realized this accent is terrible I'm going to go ahead and stick with it and so when when car was asking I'm like I'm just going to tell you everything everything you're going to know about me is a lie yeah it ended up working out it ended up working out really well because then to Cara it's like fascinating I'll travel with this guy I want to learn his story his real story I got a long life he'll die eventually I'll figure it out by then good news short weight yeah um so we're still getting a couple of questions here in the chat but something I wanted to ask is just when did lynon pop into your mind um I think I was just trying to fill out like I I came up with the Union idea first of like an Entertainer Guild and like I I just want to team of bars as like adversaries and I came up with the reason why and then I started feeling out okay well who are the bars that I want them each to have a distinct thing yeah you want them to each have a flavor in combat yeah and then and then at some point uh like when I was trying to come up like L the Linden character was going to be a traditional Bard and then I just thought it'd be really funny to make it Lin man well Miranda and to do a Lin Manuel Miranda style rap to to introduce the fight and that like I don't know just like as I was coming up with characters it just became a funny bit in my head and I knew this was the audience who would appreciate it oh yeah no I died if if it's if it's not spoilerific or if you like actually had like a plan for it what were their like fighting styles going to be like their signature moves so to speak um you know I I honestly I just grabbed a bunch of stat blocks that looked interesting off of DP on right and I I I was going to have them like I was probably just going to come up a bits in the moment of like what what they were would say or do like I I I think at one point I was going to have a not going to throw away my [ __ ] just like throw a fireball or something he does as he does like some sort of B attack like braed B attack something like that but uh when I get to do it cuz when I pictured the mime I was thinking like okay so maybe you'd like Homebrew something where it could use like certain types of wall of force or like just random invisible things yeah I I you know I I didn't put too much thought into combat and it turns out that was a good thing yeah cuz yeah Cara he's he's pretty much a pacifist unless he has to fight he's not going to and that whole situation like okay I feel like we can deescalate oh that one got stabbed oh that one's got a knife to its neck hold up well and these are like so like eventually you guys run into enemies where that won't stop oh yeah yeah like if if they were Jack of's crew holding one of them hostage would not have stopped them but these guys yeah you know they're in Union together and and they like each other they don't want to die over this so yeah they they just wanted to rough me up also thank you to everyone saying that uh you liked me in the Spider-Man shirt that's so nice I love that shirt yeah yeah um Tango wolf asks were you tempted to make The Bard fight a rap battle absolutely not I would not make anybody here come up with a rap on the spot I've had to in previous C pains and it's super fun but I understand not wanting to I going to devastate you as soon as I figure out a good rhyme for and I'm here to say oh it's cooking it's almost there yeah no like the reason I could make the the the rap let's say decent decent enough to work is that is that I got to write it I didn't like spend a long time writing it but you know I I I can write lyrics very quickly but I can't just spit out lyrics very quickly it would be fun to write rap as mod but I'd be frustrated as Jesse because I'm like I could come up with something ex way better than time yeah like I just give me time but Ma would be like I don't know what's happening and just come up with very very simple Rhymes that technically do the words do rhyme but they aren't even like fully formed sentences but you can check out our music composing streams kind of in the archive of TFS gaming to see what we can do when we actually have time to well I just sit there and say it's not really that much time but like well try to give ourselves like an hour find a whole at least not entirely improvised but you see you'll at least hear me sitting there going n that sounds good and these two do all the work with the music and the lyrics may maybe we'll do another one sometime soon yeah they're fun if you haven't been there Stephan and I um he writes the music and I write lyrics and then both of us like record certain things we just like make a song in like an an hour or under whatever it was yeah uh um but uh uh so someone someone asked are planning to add add more characters and like like yeah I don't I like well we don't know honestly but like um no current plans as far as I'm aware no yeah I already said that was asking for spoilers don't it's not a spoiler to say we like it doesn't say what you were going to do what you were going to do what you're going to do but it could it ruins a surprise the surprise it ruins a surprise of disappointment a nobody else is there I'm not saying what characters you guys play maybe they change maybe they don't who knows someone's asking will the season Be Live no it'll because I did do the rap live and those are their real reactions to it live but I did a second take where I wasn't laughing cuz my problem was I I was not I could not keep a straight face watching Jesse be like neither can I I [ __ ] love Hamilton and it shows on my face and we were both delighted that like we were just reacting to each other yeah but also the production of this is what makes this an actually unique tabletop show without that it frankly it wouldn't be as good also most of these sessions they're cut down from like 3 to 4 hours down to what they are so there's a there's a lot of dead air of math and uh kind of like roundabout conversations sometimes that don't really go anywhere like the gambling which was fun for us but someone watching would just go okay so they're putting more coins in the pile yeah and I tried to recreate the fun by just making it a fun montage and I think the Montage is fun watching it all would not be very fun you hit all of the good beats yeah yeah uh two questions came up one I hope one I'm going to try to answer really quickly how willing was Martin Alex Martin to kill one of those bars was he really just ready to do so or was he really hesitant he was nowhere near how ready to go mod was he much like his fight with a cockatrice he does try to deescalate even if it involves using the threat of violence to make people stop fighting so he if if the if the clown had done something if he was like just like okay hold the gun hold the knife to my throat I'm going to fire off a blast at gut he was he was going to Slit but um he wasn't just gonna I'm going to Slit M was definitely much more willing to be violent than Martin was yeah no I yeah mod has never had like genuine friends before like besides like she's had a bond with her sister but other than that no friends friend so she was like I'll kill anyone for you I guess are we killing people are you in trouble yeah you just saw some people standing there threateningly threatening Cara which and keep stab and keep in mind like you know people are poting out that M's not much of a thief and it's like Mod's a rogue Mod's not a thief mod is a survivalist um like and and there's if you look at Mod's back story The reason why Mod's is survivalist is very obvious um again patreon $5 tier and you members uh and then did the players have input on the artwork of the characters I gave a rough outline like the shield I wanted uh Martin to have was something I tried to specify but it was very Loosely described I at least on mine I'm not sure about the two of you I went very into detail including sending a bunch of reference pictures I Jesse gave a middle Jesse's in the middle yes yeah somewhere in the middle um I uh originally I wanted mod to be purple and you were like I don't think that quite fits with like the other color schemes that we going with so what about like a really like darkish gray that's like purple but not purply in tint yeah purple in tint and I was like yeah that's that's cool um I use purple to to make dark dark what should be like gray or black look better um so like I can use purple just I don't want to be like bright purple right yeah it would have stuck out you know um I was very intent on the hairstyle we tried different hairstyles for her and I was like I want the berries and cream stupid [ __ ] Bob I want her to look so [ __ ] dumb and you were like okay I brought that up as a bit and you were like yes I'm like are you sure I give her a cool hairsty and I said no I want her to look like she cuts her own hair I want I want this silly freak to look dumb as hell now to me that's just what she looks like I don't think about it anymore yeah yeah no cuz I saw I saw it in my head as soon as you mentioned warlocks are yeah like they have they have Jack P and and like Jack found a way to use his not insignificant power to create assurances for himself and I saw someone someone Point say like uh Jack got mad that that Cara just left and it really locked in like I mean experiences like that probably did inform Jack contract that you cannot break okay so that one just kind of walked away not I'm wondering I'm wondering how he found out she like don't have entertainment for the night what what do you mean what the [ __ ] are you talking about what am I paying that guy for well he's [Music] gone after everything I paid him too little for ungrateful yeah like the small spoiler but Inc car's backstory like he gets absconded and taken to the Jack of Aces where he gets employed at that bar he pays him basically a slave wage and he sleeps under the counter and then one but he just loves performing he's he's in it for the love of The Craft but eventually he decides to wander off after talking with another drunk dud also very naive is everyone having fun I specifically requested it uh H question for uh Nick does Cara play any other types of instruments um and if so is the uh it's not a ukulele is it is it it's it's technically a loot yeah is the loot his favorite or if he plays multiple instruments or is just the loot uh I think he's most proficient with I'm sure he can do like various forms of percussion anything that involves Rhythm string flute yeah he can probably play play a pan flu probably not as well cuz he likes singing and having the hands allows him to sing so like Woodwinds and stuff like that imagine the fun are like here's a pan flute that's what you learn when you're a kid like a recorder mod can technically mod can play an instrument I don't think we've slotted anything in there yet we were thinking about a drum we were thinking about other stuff but it hasn't come up uh plot-wise yet so it'll just be a surprise yeah most most stringed instruments uh car's got very Nimble fingers uh and then someone was asking how does Martin see whilst blindfolded it's it's like it's a thin Bap kind of thing yeah it's it's something his vision isn't the best when it's on but he can still see it's the way the Blindfolded speedr Runners cheat yeah or exactly it's right speedrun betrayal it's like it's like a mesh that you can see through but it does OP you skate behind it when we getting stuff for this I actually got some uh gauze I couldn't find black guys that would have been the best but I I was thinking I would just use that when I was playing as Martin and then I realized oh I still have all the sunglasses we got for taco when he was here with the commentaries I'll wear those yeah and and uh and yeah um the the actual answer is it looks cool don't worry uh cuz I think I just like came up with it as like a way for Alex to like well cuz we were talking about did we already cover why the pontificates have green eyes oh yellow eyes that has never been covered in anything so far so yeah that that hasn't been covered that's something Carno would know though cuz no you wouldn't he would have known about the yellow eyes you know that the yellow eyes but you don't know why it happens no not know why but he would know only Martin knows why the yellow eyes happen um but but yes yellow eyes would given away that said Alex doesn't have yellow eyes and there is a lore reason for that we're not going to go into it right now also yes that is Stephan's ukulele yes uh and then someone was asked asking uh how uh what are each of your experiences with DND who's played a lot and is who's just new for um we can start with Stefan I guess since that was sure um I have played two sessions of D and D both on the street yeah uh once once it was like a cabol thing where zitto was was dming um and the other one was I don't think that was even D and D what I played with you it was the 2d6 system yeah but it's it's just general role playing yeah that was your system and so I I played D and once um I played D and D once and I've never DM D and jumped right to the deep end I spent months watching every video I could about everything U I'll skip over all the stream D and DS obviously like all the TFS at the table stuff uh I've been a guest on unexpectables a few times uh I I run a D and D stream myself called roll with me uh currently on Hiatus for those looking for it but there's about 200 episodes if you haven't watched it if you want um beyond that my only experience like not streaming at all uh was my buddy Shadow Dancer Bob who actually plays in the role with me campaign he was my first DM and he taught me a majority of like the idea of go with the flow cuz I think he started with a module and then realized that I'm very improvisational so I was like okay this is gone and uh from there it was all improv and I I learned a majority of what I know about DND and about dming from him and I got that broken ass Dice from him as a wedding gift so and hi Bob I see you in there in the shadow hello uh this is my eighth campaign and I still don't know how to play D and D um I'm I'm mainly just in it cuz I love improvisation I love storytelling uh and so I still consistently have not like people tell me how the dice work people tell me what a rogue is and what a dragon born is and all this [ __ ] but I just be like cool I'm going to come up with a character and like have a fun acting experience uh so that's mainly my [ __ ] that's that's typically how I look at it when I'm dming it is a creative writing like improv uh exercise I think you can relate oh yeah like bluntly I would not DM privately I like using it as a storytelling Med medium for an audience I'm not really interested in playing it as like a thing with friends um makes my Approach weird but but I love the like aspect of it being kind of like an acting and a writing exercise and then as a player it's obviously an acting exercise yeah for like for me like like yeah the appeal is like the sort of creative Outlet aspect um like sometimes you have to come up with a character off cuff and then it's like oh man I really like that character I hope they keep running into that character I think they'll keep running into that character yeah well and like you know when uh uh we we haven't talked about Quinn's experience yet oh no go ahead finish might as well but um I I a lot of this is me just sort of especially once we get into episode 5 because you know full stop uh and I told this to them after session 4 is over I had no idea what was going to H I knew how to begin that session I had no idea where was going so I just had a trust that I could improvise my way through it uh by the way if you thought episode 4 was like dense with stuff that happens get ready cuz episode 5 is uh it's a lot it's the longest one just shy of two hours yeah yeah just shy of like four or five hours of play time yeah cuz I I forget when I think it was last episode that I was saying I love that each episode gets like thicker and like more contained uh there's like so much that happens as each episode goes on so there was a lot in episode 4 there's even more in episode 5 I think like Quinn you played a lot of so I actually I haven't played uh tabletop games until I was in undergrad and that was about 2013 2014 which I guess now it's been 10 years so yeah um it didn't seemed like a while when I was only started in college but I actually started with the um Star Wars Fantasy Flight uh game which was very more RP heavy then is that the one with the the Fantasy Flight one is the one with the shitty dice right I hate the [ __ ] symbols Fantasy Flight do better well then they can't sell you the par do better I don't I don't want microtransactions with my tabletop well good news they they broke off their tabletop division into another Studio because they're bought by a French conglomerate anyway I also hate Capital so I started with that for a few years and like GMD a kind of like very thick campaign with different DMS cycling in and out sh out the broker people if you somehow found me hi um and then from there some of them were like oh hey I'm running a d and d game I and you're invited and I joined up with them so I've I've been hopping through a bunch of games I can't even count how many I've been in now um so yeah I've been doing that for 10 years now then on stream of course we had uh the last section of TFS at the table Yeah the couple of uh times we were playing your game and then the one time I DMD the avatar game uh and the uh what's it called foolproof oh yeah that's right yeah I guess this is my nth you were you were my partner in that one yeah know I know I know I didn't forget foolproof it just did you forget we're Partners I you know you know you were you have to remember blugan blugan is here hey hey all of the like the balers gate character is based on blugan kid because I created an Argonian when I did a Skyrim playthrough and I had to abort that because it was modded to hell and kept breaking down so then you aborted his yeah no I had I don't know you no no no I aborted his Universe he was able to escape and ended up in the sword Coast that's why I played him in in balers G I aborted your child and I don't remember you carry on my way son but I mean there's a lot of the same people who were who like involved in that game as were in Nick's game so a lot of those memories probably conflate but um at least they do for me when that happens I I I me I mesh things together a lot but uh yeah what were we what were we saying we we finish that question that was pretty much how much how who who played a lot who is new for it seems like it's new uh kind of new and then we're old hats yeah I guess I've kind of condensed all my experience cuz I've only been playing for 5 years and so I've been in this is my ninth campaign cuz I forgot about the the Avatar one I to include that in my list so yeah I've played nine campaigns in five years that's I tried to figure out the math on that I've done multiple a year that's crazy by the way before we like battle maps like if somebody used a spell to summon minions like I summon 12 giant owls to Aid Us in battle I'd probably do that ahead of time just to cut down on like me clicking around and having to fix stuff so I just put it in a group in the blender file and and unhide it but as long as he knows it's coming he can prepare for I know it's coming and if I'm planning the boss I do so well so the weird but there are like conjure spells that we would be able to use in combat that you could see the potential of but well so for example Druids that kind of got fixed later on with the new conjure spells but they could just conjure animals which was just if it's an animal on the dungeon master list I can summon it yeah I'd have to just try and plan for that um but uh wouldn't it be probably more efficient to maybe just do it in post to the sense that if we're having the battle map you can just say okay these gray circles are going to be your owls and I'll make them owls in the actual footage like that be possible that also sounds like a pain in the ass it's just less fun for you guys I mean I have I have to remake the entire fight when I do the cinematics anyway fair so I just don't know how many like tokens you want to keep in reserve for a Conjuration Spell uh jonan Ross ask were the dice loaded no I don't play with loaded dice well I'll just mine might mine might be uh lot more when I get into it um and I I do want to like release the music I I we haven't figured out how we're going to do that in what form cuz I feel like just the music as as like an album that actually has like just songs ending and stuff could be nice but also a loopable version for people who want to dm with music oh could also be good if people want like version that can go play in a loop and I did create loopable songs yeah for editing there's two possible ways to do it and also we want to make a full version of beyond the Glade at some point we have not done that yet uh I've been just trying to make the episodes yeah there there is a there is a Cara original in his backstory though like you did you did write a song for me to sing for that there is yes and that that is done um so and and maybe maybe we'll we'll put that that specific song up for patrons you can actually hear it yeah and then everywhere else once episode zeros are released but yeah um no the cut of
