Dallas Cowboys vs LA Chargers Week 3 preseason condensed game

a kickoff as the Cowboys won the toss elected to receive and Jaylen Cropper will take it out from the end zone looking for an alley busted to the outside craer will go out of bounds just shy of the 30 with a flag on the field during their return holding receiving team number 20 half the distance the goal first down Malik Davis the running back here on first down number of starters on both sides who will not play play action pass swing it to the outside side and the first completion of the game goes for about nine to scoon maker Coulson can make an immediate impact in his first preseason action Davis stays in there he's got the first down handoff and scampers forward across the 25 they'll down him at the 242 yd line Lance back to the air swing It Wide Open nicely delivered to Billy Johnson who spins his way for a first down continue his development process after they made the trade for him to bring him here to Dallas that's another nice deliver to the outside for Jaylen Cropper who will be on that 53 floi The Man in Motion here's a bounce on the cut Davis to Midfield Coulson was in there on the stop with Jefferson threading next Tuesday when the cuts happen there will be no starters playing in this game as they spread it out Lance going back to the air Lance dumped out Davis is devoured Dean Leonard the the open field tackle with the corner playing shallow he read it quickly and just ripped the legs out of the receiver Jesse Miner the defensive coordinator has continued to like what he's seen out of the versatility of his defensive backs as Duce vaugh runs into a wall chance for this Chargers defense to try to get off the field on the first drive Lance dials it up open caught Billy Johnson out of bounds wonderful throw by Trey Lance you can see the short coverage by Leonard safety late coming over Jefferson and this bullet right on goes for 25 yds fresh set of downs just outside the Red Zone hand off vaugh patient and he continues to fight his way towards the 15 down to the 16 five start 47 yds in the seventh play of the drive playaction pass Rolling On The Run in stride perfectly delivered for Floy with Davis the big back at 511 202 back in there oh he fumbled the snap or on the exchange rather it was Lance who jumped right back on it where they turned him away on Downs against the Seahawks Lance and that's knocked away beautiful play Stride for strid Finley gets a hand on it bringing the blitz off the slot and that speeds things up for Trey Lance here it comes it's going to get hit right in the back but the coverage down the field absolutely perfect by Finley it was a nice conversion by Lance on the previous third and long Lance surveys through his progressions in the pocket dump it down and a pop right immediately comes from Junior Coulson there's the big play made by the rookie linebacker on scoon maker to keep him out Brandon Aubry will come on he is nearly automatic and one of the best kickers in the NFL after a sensational rookie season last year makes it 3 nothing Dallas will send it away wooden and Davis back to return and this will be kneel down by the Chargers so they will start deep in their own territory Isaiah Spiller is the running back on first down take it to him Jet Sweep Davis he's got speed can he get to the edge he does Davis up field look at him go Davis turn on the burners will they catch him no touchdown one play 70 yards and the Chargers are in the end zone here in Dallas have seen this before playing at TCU they've seen this speed watch as he turns the corner stays in bounds and it just outruns everybody to the end zone 70 yds what we already knew the electrifying speed can be a game changer he had the punt return touchdown in his first preseason game ever from scrimmage Dicker will send it deep to Cropper and Davis one hop they got to return this it's in the landing Zone and that's going to go to the 20 instead of the 30 with these new rules because it bounced before it went into the end zone and Duce vaugh in there back to the air Lance and that's an Aaron throw looking for vaugh was heavily covered with Shane Lee in the area Hara talked about how much fun everybody's having in practice how infectious that energy has been hand off for vaugh pushing the pile using every bit of his frame to drag it for four yard Lance swing it outside incomplete good coverage by Dean pass protection that's going to be incomplete no flag on the field charger's defense 70 yd Jet Sweep is going to look to return this one off the foot of anger and he just floats his way out of bounds from The End Zone here play action Spiller On The Run stick delivers oh nearly picked off that was dangerous less foot goall hand off Spiller and he's tripped up in the back [Applause] field touchdowns perhaps 39 stick steps up feeling the pressure stick across his body knocked away he looking for rice but a great play made by Andrew boo now stick is forced out of the pocket looking to the right side and back to the left this is a tough throw to make and he throws it just a little bit to the back hip of rice if he gets it out in front it's going to be a completion to start the Chargers offense day JK Scott will Boot It Away Billy Johnson back deep for Dallas oh he gets walloped what a hit and Johnson the wide receiver just puts his nose at the football Chargers defense back on 31 Chargers bringing some pressure Lance felt it and went down the corner Blitz came in and Jefferson got there in a heap number 37 left side of the screen he's going to just embarrass the running back trying to block him and almost forces a fumble here it felt like we were in Fast Times at ront high Jefferson Lance kept it gains four and his family were big Michigan fans he eventually gets to Ann Arbor of course wins the national championship last year as Lance has another completion but well short of first down yardage as pton Hender shot could only get to the 35 and the Chargers fors it three out Davis who had the long run we've seen him return a punt for a touchdown in a preseason game before will he do it again here backed up inside the 10 but he's got some room to work with and show off the Speed not that time tripped up with a nice open field tackle thrown a 100 Balls to each receiver that's going to be playing in the games Brandon rice the motion man stick and he's got a the top from Boko doesn't necessarily have he is making it tough to argue against him Jim harbot just keeps saying he belongs he absolutely belongs he loved what he did in practice this week he's loved what he's done really all pre-season they have 160 yards and this has to be returned bounced again right before the Gold Line vaugh vau and he's hit at the 25 with a flag down to hold in number six offense number 36 that penal is declined holding offense number six that penal is accepted half the distance of the goal first down Dallas this cowboys offense will have to go 91 yds down the field Chargers defense has found a rhythm after the early start from Dallas Royce Freeman picks up a couple but another penalty down has had a busy start to this first St def number 91 that penalty is five yds from the end of the Run automatic first down quite a wrestling match in there play action Lance got space to work and he's got wheels stutter step and then banged out of bounds too good through the air nearly perfect hand off disappear into the pile sets up third and very short by Roy Freeman this is a third and short two hand off up the middle daylight Freeman spun down across the 40 first one to get there after he picks up 15 and look like Shane Lee misread that uh defense that time he was looking for the off tackle run to the outside floro and he just hops forward in this game said more than anything he wants to see consistent execution at the highest level wants to see everybody go out there third down opportunity for the defense to get off the field Lance oh picked off get up run it back not a lot of room to work with but Tony Jefferson with a heck of an effort to get to that ball in time retired became a scout on the field interception first down Los Angeles and makes plays like this 10-year veteran who in his career in a regular season had four picks but this one turns back to Cowboys great opportunity to build on this lead Sunday Patterson Stutter Step squeezing his way through and he's brought down at the 31 second and three hand off Patterson went airborn and sets up third and one let's go down to Jamie and uh yeah it's being consistent what have you learned from from them that you're implementing in your routine um I say just having a pre-practice routine and a post-practice routine after a nice career at USC was just 20 years old when he was drafted into the red zone for the Chargers offense Loft it and that was a little bit behind Parham sets up second and 10 so a second down and 10 instead Patterson surveys Patterson navigates and he's there Lance back to the air a little too tall for duvon for the Chargers defense to get off the field Lance in the pocket aad one lance looking to evade two Lance evad four for the first down run what an effort first down Cowboys and now back to the air swing it to the outside not a whole lot of room to work with for John Stevens Jr has played basically exclusively cornerback through training camp in the preseason as Freeman looking for some space can't find much and picks up three at safety and now playing cornerback Lance on Third and five pumps Lance fake shimmy first down he's dangerous and Lance showcasing all of that Raw Talent as we approach the two-minute warning hand off B and he gets swallowed up by Jean Baptist vaugh makes a cut vaugh speedy con elusive into the Red Zone Jefferson has to come from across the field to get to him but a flag is down this may be a face mask against Tony Jefferson tally after the fact on this infraction yeah no question he grabbed the face mask but again Jefferson trying to make a tackle on a short running running between the tackles with patience face mask Defense number 37 that penal is half the distance to the goal and automatic first down Lance feeling the pressure looking to escape he won't down it goes tremendous tackle here too looked like Lance was going to get out of the pocket second and goal looking in zone Lance puts it up oh it's brought in beautiful catch by floi touchdown Cowboys watch the fade route here watch 18 with a push right there gets away with it then gets the ball for the score that right hand pushes pankins away and that's all he needed to get separation as Lance put it in the perfect spot on that back shoulder back to return this Dynamic kick from Aubry into the end zone so this will be from the 30 for Gil back stick to the air uncs over the middle incomplete hit the hand of Johnson stick deep drop stick lets it Fly wobbled an incomplete Jaylen Johnson again this time with plenty of space and he completely dropped it minute 36 Dallas could actually get the ball back with two timeouts and do some damage and stick will go to the air filling the pressure steps up out of the pocket stick on the Run incomplete knocked away from Jaylen Gil makes the play well again watch the ball position here tough throw on the run but not thrown to the outside and low allows the defensive back to come ins minute 29 to play in this first half and two timeouts Billy Johnson back to return this from Scott and he'll go way back towards the 10 with some room to work Billy Johnson is spun across the 25 from Lanson company remember they were efficient on that opening drive as well to get all the way down the field Lance dump it down Freeman is sandwiched to the 35 minute to play Lance back to the air on second and two LOF it it's caught over the middle put it right in the spot ball comes down to the Chargers have it and the official threw the bean bag which means it's a fumble and yes the Chargers have it over the top of the linebackers but here's the hit a double hit oh the great play with the left hand by Tony Jefferson again watch him reach around the back with his left hand to punch the ball out right there before the knee was down charger ball near Midfield and a chance to get more points stick unloads down the sideline single coverage but rice couldn't get to it Bell came over to help from the safety spot second down and 10 take the hand off stick will go up the gut good gain for Easton stick and a first down 38 seconds left now for the Char first down Stick Over the middle oh nearly picked rice was the intended target after the long touchdown to foko gave the Chargers a 14-point [Applause] lead pump fire another deep ball and he overthrows Cornelius Johnson third and 10 into his range at 40 will give you a 58- yd attempt again stick on target it's Johnson who holds on for the first first down number6 stick going deep sideline oh rice went up for it he just couldn't squeeze it all the way through they got to rush the field goal team out there for Dicker and this is about a 53 yd attempt from this spot right here go to the outside another catch and out of bounds for Johnson who was forward progress which will stop the clock with 11 third and four back to the outside and far too tall for Johnson from 48 got the hold Dicker the kick it is perfect plenty of leg and makes it 20- 10 with 3 seconds left here so there's no element of surprise and on top of that you have to take time off the clock if you get it into this Landing Zone which Dicker has done every little tentative at first we missed a couple calls was the odd man out in the first half we'll see if he gets a little bit extra time here in the second half play action to him stick unloads perfectly there Jaylen Gil out of bounds well thrown by stick but number 40 watch his feet as the ball comes in it kind of goes limp and drags him both 18yd pickup on this delivery from stick last week against the Rams another handoff and doson fighting towards Midfield looks like they'll Mark him down right there press last preseason trying to do the same here to conclude catches it out of the back field makes one man miss and explodes forward to the 45 oh really a nice catch by do set up third down and four and movement up front Willis Patrick looked like he was the first to jump 5 yd penalty third [Applause] down oh this could be a free play stick on the hard count and the completion over the middle to Cornelius Johnson who is build out across the 35 but a big Gainer for this Chargers offensive 16 either way first down stick quick drop knocked away batted twice and picked off first turnover of the day for the Chargers finally taken in by Julius wood and the Cowboys have a little momentum third round pick but to bring a veteran of that level of Jefferson's caliber and that secondary to the young guys is Paramount to building a successful team I believe so uh getting guys like Tony and who's been it and done it multiple places been highly successful is great so 20 to 10 it stays as we tick down about the Midway point of this third quarter Lance on the bootleg play action rolls LOF situation last week we saw Tony Jefferson with an interception in the end zone earlier in this second half hand off goes to Conor not a whole lot of room to work maybe picks up [Music] three second and eight Lance through his progressions Lance will tuck and run lance look to bounce it and he got undercut by Robert Kennedy swing it Johnson not going to get there Chargers all over that one from his inside linebacker spot and he just races right towards the receiver and gets help from his buddies the Chargers will retain a one-point lead should he make this 34 yd attempt which for Aubrey is quite literally automatic taking nearly half of this fourth quarter clock away a 33 yd field goal makes it a one-point game and now a Touchback will start this drive at the 30 now the Chargers will look to drain as much of this clock as they can and try to get points and put this game Out Of Reach as much as they can play action stick underneath it goes to Luke Benson I can guarantee that one dots in the back here on second and two they're going to go back to the air and they're letting stick dictate this game Brandon rice finally with a catch out of bounds just shy Midfield from where's he from he's from that school where Justin Herbert went I thought I thought he went to Auburn oh that's right he started Auburn outstanding the last two years for Oregon and Dan Lanning leading one of the best offenses in the country and a real good fit for Shawn pton off Uber [Music] efficient stick good prote section oh B it down that one never had a chance the question is whether or not it was a at the end add insult to injury running over the guy that threw it we saw a little bit of a glimpse of it week one but that right there epitomizes what we've seen through training camp it's been the camp is where it's at and now it's all about getting to that season so I think the best part is about coming out healthy and getting ready for Raiders week one appreciate you thank you thank you all right guys getting dentel Perman back in the fold is going to be a huge addition Henley expected to take that next step Nick nean had some really bright spots especially early in preseason through training camp Junior Coulson coming in as the third round pick this year the practice squad which is important especially as the season goes along third down and four for Lance pressure comes Lance gets away once lands off his back foot caught for taken away intercepted Matt henkins says give me that we're talking about the competition at linebacker defensive all these places how about our secondary Henkin with an outstanding play rips it away from the reer receiver and hangs on you can beat anybody if you play clean football which the Chargers have done in the preseason now want a little bit of a busted play as stick get spun down in the back field second down and 12 pitch it Patterson oh real oh he gets walloped there was no room to run at the 40 the excitement that surrounds this team right now and the promise of the front office and the coaching staff and the play a huge piece third down and 12 a big potential conversion for stick and he's loading it up stick one-on-one incomplete Cornelius Johnson the rookie was the intended target and it brings us to the two-minute warning Scott gets a clean one away fair catch called for and made by vaugh Lance to the air on first
