Tennessee football QB Nico Iamaleava reacts to win over NC State

Nico a little uh little adversity uh earlier on on both sides of the ball but things seemed to settle in what was it that finally got you guys clicking and going I think uh for me it was what you know taking what the defense was giving us um you know I think you know that first mistake I was trying to squeeze it too long you know didn't drop it I could have you know ran or scrambled made a play and uh yeah man I made it you know easier in the second half how much is coming back on your next throw I think was the long one to squirel after the first interception how much did that get you settled back into in yeah um yeah man first drive I miss SC on the same play um and you know I seen I I seen the the call and you know a new score was going to be open on that one and you know it felt good to you know connect with score can you take us through that touchdown run I mean you didn't delay I mean you just took that thing and and went yeah uh yeah man we've been practicing uh for that look uh this you know this whole week and uh they gave us the perfect look man and um you know it's time for me to go score what are your thoughts about the way the defense play just how dominating they were to make it easy when you man def our defense did great man you know coming out with a shut out you know the only points you know they had was my points um but yeah man the defense play lights out man you know we see that every day in practice how the way they prepare you know and you know that D line is nasty so I think overall as a whole defense they played they played great how how much do you think VI as a threat at that quarterback position to run at that RPO and the fourth down and the touchdown run that can help you P dividends down yeah man I think you know I try not to use my legs as much but you know in this game um you know looks I was getting you know I had to so felt good to get out there and use my legs Nico the defense took some strides last year when you were here you see this defense being even better this year and it's so wild for sure man um you know last year I think we were a little banged up uh you know Keenan coming back you know he's a vet leading that you know that defense and uh yeah man I think you know this year we're a little stronger stronger in the DB room and U yeah man I look forward to a great year sure n it looked like the tight ends were a big part of the game plan tonight with two tight ends threw a couple touchdowns to them what can you say about that and what they brought tonight man you know tight ends work their butt off every day um and you know it felt good to reward those boys for all the blocking they was doing so felt good to reward them why was the two tight end so effective tonight oh if youall seen they stayed in their you know they base three down drop eight and um yeah man if you going to drop eight we we going you know keep running the ball so guys ready like Dylan Samson and I talk about what he was able to do for you guys man D Sam does what he does man that's Dylan Samson you know one of the best backs in the country you know when we know when we get the ball in his hands you know anything can happen to anyone ni when did when did Miles show you what he can do catching the football yeah right when miles got here man um you know we hooked up um you know just quarterbacks and you know receivers and tight ends and I've seen you know kids can move a little bit and um yeah man he's great in the block blocking core um and just overall a hard worker man I love seeing Kid work every day and he's a big part of our offense how would you assess the play of the offense overall I I know it's good to see Max get some work and and do well but I imagine you all would rather score touchdowns and kick field goals as well for sure yeah we got to be better in the Red Zone um you know third Downs fourth Downs uh we got to be better than res Zone talk about the atmosphere man being in this game and all the orange that was out there tonight felt great man um I've seen the whole side of orange fans and you know I loved it man it felt like a a home game besides all the red on the other side but man it felt like a home game for sure how can you be better in the Red [Music] Zone um I think just overall first and second first and second Downs are important for our offense um and uh you know third and fourth Downs whether it's the play call or not you know we got to just be better all around all 11 on the offense what do you think what do you think about your performance where do you think you can get better and kind what are your thoughts on how you played coming off the field yeah I did okay um I think early on in the game not forcing stuff uh you know taking what the defense gives me I think that's the main thing for me how do you feel about today's win just your performance overall yeah I thought my performance was okay thought overall the team they great though for sure tight end tight ends elite elite yes sir
