FIGHT THE LINE FIRE. THE CAUSE IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. >>> BACK IN THE BAY AREA, PAUL, WE'RE SEEING FIRES NOT IN THE IMMEDIATE AREA, BUT TO OUR OUTSIDE AND WE KNOW WE'RE VULNERABLE AS WELL, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT'S DRY AND THE WINDS ARE GOING TO PICK UP. >> LAKE COUNTY IS RELATIVELY SMALL, ABOUT 80 ACRES, BUT EXACTLY IN THE WRONG SPOT AND CAN RESULT IN SO MANY PROBLEMS IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME AFTER STARTING. WE'LL SEE DRY CONDITIONS, BUT WE'LL COOL DOWN A LITTLE BIT. COOLER TEMPERATURES MEANS LOWER HUMIDITY LEVELS. THAT'S WHAT FIREFIGHTERS NEED TO HELP BOOST CONTAINMENT LEVELS. LIGHTER WINDS WOULD ALSO HELP. WE'LL SEE A GUSTIER ONSHORE WIND PATTERN DEVELOPING. IT DELIVERS THE COOLER AIR AND A LITTLE BIT MORE MOISTURE EVEN IF IT'S NOT RAIN. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL BE 5 TO 10 DEGREES BELOW AVERAGE TOMORROW, BUT IT DOESN'T LAST LONG, MORE SUNSHINE AND A LITTLE WARMER, OUR TEMPERATURES BOUNCING BACK WEDNESDAY. IN GENERAL, THE ONSHORE BREEZE NOT ONLY GROUND LEVEL, BUT THROUGH THE ATMOSPHERE WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP THE BULK OF WILDFIRE SMOKE DIRECTED AWAY FROM US. YOU SEE IT CONCENTRATED IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA AROUND THE SITES OF THOSE OTHER FIRES. THEY'LL HAVE DIMINISHED AIR QUALITY UNTIL THEIR ONSHORE BREEZE STRENGTHENS A BIT BY WEDNESDAY. WE'RE NOT GOING TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT AT ALL WITH THE ONSHORE BREEZE KEEPING ANY WILDFIRE SMOKE PUSHED AWAY FROM THE BAY AREA FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE. IT'S SOMETHING WE ALWAYS HAVE TO KEEP AN EYE ON WITH SO MANY FIRES BURNING AROUND THE ENTIRE REGION. RIGHT NOW LOOKING AT A COUPLE DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES OF SAN FRANCISCO, BLUE SKIES, FOG HANGING OUT ON THE COAST. 60s, 70s AND 80s AT THE MOMENT, PRETTY CLOSE TO NORMAL, 63 IN SAN FRANCISCO TO JUST BELOW 70 IN OAKLAND TO 70s IN SANTA ROSA AND SAN JOSE AND 80s FOR CONCORD AND LIVERMORE, NICE TO ENJOY A RETURN TO NEAR AVERAGE TEMPERATURES YESTERDAY AND TODAY AFTER THAT HOT WEATHER WE HAD LAST WEEK. LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FOG. ONE OF THE FACTORS RESULTING IN COOLER CONDITIONS TOMORROW IS A DEEPER MARINE LAYER ALONG WITH THE STRONGER ONSHORE BREEZE. THE FOG IS GOING TO PUSH FAR ACROSS THE BAY INTO THE INLAND VALLEYS BY EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, EVEN OVERCOMING THE TERRAIN OBSTACLE OF THE OAKLAND HILLS, EVEN THE INTERIOR VALLEYS OF THE EAST BAY STARTING IS OFF WITH LOW CLOUD COVER AND FOG AND CLOUDS HIGHER UP IN THE ATMOSPHERE. THE CLOUDS ARE YET ANOTHER FACTOR THAT WILL HELP KEEP A LID ON TEMPERATURES WHICH ARE GOING TO START OFF CLOSE TO NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. IN FACT, PRETTY MUCH EVERYBODY IS GOING TO BE IN THE 50s BY EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, MID- TO UPPER 50s IN THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY, THE VERY WARMEST SPOTS INLAND IN THE EAST BAY JUST BELOW 60 DEGREES EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, BUT 50s ACROSS THE BOARD, NOT A BAD PLACE TO START AN EARLY SEPTEMBER MORNING. TEMPERATURES IN THE NORTH BAY ON THE COOL SIDE, JUST ABOVE 50 DEGREES BY EARLY TOMORROW MORNING. EVERYBODY WARMS UP A LITTLE, BUT WE END UP 5 TO 10 DEGREES BELOW NORMAL, LOW 70s FOR THE INTERIOR VALLEYS OF THE NORTH BAY BECAUSE YOU'LL HAVE CLOUD COVER HANGING OUT LONGER. TEMPERATURES ARE ONLY REACHING MID-60s IN SAN FRANCISCO. TEMPERATURES INLAND IN THE EAST BAY, THE WARMEST SPOT AROUND ANTIOCH AND BRENTWOOD ONLY AROUND 80 DEGREES, SAME THING IN THE SANTA CLARA VALLEY, LOS GATOS AND MORGAN HILL, MANAGING TO CRACK 80 DEGREES TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THIS IS A ONE DAY COOLDOWN WITH TEMPERATURES RETURNING TO NEAR AVERAGE THE REST OF THE WORKWEEK AND FIRST HALF OF THE WEEKEND. THE SIX TO TEN-DAY OUTLOOK FROM THE CLIMB PREDICTION CENTER TAKES US ALMOST TO THE AUTUMNAL EQUINOX SHOWING A STRONG SIGNAL TOWARDS COOLER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES RETURNING TO THE BAY AREA AND MUCH OF THE WESTERN U.S., THE ENTIRE STATE OF CALIFORNIA EXPECTED TO HAVE COOLER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS, SAME THING FOR THE EIGHT TO 14-DAY OUTLOOK WHICH TAKES US TO THE FIRST FULL DAY OF AUTUMN. THE COOLER THAN NORMAL WEATHER IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE INTO THE NEW SEASON. BY WEDNESDAY AND CONTINUING TO THE FIRST HALF OF THE WEEKEND, WE WON'T DROP THAT MUCH, BUT IT SHOULD FEEL A LITTLE BIT LIKE EARLY FALL BY EARLY NEXT WEEK. TEMPERATURES AROUND THE BAY, UPS AND DOWNS, TOMORROW NEAR AVERAGE IN THE MID-70s AND UPPER 60s TO AROUND 70 DEGREES BY EARLY NEXT WEEK. THERE MONTHS RAIN AT ALL IN THE FORECAST OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS, BUT THE FOG COULD BE THICK ENOUGH TO REGISTER
