all right there's those folks let's get Facebook in here and get the spinning wheels going Spinning Wheel still one and two all right welcome in welcome in it is Wednesday morning we're already week in to August and it's time for an episode of Broncos for breakfast I am Nick Kendall and joined by Scott Kennedy Scott Happy uh belated birthday to your your boy Sean how old did he turn uh yesterday 15 y 15 and uh he's exhausted because he's in the middle of football practice and he got home at 8:30 last night and I took him there and dropped him off at 5:45 this morning God bless man I mean he doesn't know how hard it is to you know wake up every morning at uh 5 for podcasts but uh you know he's he's learning a little bit out there no uh yeah hopefully you can do something fun for him this weekend obviously but uh well they're my daughter's birthdays they're they're a week of part so hers is T hers is Tuesday she I used to joke I'm like evidently I'm home a lot around Thanksgiving or so I think August is the most people are born on August uh in the world it's the highest birth month so uh I'll I'll make no uh turkey stuffing jokes here but uh that's a uh happy holidays everyone as we really kick it off here going to talk a little bit of bronos dep chart obviously you guys drive the conversation as much as anything uh if if you got super chats comments uh we always appreciate that and with real football coming I know that we're going to have a lot to talk about and uh really dig into here so excited it's August football is I mean it's here we've already had the preseason game even though it's cut short right by a weather event uh but a lot of story lines a lot of fun and we get our first official depth chart as well that we're gonna get into today unofficial okay first anything it's I mean okay it's unofficial what does that even mean Scott I'm sorry to get into it but like it's obviously it means the league mandates you do it we did it yeah so if it comes from in spots there's a little bit more to it than that I think it means more for the veterans um but you know we can get into the the the rookies and you know Monica comes in good morning Monica she says uh hey Scott Nick and Scott it's a preseason depth chart and I think Sean is making the rookies climb to earn their spots what are your thoughts we'll just you know you just asked so we'll get into this Monica right here just roll your question right into it just about every NFL team puts a rookies last to start because they don't want to put out a depth chart you know sean Shawn pyton was the most honest about it he's like well why did he do that he says so I only have to spend five minutes with Patrick Smite the communications coordinator instead of 45 minutes that's why you know so watch what they do but yeah they always have to earn their spots you know for the most part you know you get some anointing in preseason Caleb Williams Caleb Williams is going to be our starting quarterback with a number one overall when you just traded away your starter for a single position like like quarterback that happens but uh yeah they're they're going to have to earn it but where are they taking their reps and practices that's what really matters you know where do you see them are they running with the twos because they'll keep they'll keep ones and twos a lot of times on one field and threes and fours on the other you know so where where are they practicing who are they practicing with that's what matters more than what we see on paper right now yeah absolutely and we're going to have a chance to judge it with our own eyes uh fortunately as well with preseason so excited to see what happens but yesterday you know Denver's de releases their first unofficial depth chart I mean I would if it comes from the team I would call it official with the caveat that obviously it's going to change uh but uh whatever it's kind of like what is what is the thing we always get upset about Scott some of the language uh that they have to use for designating these guys I don't know it's it's all jargon uh but it's from the team we see all the rookies listed versus inactive pup and I looked it I have to look it up every time to see okay if you do this you're allowed to do this but if you do that you're not allowed to do this and and the reason why they're so crazy about those things is because someone somewhere has exploited some loophole that they've had to close yeah it's I mean everybody's looking for an edge right Scott and that's uh it's one kind of way that a lot of people are doing it but uh the first unofficial official depth chart rookies listed third string fourth string this is apparently a classic Shawn pton thing that a lot of coaches do but it's kind of the bill parcel's old school stuff rookies have to earn it it's unofficial uh Sean even said uh when he was in his press conference that uh if he was ready to put a dep chart he says no I'm not ready for a depth chart but I have to get out get out a depth chart it's easy to push the underlying players to the back of the line and then make sure it's kind of where we sit right now that's really it no it's a good question I'm not trying to send messages at all so it they kind of listing and you mentioned the veterans there is some interesting stuff here or there that we can get into uh but as far as bonick being listed third doesn't mean one bit and Scott you gave a good example last season as well with the Falcons um where ban Robinson listed Bon Robinson was listed fourth last year I mean that that's that's how much it means for the r the rookies are last you know with with exceptions you know what about I'm not playing what about rookies are last ban Robinson was listed fourth on the dep ch on the first sub charts Atlanta Falcons released last year and everybody and their brother knew that he was going to get the most touches this season so want to come back I want to reach back to Monday we were talking about you know starting quarterbacks and then Troy we see you right there I'm going to roll into into your question too so appreciate you and being patient talked about if B Knicks doesn't start week one I'll be disappointed week two I'll be really I'll start you know we we'll start asking some serious questions if it's if he's not stting starting by week two that said I fully expect and expected Jarrett stum to start on Sunday first preseason game yeah I do as well uh just kind of again ceremonial he's been here the longest he is the incumbent right uh so he should get the first chance there my one the one thing that makes my tail bushy a little bit about that in a negative way you know like hair stand up is that I don't trust the second and third string offensive line uh and putting B Knicks uh back there I think we're going to see overreactions probably and it might look a little bit discombobulated because just where the Broncos their lack of picks money etc etc I mean you go through the depth chart and you look at the second string offensive line and it's you know but I leave me SC I I know these guys but like leaving me scratch in my head you know Matt perrot Calvin throck Morton Alex recognize two three of the five names between Matt per Calvin th Morton first time I heard about him was I think uh was it Ry asked yesterday or Phil Phil asked yesterday and and I was like wait who Alex forsight we know listed second will Sherman the sherminator because we've called him the sherminator a few times and then Alex peski but how many starts are there between those guys how many liveaction game Snaps are there between those guys I mean not a lot I think par started some with the Giants and was not good uh but other than that I mean it's it's a Broncos second string offensive line hopefully you never need to see it uh but it's one of those ones what was the game was it last season or two years ago where the horrific Arizona Cardinals just absolutely teed off on I think it was Jarrett didum uh out there starting and it's like well this see this says more about the offens I don't even know what he's supposed to do right he's hitting the back of his drop and immediately somebody's in his face so that's my one concern here about starting stum is protecting B Knicks to a certain extent uh because I don't trust the Broncos second string offensive line and also we talked about this earlier this morning Scott but the the difference between Talent levels of the first string and first first string offensive line first string defensive line like that's typically pretty evenly matched but then you get to the second string offensive line and the second string defense and like the second string defense those guys get snaps those guys are playing I mean they get paid they're they're valuable second string offensive line You Know cover your eyes so there's a huge Talent discrepancy depth is typically about injury in the NFL except defensive line those guys play um and there was a conversation about how much this defensive line is improved and it's like well and and Chad was on was on the mile high huddle on Monday or or Sunday or Monday talking about we didn't expect him to be this bad because you know DJ Jones is good you put a bunch of money into Zack Ellen how it started I'm like yeah but you started the season with with Jonathan Harris if Jonathan Harris is starting he's not a starting caliber player I'm not sure he's a backup level player to be honest with you and that means four of my six defensive linemen that I'm going to be rotating in aren't NFL caliber players if I've got Jonathan Harris starting so you know no offense I know I I I hate dogging on him but that's and we can kind of roll that into Troy's question right here about what are you looking for what are you looking for when you're watching these things and you know it was two years ago who they who' they play in one of the the bully teams and it was Jonathan Harris out there and that was it mctelvin aim were just on skates yeah uh and in Nathaniel hackets so I was like oh my God I don't want to see these guys play at all ever again and then Jonathan Harris a year later is your starter I'm like oh no because Troy asks and appreciate you Troy thank you for coming in and breaking the ice with the Super Chat says hey guys what do you look for when watching preseason games that it's different than regular season how do you assess position battles it's a good question you're looking for one-on-ones as much as you can so guys winning their individual one-on-one matchups because you're going to get a lot more vanilla schemes and play calls you're not going to show Too Much especially on the coverage and exotic pass rush I mean that's one reason that was pretty shocking a couple years ago to see the uh when was last year I guess the card Cardinals Blitz as much as they did because you don't typically see that level of aggression in preseason it's more just about the fundamentals a lot of times you know that obvious it can change team to team uh but we're looking for the individual battles are guys winning their matchups are guys getting open versus the overall uh output of the offense and defense in general uh as far as uh what do you uh assess I want to read the other way uh know how do you your asses in there well you put your butt in the seat I'm not going to do anything with my ass in position battles that's that sounds like a losing battle uh but uh I looking for just the snap uh distribution here who's getting the first crack uh are they trying to highlight anybody I really talking asses here uh making one of ourselves yep but uh the just seeing like where the snap distribution goes I'm looking at snaps and where guys are utilized more so than I am the actual depth chart that's been released so far yeah and a lot of times in preseason these days you learn more by who's not playing than who actually is playing It's like because they don't they don't play the starters a ton anymore if at all um so you're looking at you're battling at the back end of the roster and like who's actually gonna make the team um and and Troy I've said this before it feels to me like you know as I learn more and more about you know the NFL and how it works covering this again for years and years most of these decisions are made they're already made they're they're already made based on contractual obligations res ources allocated to him via draft picks etc etc that there's just not that many position battles for roster spots on the field there might be five that aren't already decided coming into Camp the these these teams are already built and you're signing these other 35 guys as depth and in in in workouts because you do have four sets of teams out there you go you go 90 guys so you've got four full teams uh 11 11 going out there so what am I looking for I'm looking for SNAP distribution I'm looking for competency and then again as Nick said the best thing to do is look at the one-on ones because stats don't matter oh man they're more they're they're meaningless anyway but it's like you know oh he led the team in tackles and the preseason he was cut he led the team in rushing in the preseason he was cut um they just they just don't matter yeah especially because so fluky it's weird it's not uh the sample size is Tiny I wouldn't read too much into you know your leading passer in preseason or anything like that or the number one uh I mean I don't know Scott it would be interesting because last year we did see the Broncos from what I recall play a good bit of the offensive line and starters like early on versus the Nathaniel Hackett where like nobody played I think pton does have a little bit more of the old school uh mentality of getting guys out there especially that there's only three preseason games uh but we'll see how that changes without a doubt but I did want to thank Troy for the generous uh $20 Super Chat kicking us off here here uh hope you're doing well Troy and uh really do appreciate you coming in also appreciate Brandon Williams coming in with the support a cute pick of you and the kid there Brandon hope you're doing well hope fatherhood's treating you well and hey man August is uh going by fast right so it'll be school again soon so enjoy those moments says good morning guys can't wait for Sunday hope Nick gets hope Nicks gets some time with the ones I don't really care as much Scott about the ones as far as The Playmakers go the skill guys I hope he gets some reps behind the first team offensive line uh but again I'm I don't want to beat a dead horse Nick's concerned about the backup depth of the offensive line okay I said it duh uh but we'll see I'd like to see him behind that first team offensive line yeah me too um again how much do the starters end up playing the ones are gonna how much how how much do you plan on seeing courland Sutton you know this preseason five snaps 10 snaps you're not going to see a ton of those guys um how much you plan on seeing Greg doul in the preseason I I I don't know if I'm gonna see him at all right I think he's a ghost right he's he's a mythological beast at this point you know they talk about him in training camp or whatever every year and then unfortunately has a hamstring issue so he's very much one I won't be Bamboozled by a KJ hamler esque player again yeah the the call Kings of spring you know that's what the that's what August is so Brandon thank you for the Stars appreciate you coming in and and Jeremy has a good question because this is this is what I said uh earlier Jeremy when when we were doing the mile huddle and I was behind the behind the scenes who has a better chance of starting week two uh STM or Justin Fields because I I think I I don't remember who it was but someone made a joke says you know watch Russell Wilson and who else was was cut released recently them being number one and number two in MVP voting I'm like you got a better chance of Russell Wilson not playing week seven than than being MVP what are the odds of him finishing the season as the starter um and we'll see you know we'll see I I'm fascinated with the Steelers now they're talking about Brandon iuk I'm fascinated to watch the Steelers this year between all the ties between Nick and I doing Broncos and Falcon shows and all the ties with the Steelers and we we like Mike Tomlin and how they play the G how he plays the game anyway that I'm I'm fascinated but I don't want to see Jarrett St him behind Center on week two I don't really want to see him on week one that would just see I want to we all want to see B Knicks no offense Jarett did him but we all want to see B knck that's not a hot take we want to see him get him out there and uh and grow get him get him out there and grow you what do you afraid of what what are you afraid of if usually like I said you don't want him to play if you're afraid you're going to get him Shell Shocked because you're you're usually drafted as a first round quarterback on a crap team and your offensive Line's a shambles this is a lot of resources put into this offensive line Nick yeah the starters at least not really highly drafted uh developed guys you haven't had a plethora of picks to do that uh but the first team offensive line I mean I'd have to go through but they have to be the most expensive offensive line starters in the NFL if definitely not top five uh so the depth we'll see uh but yeah I hope you get him out there um Troy asks also Nick how's the little guy doing these days we're just getting over covid so uh I think he slept a little better last night thank God I only had to wake up a few times um we got Eric Flynn coming in with the support good to see you Eric appreciate you coming in hope you're doing well happy Wednesday to you uh Jon asks about uh hopefully we can get Justin Simmons back since Kaden Sterns has gone I think the Simmons boat has sailed he's visiting the Saints today with news there so uh we'll see what happens but I don't think I don't see Simmons coming back he's a Bronco though I mean he'll you know I don't know if they'll retire his jersey number put him in the ring of Fame even though he was pretty phenomenal just not enough team success potentially during that time period but heck of a player um and uh still really support him Michael comes in says good morning Nick and Scott on Broncos for breakfast go Broncos go Michael appreciate you happy uh he say 20 year anniversary 30 year anniversary yeah 20 was it this week 20th 20th year with Walmart that's awesome man congrats test sounds like they've been taking care of you and I know you've been you as loyal as you are to us I know you're a loyal employee too yeah absolutely thank you so much Michael appreciate you David junkins in the house great to see a Roy Osborne Greg Smith Pearl heater great to see you as well all these people coming in and uh M High salute says my my understanding as Russell Wilson struggling to get the offense to the Playbook down again this year uh we'll see what happens with Wilson I do think it was kind of funny that uh early on it was oh yeah Wilson no doubt you were just coming in fields maybe Fields will return kicks you know stupid talk like that just for silliness but now it's there seems to be some talk and I'm I'm not connected Russell Wilson was out for a few the first few practices with the with a tweaked hammy too yeah or whatever it was but he he sat out the first two and and Justin is a talented dude I'm curious if the the call is coming from inside the house that's the one where things could get interesting and by from what I have heard Justin's a little bit more of a uh a dude as far as relatability in the locker room where Wilson's kind of just like not a bad guy by any means but it's just sometimes it's like huh that interaction felt weird uh Broncos Country kind of knows that too so that's uh we'll see what happens there maybe there'll be some disc uh disc Mal content out there but we'll follow it Monica says I'm gonna hand this one off to you Nick from Monica so and then I'll I'll weigh into uh Nick and Scott going into the regular season how do you see the running back room going like do you see uh Samar perine as the number two guy yeah I mean he's got a chance obviously he's older and you can save some money from him but he was he's your number two returning receiver on this team right now and he's a he's an absolute guy in pass protection back there which you have to have trusting your running back in blocking schemes nowadays if it's any close at all you know Jal mclin's got a little bit more explosiveness and playmaking ability it sounds like estim has been a good pass catcher in Camp as well and listed back of the depth chart does that matter we'll follow the snap distribution uh but I do think that we might be under selling to at least some extent how important perine is in terms of third down pass protection when you have a rookie quarterback uh like bonck you don't keep five running backs though right and you got six on the depth chart right now I think javante is a clear number one for me uh saman you wanted to save money on them you probably would have done it already he's not that expensive does he make the team on his own right I mean he's probably the best all around running back when you think of the passing game as well um then you talk you know Jal mcgoffin Tyler batty I think Bailey's probably on the outside looking in Batty's on the outside looking in Blake Watson and audri ese I feel like ese is safe with the draft status so is it Blake Watson or Jalil McGlothlin and you're hoping that you're able to keep uh the one that you don't keep you're able to resign him to the practice squad that's probably the move unfortunately Scott we have three pre season games to go and the running back is a position that very uh injury-prone they take some serious hits so it might just sort itself out right in the end you know knock on W but uh we'll see like I'll be kind of like that with the injuries until the dust settles then we'll go from there but it might solve itself uh in the end but P Ryan I mean again i' it's not sexy by any means but a running back being able to take a free rusher and being trusted in the blocking scheme is a must uh in today's NFL with how much teams are isolating pass rushers so per ry's the best there of any of the Broncos running back maybe that is enough to keep him in but he's definitely in a battle right now to keep a spot yeah so it' be one of those three right and then if if pery gets released If he if he's they move on from him he definitely wouldn't be back on the practice squad he' get he'd get picked up by somebody else yeah and one thing I will say also when we're factoring into the roster math is that this is a Broncos team that's going to be keeping a fullback right so that's also kind of Michael Burton uh special teams guy that does factor into the backs as well so you keeping go ahead the Broncos have a really cool streak with undrafted free agents and someone asked yesterday I didn't see it get answered so I want to ask you do is this the season they break the streak of not signing an undrafted free agent to the 53 or would it be Blake Watson because I don't know that there's a ton of other candidates this year are there undrafted free agent rookies I would think it's Blake and who if it's not Blake that's a really good question the spot on the roster that stands out to me is uh linebacker right just for like special teams purposes uh maybe you see somebody step up there uh because I mean do you trust Spartan Griffith's never been able to stay healthy str's kind of you know been Wayward kind of guy on the roster for a bit second St maybe you'll see a linebacker get a chance there maybe even somebody they bring in later but um we'll see it feels like it's Blake Watson or a streak Buster doesn't it it does feel like that way on the roster but that's going to change a lot once we watch start watching preseason right this is wasn't this year he was he was previously so if I'm assuming it's like you're only talking rookies you don't get to count them multiple times it's like oh we we signed this guy as an undrafted pre agent he's been here 10 years so we've signed an drafted free agent 10 years in a row that's that's not what we're counting here uh and jb3 degrees says wasn't that streak broken a couple years ago maybe maybe it was um I just heard someone say it as fact and just kind of believed it um and I've seen it in the years that I've been doing this my fourth season with the Broncos fourth season with y'all U there's been someone every year so uh again the running back battle because we talk about rotation a lot of times you know I don't learn maybe 9 10 11 12 names of the offensive lineman down the line because I know I'm not going to have to running backs we'll see three or four running backs this year yeah I we'll definitely three or four running back so good shot by Jeremy Omar uh Brown chance as well safety and linebacker those special team spots I feel like you have a chance there uh for the Broncos um I think back in rookie training camp there was some talk about level Bailey uh out there from Fresno State uh they just brought back Alec mock from Air Force and so we're kind of I think safety and linebackers is the other spot where you could see somebody in the undrafted free agent side uh still make the roster uh be uh be interesting one to watch but yeah the running back room is interesting and then for the the game on Sunday how do I I have to watch last you know what's fun is playing first winning and then watching everybody else play and lose it's it's so awesome playing Thursday night and getting a win and just chilling for the rest of the weekend is awesome playing last kind of sucks y I don't want to play last uh but I am looking forward to Sunday and I'm looking forward to again you've got I don't want to say a quarterback battle but you've got quarterback Intrigue at least that you've got three guys and then you've got depth at wide receiver of several guys trying to win a job that it will make the passing game interesting throughout the course of the the preseason game rather than just okay these are the guys who are getting cut in two weeks that are playing the second half yeah and I don't also you mentioned earlier the stats don't really matter in a one game sample size playing third string defensive backs you might see something like I don't know David Sills or Michael Bandy go off you know for four catches and 70 yards it's like oh that guy has to make the roster even though he's not been doing anything in Camp or Albert bam yeah that thing as well so I wouldn't uh get too high or too low in the preseason again we're looking for the individual matchups out there versus the statistical output for a low uh low volume uh but we'll see so things that are interesting to me on the depth chart Scott uh seen Tim Patrick listed as a starting wide receiver obviously the talk all offseason has been about Mims needing to step up but we got Patrick who hasn't played football in two years over Mims uh and also Patrick over Reynolds as well so shout out to Tim Patrick uh always been a big fan of him he's another one where it hasn't been like the nagging like hamstring stuff it's been just really unfortunate injuries I don't know if I love seeing him as the wide receiver too but like any of those guys listed I guess I'd be happy if like Mims had like really stepped up and like oh he's killing it he's definitely gonna be the wide receiver too but happy for Patrick uh no doubt and hoping that he can get healthy and return to the form he had during the the Teddy Bridgewater uh season because he was pretty he can if he's 100% he's a really really good number two wide receiver which then makes Josh Reynolds a really good number three and then Mims is gravy we talk about again all of these questions well you have multiple answers at wide receivers so you don't necessarily need a yes for every single question at wide receiver meaning uh does someone step up at as the number two uh safety position is Brandon Jones gonna be able to fill um Justin Simmons shoes can Ben Powers step up as Mike mcclin said all these questions you have you don't you're not going to get a yes on all of them but at wide receiver you don't need a yes on all of them you can get a yes on some of them and have plenty of guys does Marvin MIM step up well if that's a no well maybe the answer is yes on Tim Patrick and if Tim Patrick's a number two then you don't need anything you get from Marvin Ms end up just being gravy so again multiple options are a good thing and we know that Tim Patrick is good you know we don't necessarily know like I've got croll in my head now who's the tight end is Lucas croll yeah okay then crumb is the other one I have in my head I'm GNA get those guys confused all the time too you know we don't know what the ceiling is for Lucas coll we don't know he's been in the league three years he's got like 40 yards we don't know we know Tim Patrick's good player we we know he is when he's 100% he's a really good player so I like having options we have questions everywhere but I like also knowing the answer is a high ceiling type of thing you know you know what I mean like at running back I'm like okay if Davonte doesn't step up how good can this running back room really be we don't we don't know we don't have uh somebody is coming back from an injury and being spectacular or H you know there's we there's just so many unknown there we know Tim Patrick is good yep the one thing again like pause with that is how many years did it take Sutton coming off and every guy's different but how many years did it take Sutton coming off injury to kind of regain his for two two and a half and now you have Patrick who hasn't played meaningful football in two off Seasons now and he's number one listed on the dep chart opposite Sutton again I'm not and it's not about the guy at all because he seems like a super humble hardworking Wells spoken like guy absolutely love Tim Patrick but like how could you not be skeptical of the room if he's listed as your number two does it actually mean a lot maybe maybe it does maybe it doesn't we'll see if Reynolds Mims and go those guys also play into it of course as well uh but I don't know uh we will we'll see that's one that kind of surprised me I would have guessed it would have been Reynolds just from what I've heard how consistent he's been in Camp now ideally he's you know your number three or four in a good room uh but we know he's a good number three we know it yes yes those are good answers to have yep yeah so and yeah Jeremy says please stop thinking the dep TR means anything I think it means something for the veterans the veterans I think it does a little bit too I I think it's significant that wattenberg is ahead of foresight I think that means something and I was going to say Shawn pton made a comment about that specifically that it does mean something and he even talked about it in the press conference about wat he was asked he was asked he doesn't offer anything up but he was asked and he says we could have gone or with that one but go ahead yeah he said that's right He's listed alone could have competition there we could have put or I look at that and we get the list together it's due today the word there is unofficial so it is unofficial but still he made the choice to not have wattenberg or foresy where he did or at multiple other spots so I mean you still made that choice right there's one there's a reason that he didn't list it there and he did other spots so I think there is a little bit of weight there with to be fair you know if you watch dubd deep divers on Friday nights Eric has been saying for weeks on end uh probably longer than that as fast as time flies when you get to be my age that it is wattenberg it's not foresight it's wattenberg y here we go so uh good call Eric yep but I do think it doesn't mean anything with the rookies I I think you can you can read into it a little bit with the with the veterans I am with you on that and getting to it the the spots where the Broncos have listed or on the Jeet chart not a lot of surprises across the board in the offensive line I mean we had Tim Patrick we already talked about that we have Troutman listed over doul not shocking they're also they're both tight ends but like troutman's your Y dolage is more of your F uh if you want to get into that you you know different different types of roles there for those uh body types and skill sets but on the defense again how much does it matter I don't know we'll see but I do think it was interesting at least that you had an or with Jonas Griffith or Cody Barton as well as deari matys or Riley moss and the one that really stands out it's the Demari matys or Riley Moss for me because everything I've heard it's a Levi Wallace versus Moss battle with matthysse struggling uh so to see Wallace definitively string with moss or matthysse that obviously can change I think there's still very much a battle there with all those guys but still interesting yeah and I wonder if a little bit of that is uh you know Wallace missed a day or two I think he uh he was battling a little bit of a hamstring twe tweak as well shouldn't be shouldn't be too much of a concern though um but we know again that that that one doesn't worry me I don't worry too much about what shows up at corner because you're if you can play You're going to play you you can end up playing five or six corners in the course of a game you'll see time out there for sure you'll get your chances like oh I'm second team you know if you're second team Center you you might not see the field all year if you're defensive back defensive line You're Gonna Play You'll a cornerback you'll get time because you'll you'll run packages where there's six seven defensive backs on the field at one time yeah uh the other spot where it's or and it's I think it's interesting uh Scott the punter Riley Dixon or Trenton Gill uh we'll see what happens there but we do have we do have a now we're getting into it now it's the good stuff I mean the punter or wow yeah I mean it's uh I'm teasing I'm teasing it'll be interesting but I mean Dixon has a pretty big cap hit maybe that's an area where they save a little money but we do have a puncher battle still and being an Iowa Hawkeye fan I have nothing but to stand uh punting games so hopefully uh we see good punting this season Dixon was a little bit hit or miss last year and we'll see what happens uh with that but there's another ore on there punters are people too as Tim dur says and we got it's not football players oio comes in and says thanks to y'all for making the offseason bearable greetings from Germany Guten or uh on Twitch yeah over there I don't know what how to say good night uh in Germany anlina right no it's knock knock music whatever's going on there no German nothing I can speak football with you that's about it Tim says punters are people too I uh I think it's funny yes they are they're just uh I wouldn't let my my son was a goalkeeper when he went out for he left soccer to go play football I wouldn't let him kick like that's they if they find out you can kick that's all they're gonna have you do I wouldn't let him kick I didn't mind him punting actually Ping's better than Place kicking G knock there we go see I knew knocked was in there uh but appreciate appreciate you guys uh we're going to start to wrap it on up here um because you know we talk from boss man got to keep it you know a little bit more Consolidated so if you guys have any questions or anything make sure you get it in but Scott any uh any final thoughts as we start to wrap up the show I mean we talked about the cornerback battle just looking at the depth chart I mean I think it's not super exciting for the defensive side of the ball I do think that the defensive line is definitely better when you toss in a John Franklin Myers into the unit hopefully DJ Jones can rebound I don't know about the depth there just yet but we're going to have a chance to see uh because you talk about evaluating the one-on-ones offensive and defensive line you're going to get a chance in preseason to see who can hang and who can't well and the the again the my final thoughts is the next time we talk we get to overreact to what we saw on Sunday it's the season for overreaction uh NFL's not quite as bad as College because the first preseason games don't count um but the week one is just awful overreactions and Indianapolis Colts defensive line is pretty salty it's it's pretty good there's some there's some guys on that they go too deep over there I won't expect to see Anthony Richardson so we do we see Joe flacko you know who's number three coming in for them uh I don't expect second year of a system lot of veterans out there I don't know how many of their Stars we're going to see I don't I I wouldn't want to see Michael Pitman I don't want to see Anthony Richardson I know he needs the time but if if he's 100% yeah okay maybe um but the man only finished one of the four games he played last year I don't want him play in preseason so uh but we are playing the Colts on Sunday and when we talk again we we get to overreact to what we saw on Sunday I'm I'm excited about that yeah it should be fun and we're gonna get a chance to see some of those guys and really start to find out about the second and third string with our own eyeballs it's a good measuring stick to a certain extent as much as preseason can be because the Colts are a playoff cusp team are you yep because the Colts are right there they're in nine and eight should be a little bit better they're looking nine and eight 10 and seven they're they should be considered one of those teams battling for the back end of a playoffs well they could win the division actually dep the Bengals do I mean they they were in it last year till the very end wrong division there though wrong division yep Jags this the Jags Bengals Texans are probably the heavy favorite and then you also have the Titans who are not gonna be probably pretty Titans Okay but that was it was a three- team Race all the way down to the the last to the wire last year not Bengals um I got my cats mixed up Bengal tigers and jaguars but uh I think it's a good it's a decent measuring stick for depth to a certain extent because you know what would we see remember was it the bills you know didn't didn't the Broncos play the bills and we were like maybe that was a team that bullied him so bad we were like I don't want to see Jonathan Harris we mentioned that earlier right yeah I was like okay I'm going to be scouting their waiver wire because they went 10 Deep at defensive line you know so it'll be a decent measuring stick when you when you're going uh for depth at least when twos are on twos yeah it'll be interesting to see what happens uh with those units and yeah coming back I wouldn't expect to see him this week um he the the other Ugly Truth and he's got some time the ugly truth about aazar was he wasn't good when he played so you know can you throw him right in there and what can you expect he's a big body he's a big athletic body I wish someone would have made him an offensive tackle when he was 16 years old but he wasn't good and now he's been away from the game for a year so I think I think aazar has got a long way to go yeah luckily you still have three years of contractual control with him uh so there's no reason to rush him uh by any means so we'll see what happens but thank you guys so much for joining us today hanging out talking ball the next time we see we'll have more actual football to overreact to so that'll be fun um the the waiting is over we can actually go through and analyze some stuff that's not just you know through the grape vine hearsay re reaction to what other people are talking about it's going to be original Scott and Nick thoughts God man good luck to everyone else out there our partners have to deal with that enough uh ronio great show today Nick and Scott on Broncos for breakfast go Broncos thank you so much Michael uh hope you're doing well again congrats on your work anniversary there like the channel and uh shareing your social media platforms we'll be live again on Monday and uh reaction to the the Broncos playing football so that'll be fun it's all I got I'm ready ready for some football I feel like it should be Thursday already I'm like we got games tonight no tomorrow though tomorrow and I think there's more than one to choose from so you at least go back and forth because one game you get all excited for it you're like commercial commercial commercial review commercial ah I'm losing my mind all right I'm gonna watch Arrow again I mean you know what always drives me nuts about these preseason games I mean I know it's there's not a lot of guys that they the announcers they do the best they can right with what they have but like I want to hear analysis of the game being broken down in the players I don't really care about you know the punter's third child being born with an interview on with him on the sideline for 20 minutes you know it's just like save that for good morning football or whatever the hell that is like let's talk about the actual product on the field but I'm I'm a grumpy old man you know yeah no I'm with you um till they make the team we really don't care for sure anyway yep has human interest stories on the sideline keep it you know between plays not during the play taking up most of the screen that just drives me nuts but that's right yeah go we do want to watch the game I know that's crazy yeah crazy but appreciate everyone have a great Yer day have a great AER week uh continue to choose kindness and compassion go Broncos
