Penn State WR Omari Evans talks the potential of Penn State & Andy Kotelnicki's offense

Drew on Saturday as compared to last year how how is he taking a step forward this year in your eyes um Drew he talks more now you know shows his emotion for the game more so I like that a lot um just that shows he cares and makes us play harder cuz I like seeing him happy when we make plays for him Mar how do you feel about your uh role on Saturday especially uh under uh Coach K uh I felt I felt good you know just out there running around and stuff you know being there from my teammates blocking everything it feels really good out there you guys get the ball back with 25 seconds or or whatever a lot of teams just take a knee could you take me through the way that kind of all played out the the confidence what did Drew say how that that kind of played out in the at the end of the half um the coaches were saying we're going to take a shot so and try to score before halftime so really really that was supposed to be a touchdown but I got tackled so you know just give the trade to finish it off could you talk about the confidence though that that the coaching staff has to to do that at that point of the game I mean that shows they have a lot of confidence in us cuz that was a big game changer for for everybody knowing that we just could score in two plays like that so yeah can you take us through the catch because I know you said you were tackle but that looked like a difficult catch um yeah yeah I didn't push off for anybody um did you get blowback on that where people claiming you did yeah people said I did but I didn't even push him I just tried to get some space cuz he was holding me so I I had to make room for me to go up and get it and then to be able to score going into the half like that I mean given the delay the momentum that it kind of gave you guys how important was that uh it was very important because we got the ball back and we talk about winning the middle eight a lot so that helped us win it and really put the game away we were there talking to zackie could you tell us about kind of his what you've seen from him since last season when he didn't play maybe as much as you would have hoped you might have been in that situation a little bit too last season but what tell me about his development over on that side of the ball um he just became a more smarter player cuz he has great ball skills and makes Crazy interceptions in practice and stuff so yeah just the the smarter part cuz sometimes you know the playbooks can be hard a little bit so once you learn that and it plays fast then there's nothing no problems for him Mario after the game on Saturday a lot of the defensive players were talking about the the level of swagger that Drew was playing with what's an example of that from that like from behind the scenes or that you saw this offseason that kind of showed that Saturday was coming uh I saw him talking a lot more and like workouts or or spring ball and everything so I knew it was coming along as he got more comfortable throughout the year so yeah when when you say talking is that like as a teammates is that trash talking what what did that look like like everything so like if we're doing a summer workout on the Hills I seen him talking smack a little bit so yeah that's that's good Zan said that he thinks that Drew started dressing a little bit better a little more maybe said a little Swagger I mean have you seen that no he always had swag with the dressing part so since we got here so that's one thing I noticed Coach K has said that he's uh open to input from players on different plays to call and whatnot have you been in his ear at all about maybe throwing a pass at some point which you did kind of earlier in your life um not not the first game I think he was doing it he was calling the game perfect so you know just yeah I mean if I see something then I'll tell them is it something you would like to have an opportunity to do at some point to actually throw the ball yourself I'm saying oh oh yeah I can throw the ball if we if we want to do that for me then we can do that cuz you know I play quarterback yeah you said Coach K called a perfect game how explosive do you think he can take this offense this season uh very explosive cuz that was barely anything we didn't get to like every good play that we had so once once the once we need those plays then they'll start coming out more often than explosive play Omar you're you're someone who as a as a freshman made a couple big plays in in the non-conference um and I think you said it was a good confidence booster for you for these younger guys uh you know do they see kind of the importance of these games coming up where you they can get on the field make an impact yeah yeah um they're pretty locked in in practice knowing they can get in this week and and these upcoming weeks so that's good they know they got a chance to make some plays so yeah [Music] I guess for last question you got it you know for what we talked about with coming into this year and you James said that he thinks you can take off uh if you make a couple big plays early I mean what what do you kind of see you know as your as your trajectory for the season coming off of of game one um just to keep staying consistent and keep making big plays uh try to make all the plays that come to me so and like whatever happens happens so I
