K’Lavon Chaisson: 'We have another opportunity'

Intro question for start how's Camp so far for you C been great been great um what's different about this system maybe than the systems you you've previously been in um I wouldn't say too much as far as the outside linebacker position um I think a 3 Four 3 four defensive scheme is made for outside linebackers to to make plays and compete and there's opportunity here for me to do that and I'm excited for it what uh what was your Main goal in camp main goal in this Camp I mean everybody wants to earn a job but what was your main goal to show during Camp it was maybe Improvement or what have you um just get better every day obviously um there's a certain level of respect and um attention the that everybody wants in their game uh and that's the and that's the ultimate goal so every day I come out here just to get better and obviously to make the team better for Fresh start sure how nice was it at this point in your career to kind of get a fresh start sorry can't you repeat that how nice to get a fresh start somewhere at this stage of your career um that's a great great opportunity and I appreciate uh I appreciate Dave a lot um I think it's something that I was looking for uh I'm excited to be a part of at the end of the day is still football um and every time you get a chance to Laci cleats up and and and go out there and be on the grass you have an opportunity so um with that being said we have another opportunity again today and tomorrow and so you know with the blessings of the Lord so forth so I appreciate it a lot Why why was it something you were looking for say it again why was it something you were looking for like why was it something I'm looking for something you were looking for why um I think just in general that everybody wants to be able to compete and and to help their team uh to be to reach the ultimate level um you know I'm saying when it comes to hosting a lardi so um when I obviously when I'm when I come here that's the ultimate goal is to compete and help the team win and that's what I was looking forward to How as you were weighing your opportunities how did you kind of um make a decision where you come in here for an opportunity but it is a team that has struggled the last couple years um I think we have a lot of simulators um I think as far as the team if it's if it's my personality um I'm I'm a greedy guy um I want to go out there and get it regardless of any means without the expectations or whatever who may put upon us um and I think that's that's the that's the goal and that's the identity of what we have going forward so um everything just look like look like a perfect fit as far as both of us and I was excited I'm excited they gave me Transition opportunity transition like for you say it again what was the transition I know you worked out I think in the off season was it Houston yes how how did that go and then just kind of the transitioning to Charlotte how how's it been I'm not really too big of a transition football is football so uh wherever you may go you got to you got to lace up and Pat up and and find a way to make plays and get it done so that's what the transition was would you like the opportunity to to Opportunity play you know play this pre-season say it again I'm trying to getting reps in August how unimportant I take I take full advantage of every opportunity play um unfortunately I had a chance to to sit on the sideline um with injuries and I know how it is to not be able to physically perform so any chance I get out there to play um with the NFL logo um on my chest um my name on the back of my jersey with the Panthers name on the front as well um it's a blessing I don't take it for granted you're out there pretty early before practice you're out there pretty late after practice what what your what like do you do in your pre-workout and post-workout routine um I have a routine um I don't really know if I want to detail it and kind of just lay it out to where maybe it it it's judged upon an eye to where it may be right or not right um but I have a routine that I feel like it works for me and I feel like it helped the team get better for sure in the routine um for quite a while System fit what about this system you feel like fit she what about this system you feel like fits you um once again I feel like just a 34 system in general fits fits out outside linebacker um and great benefits so um obviously with that opportunity and just being able to touch the field that's all I need room now with jaavan Clowny gu's Jaavan Clowney been doing this for a long time what have you kind of picked up from him just the past few weeks um we picked up a lot of nuggets for sure um obviously he's he's he's got a chance to be a part of some some some exceptional teams um and I I never stopped listening to him um that's a ear I have two open ears for him so um when it comes to the game um obviously being on the field and off the field how we how he conducts himself and how he take care of his body and move forward with the game he has a lot of nuggets to give out and all year long I'm here for it what you learned about What he learned from Clowney him that you didn't know coming in say it again what what have you learned about Clowney that you didn't know coming in um I've been on Clowny for for quite a bit time so I I can't say that it's anything unfamiliar that I I I know of him starting now but um obviously getting a chance to be around him a lot more often being in the building um once again just the how he the attention to detail off the field and on the field he has um just the way um I I I take notes and I appreciate being being a chance to be around him for sure He takes lunchtime serious he takes that L serious say it again he takes that lunchtime serious yeah yeah most definitely uh his his body weight for sure he he don't play about it he got to make sure he's up to par do he Favorite spots got any favorite spots he's taking you to since he grew up near here say it again is he got favorite spots since he grew up near here favorite spots he's taking you to uh not change yeah obviously it's Camp time so um our time is pretty occupied here so I'm sure once the season start we'll get a chance to explore those thank you thanks by [Music]
