[Music] yeah it's exciting isn't it the two Thompson sisters there along with Sydney Kennedy fullz only 17 so it's sitting the kids up front that's what they're being described as Meritt Matias comes in at right back Megan Reed at Center back pushing MD Curry into that left back position and Rocky Rodriguez gets a run out there and but nebet Leon and Emy will all be on the bench and available to Becky Tweed if she wants for the visiting side racing Louisville they've opted for a more to the starting lineup for uchenna canu and she's only started nine games this season or appeared in excuse me yeah but she scored four goals in that time so final player she was missing with a knee injury against Gotham so as you say she comes back in Emma seers drops to the bench probably for a rest because she's been in great form Alexa bar is preferred preferred rather over railen Turner Turner on the bench sits at 4231 shape and Taylor F to Marissa the Grande so good as those holding defensive midfielders for them usually a HomeTown game is like a fortress if you will but bimo stadium has not necessarily been that as we're underway Angel City only has one win at home so far this season one draw and three losses so this will be the fifth matchup between these two sides all time one one and two is the record so each team has a win and two draws so as even as a against certainly is but both these teams need the points not just to get up the table as we said a few minutes ago but also to turn their form around Angel City no wins in the last five just to two draws they need a a win and to get their home form going they need it right here at bimo stadium and for Louisville just two wins in seven hasn't been great for them but in fairness to them they've played all the top sides they' played Orlando Pride as they get a free kick there they played Kansas City current they' played Washington they played Gotham and so to get two wins from those matches plus a few in between is probably not the worst of returns but they need to climb up that table and Savannah Dello be one of those hoping to help bionz do exactly that three wins three losses six draws for the visiting side race in Louisville and then for Angels City three wins six losses and three draws so inverting the losses and draws are the two teams and at this point in the season which week 13 is the official halfway point things are about to get interesting as they are in this game a beautiful touch from Thompson Jazelle that is trying to play the ball in across to her sister Alysa and that chemistry was on early display when those two made a first start for Angel City as sisters but it was Jazelle on the defensive event jaelle on the right hand side to start over they probably will switch good ball in good defending from Aaron Wright to get that one away from trouble and first time all three of the teenagers have started together Lissa Thompson 19 Kennedy Fuller 17 gelle Thompson 18 how exciting as that for Angel City fans as exciting as this big kick that meets the head of Angel City a wide open opportunity for the hometown team and Curry tries to get that one in there um Kennedy or excuse me Kennedy Fuller yeah gets free of a marker that's a problem for racing Louisville don't want to allow someone with an uncontested he header rather fortunately for racing the ball goes wide of the target a nice turn and the ball's played forward to Sydney laru check that I was just excited to see SD Laro get in on the action early on in this one um but to your point I think about Angel City it's nice to have that succession plan in place right you have all these young players you have the ability for them to step in now and make a difference but you're not going to be in a position where you're like maybe a Seattle and you have someone who leaves and then you're kind of in a a jam trying to figure out where your identity yeah that's wonderful to see it it might not all happen straight away there's no question that the the Thompson sisters in particular are super talented the ball played into the middle of the pitch Meritt Matias looks inside half a shot half an opportunity either way it's going to be a goal kick and so far it's Angel City FC who have applied early pressure and just to finish that thought you got Alysa and jaelle you got Kennedy Fuller at 17 they're going to be in and out of the first team throughout the next couple of Seasons but two three is time assuming Angel City hold on to them they could be a formidable front three and Sydney laru at 34 years of age as the ideal experienced player classy player to teach them all they need to know Louisville applying pressure up front Alexa bar serving looking for an opportunity to pounce Sarah Gordon will come back and help her goalie de herich save percentage 69.2% this year she'd probably like to see that a little bit higher either way an opportunity to have big saves in key [Applause] moments a nice ball played back right on goal the phase of goal which you hate Gary but the relief was needed as that pressure from Angel City was apparent again and that's our official Lorenzo Hernandez blowing it dead Katy lung just kicking that ball up and the bit I hate is when goalkeepers try and get clever in that box when they're under a high press and pressure no need to just get the ball down the pitch later on when you're not under so much pressure then you can start playing it around ball is blown dead as it's pick in who brings down Fuller quick feet there from Kennedy Fuller amazing just 17 years of age got four minutes in the last match against Houston and 15 minutes against Gotham so in the last few games she's got a bit of a taste of that first team experience and just so critical that the players getting an opportunity to maybe get some more run are going to be executing because again that schedule for Angel City is tonight against racing they play Bay FC on Saturday and they just had a game against Houston on Saturday as well so we'll see what the newcomers can do that delivery wasn't ideal and it goes straight to picket and she's able to retain possession and help her team go on the front foot she plays the ball all the way up to Kayla Fisher and a slow B played back to hich but it has just enough pace for her to be able to clear it with very little issue Madison Hammond turns Megan Reed was calling for the ball a little bit forward but it was played behind her nonetheless louville looking to box him in a lot of pressure up front as Dello gives Chase once again this time heich doesn't waste any time she just boots it quick two touch and Angel City are back the other way that's fln stepping in trying to break things up she's so pivotal for them so far this season cross from Maas and once again it's to the head of Sydney Laro who else she's so dangerous in the Box that's a fantastic cross and a good header just wide you can see Becky tweet applauding that it's a fantastic cross with Pace Sydney Laro so good gets up it's just just stretching and unable to direct that into the far corner but Meritt Matas has been waiting for her chance to start and Becky Tweed saying she's been knocking on the door I'm going to give her a chance at right back and already just put a fantastic cross in and maybe we'll be battling for that right spot position and there's there's other options there as well that she's going to have to beat out including of course Jasmine Spencer but they can always push Jasmine higher up Jasmine Spencer one of 12 nwsl Originals if you will who have been rostered every season in the nwsl Janu then on that right hand side started the match in the first couple of minutes on the left but was already switch with Kayla fer probably will do that a few times during the course of this match but four goals in eight or nine appearances that's a very good return from Cano and she's just been battling with a few injuries miss the Gotham match with an ankle but played the 45 minutes before that and was really really good in a 2-n victory for Louisville against Houston Dash interesting about this matchup the visiting side has had the lead in all four encounters at some point and a point made by Becky Tweed about teams coming to La it's not like a regular Road game she says the lights of La La Land really turned things up a notch yeah we were asking her about her home home form and why Angel City have struggled at home it's a beautiful Stadium B mod they got a great support there we see that that file in favor of angel City on the youngster Kennedy Fuller but what she says is people love it so much they get so excited for land in La they get so excited to come to this fantastic Stadium they get all pumped up and they keep their best for playing here against Angel City so somehow they have to make this a fortress they came up with a few Solutions a more aggressive home side and intimidating somehow but a little bit more spirited chatter towards the other team you get my drift yes I do very much so I almost got stuck into the Trap about saying a place that people don't get excited to go to but I know better than that I'm not even going to begin to surmise every fan base in the nwsl is fantastic and actually after tonight once the official numbers are in the thought is that attendance will surpass 1 million so far yes and it's it's going to happen at this point in the stadium so the season halfway through whereas last year it was reached in game 127 if it's reached theight it will be game 91 it just shows you how big the crowds have gotten of course the biggest one so far was the one at Ricky field last week for Chicago 55,000 in the stadium Sydney laroo leading the charge for Angel City FC she plays the ball back and Angel City look to organize that's going to stick that sit in the kids yeah I like that I like that a lot ooh the anticipation by Kayla Fischer she was trying to read that pass if it was going to go out to the fullback that ball the save opportunity is made by Meritt Matias As She Goes Down hobbled some contact on her foot this is not good she's been waiting for the chance to get back in as a starter mer Matias hope that's not going to stop her from [Applause] continuing it's a rousing round of applause from the fans back in the game that's fantastic to [Applause] see back and forth we go here on the early on of this match Hammond turns and it's canu who tries to play the ball forward she's back on it and gets taken down by Rocky Rodriguez and I believe Rodriguez is getting a booking it's very early on the game to get a booking and we say this we in a week out yeah you see that but she knew what she was doing she wasn't going to get the Paul Rocky Rodriguez so let let CaRu go past you you've got other Defenders waiting Sprint back and cover them but to deliberately pick up that yellow yes it does stop the attack but now you've got all that time 77 minutes plus that youve got to be careful of every tackle you make I don't think the risk is worth it savan Dello standing over the ball in her third year again hit her 50th match marker here tonight 50 starts as a matter of fact as well we're ready to go to pick it goes back to Dello the defense quickly comes the pressure can canu and you see everybody in the Box calling for the cross and Flint is such a massive Target the ball goes over her head however and too aggressive on the front foot says the official it's a free kick that in the end they they didn't get much from did they racing lville play it short lost possession got it back got it wide thought they could have got it straight in there from the free kick and maybe caused a few more problem Oh given away big turnover once again fer finds de Grande but they don't make anything of it again that's not a habit that we want to see happening here as picket quickly plays it inside to De Grande again and makes a run a big collision and we have Maas down again it's the second time in the space of a couple of minutes is Carson padoo in chasing the ball you'll see she just leans him with their shoulder there and it's actually the the two Angel City players who Collide there's the shove in the back but then there's a collision with Gordon goes down again takes theun of it pick complaining that it was no foul but I think it was it was in the back of Meritt Matias and she's not happy which does suggest that her evening might come to an end soon certainly hope that isn't the case she's up and about she's up and about yeah she good Angel City has kept a clean sheet in two of its last three matches which is a testament to their defense their goal tending but offensively still trying to find a little bit of a rhythm as well and maybe they will do it here at home they certainly have the talent step over and carried down to the goal line the ball is cut back back and it goes off Taylor Flint it's Alissa Thompson who's been so good in terms of delivering and setting her teammates up so far this year leading the team in assists very Pacey down the flanks aren't they both the Thompson sisters very very quick it's not always easy for Defenders to deal with plus they just have that unspoken connection just being siblings being sisters growing up together you saw it early on when jaizelle made her first start Flint comes in ferociously and heads that right out of the danger zone but the ball's right back in and that was a great run by Sydney laroo who was inches away from Glory Flint with a great header there under all sorts of pressure she's just an amazing player in defense for racing Louisville some for statch is first in the NWS in interceptions and tackles she's second in aerial duals I don't know who's better I'd like to know who's first she she's second in aerial du she's second in blocks I mean wow she's setting records as Taylor Flint Hammond able to punch the ball loose and the shot goes inside and great job by Fuller who already drew two fouls here tonight and adds a score to her resume Kennedy Fuller her first nwsl career goal well that's fantastic Delight there on the face of Becky Tweed and why not they've been positive early on have Angel City that ball played in to the youngster there's the ball she gets free but she hits it straight away that's the key here you try and hold on to that maybe you get tackled but Madison Curry plays the ball in she hits it straight away no chance there K you see it from behind it's got Pace it's got Direction and that is absolute Delight for Angel City in their bench and justification for Coach Becky TW playing the three youngsters up front sitting the kids when you're an angel City team that's had four scoreless games this season through 12 weeks an early goal before the 20 minute Mark is going to boost everyone's Spirits last year they had seven all season so certainly hoping that they won't repeat that in 2024 coming into this match Angel City the second low scorers in the nwsl and Houston Dash scored yes a less rather so they'll be hoping to not just score this have this one but score a few more look at the dancing in the backgrounds a great VI in the stadium they are trying to make it a fortress but certainly scoring goals has been a problem and maybe Kennedy Fuller might be a solution along with her Speedy young winners Alysa and Jazelle Thompson can racing respond that is going to be the question sorry go ahead no I was going to say they tried everything it felt like the kitchen sink they threw at Gotham and there was no reprieve for them so how will they adapt now that La is up so early yeah two opposing views from the coaches on their previous games as you say be is not happy at all the performance against Gotham and the the expected goals with very low and they want to have a good much better performance here but Angel City at Houston they were really really good best game of the season said Becky Tweed expect to goals 2.16 so to draw nil nil when you create that many chances and she just felt they deserve to get something and it nearly did for those who who watched it it was in the dying seconds Miss Messiah bre it's a header that everyone thought might have crossed the line in the end was not given We Believe for hand ball but at the time it was so close and heartbreak for Angel City not to get more than just one point against Houston Dash it's interesting when you have some some draws or some losses are oh we should have had it some wins are oh we didn't really deserve that one so the game script isn't always indicative of the result Angel City are HED to have both here tonight a good result and a strong performance in front of their home crowd at beo Stadium the cross comes in it ricochets and it's cleared cleanly by Megan Reed you spoke about Angel City having a shut out in their last match against San Diego keeping a clean sheet they've never done it twice in a row at home which surprises me never had consecutive home clean sheet so if the score remains or if the zero Ms they will be for the very first time they keep keep consecutive clean cheese problem is they've got CaRu they've got Savannah deelo they're going to stop Le Saar in front but Emma on the bench ra and Turner on the bench long way to go yet Angel City yeah what do you mean should be fine everything's fine 21 minutes into this one Angel City FC have a 1 nil lead on Louisville Kennedy Fuller with her first nwsl goal in just her sixth start for the hometown team putting them up I just love the way Kennedy Fuller took that goal she hit it hit it first time didn't try and control it in turn she would have been pounced on by a whole bunch of Defenders as it came instinctively Hit it first time with power to K L's right hand side but far enough away from the keeper that she couldn't reach it it was a real instinctive goal scorers goal yeah Poise I should say as opposed to patience for sure cuz you have everyone barring down on you when you're in that close to goal which is why you want to shoot quickly otherwise you're going to get crunched by one of the big center backs but have they Unearthed a real talent here She is again great touch there to win the ball away from Kyla fiser she gets taken down to ground again but they'll play Advantage Flint with the challenge and the cross seemingly coming but instead it gets pulled back to Fuller at the top of the 18 she's unable to handle that just Out Of Reach but no problem for Sarah Gordon to take that ball to feet and try again to force the issue Hammond one touch and turn Angel City 55% of The Possession so far in this match 45 for RAC in Louisville but I would argue that angel City's possession has been more impactful would agree with you 100% is what you do with that possession and they've been putting balls into dangerous areas getting shots at Katy Lind DD Heritage in comparison has had very little to do and it's an impressive Angel City they are sitting in 11th place it's very close to the bottom and yet they've had some good results recently they been playing better they again as you mentioned should have possibly beaten Houston Dash Thompson a little quicker than Flint in that moment gets around her and puts a shot on it goes over the crossbar she had Fuller running down the left side banz exciting young coach at just 35 years of age and Super Mom good two young kids and she's running racing Louisville soccer team as well that's a lot to do yeah her I don't even want to know what her schedule looks like to be honest I'm getting anxiety just thinking about it a nice touch on to Fuller who gets another opportunity to go One V one the ball squirts away from her and it's Katie lond who's able to collect talking of the coaches both these coaches were together as assistants that Gotham two years ago and Becky tweet saying I always knew she'd be a head coach she's just a fabulous fabulous person and a good leader and obviously was a fantastic player in her time back at Seattle rain to backto back player Shields she was part of those teams soanz with it all ahead but of course as any coach knows they've got to get into the playoffs and that's not a given it's a it's a very very stacked nwsl season some incredible clubs so it's going to be a fight for both these teams to make the playoffs somehow we have two more playoff spots than we did last year and it's not any easier to get to that Next Level there two more teams I guess as well Utah rolls and Bay FC I mean the Way Orlando pride of playing with Barbara band is fantastic Casey current have been brilliant with shinga Washington Spirit they're also fantastic with Rodman of course there a few other clubs that Gotham won again today with all their Superstars and their team the reigning Champions that's already daunting da daunting at the top of the table there's eight places and already those four look like they've grabbed those so it's a it's a real battle between the rest of the teams to try and find a playoff spot a bit of a sailmate there deep down in the Angel City end getting Boxed In by Louisville here Hammond trying to relieve some pressure as Rodriguez came back or laru came all the way back excuse me to try and help she's checking to the ball once more but a nice job by racing to not let Angel City Advance freely turnover once again that ball is played through and what an opportunity for Savannah Dello on the Mis CU by Angel City Sarah Gordon just giving it away and for a moment I thought that was in Savannah deelo really misses I think it just skims the post on the way past she's such an incredible talented player that maybe there was a bit of pressure no there wasn't she bends the ball almost like a foot slipped a left foot slipped as she hit it but I would have put money on her finding the back of the net that's a fantastic chance for racing Louisville and a bad moment there for Sarah Gordon that she's very relieved to get away with surely Angel City will need to be more diligent it's the second or third turnover that allowed for racing to get on the front foot in the final third and Flint demonstrating that prowess that you just talked about and a big Collision in the 18 and canu is down rolling on the ground that 50/50 ball had two bodies bouncing off each other she's up though which is great to see tried to take it on a turn met some resistance Fuller once again trying to move the ball and getting taken down to ground again those quick feet keep fooling all the Defenders Micky Tweed first season as a fulltime coach was interim last year started the year off as assistant then got the interim job did a fantastic job towards the end of the season got the playoffs I think they only lost two of their last I don't know guessing 11 12 matches got to the playoffs and unfortunately couldn't progress all the way to the finals but this season is turning out to be a little bit more challenging at this moment looking to play the ball through there were two options the pass came a little bit late from Alexa bar nonetheless Dello finds picket She's Dangerous on the cross the Deep looping ball goes up but D hadti says that's mine give me that if you put that much Heights on a ball it's going to be hers every day of the week unfortunately the cross has got to be whipped in the way we saw am Merit Matias do it earlier on to Sydney lar at the far post you whip that ball in quickly it's a tricky one for a keeper to decide whether to come minute Mark in Los Angeles California at bimo Stadium Angel City trying to make their home a fortress and it's Fuller who's on guard because she has been fantastic and forcing the issue once again yeah Fuller's the third youngest player to score a regular season goal behind Alex Fifer and Olivia mtry to 17 years of age so exciting to see that sort of talent coming through the nwsl she was on a mission to start her pro career Kennedy Fuller graduated from high school in just two and a half years she said let me get out done with the school work so I can get on the pitch full time and the decision paying dividends for both herself and Angel City I think we're seeing more young women players coming through the system earlier used to be they all went to college and then came out at 22 23 I might be wrong on just that percentage but I get the sense that more are now becoming professionals earlier on at 1617 Gordon charging into the 18 trying to make amends for the earlier turnover playing a one-w with Sydney Laro um but I'd say that you're right on that and I think part of it is because the opportunity is there at a younger age now before there were only a certain amount of teams there's not really many places to go maybe you can't make a living now women's sports in the Forefront it's opening doors for all these athletes good money being paid CH to make a fortune so I think you're correct it's become a real life job if you're good enough these women certainly are especially Alysa Thompson an opportunity for her as she's streaking down the left side Hammond gives it back to Thompson two Defenders Have Eyes on her a foul give and it's going to be another opportunity for Angel City to whip that ball in and see what they can do on the end of it no question about that Cayla Fisher just dragging her left foot there making a connection foul given it's a dangerous spot as well B get whipped ing the likes of Sarah Gordon Megan Reed mer Matias into their box it's a really dangerous position for the free [Music] kick six fouls four race in Louisville four for Angel City so far here today and I think half of those have been courtesy of have been on Kennedy Fuller that one Madison curry in with Pace like you talked about and what a payoff for Rocky Rodriguez that ball looked like it didn't have eyes and all of a sudden enough pce perfect timing and making no mistake yeah Meritt Matias whipping that ball in as the smoke goes around the stadium they don't deal with it do they the near post racing Loval they allow it to come through and then Rocky Rodriguez quick as to react just drops and bang she hits it nothing Katy lung can do but the ball's got to be stopped at the near post and it flies past car and pick it and the rest of the players at that near post area whose job it is to stop that ball coming in and the p the price that ball skipped in like a rock on water you know when you sidearm it across that's what it looks [Applause] like to make sure that everything's on the level we're going to have a review to make sure that everyone on Angel City was on side as we get a look at it here yeah I think certainly Rocky Rodriguez was on side and she's the only one who's effectively involved I didn't see a hand ball this it should be a goal here it is yeah goal confirmed listen can never be too sure either way Angel City FC happy to see it go in their favor Rocky Rodriguez making it two nil for the home side and for a team who we talked about who hadn't necessarily been the most prolific in terms of scoring what a relief well they haven't got it one yet but it's certainly a twoa looks like they have a great chance Angel City to go one and get the three points and get this important home win Sam Dello might have something to say about that as she gets the ball just to the right of goal forcing D herich however to make sure and a fantastic independent effort to even get that shot off good tip around the post there but their home form they drew their last match against San Diego at home without even scoring a goal so these goals will be most enjoyed by Angel City fans some bumping going on in there the match before that they didn't score either they lost one n at home to Houston Dash with a goal in the dying Moments by a former player of their's 97th minute winner from Paige neelson 998th minute so the home home form hasn't been a happy one recent games decision to play it shorts backfires and all of a sudden raying Louisville is hustling to get back in defend 1v3 a shot on lond is saved what a fantastic independent effort by Alyssa Thompson she didn't have much support Alyssa Thompson she she was running and running and certainly the racing lville players were all getting back but I didn't see too many Angel City players in the end she has a shot and forces a good save from Katy lond they four players around pick it right Malay all saying not on our watch because that would have been quite a turn of events from a corner kick opportunity where you didn't get a look on goal and a shot opportunity the other way that's not what Louisville wants it's a tough game for racing Louisville at the moment they just can't get into it it's not working for them up front just wonder whether the pace of rail and Turner might be seen in the second half alexar doesn't have the pace to threaten the back four of Angel City well it's deide that's kind of wrestled with their ability to clutch that momentum and do something with it they've had this conversation a number of times where maybe a slow start in the first leads to something better in the second but in the nwsl you can't get away with that for too long it'll catch up with you Angel City seeing if they can catch up with this offensive pressure that is mounting here in this possession Flint takes a look to the right flank doesn't like what she sees so the ball goes along the back pick it continually in the mix and a threat to cross the ball is blocked but she still hustles to get it back de Grande IG and Aaron Wright puts a big ball in the Box finds picket she's able to head it it's brought down by bar she goes down in the Box clutching her leg everyone kind of stops for a second canoe tries to play it to the top of the 18 maybe for Flint either way an awkward sequence Alexa bar is still down and I'm guessing the F and the referee having a chat at the moment CU she was in the box when she got bought down the the Riff stopping it now to have a look she's making the point that it was a tackle have a look does she definitely gets kicked oh you stood on half it now the ball's already gone so is it a penalty if it happens after the ball's been played and it's just an incidental step on the toe interesting to see how the referee interprets this Lorenzo Hernandez the ball's you got the ball at your feet and for me definitely it's a penalty once she played the [Music] ball a look at it again yeah she plays the ball now away and then there's a stamp on her toe really painful you SE from there in the ankle I wonder if this is going to be given as a penalty well the only thing for me too though is that she the defender wasn't making a play on the ball not trying to kick her foot out or trying to chop it down I feel like not to blame the person who got hurt a little bit but she stopped and slowed down once she got the ball away so I wonder if that will play into it you could say it's just an incidental coming together the referee will the final decision I'm not I'm not sure you're not envious of his position right now I know it's it's because the ball's gone away you could interpret it as it didn't affect the goal situation let's see what he says he's going for the penalty yeah well at least it's exciting it's contact and a [Music] yellow Lorenzo Hernandez tracks down Megan Reed not only Awards a penalty kick but also a booking for a yellow [Music] card chance for RAC get themselves back in this match before halim you can read it's it's an unnecessary the ball is being played away you don't need to make that tackle you need to make that contact it's going to be Taylor Flint he steps up a great opportunity for racing to come within one her slowing things down put the pressure on Taylor Flint referee will book her if she takes too long Taylor Flint is keeping calm maybe some deep breathing going on you know what you know what the goalkeeper doing asking questions it's four plus 4 walks around the back there just to give her gloves dry on the towel double checking the rules so I can't get off the line but I can go across I just want to make sure y professional dock on we're laughing but this is no joking matter a big opportunity to capture some of that elusive momentum for [Music] [Applause] racing some quick housekeeping as Lorenzo Hernandez gestures for everybody to get behind the 18 yd line Flint unfazed goes top right and that's a big time goal that's a good finish isn't it it really is there was power on it but the most important thing is it's the opposite side to which the goalkeeper Dives which means even if you miss hit it it's still going to go in but Becky tweet did not impress he's looking at it going is it really worthy of a penalty there it's a stamp I mean there's defin there's definitely an unnecessary stamp on a player in the penalty box but the ball had already left so it is open to interpretation perhaps and that's a good finish wow high up with Pace even if harich goes the way the right way I'm not so sure she gets she gets that ball and players who can hurt you Chen Cano in particular got to be careful Caron picket with her service and as I say that she puts a bad ball in but it's very rare for Carson picket she is a fantastic distributor of the ball and has all sorts of stats behind her she leads NW selling key passes and chances great and second in the nwsl in passes into the penalty are area with the exception of course of the last pass which wasn't a very good one she had the vision though I saw the I saw the turn the curl she had the vision pivotal for this team in terms of her crosses and service into the box Angel FC Angel City FC how are they going to respond well Gordon he's going to get it to Fuller and gazelle Thompson tries to go down the right side but pick it so sturdy so solid so energetic yeah having a few words with the rest of her teammates there but you know that's what you need when you're when you're down 21 you need players who are leaders who push the others who organize now they're back at 2-1 they really are from 2-0 they really are back in this game racing Lille and Emma's on the bedroom mentioned her she is super quick she you can bring her on along with ra Turner and but if you're on a yellow and you miss time a tackle that badly catch Flint the way she did she is very lucky if referee Lorenzo Hernandez doesn't pull out the yellow for the second time for Rocky Rodriguez Rodriguez seems to have avoided disaster that's it sort of goes back to the initial yellow card don't get the first yellow card just you know just for for an unnecessary reason because then when you do lunge in and Miss like now you could be off the pitch very lucky 6 minutes of extra time here as the delivery comes from picket IG trying to make the far Post run and just going back to that Louisville goal from Taylor Flyn that was her first nwl pk attempt and subsequent make if you're wondering about her form and her confidence though and why she was so sturdy in that attempt she going to be upgraded to a red card look it is a lunge from way out and the foot stays down so for me no it's not a red the foot's up then yes but it is a bad tackle no doubt about that that is the sixth yellow for fiser Yellow Card confirmed it's the sixth yellow card for fiser so if she gets eight she'll get another suspension on accumulation so repeat offender but's your point she did come from distance she's had that one in her crosshairs I think in in soccer these days the slide tackle is going out of fashion because the moment you go to ground and slide you got no control over it and you're lucky to pick up yellows and reds a beautiful ball into the six for Sydney Laro but it's lond who's able to jump out and capture it Katy L doing well she doesn't time that properly she brings down syy laru and it's penalty so well done to the keeper Alexa bar trying to manage her way in the Midfield but the pace of Rock Rodriguez and the defense are able to catch up Flint on the turn met by Fuller but pick it with the beautiful footwork in pass and it's an opportunity for Louisville de Grande delivers but a great job by Gordon to dispatch that one time unfortunately it finds picket he's so proficient in those cross [Music] opportunities and a few more minutes here for racing if they're able to equalize in the half that would be exceptional would be but I think they'll even be happy with this from 2-0 down at 2-1 they know they're back in the game racing Louisville they have good options on the bench as do Angel City as you mentioned CLA emley it's spring to mind she missed a penalty last time out against Houston Dash in that match that Becky tweets is the best of their season so she weighing heavily on CLA emley so she'll be only too happy to get in this match and see if she can get a a winning goal EG plays to her height advantage over Alyssa Thompson and that ball flicked on finds almost Alexa bar in the 18 and once again some shaky touches from this Angel City defense giving opportunity for racing so far this first half pick it to Kum oh she had the pace but she couldn't get the footwork down to save that one the shake of the head he hasn't really got much going forward aanu such a good player so capable of scoring goals but of course there's a whole second half still to come we'll see a lot more of his legs Tire the forwards might start to find a bit more space but the crowd behind arich's go still bouncing up and down still full of [Music] energy Fuller just lashes at it trying to give some Runway to Alyssa Thompson and holding her wrist is canu looks like she's able to shake it off and Sydney Laro is not waiting to find out she gives it to Jazelle Thompson he heads to the left Hammond plays a beautiful ball and it's Curry who's pursued by mle Flint knocks Thompson to the ground and a one-timer from Gordon trying to keep the manic nature of this possession alive but finally some relief from Louisville Lissa Thompson going to ground but that a lot of the Angel City players felt was a red card and was had a had a good look V and they decided no yellow was was fine so but what what happened was Meritt Matias got she got bumped um by Caleb fer as Caleb fer was actually genuinely playing the ball but the bump took her into the metal stanions and I think that's where she got angry but it actually wasn't calea Fisher's fault in my opinion so it wasn't worthy of that response and Savannah DEA was just going there to protect her fellow player so I think maybe her yellow car a little bit harsh but if got one for Lorenzo Hernandez to sort out there who'd want to be a referee he's like I a Wednesday Wednesday at 10:00 a little look for hanu because her wrist that she knocked a few minutes ago needed some attention being held off for the moment looks like she will remain in the game Maas is right next to kalea Fisher there on the left hand side just seems like these two are going to bump heads again at some stage picket plays with so many good players K the nji come in at Bay FC along with Thea so yeah really has improved NW the football this season has just been fantastic a trio of beautiful goals here one from Kennedy Fuller one from Rocky Rodriguez and the other on a PK from Taylor flint and will it be another one from Dello she's able to make her way into the 18 but the shot is deflected wide and we're going to get a corner kick for racing Jasmine Spencer just trying to slow things down there and you'll see that she's moved to right back Meritt Matias is gone to left back and the way it looks at the moment and there's Emmaus so Meritt Matias will face the pace and speed of Emma and that's going to be a big challenge sear happy to watch that ball and escort it out of bounds for an opportunity for a set piece quick pause here as who else but Carson pick it on the corner kick delivery to Melo short Fuller minding her a big looping ball pich is able to get on it and the second chance volley just breezes by the left side of the net off the foot of emers yeah her does well just to get something on that but msia is very quick to respond just pulls it wide of the post doesn't waits for it to drop Just Hits it on the volley and I think she's going to bring a whole different level of possibility to this racing Nal attack and of course he's coming up against Meritt Matias is's already on a yellow card so any mistimed tackle from Matias could have her in trouble There She Goes already Sears crosses it on the first touch the clearance right back out to her so she'll try again with her left foot and it's picket on the back post trying to redirect using her head just couldn't get enough on it she couldn't I think she was just waiting for contact there one of the Defenders about to bump into it so she got ahead to it but couldn't get really good contact but again the cross coming from Ms is making an immediate [Music] impact exactly what you want from your substitutions as Gordon gets tripped down Alexa bar thinking about arguing took stock took a step back and said maybe not maybe not just yet let's save that for later in the game perhaps after emotions and tensions ran high in the first half what do you think the order of the day is for Angel City in the second half well they are the hom side that they do need to keep pushing forward and probably bring on Clare emsley at some stage their top goal scorer to see if she can also help in that regard but they've got the pace of the young youngsters has got to get them on the front foot which young young Kennedy Fuller was trying to do there but lost possession a nice step over and it's Jasmine Spencer who matches the pace of kanu and now she's going One V one against Alexa bar forcing her down the sideline and now it's Fuller who gets one back got to love the tenacity her ability to join the play once again that's Alyssa Thompson who's been so crucial in setting up her teammate so far this season but hasn't had the goal scoring prowess that we saw last year from her but diversifying your game when you're a young player is also never a problem well it was look at the option of Messiah brigh who's a little bit older more mature she's got good pace so she could come on with Clare emsley once the youngsters up front begin to Tire a bit conu starting to get a little creative tries to double step over but Jasmine Spencer wasn't having any of it but nice to see her a little bit more assertive asking for the ball in her feet Dello de Grande to pick it she cuts back and beats Spencer didn't see what she liked though so asked for relief from the center backs Sears great pace is able to cut in on Alyssa Thompson delivers it on the ground and two racing players running to the same spot Dello tries to assert herself nearly gets him and she gets on the end of it but she doesn't get it quite clean Emma says once again does so well you're right kuu and D seem to crash into each other the ball play back is superb they get in front of their marker Jasmine Spencer and they get in each other's way but this is what she can bring on the one side emers and we'll probably find Rail and Turner will come on and provide Pace on the other side at some stage so yep this came a long way from being over there's so many twists and turns that are possible thas and Alissa Thompson lets that one go tried to turn and get onto it Sydney Laro was there as well but it rolled right out of bounds Aaron right a little less to worry about when she saw the trajectory of that ball cuz I wouldn't want to be chased down by Thompson and Laro that duo on your back tackled by Hammond quite sure what Hammond is doing arguing when the referee stood right there it's an in closer couldn't be close to it and she doesn't get well she gets a bit of the ball to be fair to her she does she gets the player as well turnover by Gordon once again going to exactly the same thing it's not the first time Sarah Gordon has given ball away in a dangerous area my bad I can't read lips but I can see that so far he's fortunate that none of the errors have been costly in terms of goals but it's not a habit that you want to build not at all especially when you're giving it to aen canu just wonder if kanu's her normal self with that wrist injury she has might be a little bit tentative in the tackle and as I say they might be looking at replacing it with railan Turner in the next 10 15 minutes Telo looking to replace this deficit and Alexa bar drills the ball right of goal and a fantastic job to try and capitalize off the turnover for racing it's a great chance for Lexa got to do better beautiful through ball from dellaa and she's miles wide of the of the of the post there going to knock it across the goalkeeper yeah banz can't believe if Beanz was playing she probably would have scored that Alexa bar going to do better in those situations and what a tough thing for your coach to be able to say that and mean it well if it was me personally Laro coming back once again in relief as she does so well their commitment to defense always apparent and impactful in the game Angel City really have no offensive juice so far in the early minutes of this second half we're about 10 minutes in and it's really been Louisville who's forcing the issue Alexa bar trying to pressure Gordon Hammond pursued by Taylor Flint who as we've already illuminated is so good on those one-on-one challenges and T Dello trying to have a little flick onto bar but Hammond in the way and now finally about to be over half but a turnover from Angel City Becky Tweed trying to instruct her team you can't they can't see you maybe instructing them to run into space a little bit more it's one of those faces of of a game where both coaches are beginning to think of substitutions think of where where they can impact the game where they can improve especially for Angel City I know they're two one up they're the home side they're struggling they might look at some of the young players up front and think I need more experienced players and again I'm thinking of CLA emley getting her on the pitch sooner than later nice try to drop that ball off to Malay Sears into Dello she's going to try it with her left and that just doesn't have the curl on it that she perhaps intended again Emma were the one providing that ball yeah win four draws one loss away so they only have lost one of their six away games for the season and and when you're having an up and down result and you're on the road sometimes that draw that one point you're happy to take it and go yeah they had a lot of draws this season have racing Moval especially early on in the season a lot of draws that maybe should have been wins banz at the time saying you know we need to turn these draws into wins because we're playing better than the opposition then they come up against some really good team struggle to get results against Orlando Kansas City current Washington Spirit Gotham let's see them sck on the table a little [Applause] bit well they their last Road game was a one- nothing win against Chicago and Louisville has never won to straight on the road in club history so not only will they jump the table they'll also make Club history well they're going to scored at least two if they're going to do that yeah I feel like after the first half anything is possible that's how I'm feeling I'm sure they must be feeling the same way Hammond getting ding there so or Flint excuse me so it's going to be an opportunity for emley to try and effect change in this game immediately similar to what we saw from Sears once she arrived Sydney laru always dangerous and look at the curve on that ball she sends it back Hammond looks to run onto it and the flag is up on the far side it was a good ball in initially wasn't it from CLA emsley keeper couldn't come for it they all went to try and win the header sort of cross that could cause slight bump on the player and it's going to be a free kick would think every time Bev andz happy with that she's busy weighing up way to bring on Rail and turnout but think because Alex Saar maybe done a good job running around but she might be tiring by this stage of the [Music] match defensive assignment here for Angel City as the ball is whipped to the back post and almost connects with Taylor Flint that would have been Picture Perfect it's a real danger Taylor Flint when you get her into those positions with her extra height there she wins a lot of balls in the Midfield defensively but when you put her into these positions in the opponent's box just short of making contact there not many players of her height that can stop her getting to the ball as well back heel touch to Sears unable to find her teammates however but once again a recycled opportunity and this time she makes no mistake options on the back post and that ball looked like it was deflected up but regardless of who it went off of last that's a fantastic score for Angel City well the pressure has been coming hasn't it it's been time and time again balls whipped into the box questions being asked the racing lville defense and Carson picket with that lovely left foot of hers gets the final nail in the coffin here of this move brings it down and hits it straight it takes a bit of a deflection on the way I think of Sarah Gordon but Emma since she came on this must be a sixth or seventh ball into the box and yes it is Sarah Gordon that comes off giving DD Heritage no chance whatsoever but first touch up you would really as a coach expect your team to be able to shut the game down and win it 2-n but good it's racing Lille they fought their way back in just that one win in five if Angel City could if they're not careful become one win in six if anything it's it's Lille who seems to be more on the front [Applause] [Music] foot and you would think that this entire half that it was Angel City who was playing to score the way that they've been kind of reacting or responding either way another substitution for racing Louisville Jaylen Howell is coming in for Marissa de Grande I was a little bit surprised Jaylen how didn't start the match cuz she was Captain early on in the season one of the star players and she is fully fit but Coach B is probably just wanting to reintroduce her into the team gradually so good effort from De Grande but Jaylen h what a fantastic player she is so even more problems coming for Angel City Howell two-time national champion at Florida State University and as if you already didn't have the threat of Taylor Flyn at 611 Jaylen Howell 510 making any of those Crossing opportunities even more dangerous Sears calling for it out wide tries to take a shot on to go up for the first time in this game down in the box is Hammond and that's Dello who gets her on the [Applause] ankles D such a clever play around the fringes of the box there drives racing Louisville forward and with Em's pace and Savannah Dello Chen Cano very difficult for Angel City to get the ball forward and get on the front foot themselves ban had high praise for Dello this week saying she's so instinctual when she plays some people are more X's and O's tactical I want to do it by the book and not that Dello doesn't follow instruction but she sees opportunities and just feels the game in different ways which is High Praise coming from Beanz she's in good form at the moment toow five goals in the last seven games wouldn't surprise me if she popped up with one here today as well and what a rough night for Gordon couple of turnovers that didn't amount to anything and then for the ball to be deflected off her to score The Equalizer right through who else emsley and pick it a great job of getting back and making sure that that ball didn't get to Target pick it fantastic scores a goal at one end comes back and makes a crucial block from Clare emley at the other look at behind this the the goals here the crowd really enjoying seeing Angel City on the front foot got their cell phone flashlights out it's like a concert in there a big ball across and it does hit the head of an Angel City player and then it's Jasmine Spencer she had her hands over her mouth she knew the opportunity that she had in front of her that shot might have been going on target eventually it hits a nville play and goes out for a corner they were appealing for a hand ball let's see now I think goes off the back of Alexa bar see from this angle think maybe they were asking car some pick two-time nwsl best 11 selection 2022 nwsl assist leader the pedigree is clearly [Music] there once again the ball goes back to hich [Applause] Gordon try to bring it up such a good job by racing to kind of box La in keep them pinned down if you will that been much better second off the first 20 minutes so I thought Angel City were fantastic they just haven't been able to replicate that since the first 20 minutes gazelle Thompson had creeped up to join the play but they were unable to get the ball over to her a rash of hands go up from Angel City and the race is on Spencer clashes with Cano and it's going to be a penalty or a foul excuse me I don't see how foul I think the two players came together I don't see kuu actually brought down Jasmine Spencer but canu herself wasn't happy with that decision but yes again look at the high not the high press but sort of a medium press coming here from racing noville making it difficult for Angel City to play through Rodriguez able to turn freely she gets the ball back and draws some attention in the Midfield so it's Megan Reed and Gordon who are going to try once [Applause] again tries to move up the field but the pace of Cano is just too much and racing easily dispatch it now the race is on that ball back again a little suspect but Gordon at least able to use her body to get in the way she got good Pace Gordon you're not going to beat here very easily certainly not Alex Saar maybe Rail and Turner would alexar different type of player more of a skillful number nine that can hold the ball up and bring others into play Ready turn has got that blistering Pace that can see her outs Sprint Defenders Fuller gets taken down to the ground it's a yellow and it could very yeah it could very easily have been a red from Jaylen how her foot was up she's lucky she doesn't make contact just a threat alone of that foot being up sees her go into the [Music] B look at it again just look how how high her leg is up they're going to do their due diligence and check to see if this is going to be upgraded to a red card don't think there was enough contact for it to be a red card but it's Reckless that gets you a yellow card Reckless
