into the quarter break they've built a cushion they've got a nice lead now the task is finish the deal as you take a look at the third quarter [Music] steps but so too is time as we open the fourth these fans stepping up to help this defense on third down got him in it's LW and he was knocked down immediately short of the line to gain they'll have to make a decision here on the move tackle is made after the first down wide outs all wated up in a bunch coming out on first down with the play fake Chuck it away just as he was hit just gets rid of the football nobody to throw it to it'll be second down from the gun they'll try the middle and he found plenty of Running Room on that one before the defense was finally able to get him down to the air on first down looking for the end zone and it's taken away by the defense and they desperately needed that turnover we talk about having to have it we needed to force the turnover we had to get the football back they're in such a good position to run out the clock try to win no sirve our ball first [Applause] [Music] [Applause] down and Wisconsin has its offense back on the field from the shotgun they'll run it into the pile maybe got one he stopped at the 21 didn't get much on first down it's second and nine the give to the tail back they bring him down and he's going to lose a yard on that one you make up the game plan and not a lot on the play sheet for this third and long from inside their own [Applause] 20 and the incomplete pass will bring up fourth down the Badgers will punt this one away and these guys have been busy six pun of the day looking for a block it's Adams he'll get it up to about the 44 yd line before they slam the brakes on him on first down here comes this offense from the gun leaves it on the inside with the back and that's a very productive first down play and bringing up second and three from the shotgun the inside K how about the patience from this sophomore to hunt that green grass they've got it at the 37 it's first and 10 he'll do it himself shakes off the tackle this defense really has their hands full guys they got to play with great eye discipline because they don't know who's going to be keeping the football in the Run game and that time you saw the QB he was able to kind of skirt his way to get some positive yards here's an interception oh did they need that turnover and a big return after the int set up the offense for this possession well what a play by the defense there trailing here in the fourth quarter by one possession able to steal it away now and put their offense in position to at least go tie this game the run from the shotgun and a pickup of eight opens a world of opportunities on second and two after the good pickup on first down let's see if they keep it on the ground the RPO fire complete to to the left and how does he keep running I'd be dizzy after a spin move like that finally some signs of life from this offense which has done nothing in the second half it's first and 10 that's caught it's Williams and he was just a couple of steps away from taking that one even further after the catch and the Badgers will snap it on First and 10 from the gun they'll try to impose their will they make the stop but you can't give up four yard a chunk on the ground down in this area of the field it's at the 18 run in the Red Zone it's white and he'll go down but he delivered the business end of his stiff arm to that defender on the way and the offense knows the task ahead they're down eight it's first and goal they need a touchdown and the two snowed under by the defense picked up some of what they needed on first down now it's second and goal from the five it's now second and goal the run up the middle trying to find his way to the goal line he's knocked down in the back field he'll lose a couple if they can get it in here we could have a thrilling into this game it is third and goal fires into the end zone and it's caught touchdown badger and how about the protection up front the Big Fellas doing their job he just sits in the pocket sits in the pocket wide receivers break off their routes he finds the open guy for the big play nice job of protecting your quarterback dropping back it's van Dy he's got it the two-point try is good and we are tied here in the fourth here comes the kickoff as we are all tied up in the fourth quarter he'll start the return inside his SP he was hoping for something a little more Dynamic but they get him on the ground at the 20 here comes that Alabama offense after throwing the pick on the last drive need to take care of the ball this time Jesse we're going to find out a lot about this quarterback right here too how does he fight through adversity after that last Drive yeah clear the mechanism move on that that's a part of it right if you're going to be a great player you got to learn how to handle the these mistakes and move on he'll pull it on the read at the 45 on it way they make the stop but this running game moves to change as they get the first down he's going to pass the short hands it's hail good pick up there they'll move the chains in their set up at the 41 it's a first and 10 the give to the right able to scr three yds out of that one somehow it's second and seven the clock has stopped as we have reached the two-minute warning here in the ball game they'll try the run really nice stop there from this senior leader a field goal attempt from here would be 54 ydd David love to pick up a few on third down give to the back and he's a real Nowhere Man tackled in this no game land timeout is called and it's the defense wanting to make sure that everyone's on the same page for this big down it's good easy call for the refs and after taking the lead guys we still have a big finish coming so after the made field goal they'll kick it away and rely on their defense on the move from inside is five he was looking for some Running Room but not much to be found as he stopped at the 18 the Wisconsin offense will come back on the field to jump around a bit they're bringing heat got his man on the right and the defense makes the immediate tackle but he has enough for the first down to the air it's van Dy and he drops it just a little too slippery in the hands after misfiring it's second down he's looking to throw pocket starts to collapse and he can't find anyone open and down he goes a sack here late in the fourth on Third and long hoping to throw beyond the sticks and he can't get it off taken down what a huge way this late in the game now fourth down fourth down got to have it here throws for the tight end can't find his man it'll be incomplete and that is a heartbreaker this late in the game the quarterback takes a knee it came down to the final quarter clutch plays guys delivered and they get a close win yeah ree Big Time Players make big plays and big games and that's what happened in this circumstance as a coaching staff David you love this you know that you have confidence in your guys to go out and be able to execute when it matters the most correct and you don't know until the games right you don't know when those moments present themselves how are they going to handle a great job handling a close game executing down the stretch like they needed to so that's going to do it for us for Jesse
