Davis Warren Reflects on Season-Opening Start, Talks Mental Preparation, Confidence

I was just ready to get going ready to prove that uh to myself more than anything um that that I belong in this position that that I'm the man for the job the man for these guys after losing his senior year of high school due to covid Davis Warren was making his first start of any sort since his junior year in 2019 and he reflected on those first moments under Center Saturday at the big house I didn't Vision it in my head so many times of being out there uh and for the first play of the game and and starting and feel like I'm really leading the team and um to have it you know happen and and and end in a win was was a really good feeling Warren's comments speak of mental imagery also a huge tool used by his predecessor JJ McCarthy that's something we actually talk about a lot me and him and even talking about it and just different things that I'm doing you know pregame um in the days leading up to the game in practice envisioning myself in that Stadium you know it being nice and loud in there the fans getting riled up and um just calming my nerves calming my body down a couple deep breaths I'd picture you know seven nation's Army already playing in the in the in the background as as we ran out the field that mental toughness was tested early on with an interception something his teammates took note of proud of how he bounced back he didn't let it get to him at all um uh then ended up on that big Drive putting a seed right where I you know right where I needed it regardless of what's Happening um throughout the course of the game he's very even even kill guy and he um he doesn't get too high too low which is super important especially as a quarterback and leader of an offense you know he he does a good job of just inspiring confidence and and everyone else around him which leads to perhaps the biggest takeaway from Saturday his confidence didn't waver do you feel like your teammates have attached to that can sense that are ready to follow you no doubt 100% I I felt it in Fall Camp um I think just as we went on especially going against this defense uh I felt the confidence of our offense grow and I have no doubt that the same thing's happening out there on the field for MGO blue TV I'm Ed kersi
