before we get started folks we've got something to celebrate me and my main man as of today are celebrating our 10th year calling College football on Fox Sports a Whole Decade folks man I tell you I wouldn't want to do it with anybody else thank you for everything man listen you've taught me so much and and here's the 10 more right here we go and we got a great one to kick it off here in this season our 10th year you ready to run it back I'm ready you ready to keep two stepping with them I don't got rhythm but you've taught me this far so you'll teach me again all right boom here we go great game today folks we'll start with Penn State ranked eighth in the nation James Franklin has done a wonderful job at Penn State he's won 10 games five different times but he can't beat State and he can't beat Michigan lately so what did he do he went out changed everything up new OC new DC new special teams coordinator different kind of energy and atmosphere around the nney Lions yeah but the biggest question is the offensive coordinator new coordinator Andy C Nikki and and he's charged with revamping an offense that was good but it needs to be great to go up and beat the big dogs in college football and the key is taking Drew Aller from good to great he had he had really good numbers 29 total Downs two interceptions last year but can it be great can he go and beat the big dogs in the Big 10 that's the charge to do that you got to get the ball to your Playmakers we see that from every great team and in Penn State's case that's KRON Allen and Nicholas Singleton these backs I think form the best duo of running backs in the country now you could argue Ohio State's in there maybe even this West Virginia team but these guys are electric and they need the ball early in often all right for West Virginia Neil Brown their head coach he's a young guy 44 years old however last year he won nine games and they feel that this is the season where they as they bring back a number of veterans on both sides of the ball that they can punch through and get into the national picture and to do that what do you need experience G is in particular at the most important positions they've got that at quarterback Jarrett green this guy is I think one of the more underrated players in college football you talk about a quarterback that's got juice he's decisive he's an elite Runner he needs to get loose here today he ran for 700 yards in fact both running backs that they've got CJ Donaldson and Jem white they also ran for 700 yard a year ago it's the only team in college football that brings back three 700 yd rushers that's why they were the best rushing team in college football Gus we're going to see some Smashmouth football some of that read option from the quarterback early from West Virginia all right time now to join the third member of our team and you know who she is let's go downstairs to the All American Girl Jenny tab guys thank you well coach your offense is about to be out there I know the Run game is crucial to their identity how do you get that going early well we got to get him off of us first and so we got to be able to throw the ball effectively and we're going to trust our running game and we got a great quarterback we'll trust in him today there's been a lot of hype surrounding this season over in West Virginia look at this place how do you use it to your advantage well it's going to be fun we got to keep them in the game it's a great day for Morgantown great day for the state of West Virginia thank you enj all right Happy Valley pennstate leads at 49 to9 with two ties and the nney Lions have won five straight and eight of the last nine in last year's season opener at Penn State James Franklin and the nney Lions won it 38 to 15 and Drew Aller through for 3 25 three tugs in his first ever start however West Virginia has won two of the last five meetings here in morgant West Virginia won the toss and will they're one of the best in the country Abdul Carter folks watch him number 11 this guy on the edge he's moving from linebacker to defensive end very Micah Parson's es same number same uniform maybe the same Elite athleticism second down to nine to the 38 opening Series for West Virginia green hands it off CJ Donaldson this time CJ Junior out of Miami Florida he'll gain three you know a great match up for these third Downs all game long is going to be Wyatt milm the left tackle for West Virginia number 74 might maybe a first round Talent next year's draft against Carter number 11 I think one of the Premier pass rushers in college football also likely a first round draft pick next spring and on third down you've got to make sure that Garrett green stays upright and that charge is going to be to 74 why M third down at six at the 41 they need to go to the 46 for a first down green out of the shotgun drops it off on a screen it's caught but PID state right there Cole Taylor was open but he's shot down immediately by Tony Roos keep your eye on number 13 folks this kid is a ball he is and he's a special player due to his combination of size and speed Gus and you saw that speed close on that third down chopping down Cole Taylor and forcing this punting opportunity beautiful series here to open the season for the nitty Li Kaden Saunders is back deep for pen State Oliver straw gain five and Gus the man charged with this change is Andy codal Nikki the new offensive coordinator comes from Kansas and this is a guy that wants to be creative lots of shifts and movement giving the defense a lot of stress before the snap and then on top of that getting the main guys the ball the main Talent you're talking about Singleton Allen maybe Tyler Warren the the tight end as well second and five at the 23 and they'll give it to KRON Allen this time as he gets his feet going forward offensively let's take a look at the pen State Nittany Lions up front they're having to replace three draft picks including first-rounder Olu fashu at left tackle Drew Shelton slides over he's replacing Olu they do feel like he is a hell of a player over there at left tackle watch out for Harrison Wallace Trey Wallace they call him Trey is the guy that they're telling everybody about talking about he's going to be our number one guy our number one Target in particular down the field third down and three of the 25 opening Series Penn State Allen option pitches nicely done Singleton first down NY Lions defensively for the Mountaineers they return six starters and they also get healthy at the second level their defensive line is experienced and Veteran good size up front but then at the second level watch out for Josiah trod he's Jeremiah Trotter's son he was injured a year ago he comes back as a red shirt freshman they're expecting huge things out of number 40 Josiah trod and then in the back end Aubrey Burch he's their best player in the secondary and he's going to be charged with roaming the middle of the field a lot of transfers picked up in the portal first and 10 at the 33 a bobbled snap does West Virginia have it yes they do and we have our first turnover for the game with 1038 to play in the first quarter Mountaineers capitalizing on a mistake by Penn State Aller was not expecting that snap it goes right off off of his right knee and he was Furious about something I don't understand what he's upset about he's still yelling at the officials about something that was going on you can tell he was not ready for that snap that's a huge mistake got to credit the crowd here at West Virginia it is loud but see he is all over the officials right away screaming he is so upset about something that happened in the mechanics right before that snap so West Virginia now for their second series will start at the Penn State 28 yd line Gus I wonder if he felt like a defensive player was clapping or or instigated the snap something along those lines cuz he was so Furious right away when he jumped up not the way that this offense wanted to start and the officials will go over and take a look at this about something all I can assume is that something happened before the snap and then now we'll have to see if if the recovery was clean at the bottom of that pile so a lot to look at here all right we'd like to say and welcome our rules analysts Mike Pereira Mike P what do you think when you look at this yeah Gus if if something happened before the snap replay wouldn't be involved so it must be the recovery of the backward pass and you can actually see him fall on the ball but does he have really cuz you have control here you lose the ball so you don't see it so you can't tell tell at that point you know whether or not he had secure control of the ball or not so while they have their new replay Center all the different angles I'm I'm just not sure that you have the quarterback with the ball long enough to be considered a clear recovery but that's the decision that they have to make after further review the Willing on the field is confirmed first down so West Virginia will hold on to the football thank you Mike we talk to you later during The Telecast wow this is a huge break for West Virginia and now James Franklin's going to comper with the officials let's see what was going on so Aller is trying to get everyone set up and you can see right here he's not accept expecting the snap and then all of a sudden the ball is snapped right away there's nothing that the defense was doing I didn't see anybody bobbing their head or certainly not making that clapping motion he's saying there was a clap but that's certainly not the case based on the video that we just saw and now what a great chance here for West Virginia
