giving Chase they're not going to get him tou that Indiana on the Neil TI and Auto Service radio network from learfield you're listening to inside IU football all over hooer country to the end zone touchdown Indiana holy cow what a play now here's the voice of the hooers Don fer despite the sweltering heat of this week a new college football season is about to begin and the excitement of the campus of Indiana University and for fans across the state has reached the height of optimism we haven't seen in almost two decades the reason is a new coach who has never had a losing season in three different schools over 13 years and a revamped roster that has brought almost 50 new faces and a wealth of talent to this program and the first test of the new year will take place this Saturday when the Hooser host Florida International University at the Rock Memorial Stadium here in Bloomington good evening everybody I'm Don fiser welcoming you to IU football with Kurt cetti we're here at our new location who your Hanks restaurant on College Mall Road and our show is brought to you by communitycars.com where you can purchase your vehicle online and have it delivered by using the Express store at communitycars.com community cars has vehicles that will fit your budget no matter how big or small check out our inventory today at communitycars.com our show tonight will be a little different the shows the rest of the season because of the excessive heat and with practice being moved to the evening we're only going to have the coach here for a few minutes here this evening uh on our first segment so he can join the team for practice and athletic director Scott Dolson will sit in for the remainder of the show and I said no booing all right coach Sig thanks for being here tonight we're really looking forward to a brand new football season I know you are too oh yeah and and I apologize this has been a little bit of a different week 42 years never we've practiced at night every day this week and uh we're on the field uh getting off the field 9:30 at night you know getting home 10 because of the Heat and uh mid 90s and uh I think it's helped us and uh so uh we're starting practice here in a little bit that's why I got my practice Garb on and Thursday night's a real important practice too or Thursday uh cuz you got the whole game plan in now and it's kind of a dress rehearsal today's a big you work on red area goal line two-point plays two minute yesterday's third down and day for normal down distance so this is a big practice I I'll know a lot more about where we're at walking off the field this practice tonight coach uh I know you've been here for well not quite eight months or nine months now at this point but you've done so much work with this program through those period this period of time with spring football all the recruiting that you did as soon as you got here hit the ground running with your coaching staff uh and you brought many of your coaches with you the fact that you were able to do that has that been a major reason why you were able to get so many new faces into this program this year Well I you know we had the GMU crew come um it's just diff college football's different now with the portal and this year it seemed like every time a coach left a lot of players uh left also but they they all happened to follow us I guess they felt good about the program and when you have success you feel good about the program and but bringing uh a lot of the coaches with me bunch of capable guys you know that that helped uh smooth the transition and felt really good about what we got done in December and um so but you know we haven't been on field yet so I I feel like we've made progress I we're going to learn a lot about ourselves Saturday a lot and I've got a pretty good idea of of where we're at but uh you know it's time to play coach you can talk about culture at a different place that kind of thing but you try to build your own culture at all the school you've been at and have been able to do that do you see that progress being made with this team here absolutely no doubt about it um I think we've come a long way you know in terms of our you know mental toughness and playing hard play in play out and handling you know success and failure and starting faster finishing stronger it's still not there I'm anxious to see us and how we play sity and how we respond to success failure and all the different things that happened in the football game cuz you know you want to be fast physical Relentless but you got to be smart disciplin and poised too and that was the the thing that you know I we thought we made great progress the last place I was at is that when I went there you know they were uh highly penalized kind of an undisciplined outfit and we've always been the least penalized uh team in the league sense and uh number one turnover ratio and so um we're going to learn about ourselves uh quite a bit on Saturday as far as positions are concerned this year um how did you come about or how did it play out is it all about what they do in the practice field and how what their attitude is toward the way you practice or how do you deal with that about performance man I mean you know you play like your practice I mean you want to play good you got to practice good you know you can't be horseshit during practice and expect to play on Saturday and and you know we have a guy or two that think they can and they don't they won't so uh you know it's all about habits how you do something's how you do everything and you can't turn it off and on life ain't like that you know choices and decisions freedom of choice but not freedom of consequence and first you form your habits and your habits form you and the Habit has to be Excellence striving for excellence all the time and when you have a a bunch of guys that think that way then you you're going to have a good thing you talked about the fact that guys have to get rid of every negative play that's made out there that they commit uh tell us a little bit about that and how you how you get these guys to understand that well I I mean you know you learn from failure and uh you can't become complacent because of success either you always got to have the The Edge you got to be humble and hungry now in the game those things happen so quickly you know you have a good play and you may have a bad play and you know you got compartmentalize every play's got a life in the history of its own 6 seconds a play 11 guys doing their job fast physical Relentless onto the next play you know that one's over Total Focus now and so can't be affected by uh the circumstances of the game and it's like when the team builds a lead you know you can't you can't feel good and let up right you got to keep the foot on the jugular and you get down a couple scores you can't have anxiety and frustration you got to chip weight keep your focus you know resiliency and belief which you know I had quite a few uh games that place I came from we go down two scores three scores came back and one and uh that that's the medal of a team you know you find out what you're made up so we're going to find out if where that rubber ball that you drop on the ground bounces back in your hand or that glass ball that you drop and shatters into a million pieces I think we're more like the rubber ball okay but we got to prove it on the field you brought 13 players from James Madison with you and six coaches along with Derrick Owens who's your strength and conditioning guy you were able to to have all these people follow you here but then you also got a whole bunch of guys out of the transfer portal that were pretty talented guys and played wherever else they were at how did you go about doing that well you know we had a lot of guys go the portal when I came I think when I came here we had 10 offensive starters half our defense so so normally those transfer guys they want to step in and have the opportunity to play and start right away you don't promise them that you promise them the opportunity show what the depth chart is and uh so you know I think it helped that we had a history of success we had a history of developing quarterbacks a history of developing receivers a history of playing great defense up front playing great defense period we had needs at a lot of different positions and we had contacts and so uh we brought a lot of good train transfers in here and um you know do I love where we're at at every position on our football team right now no I don't you know are there some positions worth in yeah there are and uh staying healthy is uh you know always important but uh we got a lot of new guys I think that can make an impact on this football team that will make an impact on this football team and uh they think the right way they practice the right way and I'm excited to watch them play coach Florida International is the first opponent what's your thought on them opening game uh you never know what to expect uh you know they've got a lot of new faces too uh you catch those teams at full strength when they're not worn down they're dangerous the quarterback it can run can throw uh you know it all starts with him and we got to keep him in the pocket and our defensive line needs win up front and we need to make it a long day for him the backs are good and the receivers it's a deep unit you know they're skilled on offense uh offensive line you know they're trying to rebuild that so defensively they got experience in the secondary uh they're well coached um football team you know they'll have speed what do you look at from their perspective how how are they set up what kind of offense do they run and how about their defense yeah offensively um you know they're going to be balanced between the run and the pass have a lot of nice Concepts they're going to spread you out a lot of different looks and formations um make you think a little bit a lot of switch routes uh it's all about the quarterback the you know the quarterback can break contain when he's under pressure he is going to look to throw at first uh you know when you extend play some guys tuck it under and they they just going to run you know he does a good job of throwing the football uh in extended plays but he can run it too uh he's a good athlete uh but they're going to get the ball their play makers in space and in the Run game they're going to run outside Zone inside Zone insert and they got good backs they got three good backs good tight end uh defensively they're they star in a three down uh there's been some rumor about them going to more four down they played a little bit of four they do a lot of things on defense uh they gave up some points last year so it it's you can't really predict Play and play out where they're going to be but by this time in Camp you've seen it all on in all three phases so it's blocking tackling throwing catching and smacking a guy in the mouth and being physical coach I can't tell you enough how excited this whole state is about Indiana football right now we're looking further forward to this first ball game we're going to let you get back to work I appreciate that this is a big one tonight uh I think this team really has a chance um and um we've worked hard and uh we're going to be exciting to watch coach thanks for being here thanks man Kurt cetti inside IOU football with the coach here this evening and when we come back Scott Dolson will join us as he will sit in for the coach the rest of the show tonight and uh we'll look forward to Scott's wife is here so do not boo I've asked you asked you a couple times now don't boo when I and obviously he's the athletic director at Indiana University has done a remarkable job over his years in that position and Scott welcome to the show tonight really appreciate your coming and filling in for the coach hey thanks for having me Don it's great to be here Scotty tell us a little bit about the hiring process of Kurt zetti because uh that has to be a little bit unique in the sense of how many applications you had how many people wanted the job and how many you interviewed you know it's really interesting you say that because I was thinking about that actually when I was listening to coach Sig cuz it seems like honestly that he's been here for 10 years cuz so much has happened in between that time when we hired him until now and and honestly we'd worked really hard on putting together a what we call a pro former on what an ideal head coach would look like here and we looked at schools that we would say would be similar to us that have had success in football schools like North Carolina Duke Kansas uh Kentucky we looked around the country we looked around the Big 10 and we put together a list of all the qualities we felt like an ideal head coach would would would need here we also looked at our history in Nano football and thought after last looking at at the last 50 years when we've been successful what are the things that the coach was doing why did why were we successful why weren't we and and therefore had probably 12 to 15 qualities that we wanted I'll never forget the first phone call with Coach Sig it was on the Sunday you know we made the change Sunday morning started making phone calls about 12:30 that day we had a search firm people don't always understand what a search firm does but a search firm really helps from a timing standpoint they can set up calls literally I was on the phone from probably 12: :30 to 11: at night but first time I talked to Coach Sig it was like 45 minutes and honestly I felt like when I was looking at my notes of all the qualities that we needed it's like he somebody had photocopied that and given it to him and he was absolutely everything that I was saying he was saying it was it could have gone better and I remember hanging up and I called president Whitten right away and I said you know I think this guy's different it was really interesting and it it was so amazing how again the quality is that we need someone that had had coaching experience we need someone who was offensive minded developed quarterbacks had been a recruiting coordinator all these different qualities and he had the blueprint to the tea so since that point in several interviews after that we did it in three days you know we ended on Wednesday finalizing the deal but everything he said he was going to do he's done he's he's actually exceeded what we thought and that's kind of Rarity as well you know you go through that quick process when you finally get together it's like getting married in 3 days cuz it happens that fast yeah and so it has been even better than I thought and you know I like to under promise and overd deliver cuz it you know we've got a we've got to do it on the field but I'm really confident that he's a perfect pit for us and is absolutely exactly what we needed his personality is a little bit different uh it's not like anybody else well it is a little bit like a number of coaches that we've had but it's a combination of those things that makes him a little different yeah that's a great point he he he's got a lot of the qualities of a lot of our great coach we've had here in that his personality is really he is so focused on his plan and his blueprint the thing that I would say that most fans just don't have an opportunity to see that outside of football and and off the field he's really not a cocky person or he doesn't really like to kind of talk in in in that confident way he's really just a good guy he's a good person and and that's one of the things that he just really is a great fit for us and that he's got that hard knows competitive you know if you look at our history you look at and we've done a lot of studying of this looked at Jerry egley you looked at bob Knight you looked at Doc counselman you look at why are those programs consistently at the level were they at the level they were and and I believe it has a lot to do with the personality the the blueprint how they put it together and and uh he certainly has had that all right we're going to take another break because we didn't take one at the beginning of the show tonight primarily because we wanted to get Sig on and give you guys a chance to hear from him for the first first 10 15 minutes of the show so we're going to take another quick break here so we'll catch up on our commercials that we have to put on the air that allow us to be here with you we'll be back after these me messages from [Applause] blairfield it's no coincidence that Neil rhymes with deal because that's something you could again to inside IU football with Kurt zetti and tonight of course Scott Dolson sitting in for the coach for the remainder of tonight's program a reminder that coach etty show is on at 7:05 on Thursday nights throughout most of this season presented by communitycars.com and hosted live here at the hoer Hanks East off of college ball Road in Bloomington but next week's show will not be here next week's show will be recorded pre-recorded because next week they have a short week they're playing on Friday night and so on Wednesday night we will Air the show it will be pre-recorded therefore you can still stop here at who your Hanks come and have dinner or whatever you'd like to do but next week show again is a tele a uh a show that will be on tape therefore uh it'll be two weeks from tonight will be the next show for the coach here at hoer Hanks all right Scott I wanted to ask you a couple more things one of the things that we talked about uh during the break here was the coach the coaching staff that coach zetti has assembled and the number of years that these guys have been with him both the offensive and defensive coordinator have been with him for a total of 15 years now how has he been able to hang out out to these guys with all the success he's had you know that's a great question and it really says a lot about Coach Sig and and just the the type of program he runs and and it's and again coincidentally as we studied other programs staff continuity is a big factor in team's consistent success and that was one of the other things that we looked at and and how he's done it I think it's it's it's multiple ways I think he treats his staff really well I mean he's very demanding uh he has high expectations he runs a tight ship as you can imag he knows exactly what he wants to accomplish every day but there's so much uh that that the staff there's so much Clarity that I think the staff really appreciates that they know what expected of them and I don't care what business you're in when you have Clarity with your employees and they know what's expected they like that there's a comfort zone the other part is he's just really treats them really well I mean I think he really uh appreciates the life of a coach and I think that he creates an environment where they want to stay and that's not the way it is all over the country in different places I mean it's a it's a great life when it when it's going well but it's it's a lot of time it's a lot of time away from families and I think he really understands it he's a family person U and I think he creates an environment that they want to stay and one of the things in the interview process he said to me is it's really really important that he keeps his staff together he really likes to have that continuity and that's how you build that consistency with a program and and it's interesting you say that because that's really important well he told me at one point U that he believes less is more mhm and so in that regard he said I go in between 400 and 5 every morning of practice days and I put together a practice schedule for each one of my coaches not just the players I put together a practice schedule for each of my coaches so therefore he does that but here's the other thing in the less and more category they practice for less time than any coach I've ever seen in Indiana they practice about an hour and 45 to 50 minutes their practice is as organized as you'll ever see there's no downtime that practice is go go go the whole time and once they're done with that hour and 45 or 50 minutes players go back shower up whatever they're going to do I think they may have had a meeting once in a while but not very often uh cuz he doesn't sit there and talk to them and just jabber them to death or look at film for hours after the after the practice is over with they look at film just like everybody else does but it's all combined in a certain amount of time and his coaches are the same way and those guys are home at night most of the time by 8:00 mhm Tom Allen's staff was here until midnight most every night these guys are home by 8:00 to spend time with their families so that less and more context is really important that's a great Point Don and and that's one of the things that again back to the interview process and how he continues to to deliver in what he says he's he's in some ways an old school coach disciplinarian he knows exactly how he wants things done but at the same time he understands that uh today's generation their attention span is a lot shorter so he really believes in in quick messages and and getting them in and out and honestly I hate to even bring up a basketball and Coach Knight because we're talking about football but I grew up under coach Knight as you know as a manager and and and and I'm not trying to compare coach Sig to coach Knight but I am saying that coach Knight was the exact same way in terms of really understanding you get the most out of your time in practice but you you certainly want to just not overdo the time it's more efficient with that time and that's what I remember coach Sig saying that in the interview process and and and and I brought in uh Mike kading you know our starting center who who's been around for a long time and I had lunch with him right before fall Camp started and one of his comments to me is he said it's amazing players know exactly what's expected of them and we know that we're going to get in and get out we get in we get our work done we know exactly what we need to do and it's less time but they get more done and so those are just different examples of where I really like the organization of the program and that's how you can really I keep using this word but I think it's so important you need consistency the players need a consistent message the coaches need consistent Direction and that consistency will hopefully lead to consistent play on the field all right we're going to come back uh and talk a little bit more with Scott about this program right now and not just about football but about the changes that have been taking place this Summer that changes the student body section uh and of course ly Foods now serving at concession stands and we had a little preview of that this week with all the media which was pretty interesting in itself so we'll be back delicious wings and armouth watering steak sliders they also have big screen TVs a private party room beer wine and 10 cocktails for under 10 bucks we're located at 1285 South College Mall Road in front of Kroger and at who your.com Scott why are the students moving and where are they moving to yeah what we did is we really we met after we hired coach s and we said what can we do to really improve The Fan Experience and also improve our home field environment which has been good but how can we take it to another level so what we decided to do is Slide the students just a section towards the north so towards the North End Zone and wrap them around around the North End so that when you watch other games on TV and you hear they're going into the student end and it gets really loud and it's crazy we just didn't have that impact so by sliding the students kind of to the to the north a section and then wrapping them around where the band is we uh we felt we could do that we also out on on the field which I think will be really interesting that we put some bleachers down on that field on the North End Zone that we're putting our student Roc members in down there about 200 students and they're going to have the ability to really generate some really loud noise so we think when when our our opponents come into that North End that's going to be the student end that really gets the place rocking and and hopefully creates the home field advantage we want we're excited what kind of response have you had from the student body as far as coming to football games this year terrific terrific we've sold over 13,000 student tickets which is is really a big increase from from last year and just and and honestly I should say this our students our fans across the board uh even the last few years when we've struggled a little bit we've had tremendous support and I'm not just saying this cuz this is my job and I I grew up as as you know in the Varsity Club that our fans have just been Relentless and uh we just want to deliver for our fans cuz they have been behind us uh in in just unbelievable ways well without question what about season ticket season tickets are up 10% across the board if on average we're up about 10% in in in every category which is really good and so obviously we can still grow from that but coach Sig and I just talked about that the other day I think that's how we've got to you know continue to earn the the ability for fans that really want to come to games you know we don't uh take it for granted we don't expect people should just come because we we asked them to we want to create an environment on the field and and certainly around the stadium we're doing lots of things that that when you come it's it's a great day it should be fun can you lock the gates at halftime no we're not doing that yet we we've talked about pass outs are a Hot Topic everywhere I go that comes comes up we are not eliminating pass outs we contemplated it our security uh folks back we've gone back and forth on on on what to do on that but we're not doing that yet uh but someday we might all right tell me about the new food and the concessions at the stadium yeah we're so excited about that we had a survey as most of you know last year of all our our fans and one of the things that came up a lot was our our our Fan Experience from a food standpoint uh we we've had handled that in-house for quite a while now we we put together an RFP request for prop proposal uh we had several bids and we outsourced that to Levy restaurants and ly is a national company that has uh numerous stadiums around the country and including gbridge Fieldhouse Purdue Louisville in in the college ranks their senior VP is an iug grad which is kind of super cool so he was really interested in getting involved and as a result our whole food off offerings our concession stands they put $5 million of of work into our actual concession stand infrastructure uh We've we've got now grabing goes there's six grabbing Goes Around The Concourse we can just go in grab what you want set it down and it scans it and and it's a really quick it it's supposed to increase the the uh volume that you can get through there by 50% we partnered with local restaurants we're so excited about uh social Cantina buffal Louise A's Pizza we've got uh chocolate mousse we've got a lot of local flavor that we think is going to be really unique and when you walk around the stadium it's going to have a just a different feel and still have Upland Brewery we still have uh some of the old regulars that people like but I think it's going to be much different I think our fans going to feel like we've really modernized our food offerings and and uh we we'll be able to improve our customer service as well in fact I should say this we had 115 locations where you could purchase food or drink and starting this Saturday we'll have 175 locations wow that's unbelievable that's a lot well I mean but you have to have that especially if you're going to get full houses like you're expecting you get exactly it starts Sig starts winning the football game you're so right yeah we talk about as a staff all the time you know we can't ask everyone to come in and then create a poor experience you know it's it's like any business when you get them there you want to make certain it's a quality experience and we're doing everything we can uh with the infrastructure we have to make it make it great is anything changing traffic-wise no traffic wise we we we've we've we've studied we studied every year I've talked about traffic so much in my career I think we've got uh we've got it down pretty much we have improved around the grass Lots last year we had we tried some new ways to to park people in the grass lots and and and honestly there were some positives with it some negatives so we have improved on that but the actual traffic around the stadium I think we've got a pretty good rhythm with that and the reality is we have awesome parking right we have great parking when you have great parking you're bringing a lot of cars in in a location so I'm never going to say that it's just going to be uh this quick quick uh situation coming in but we want it to be organized and as quick as it possibly can good to have 69 done for the most part for sure that's been terrif rrific really good all right we'll come back we'll talk a little bit about nil I'm sure everybody's interested in that subject because that means money for the players all right we'll come back with more on inside IU football with Kurt sigety right after these messages odds are you think more about your commute than cancer or heart transplant and you worry more about missing an exit season Kurt zetti joined us for the first 15 minutes of the show tonight then he sent uh we sent him back to practice because his football team is practicing all week long under the lights at uh Memorial Stadium primarily because of the Heat and the sweltering problems that they've dealt with and uh he has never had Kurt told me uh when we were sitting here earlier he said I've never had a bad night practice ever players love to practice at night and obviously this week they're doing it all week long which will probably be the only time this year cuz I don't think we're going to have this heat wave for the rest of September I hope not anyway all right let's talk a little bit about nil how important it is to these to the program and to the university before I do that I want to say one thing I forgot to mention this about the food this is going to be great you got to listen this is so interesting ly restaurants created the hooer dog I told him that I would say this think about this the hooer dog is going to be a foot long hot dog hot dog topped with pulled pork Indiana sweet corn and zesty mustard sauce so how about that fish I I test how's that sound I tested it they had mine was cold okay okay but but mine was long it wasn't a foot long it's about that long that was they wouldn't they wouldn't give us a whole foot long deal but that was the inch dog but it was good it was very good foot long so i' had to mention I promised I would mention that but nil has been around now for for three years and I I I'll say this nil without hoers connect hoers for good and fans who have supported that honestly we would not be talking about Coach s being here we wouldn't be talking about the excitement with the uh recruiting class and transfer class same thing with both men's women's basketball so our fans again and through whoers for good whoers connect is they've really stepped up and nil what we've done through the collectives is is really create nil opportunities for our stent athletes and most schools do that and and and so that's been where the ball is kind of lied right or lay right right now what we're doing now is we're working on what's called Revenue share so starting about a year from now uh if the there's a lawsuit that was settled called the house case and it was a lawsuit about limiting benefits to student athletes and ultimately what it what it's going to determine is that if and it should be signed in about five months if if everything goes through that each school with the opportunity to share up to 22% of their revenue and the and the revenue is determined I don't want to get too technical with you but looking at the power five conferences it's the average of the ticket sales media rights and all the sponsorships what that really means is about $22 million it's a cap it's not a floor it's a cap you can you can share up to that much with your student athletes that you choose it's it's not equal across all student athletes and each school will have the opportunity to try to figure out if they can if they can do that we're going to have to do that and that's part of what I'm doing right now I spend probably half my time working on our budget projections trying to make sure that that we can carve that amount of money out of our budget we have about $135 million budget right now and we're going to need to starting next year carve out about $22 million of that to help distribute to student athletes that that we choose depending on their Market to help us compete and it's a great opportunity for our student athletes it's what I call a part of modernizing College athletics and what I tell a lot of fans and I could talk for a couple hours about it it's a lot of detail our commissioner of the Big 10 Tony peti is amazing he's really leading the the the transformation of College athletics in so many ways and for us it's about uh competing it's about modernizing College athletics and doing everything we can to keep our base the same our base our foundation of IU Athletics is still academics it's Athletics it's personal growth all the great things that we feel good about about IU Athletics is the same now there's this additional component where they can they can share in the revenue and and uh that's the card we're dealt it's great for student athletes we support it fully and uh and you'll hear more about that in the future but we work on that a lot do all players on the football team get money right now yes I would say no not all will they then uh it depends on on my gut feeling is most likely most likely the the the other part of this is and not to confuse everyone gets a little confusing they they roster caps they'll come in with this scholarship uh limits will be lifted right now there are scholarship limits and no roster caps the roster cap for football is going to go to 105 right now as long as it balances Title 9 out you can have as many as you really need in football we've got about 17 or 18 right now next year the roster will be 105 every sport is going to have a cap we balance that out Title 9 but I do think in the revshare uh the majority of football players will get some some additional funds out in addition this is all in addition to the scholarships and so there's a lot of math to do and again it's hard to follow as I say that as I look around just here as we're in uh in house here it's it's it's a comp I need a a whiteboard to kind of lay it out for you but the key thing I think for fans to really understand is it's still we're an education-based program we still I don't want any to worry that it's not about academics we want our student athletes to graduate we all the things that you feel good about we feel good about though just an additional component to that and for us to succeed which we all want right we all want to win and continue to to compete at the highest levels we've got to participate in the ref share and it's it's a good thing for our student athletes it's a really positive thing and we've seen a lot of positive with it with nil now there's this other component got about 2 minutes left Scot tell me this about the revenue sharing aspect of it because I've heard comments from others uh at other schools about the fact that schools may have to start dropping programs or are talking about athletic programs because of this move to revenue sharing yeah we certainly uh hope that's not the case you know that you can see that that potentially could happen around the country because basically what you're doing is you're adding a new expense item into your program that that and just about I don't care what size your program is whether you know Ohio State's one of the largest in the Big 10 uh and and their budget let's say I'm guessing is close to 240 million ours is 140 uh but but most departments you spend what you earn and and that's uh you don't have an extra $22 million within that budget so you have to find creative ways to make that happen you have to drive Revenue up and try to consolidate expenses where you can and so we've got everything on the table we're really working hard at it I had a great meeting with President Whitten today and laid out a a three-year plan A Five-Year Plan that we're working on and and uh that's what we'll continue to do but that's part of I think one of the key things everyone needs to understand that football is so important uh football drives so much revenue and being uh in the Big 10 conference uh we we really have to make certain that's why coach Sig is here we need to be relevant in football we need to make make certain we get that momentum because it drives the engine for the whole department certainly men's basketball speaks for itself as well particularly here in Indiana but football is really really critical and uh and we hope that we can thrive in this new world and that's our plan uh we want to make certain that we can compete and our fans feel great about everything we're doing continuing to balance all the that are good about College athletics with this new new uh new opportunity Scott can't thank you enough for filling it for Coach tonight obviously we won't be back to that scenario again this year but hopefully obviously we start with big wi against Florida International on Saturday well thank you for having me and thanks for putting up with me here on the radio and and in person I know you were anxious to hear coach Sig and and I like to under promise and overd deliver that's for sure and so I don't like saying this but we want to make certain that we uh we make you proud and you feel really good about what we're doing on the field and off thank you final thoughts right after these messages from bfield are you
