Star Wars Outlaws Playthrough & Initial Review

Intro [Music] welcome back to defy not definitive I'm Ken and I'm Bethany and we're just a couple of casual gamers in love that love doing some gameplay together yeah we do so this is Star Wars Outlaws and uh thank you so much Ubisoft for giving us an advanced copy of this so we can play it and uh share our review of the game um so if you want to see like our full game play then we're going to put a link Down Below in the description of this video also will pin a comment uh so you can check that out but uh this one that we're putting together now we'll just kind of do like you know the highlights and then like our thoughts on uh the game play um so yeah before it comes out just cuz I know some people like that really want to play it might not want spoilers and so that's what yeah if Underworld the Empire's Little Death Star gets blown to pieces and the law is distracted by a rebellion that won't quit it's an opportunity to make millions where this takes place but to my surprise one of you sends a spy into my own house ooh when I thought we all could share this this Feast enough SLO I didn't come all this way to listen to lies while your zeric bats skim off our spice [Music] this is going back very old school but there was like a computer game that was Star Wars that was like five different CDs and I remember how much I love that but like I really wanted just a full open world kind of Star Wars exploration experience and I was either not a proficient gamer enough to experience what that was in that game cuz it wasn't it wasn't like this but this is like what I always wanted as a Star Wars game as a kid like the female protagonist the cute cuddly little sidekick pet pet little guy and an open world to explore and like blasters and Speeders and and all that jazz so played some other Star Wars games in the past kind of looking for what I was I was hoping it would be without realizing it this is what I had in mind at that time and now they finally made it into a game we haven't even really explored like the open world aspect of it like you know we didn't play like the the betting game or anything um I wouldn't say we were like I mean totally Mission focused but I mean like that's the first part of the game kind of mainly makes you go through like the main mission I mean there were some couple times times you talk to some people and you pet you know obviously some random animals um they were cute I wanted to recruit them yeah I know you did uh and there's you know I mean games that we love I mean obviously Assassin's Creed there's obviously connection there with Ubisoft and everything um so it was fun having to be able to whistle in the murder Bush murder Bush and bring people over to you uh that was nice um the like Uncharted aspect of it of the yellow like being painted and like that's how you can like jump up and like grab onto things um and the hook like swinging over um which made me think of Uncharted as well uh not that it's not assassin's but yeah this made me think more of Uncharted um when I think about that I like the outlaw aspect of it obviously you know the crime syndicate things and everything and like we haven't really gotten into it yet but the first like opening part of it got me hooked got me invested I so I would did not did not like that there was fall damage I don't like that in the game but what was cool is that like the automatic heal so like after a while your character heals up and character heals up in combat as well which is helpful it's kind of like you know um like the Halo like Master Chief like your thing like your thing recharges as long as it doesn't get if you have like even just a little bit of a sliver left of that bar after a while it'll heal up as soon as like you kill all the enemies that uh in that like you know not that level necessarily but like in that area then you'll heal back up um so that aspect of it I really like again haven't gotten into like a lot of the open World stuff as far as like you know crafting different materials or uh you know going to the shops um we just got our our speeder um but like the the handholding that happens in a lot of games when you first start this did a good uh this was an effective job only thing I think like I don't I got to go back and check I don't know if it's said to like double tap the a to get ncks to go to go do something so that's something it's like okay like you know I mean didn't take us that long but it took us a little bit longer it's like like a little bit frustrating like okay well what's what's going on why why doesn't this work yeah I think and this might be a reflection of me as a gamer but like I don't assume double tap yeah like it's not it's not a part of what I I default to to try yeah so I did press and I did hold and neither of those worked and then I think it was just it was the element of me being a button Smasher that I was like something's going to work um and that's how I wound up finding the double tap but there are tutorials I saw on the menu that we never checked out we're true we're not piig tutorials we like just Dive In which in part is why I think it was helpful to be Mission focused in terms of this first chapter of our gameplay because it did help us get our bearings a little bit cuz once we were we're confident in the gameplay then we can go back and like bet and you know yeah be a little bit more Hands-On with the open world side yeah I'm looking forward to seeing like the open world side of this and like the different aspects of it I mean when we were seeing the different gameplay it was like you can go and you can learn abilities uh through people like kind of build your character up that way um so yeah I'm looking forward to the to the nerd stuff as as I to say yeah and I'm looking forward to Flying a spaceship yes we we did the speeder I've used a blaster I got to pet animals you fle you flew ship for a little while you crash a little bit into the yeah see that's not satisfying to me I need to like get better at flying a ship so I can say that I flew a spaceship I can't say that on this gameplay you're looking for a way in with the To Bribe or Not To Bribe Pikes you want to make gorak Pike under boss I got a VIP invite to his private Suite sure you do only way to get up there you interested how much [Music] deal no I'm good suit gorak cut political they pay up to play favorites with the Empire then Crimson Dawn M hungry for gorak's Kingdom crafty sneaky unlike the huts with them what you see is what you get take that out here you live High by your reputation that said a friend needs a little something stolen from gorak's private base some information he'd hate to get out and who's hiring me to steal from the top Syndicate in town sorry kid interrupt that's all what you get in tell your client KES is in cute desperate but [Music] cute underworld welcome to the underworld a good reputation opens doors to rewards and opportunities while a bad reputation closes them pleasing a Syndicate will often anger another sful K's reputation to fluctuate when you switch Partnerships performing jobs for a Syndicate helps K get in their good books loyalties change betrayals are inevitable and a resourceful Outlaw must know how to play the underworld to their advantage sweet okay okay pour the Pikes pour the Crimson Dawn and pour the Hut oh because none of them know us yet yeah that's so poor is just like neutral territory though okay right The Stealth Struggle is Real [Music] think you want go down the stairs she said did stealth you did a really good job with the stealth I yeah kind of the same thing with like alien isolation I don't like I mean there was a long time before that checkpoint happened so like to do that stealth one like to have stealth be mandatory and like you said that you can't fight at any point it can can get frustrating especially if you're not like good at stealth um especially if like you get caught and you're dead yeah that can be uh that can be frustrating and like to restart the mission over and over again to have to pick up uh the same stuff that you had picked up before um at least like in Uncharted when you die or whatever like stuff that you picked up it's like you already have it again yeah um it's true you be definit don't think it was like a a key item or whatever but like stuff that you're going to sell anyways that'd be cool like just to have it uh there and you would have to like don't have to go back and repeat the same thing um that would like save a little bit of time there um and make not not make it less frustrating if you like do screw up on those on those stealth missions I will say though for like an immersive experience though it is really successful like as I play I'm very much like oh I've gotta make sure that I don't like get caught and you know um kind of like worried about Nicks making sure I pet Nicks and like if he feels okay it's like it they do a good job with the immersion of it cuz you do feel very much like you are suddenly in the Star Wars world and you have to you know do missions to overthrow the Empire let us know thoughts on uh on how things played so far and um really loving it and there's a lot of great things about it uh you know the things that were were nitpicky or whatever or or whatnot um just wanted to you know obviously give like an honest review like on certain things that like may be frustrating for for certain uh for certain people that you know play the game I will say that it's like I think I feel like it's very accessible game you don't have to be a great gamer we are not playing this on easy we're playing this just on the normal default settings and I feel like it is challenging in Parts obviously like with the with the stealth and whatnot like we've died a couple times we had to like I don't know if we've died actually I think we've just been caught a couple times we've had to like restart I thinked well died like on swinging but not like in a b or whatever we haven't died yet uh so yeah I'm like I'm just looking forward to like seeing like what the different upgrades are and whatnot I'm also very curious because um obviously there was I mean this is a game that's been out for a while but I still don't want to do spoilers but there was a uh key character that comes in at the end of Jedi fall in order yeah and given the time in which this game takes place I am very curious if we're going to meet some of our main characters from Star Wars um um and if we do who they are like I'm I'm very intrigued yeah that'd be cool let us know what you thought about this and thanks so much for seeing our gameplay for Star Wars Outlaws would you keep mind that our re that our
