US reports nearly 300 cases of mosquito-borne West Nile virus

in recent weeks the United States has been on high alert and that is due to Surge in the West Nile Virus cases the virus which is primarily spread due to Mosquito has been making headlines as several notable individuals including a doctor whose name is FY the former Director of National Institute of allergy and infectious diseases has fallen in the doctor is 83 years old and is hospitalized for 6 days but since has been recovered at home now this case has drawn significant attention highlighting the virus potential severity another troubling case involves 18-year-old boy from MyUI the boy has experienced several complication from the virus including paralysis and the need for ventilator his condition has been Stark reminder of the virus potential of severe illas then in Houston John Hudson contracted West denile virus following an increase in mosquito population after Hurrican Barrel he spent several days in the ICU before being moved to the rehabilitation facility Well his case has underscored how natural events can become a deadly mosquito Bor disease westnile virus first appeared in Us in 1999 and it has since become the leading mosquito Bor disease in the country in fact according to the center of Disease Control and prevention about one in five people have been infected with this particular virus and they develop symptoms such as fever headache and body aches and more sever cases through rare can lead to severe illness and even be fatal now this year there has been 289 reported cases across 33 States the virus is mainly transited through mosquito bites or is most active during the summer and the mosquito season people over 60 are at high risk of severe disease currently there is no vaccine or specific treatments for West Nile Virus so preventing mosquito bite is very very crucial experts recommend using a mosquito reent cream wearing long sleeved clothes and controlling mosquito around your home the virus can spread through mosquitoes to humans after mosquito bite infected birds all transmission between people is rare those who currently been affected are advised to avoid blood donation and organ transplant for 120 days to prevent any potential spread this is times XP that you're watching and I'm Dy arri and we recommend you to stay safe [Music]
