[Music] [Music] hello everyone and welcome back to the channel say what's real TV this review is for Hulu's Reasonable Doubt season 2 episode 4 prime time in this week's episode they provide a disclaimer letting DV survivors know that certain scenes may be triggering if you or someone you know may be experiencing some type of relationship abuse of any kind there is help and there's a number provided for you on the screen to call so when we open up the episode Chanel she's in her jail cell apparently having a nightmare and we get this flashback scene to her and JT the day in question of his unal living so apparently the abuse had already started cuz her face is already bruised up but she's asking him let me leave let me go he's telling her no F that you don't get to leave he basically walks off from her turning his back to her telling her that's not going to happen Chanel she gets fed up she picks up the trophy and she goes to whing in on his behind extremely violently where you just see blood splatter everywhere she then wakes up in a panic back in the jail cell and the question is was this reality playing out in her dreams now normally I do a play byplay but I'm going to lump all of Spencer scenes together because there was a lot of back and forth and flashbacks in this particular episode so Louis he goes and picks Spencer up from school and he shows them something that he saw on the school's IG page and Spencer tells him that he auditioned for the musical Hamilton and Lewis seemed shocked by that and Spencer was like you know I love music so Lewis makes the smart remark like blasting Gunner is a lot different than wearing wigs and tights but lwis claims that it's cool he just was surprised so Spencer told him he kept it on the low because he didn't want it to conflict with basketball and why did he say that Lewis almost has a heart attack talking about oh you quitting basketball like no that's not what he said so lwis gets annoyed thinking it's about a girl and Spencer tells him no it's not he says look we've been about basketball forever I just don't want you to regret it now low key I think Lewis is trying to question Spencer's masculinity but for real for real Lewis is worried about that basketball like he wants to vicariously live through Spencer when it comes to these Sports maybe feel like Spencer can be this all pro something he couldn't achieve back in his Heyday because he was over there playing video games or what have you so why can't Spencer do Musicals A lot of parents do that they push these Sports on these kids and a lot of times the kids that's not what they're really interested in so then Louis he tries to talk to Jax about it thinking that she was going to feel the same way he did and she didn't she thought it was cool that he auditioned for Hamilton and he's like well what about basketball once again he's more invested than anybody else Jax was like what about it it's not like he was going all pro anyway keeping it all the away 100 but Louis is still over there saying that they have worked so hard over the summer he's grown like 5 in it just all feels like a waste and Jack looked at him like a waste see again this is about Louis's failed dreams and aspirations you shouldn't feel like it's a waste that you're spending time with your son it should be about the moments that the two of you are sharing and side note in this scene we do see Louis's hand all wrapped and bandaged up like y'all just not going to tell us what happened but Jack she does ask him how does his hand feel and he says that the doctor said that it was cool but not its best with a game launch coming so I'm guessing he may have carpal tunnel but in the trailer I thought for sure he had done hit a wall or somebody's face so after Jack's leave lisis gets a phone call from the school and we find out that Spencer has gotten suspended for fighting so he waited till he got home to ask for an explanation from Spencer and he tells him that he was being bullied in the locker room after sitting there minding his own business and he just had to do what he had to do cuz the guy wouldn't leave him alone so Lewis at first told him next time just walk away and then he dapped him up and said look sometime we as men we got to do what needs to be done and I felt like in that moment he was proud of Spencer because it showed him that his son wasn't soft that was that lowkey questioning his masculinity so we later see Spencer on the phone basically telling one of his classmates that sevy the bully would not be coming at him with any more that gay stuff but he had to dress up the story when he was talking to his dad so he can respect it so LS comes in with a sandwich and he overhears what's being said and he makes him get off the phone and he questions him about lying so Spencer told him that sevie came at him about all dudes on Broadway being gay and Louis was like why would that bother you so he takes this big deep Gulp and was like you know there's nothing you can't come to us and talk about that we won't accept like it's okay and Spencer He just flat out says I know I ain't gay but it does upset him when people think that he's something that he's not just because he wants to play ball and do plays like why can't he do both so Louis was like well when did you start caring about what other people think you can't let somebody's words make you mad and Spencer had to tell LS it wasn't sevy's words it was his he finally decided to go after something he's been wanting to do for a long time and his dad was the first one to clown him about it and he pretty much threw back into Louis's face all the things he said to him about the wigs and the tights and only wanting to do plays because of a girl so now Lewis is feeling foolish he's stumbling and stammering over his words and apologizing saying that he really didn't mean anything by what he said but Spencer just felt like nobody is listening to him and he didn't want to talk about it anymore so earlier over at at the firm we see Jax analyzing Chanel's psych eval when Daniel comes in and in that conversation we find out that Chanel has no clue about the $30 million so she says so Daniel he puts his Columbo jacket on to go play detective to go keep track of Adrien and then we see Corey giving this presentation in the conference room saying that he's going to pitch a Prime Time interview with Chanelle from jail and of course Jax is not all the way with it so they have to have this side conversation about and he pretty much convinces her that this is what she needs this is the last attempt to get her to look like a victim and he has everything under control and halfway handled and approved and she finally agrees but he lets her know the one thing she has to do is get Chanel to agree to do it so Jack she goes over to the jail and basically convinces her and tells her that if she was in her shoes she would absolutely do it considering all of the bad press since Janelle went on the Run thought it would be best for her now to tell her side of the story but she was going to have to tell everything so she pulls out these hideous wigs that Cory wanted her to wear and told her that there was going to be makeup there as well and then this is where we get our first flashback to where Chanel first met JT back in August of 2007 at a photo shoot that she was doing for a magazine she was working for and I find that interesting because in season 1 it was made to appear that Chanelle was just this gold digger and she finally hit a lick when she met this pro football player but clearly she had a career she was running things and handling her business and loving it when she met this fool so we see JT step to her like oh we I don't see too many sisters in charge of things and Chanel wasn't impressed by him at all so he tried inviting her to one of his games chenel was like I don't know you and I don't like football and I think that was a challenge for him because he's like we're going to have to change that so maybe his mission was to break her all the way down because how dare you not be into me like I'm the man so he hits her with the line how often do you get someone that's going to take care of you and I guess that was music to Chanel's ears because the next thing we know it's a month later and we see the two of them in the bed skinning and grinning and Chanel is loving it so apparently they've been talking for hours and hours and JT he's pretty much saying all the right things to her telling her things that he feels she wants to hear how beautiful she is how he loves the way she says his name How He Loves every inch of her body and wanting to know has she always been this confident person and she reveals that she used to be chubby back in the day and in this conversation is confirmed that Natasha is his daughter with ebony Phillips which is going to be played by candy so JT tells her that Natasha means the world to him and Chanel wanted to know why didn't he marry the mother of his child so he says that ebony had a lot of issues and that marriage means a lot to him it's basically forever for him is to the sticks and that's probably why chenel had to divorce him in a black like in a black dress like that's the only way she was going to be free from him in death only okay but anyway I guess he didn't love ebony enough for all of that but I'm wondering how much did he contribute to ean's issues we see Evan and Adrien and come to find out after he pulled up on him in last week's episode he sent him to Jamaica so he can get a clear head and to lay low from the media after he got arrested with Chanel so apparently that clout liquor Evan over there sipping on giving him some liquid courage cuz he talking all Reckless to Adrien he's asking him did you fall in love with Chanel or were you just having sex with her like cuz you didn't deliver my money like you were supposed to I'm still waiting on my 30 million so Adrianne standing there with this dumb stupid look on his face smirking like he think it's a game he tells Evan he thinks that they should be patient and that they should wait till after the trial but Evan was like no sir slap slap slap all up in adrianne's face and pulls out a piece on him like no you're going to get me my money quick and in a hurry so all of a sudden he says I can get you some of it and that's exactly what Evan wanted to hear and as Adrian is leaving we see our boy Dan the man outside flicking up the pictures taking it all in So Daniel he does some quick research and he calls Jax to give her an update and lets her know that he has spotted Adrian with some random guy and that the mansion that they're in the deed online has has the homeowner's name concealed and of course they're going to keep pursuing that until they find out that information so we get to this Prime Time interview with Chanelle and we find out that the interviewer is the female that Corey was smashing in episode one Tanya Scoggin and the two of them they're going back and forth of what's going to be allowed in the interview and apparently Tanya is still upset with Cory for kicking her out of his house that night before she was able to get one off and Cory really didn't care he was like whatever uh back to what we're talking about so as Cory is talking about we Jax is walking up and Tanya looks at her up and down and they introduce themselves to each other as ja is explaining to her she doesn't want chenel's mental health affected by this interview and Tanya is still a little cold with a little attitude talking about this is a interview not an inquisition so she looks at Corey and rolls her eyes and says maybe we'll all be satisfied and she walks off and Jax picks up on it and like are you sure she's 100 on this and Cory was like 110 as if he knows she's going to do whatever it is he tells her to do so we get into this interview with Tanya and Chanel and we have a flashback to 2010 when JT actually proposed to Chanel and it pretty much was given manipulation I mean instead of him leading with the proposal he did this whole roundabout way of asking her to support him like his other teammates have with their women and you know just up and leave your friends family and your career and come do what you need need to do for me basically that's what it was given and Chanel was like no she was stubborn about it she was standing on business until he whipped a ring out and Chanel was happier than a kid in the candy store so back in an interview she tells Tanya that she loved him from the beginning all the way to the end so Tanya she brought out the pictures and asked Janelle why was she hiding them in her safe deposit box and Chanelle said she was not hiding them she had them there just in case JT unived her she would have proof that he was doing those things to her so Tanya then wanted to know when did the physical abuse actually start and we get another flashback to 2017 so it's the night of his retirement party and chenel she's trying to clean up and asking for help and of course he's not budging he'll get to it when he gets to it so Chanel is getting flip at the mouth basically telling him look it's not like you got anything else to do so why she say that because of course he's in his feelings he's not playing anymore so apparently he probably still wants to play and can't and probably had to retire early due to injuries or whatever so he feels the need to throw up in her face that he pays all the bills and she was so quick to quit her job and this and that and the other but didn't you want her to quit her job didn't you want her to come move away from her friends and family to come and support you didn't you undermine what she was doing because what you were doing paid so much more like what's a gig compared to a NFL rate like isn't that what you said so what you wanted that you wanted a housewife to be there to cater to your every raggedy ass need and Chanelle did let it be known that it was never about the money for her and even after all of that for some reason Chanel cared to know who he was texting and he was like oh don't do that like you don't want to know and she kept persisting and he said oh so you really wanted to know and he shows her someone sending him pictures of their breast talking about oh she's young and everything is in place I knew you was going to get fat after you after the baby and all of that just throwing back into her face what she confided in him when they first met so he grabs her arm and she snatches away like let go of me I'm not one of your groupies and he pushes her into the wall real hard and he says you take the trash out I said oh no sir so back in an interview Tanya kind of starts victim blaming Chanel for choosing to stay with JT and Chanelle hit her back with have you never been in a relationship where you stayed longer than you wanted to and the look on Tanya's face said a lot as if she thought about what she had going on with Corey so she changed the subject and wanted to talk about the 911 call so Tanya plays the call now mind you her and Corey had a conversation prior to the interview saying that he did not want that played and they argued back and forth about it so apparently she just decided she was going to do what she wanted to do as the call is playing you can see Chanel being triggered and she's getting upset Jax is fussing at Corey about it and he has to remind her that she is too emotionally invested in the case so Jack she storms out so she can go and put a stop to this and now Cory is upset Tanya is definitely hotter than Fish Grease and they send Chanel back to her sale and just like that we have Jack somewhere in the corner having a panic attack my thing is didn't Chanel wait 2 hours before she called 911 so it was like it wasn't in the moment that it happened so it's like she was acting right but nevertheless Daniel is still on detective Duty following Adrian around and we see him coming out of a bank and he rips up his bank receipt and puts it in the trash like a fool so that was right up Daniel's Aly because he got his gloves and he went dumpster diving so Jack she goes in to talk to Chanel and basically Chanelle is feeling some kind of way saying that maybe it is her fault like nobody had to be un alived and she should have left a long time ago Jack she brings up Damon and all the emotions that she's been feeling ever since that and how she's ended up on and depressant about the whole situation and she's basically telling Chanel that she's strong and they shouldn't have to defend themselves against these insecure unstable men so Corey and Tanya they have some banter back and forth and then we see chenel coming back out to continue the interview so Tanya she brings up all the different charities and foundations that JT has been a part of over the last decade and chenel's response was well so did Bill Cosby so Tanya was taken aback by that comment and Chanel said it shouldn't be in surprised that people behave differently when nobody else is watching which is facts Cory acts like he doesn't know her in public but he blows her back out behind closed doors so we get another flashback and this is 3 months prior to JT's unal living at one of his fundraisers and we see Adrian up there giving a speech he's up there praising JT giving him all his flowers and just giving him all the things right next thing you know you see Adrien and Chanel in the bathroom getting hot and heavy and steamy hunching down as if JT is not somewhere walking around in the vicinity of this event so this is a prime example of you act one way in public but behind closed doors you're a totally different person so all this could be a facade that Chanel is putting on playing in our face and I'm wondering when did this affair actually start and then Chanel tells Tanya that everyone keeps secrets and I found it interesting that the camera paned to Cory and Jax at that very moment and then we see Chanel Landing the bed and she has bruises all over her face we hear JT talking in the background saying that I didn't mean to hit you I just thought that you left me at the event I couldn't find you and Chanel was like I'm still here and she's nursing him trying to put wet Rags all over his face and he's like please don't go uh just stay with me until I fall asleep as he waits for the pain medication to kick in but somehow he does manage to tell her that nobody's ever going to love her the way he loves her and I'm like I hope that the hell not and she tells Tanya imagine someone banging your head through the wall and then begging you to take their pain away it's the audacity of it all so again it was like Tanya was really trying to point the finger at Chanel so she starts asking her like what made you defend yourself now like out of all this time why now was it the pregnancy and Chanelle is looking at her like pregnancy like what are you talking about so she says to her were you not aware that JT was having an affair with a woman named Tony Holly so she pulls out a copy of this check that JT allegedly gave Tony to terminate the pregnancy and she tells Chanel that she thinks that she knows Tony so she would understand that that would be a trigger for her and Chanel is shaking her head looking like Tony like she has absolutely no clue about Tony and JT so Tanya was adamant about asking what was so different this time and Chanel let her know look I'm done so she basically told her she allowed her to pick her apart for hours but there BBE reasons that JT did the things that he did but at this point in time it's not her job to care anymore and she tells Tanya the only thing she is guilty of is choosing her life over his for the very first time leaving Tanya to sit in it and reflect on her own life so now that the interview is all over Cory he steps to Tanya and tells her that was a real low blow for her to throw that pregnancy thing in there and Tanya just says that it got approved and so the two of them they go back and forth and she basically says that so tells him that she learned a lot from the interview and the one thing she learned from chenel was that she's been in this situationship with Corey for way longer than she should have and he's like well don't be trying to compare me to JT she says I'm not but when someone shows you who they are believe them so Jack she walks up and before she can get anything out T was like look Cory already got on me about the pregnancy thing and Jax was like well you could at least tell me where you got your information from I'm like that's what I want to know Tanya basically was through with all love it she told her asked and answered it was nice meeting you Jax and Corey I would say see her around but I hope not and she walks off so Jack she peeps the scene and she asks Corey so how long have you been effing her and she's like wow really ninja and again Cory didn't say a word just stood there like I'm caught is it me or did Jack step to him as if she was his girl so Jack she goes to her car and calls her therapist Dr lennen and tells her she's not looking for a refill for what she already has she was hoping for something a little more long term and I'm like what exactly does that mean so Jax she finally makes it home and she sees Louis sitting there getting drunk as a skunk and she's like what's going on with you which child is it he tells her about Spencer and him getting suspended and everything that went down after that and Jax to me didn't really seem all that concerned it was like oh that and he tells her I guess he's feeling somewhat like his father because we met his brother in season 1 and we know that Terrence is gay and apparently maybe his father had a problem with the way Terrence was always wanting him to man up or whatever so I guess he is in his feelings because he found himself kind of doing the same thing to Spencer as what his father was doing to his brother but Jack she did reassure him that because he's feeling what he's feeling he is better than his father so LS over there feeling mighty down and he's feeling mighty low and she tries to lift him up by letting him know the world would a better and safer place with more men like him and I'm like I don't know about that cuz he's a liar and that's when Jax remembered the hot tea from the interview and asked him did he remember Hat's mom Tony and Louis he's sitting there trying to play it off like he doesn't know who in the hell Tony is like uh uh yeah yeah yeah and she tells him that JT knocked her up and paid for the termination with a signed personal check so Louis over there like uh um uh did she take care of it and Jack tells him she did not she was talking to some of the moms at the school and Tony is definitely showing so now lwis is looking real stupid in the face as he should because first of all last week you said that you guys needed to be honest you needed to keep it 100 even through your mistakes you have yet to tell her the truth Jax flat out asked you did she know the woman and you told her no so what if Tony gets called to the witness stand and it comes out in court in front of everybody and Jax is blindsided you're done you're through now here's the thing we saw Tony and Lewis hunch one time in season one on camera now there is proof that condoms were available now whether they actually made it on the Peta we really don't know did she poke holes in it we don't know did it pop off did it slide off we have no idea my whole point with lisis is I don't know if this is his baby or not the thing that gets me with him is he lied to her about who the person was that's the thing that I don't like because at the time he was hunching Tony Jax was over there hunching everybody else so can she really be mad hell I thought she was pregnant the way she was thrown up in the courthouse so do you guys think that Louis is Tony's baby daddy because we may have to pull Mory out of retirement for this one because she does sleep around okay and another thing how is it that Louis hasn't even seen Tony he literally met her taking the kids and picking them up from school so how all of a sudden he haven't seen her in months to where he doesn't know if she's showing or not so somebody's at their door and it's Daniel so Jack she goes to talk to Daniel to see what he's found out playing detective all day so he gives her the rundown on Evan and he is JT's business manager basically he's doing a whole lot of shady stuff under JT's name because he has this will Goose LLC that JT apparently has under his name but Evan is reaping all the benefits from it so Jax Tails d Daniel that athletes do this all the time and he tells her that this was set up 2 days before JT was UN alive so we see Chanel sitting in her jail cell and we get another flashback showing the day that JT was UN alive but it's completely different from what we saw in the beginning of the episode we see Chanel trying to leave she has her bags JT tries to stop her basically tells her she's not going anywhere and things get physical it gets brutal and he starts choking the wife out of her like literally to the point where somebody comes from behind and hits JT over the back of the head we never see the person but when chenel finally catches her breath and she sees the person she is absolutely shocked and I'm sure grateful at the same damn time and for a split second we pan back to Jackson Daniel and she says what if chenel is trying to protect someone and we then go to Chanel's jail cell and she's asking herself what have I done and that's where the episode ends woo child what did you guys think of this week's episode it was a lot going on which version of the flashbacks are you going with the one where chenel went behind JT and brutally attacked him from behind or the one where he was choking her and somebody came up and saved her life and she's protecting that person do you guys think
