Zoey Felix some crimes are so vile it's hard to believe a human being was capable of it in the case of 5-year-old Zoe Felix her brutal rape and murder shocked the world but what was worse was that this little girl had been abandoned and tossed aside by those who were supposed to protect her little Zoe Felix was found in a field in Kansas raped and murdered just a few feet away from her lifeless body was her makeshift home a flimsy tent and ransacked campsite Zoe had been thrown out of her house at just 5 years old years before the incident Neighbors in the Topeka area tried to assist the little girl who came from a troubled background often times Zoe would report to them that there was no water at her home or that she wasn't being fed despite numerous calls to both police and state Social Services nothing was ever done and the little girl was left to fend for herself as the situation escalated neighbors began reporting the little girl wandering the streets not going to school and generally being left to her own devices a welfare check had been conducted as recently as September 2023 officials found there was no power on at the residence reportedly officials met the child who appeared to be in good spirits and then left her with her parents taking no further action it was soon after this visit that Zoe disappeared to everyone's understanding Zoe's mother had told everybody in the shared home to leave including the man thought to be Zoe's father and her sister less than a mile away the family members set up a makeshift campsite hidden beneath the trees it is unclear who found zoee or how her body was transported to the nearby Dylan's gas station but once police arrived just before 6:00 p.m. on that evening on October 2nd 2023 they found toeka fire department First Responders desperately trying to save the little girl's life she was pronounced dead shortly after due to the nature of the case and Zoe's age her cause of death was not revealed but less than 24 hours later police had their first suspect a man known to the family named ml W Cherry the 25-year-old was booked into Shaunie County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and rape reportedly Cherry was homeless but had lived with the family for some time either in the camp or in the shared home neighbors reported that they had seen him sometimes babysitting little Zoe while she played in parking lots while it's unclear his exact relationship to the family ml Cherry was known to Zoe and must have seemed like a figure that would do her no harm he was held at the county jail on a $2 million Bond if convicted he could face the death penalty Cherry had no known prior criminal convictions apart from a misdemeanor trespass and hadn't been reported to display any violent Behavior endangerment and neglect nothing was done to protect her the Kansas Department of Children and Family visited and investigated Felix's family more than a year before her death after Zoe's death there was a massive outcry for the details of the reports on the family to be made public nine reports were received with six more assigned for further investigation in September 2023 a apart from the welfare check police were also called in for two domestic disturbances all within 1 hour of each other as for agency documents they date back to September 2022 and state the reason for the investigation was poor conditions in the home and possible Dr use in the presence of a child when DCF conducted an investigation Zoe's mother was sent for a drug screening which came back negative allegedly she was also working with court services and the case was sub quently closed Zoe's mother had also previously been arrested for driving while Under the Influence with Zoey in the passenger seat later that same year following the incident Zoe was placed in police protective custody but was reunited with her family later that same evening DCF then conducted an interview with the man believed to be Zoe's father and found there were no causes for concern in terms of child safety the case was once again closed court records also showed that Zoe's mother had previously pleaded guilty to aggravated violence on a child born in 2018 with the initials ZF she was placed on supervised probation for a period of 18 months shortly after Zoe's death the Kansas DCF released the case summary for the little girl reporting that before her death there was evidence of sexual abuse and that despite offers of assistance the family declined any help from the agency or the state in May 2023 Child Protective Services received a report that the home Zoe was living in was unsuitable and the conditions were unlivable a check was conducted however findings determined that the utilities were working freezer in his home the gruesome Discovery matched Shannon's description including a scorpion tattoo genetic test confirmed that it was her though the cause of death couldn't be determined due to incomplete remains suspicion fell on the couple who own the house where the freezer was found they claimed the freezer belonged to their friend Anthony Gonzalez later revealed to be Arturo NOOA Shannon's ex-boyfriend investigations revealed that Novoa had asked Kenneth the house owner to store his freezer claiming a power outage Kenneth's wife Jill discovered the body fragment when she tried garbage bags before placing it in her vehicle's trunk they drove to Katrina's Shields Road apartment where aturo and his friend Andrew dismembered the corpse in the garage they removed Shannon's arms legs and head from her torso placing them separately in two storage totes and bins the bins were transported back to the Mahoning Avenue property sometime between March 1st and March 11th and placed in a freezer the couple's attempts to erase Shannon from existence didn't stop there in a horrifying twist Arturo and Katrina bought sulfuric acid under the Alias chicken man and used it to dissolve Shannon's torso and skull leaving only a portion of her skull intact this was an act so disturbing that it shocked even the seasoned Law Enforcement Officers as as if taken from a horror story The Duo burned Shannon's belongings in a large bonfire Arturo contacted a friend named Steve on March 1st 2017 and asked if he could have a bonfire at his Sherwood Avenue home he and Katrina brought Shannon's belongings including clothing papers hair and a bracelet with her name inscribed and burned them in the large bonfire the occupants went out to the area the following day since they were concerned after after seeing Arturo and Katrina removing things from bags and totes and putting them in the large fire they found the bracelet and dug the ashes out of the fire pit to put them into a laundry basket the discovery of these charred remnants by a concerned friend added a poignant and chilling detail to the investigation the police searched the Mahoning Avenue apartment to find a meat cleaver Blood on the walls and an owner's manual to the freezer in which the remains were discovered it was revealed by authorities that uro and Katrina were also using Shannon's phone and credit cards uro and Katrina were arrested on September 17th 2017 and charged with multiple offenses with the latter pleading guilty to tampering with evidence and obstruction during the investigation the detective secured the evidence from Steve while Andrew and his wife Michelle were also arrested the pursuit of Justice in this case was fraught with twist twists and turns Arturo initially charged with aggravated murder pled guilty to 47 other charges in a plea deal Katrina's cooperation with the investigation initially seen as a mitigating Factor was overshadowed by her continued deceit and contact been described as reserved and introverted but was generally considered Pleasant by all those who knew him he grew up surrounded by nature in a small Northbend town like most of the men he grew up with Peter settled down got married and had a child Peter married the equally unassuming Linate Keller and the pair had had a daughter named Kalen the family had an ordinary life by all accounts residing in a typical Suburban home with few reports of conflicts or hostilities little did their friends and family know that something in Peter Keller was brewing beneath the surface and it was entirely deadly Peter began with drawing socially becoming more and more preoccupied with survivalist tactics and theories he was also leading a double life while seemingly normal on the outside Peter Keller was harboring a dark fear of an impending doom an apocalypse that no one would be prepared for except him in the months leading up to the murder of his wife and daughter Peter Keller religiously vlogged about his plans as he built his survival bunker he would allude to the murders as something he wasn't looking forward to but something that he also didn't even question anymore in his video he claimed he was under no Illusions as to what could happen to him if the police caught on stating that although he had an Escape Plan his last resort was to kill himself and that he didn't know if he would be dead within the next 2 or 3 weeks he never exactly referred to The Reason as to why he would later commit his atrocious acts simply stating just The more I've thought about it the more I understand it I don't really feel bad about it it's just the way it is certain things happen that caused this to happen on April 22nd 2012 Keller methodically murdered 19-year-old Cen and his wife linity by shooting them both in the head with a silenced weapon he then set fire to their Northbend home to cover up the crime before fleeing to his bunker in the woods as authorities grappled with the aftermath and the community reeled from the loss the main focus was on the where whereabouts of Peter Keller it seemed he had vanished Into Thin Air a massive Manhunt was launched and the area and surrounds were methodically searched but Keller was well prepared and the forest served as a temporary respite from the clutches of Justice allowing him to remain hidden for some time but it wasn't long before authorities tracked him down in his remote location in Rattlesnake Ridge Keller had survived several days on the run but on April 28 it all came to an end investigators triangulated a rough area based on photos found in the Keller home as well as tips from residents who had spotted Keller's red pickup truck in the area experienced trackers were assembled who noticed freshly made tracks in the woods which appeared to be made by someone wearing a heavy backpack as authorities circled the area the smell of wood was wafting out of a heavily camouflaged structure within the area the bunker had several entrances and ladders and appeared that it could potentially also be booby trapped SWAT teams surrounded the bunker trying to force Peter Keller to come out there was no way of safely entering the bunker without possibly being injured or killed by Keller or his traps the standoff lasted the night and despite using tear gas it was believed that the bunker was far too dense for Peter Keller to be affected much or that he was potentially wearing a gas mask sensing that escape was feudal and being fully surrounded Peter Keller found another way out he shot himself his body was recovered in the bunker along with his weapons and stockpiled food and supplies investigators discovered that not only had Keller taken photos of the bunker and recorded his plans years before the in incident occurred but he also had videos that documented his mindset at the time he meticulously prepared and planned right up until the very end never abjectly stating what it was he was running from by all accounts it seemed to be the delusional unraveling of a troubled and paranoid man another disturbing Factor was that the entire time Keller had been providing insight into his dark Plans and intentions and yet nothing was done no one was warned and no one even suspected that such an atrocity was about to occur in one of his final videos Keller provided some clarity as to what was going on in his mind stating I'm getting to the point where just trying to live and pay bills and live as a civilian and go to work that just freaks me out it's actually more comfortable for me to think about living out here robbing banks and pharmacies just taking what I want for as long as I can at least it will be exciting it won't be boring and I don't have to worry about linity or Cen and everything will be taken care of it will just be me investigators were able to uncover a treasure Trove of information including sketches dating back to 20 3 and several digital photos which showed how Keller managed to design and build the bunker he had diverted water from a nearby stream to run through PVC pipes Into the Bunker and also wrote that he wanted to build a laboratory to study viruses the bunker was even equipped with cement flooring and a wood burning stove as well as a working chimney as for how investigators were able to track down the Bunker's location the digital photos that hadn't been burnt in the Keller's Northbend home provided a detailed map of the location showing power lines and outlet malls along along the routes once the fire had engulfed the home neighbors were quick to report it and this quick thinking is what allowed firefighters to put a stop to The Blaze before these photographs computers devices and evidence could be burned forever had the fire been allowed to consume the home even for a few minutes longer it's possible that Keller wouldn't have been caught for many more months or possibly even years other tips helped law enforcement such as claims from Ken's boyfriend that 2 weeks before the murders she had confided in him that her father was building something called Camp Keller in preparation for doomsday Ken's boyfriend also confirmed that Peter Keller had shown him his expansive gun collection which included rifles while at the home before the incident took place cen's boyfriend reported that everything seemed fine and kaen did not comment on her father only stating that he often took hikes alone on the weekend and was stockpiling supplies at the makeshift fort in the week before the murders Peter Keller also reportedly withdrew $6,200 from his bank account and told co-workers at a computer refurbishing store that he might not be returning as the community grappled with the aftermath one cannot 30th for unknown reasons the victim in question released a statement saying that dant had not harmed her or her child she released a statement on Instagram that claimed she made an unnecessary call to law enforcement in an intense moment dant did not harm me or our daughter today we have sought the help necessary to move forward with our lives dant Davis was reigned for the crime in February 2 they say never meet your Heroes because the reality sometimes doesn't match match up with the fantasy in the case of the undefeated boxer dant Davis recent legal battles prove the statement to be true revealing that sometimes the glamour of Fame isn't all that it seems on December 27th 2022 the Broward County Sheriff's Office received a report of a woman in distress the unnamed woman had frantically called 911 fearing for her life she claimed her boyfriend had hit her in front of their infant daughter and that she was trying to flee she told the dispatcher that he was going to kill her and was coming out after her police were shocked to discover as they pulled up into the driveway that it was the home of professional boxing champion dant Davis as they arrived a shirtless dvon was standing beside a black car which looked as if it was in the process of leaving the scene behind the wheel was dant's distressed girlfriend seeing the police she slowly begins to reverse and the car comes to a stop dvon is immediately on his guard when officers address him he seems agitated and irritated by their questions he claims that the car is girlfriend is in belongs to him and that she was trying to take it without his permission as officers try to work out the details of what had transpired dant and the officer questioning him both take argumentative stances with a point of contention being why dant doesn't know the exact address of where his girlfriend lives and why she had driven the car to his premises if she didn't own it the officer in question tells dant that his girlfriend had claimed that he had jumped on top of her and hit her with a closed fist in front of their child at at this point dant scoffs and denies it officers then interviewed the woman who called 911 although her face is blurred out in the original body cam footage officers report that she had sustained an abrasion on her lips most likely from a fist connecting with them the woman claimed dant had struck her once but that his fist had connected with her head and lip in one Fell Swoop when the officers returned to javant and Report what his girlfriend had described he scoffs again and says something along the lines of well she would say that that the officer asks if there are cameras on the property which could have documented the assault to which dant says yes but dant denies hitting her stating that she wanted the situation to escalate at this point it's obvious that dvon is being deliberately evasive a point that officers mention to him another child is also located on the property dant's 4-year-old daughter when the officers inquire about her well-being dvon states that she is being looked after by someone but refuses to elaborate eventually falling silent and refus to answer any more questions when dant's manager gets involved the situation escalates and a tense interaction occurs between all involved as dant's manager tries to collect dant's belongings dvon at this point has been placed in handcuffs and officers declare he is under arrest for battery but before they can leave the scene they have to verify that his four-year-old daughter is safe and that the person she is with is reputable dvon refuses to say who is in there with her but states that it isn't her mother as he has full custody eventually he tells police that he trusts his daughter with his manager and that she'll be safe in his care javant is then placed in the back seat of a squad car and driven to his next location to be booked and processed after pleading not guilty to the charge of battery the charges were eventually dropped altogether as the victim opted not to proceed with filings against him allegedly Davis completed anger management classes to the satisfaction of the woman who accused him while dvon Davis has had an illustrious career in the boxing world he has also been in trouble with the law several times all the while seeming to deny responsibility in February 2019 an arrest warrant was issued for Davis in connection to an altercation that took place in a Virginia mall Davis allegedly had a rough encounter with a man at an ATM and when police arrived an argument ensued and Davis shoved one of them he was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault but the case was dropped on February 4th 2020 Davis was charged with simple B domestic violence in Coral Gables Florida the incident involved the mother of his daughter and Davis was captured on a viral video where he was seen forcefully grabbing the woman by her neck and yanking her out of her seat during a charity basketball game that weekend Davis later surrendered himself to the Coral Gables police and was held on a $1,500 bail in a since deleted social media post Davis denied the allegations against him saying he never hit the woman and was merely overly aggressive the arrest affidavit was released shedding further light on the incident it stated that Davis was also accused of dragging the victim
