Training Camp Depth charts NFC South

what's up everybody welcome back to sports talk with Hawk I'm Hawk and today we dive into another South the NFC South thank you so much for stopping by make sure to hit that subscribe button the like quote unquote to be able to open with is JJ McCarthy will be having surgery on his knee um they're not sure which surgery is going to be done at this point um they're not sure you know the damage you know what's going to happen Etc so um really it's unfortunate for him and you know I thought he had one of the best setups there was Kevin oconnell offensive coach Aaron Jones running back Justin Jefferson Jordan Addison I just thought the defense wasn't going to be able to stack up as it just there just isn't enough there they're older and they're not dominating on defense now Dallas Turner will definitely help no doubt about that but um yeah that's just kind of how everything looks right now but nonetheless hopefully he's able to recover they can get the surgery hopefully it's the easier one and he doesn't have to miss as much time all right we are going to jump right in and we're going to try to run through these again and we're going to see what we can do maybe I can get all four done I don't want the VD I don't want the podcast get too long but I've got the NFC South NFC West and the AFC West to get through so let's see if we can get through all four teams in the NFC South here we go Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterbacks Baker Mayfield Kyle tra John Wolford running backs Rashad white Bucky Irving Chase Edmonds and Shan Tucker your receivers for the bucks the top two hav't changed for quite a few years Mike Evans Chris Godwin then you have Jaylen McMillan Sterling Shepard rakem Jarrett and Trey Palmer receiving Cor isn't bad um especially with when you add in the tight ends Kate dton um pay Durham and coest not they're not bad Evans and Godwin by themselves very serviceable obviously when you look at the over unders uh Mike Evans is actually sitting near the top of the Vegas projections to lead the league in receiving touchdowns just little just little thing there so now you get to the offensive line it's been made it's been switched around they've lost a lot of people Tom Brady retired different things have uh happened they got a safe cap and got to do a bunch of different things so left tackle Tristian wors backup Justin skull then you got Ben Brinson back up Xavier Delgado for the left guard Robert Hennessy and Graham Barton rookie from duke are your centers Cody Mock and Elijah kleene are Your Right Guard Luke Gody and Brandon Watson are your right tackles then you look at the defense and this is where this this is really kind of where I think the Bucks lose it Todd Bulls is a defensive coach and he is a very good defensive gamer I do not want to take anything away from Todd Bulls he made his name by being a defensive coordinator it worked it worked well but there it's still just not a lied here so uh Left End you got uh kija cany you got Mike Green your nose tackles are VW Greg gains CJ Brewer your right ends are Logan Hall and William Goldston honestly V is better used as a kind of a trade piece if you will at this point more than really doing anything else um your outside linebackers are Yaya uh diabi KJ Brit lante David the longtime Buccaneer and Joe Tyron your backups are Anthony Nelson sorcus Dennis kayn doich uh sorry doos and Chris brazwell so linebackers kind of leave a lot to be desired they just there's not a ton there your secondary you've got Jamal Dean back up Bryce Hall Jordan Whitehead back up ran wisdom then you got Antoine Winfield Jr the free safety who I really think is going to come into his own but a free safety can't be your number one secondary guy by himself you've got uh Zan McCollum backup Josh Hayes and then you've got on the other side or sorry nickel back you've got tavier Thomas the backup chrisan isan is the starter projected right now your kicker Chase ml offlin I like Chase I have ever since the Colts had him kind of wish they wouldn't have gotten rid of him and then Jake uh CA so all in all the Buccaneers look middle of the road can we just be honest about it and say they're middle of the road because it doesn't they don't look great but they don't look bad they've got pieces they just don't have enough pieces is really what it's going to come down to okay let's jump into Carolina second year for Bryce young first year for head coach Dave Canales former offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers they got Bryce young Andy Dalton and Jack plumber those are your current quarterbacks you got chubba Hub Jonathan Brooks my sanders as your running backs right now Jonathan Brooks is the current rookie that is projected to be the rookie rushing leader um for all rookies now there's not a lot of competition in that as we all know running backs have kind of kind of fallen off but their importance has sort of taken a turn back the other way I think you're GNA find out with Cincinnati Bengal this year with Zach Moss Cowboys with Ezekiel Elliott Titans with Tony Pard you need a guy you just you need a real guy that can take over games back there all right wide receivers Deontay Johnson Adam thielen Jonathan Mingo rookie Xavier lietti Terrence Marshall and Amir Smith tight ends Tommy tremble Ian Thomas Davon Sanders I really like Davon Sanders out of Texas really really like him okay next is the offensive line and they spent some money up here they they spent a lot of money up here actually what am I saying not some all right left tackle eim ionu U then you've got Damen Lewis Austin corbar Robert hunt Tyler moton the starting five offensive line now they are definitely overpaid so let me not I I will not go overboard with this they're definitely overpaid but they're not bad that is a very solid offensive line and an offensive line that many teams would be very happy to have backups Ricky Lee Chandler Zavala Cody Mays Brandon Christensen and then badera trayor is the right tackle their defense they run a 34 doesn't really play into the favor their defense but they're going to play a 34 aan Robinson lebrian Ray are your left end shy Tuttle Nick Thurman TJ Smith are your nose tackles Derek Brown gets moved to an end position with uh JD cretti and Jaden Perry your back uh your linebackers GJ wonham DJ Johnson backing him up sha Thompson with claudon uh cheris backing him up Josie juwel with Trevon Wallace Javon Clowny with clavon Chason the backers aren't bad front line but the linebackers aren't bad if they can play together if they can cause havoc now jvon Clowny to me this team looks more like a 4-3 team it just does defensively looks more like a 4-3 team but like Clowney be able to stand up and attack the quarterback isn't a bad option all right cornerbacks Dane Jackson decaprio body or sorry boty and Anthony Brown are the backups there Jordan Fuller is the safety with Alex Cook Xavier Woods is the free safety with Nick Scott JC horn the young kid I really like with Lamar Jackson backing him up Troy Hill is your Nickelback with cha Smith Wade as the backup there Eddie Panero and Johnny Hecker are your kicker and Hunter all in all I I think this uh the Panthers they improved don't want to go overboard they improve and they look like a team that can compete it is definitely going to ride on Bryce young but he should have an offensive line that can protect him I don't believe he's going to have much of a running game unfortunately so that won't be there but he should have a line that can protect him and should have the ability to potentially make some throws that people say he can make hopefully his accuracy is there okay the next team on the list the New Orleans hopefully still Saints and not the ants last year did not go well for them it was definitely a year of disappointment Dennis Allen I definitely believe will be fired at the end of this year I do not see how this team is going to survive again I think they need to blow it up bring in a new coach say Hey listen coach you're number one you're not being judged year number one we're resetting our cap making everything work the way we need it to work now and then they'll start kicking the can down the road like they had been afterwards all right here we go quarterback Derek Carr yes Derek Carr now the backup is not tesm Hill I know I thought it was too it is not tesm Hill that is Jack horer then you've got Spencer Rattler as the third string your running backs Alvin Kamar Jamal Williams Kendra Miller your wide receivers Chris you've got rashim Shahed at Perry Cedric Wilson the other St Brown not Aman rawman ra then you got uh bub means you got Jaan Johnson as a tight end and taes Hill as a tight end with posteraro third string you're looking really solid at spots on the offensive line tiis fua the left tackle with Landon young backing up Lucas Patrick the solid guard with Nick um Sal backing him up Eric McCoy is your Center Caesar Ruiz with Kyle heagle backing him up Trevor Penning with um don't want to butcher this name but Udo backing him up now this is where the team gets old and yes I legitimately mean old the defense is older and I think that's most of the issue right now it's a 43 starting with Cameron Jordan Peyton Turner as your left ends n Nathan Shepard Brian Bree as your um tackles Colleen Sanders Christian Boyd as your other tackles Carl Granderson and Chase young as your right ends then your linebackers Pete Werner Kik Houston Demario Davis DeMarco Jackson Willie gay and free ogi let's just be honest they're older you can't have every everybody being old they're older there's not a lot of Youth sitting in that linebacking core or on the front line and that will be a downfall they're going to wear down fast I don't think the defense is going to hold up I think it may be one of the worst there is in the league their Corners Paul sadoo Rico Payton the backup Jordan Howen Jonathan Abram are your strong safeties Tyran Matthew Will Harris are your free safeties Marshon Latimore with Kool-Aid the new rookie from Alabama on the other Corner then you've got elante Taylor and Shamir Jean Charles as your nickel backs now they aren't sure what's going to happen necessarily with the kicker and the punter uh they do have two signed on both of them right now so your kicker at this point in time is Blake group Lou Hedley is the punter and then Charlie Smith is the backup along with Matthew hayball the backup punter so there's the New Orleans Saints really I I do believe that the Panthers will be able to potentially fight with them to not be last place in this Division I I do I think that's a viable possibility I I don't see why not TR truthfully really I do not see why there why that could not be the case it's and it's not a great year for quarterbacks you've heard me say this I don't see it being a fantastic year for quarterbacks I think there's going to be a couple that will surprise us like there always is but there's no Sure Fire number one quarterback that you know will work in the NFL you're not going to have six quarterbacks drafted in the first round next year they don't have the potential that these quarterbacks do they're going to be okay but not going to be the guy you call the star now the stars are hopefully all aligning for the Atlanta Falcons they made some very interesting moves off seon and the draft and truthfully played a doublesided plan they really did play the plan of now and for the future and they did it well new coach Raheem Morris I believe he will be coach of the year I will be uh I believe it'll be between him and Jim Harbaugh at the end of the season but uh Raheem Morris doing what he does they win the division make the playoffs home playoff game I believe that is that is the threshold and he will be Coach of the Year all right let's jump into it their quarterback for the 2024 season looks to be Kirk Cousins Michael penx Jr and Taylor hinei are your QBs Bon Robinson Tyler Aly jce McKellen are your running backs your wide receivers are Drake London Darnell Mooney Ray Ray McLoud James Washington Casey Washington and Kad Danel Hodge now I will say that that was not the original they already have an injury that's taken out one of their receivers I am forgetting who it is right now but they already had a veteran that was taken out but nonetheless Drake London the Darnell Mooney pickup I actually like maybe he I I'm hoping he gets a fresh start um they may still make a trade for another receiver so watch watch that by the time training camp is up Kyle Pitts is the tiend with Charlie Warner and John Fitzpatrick you got Jake Matthews and Barry Wesley as your left tackles your left guards or mat Matthew Bergeron and Javon gin your Center is Drew dolman with Ryan nule backing him up Chris Lindstrom is Your Right Guard with Kyle Hinton the backup your right tackle is Caleb McGary with storm Norton backing him up the offensive line is top 10 according to everybody if Kirk Cousins has time Kirk Cousins will find the receivers that are open Kyle pittz Drake London and Bon Robinson will have a great year with a quarterback like that now you move to the defensive side of the ball and this is why the trade or this is why the pick for penck threw everybody for an absolute Loop because we all knew that they were going to be switching to the 34 defense bring in a defense over from the Rams so we knew the 34 defense was coming in I I was going to bet money I didn't so I didn't lose anything I was going to bet money that they would have drafted Turner they went with a future pick remember the 2025 draft is not strong so if something happens to cousins this year and you're like we need to get our guy next year it ain't happening so they played they played a card and my guess is it's going to work really really well but their defense their 34 Grady Jarrett is their starting left end with kavus Street as the backup nose tackles David onetta and Rook um or Orono oh so many O's on that name Orono is uh are your two nose tackles currently then you got Zach Harrison who was a nose tackle he was a defensive tackle mov to right end with taquan and Graham backing him up then you've got your linebackers Lorenzo Carter Kaden Ellis Troy Anderson and Arnold ellerby or sorry ebty not erby lby is somewhere else te Betty so the team in and of itself looks good front seven on defense don't look bad your backup linebacker Jade uh JD bertran James Smith Williams Nate lman Deone Harris your Corners AJ Terell and Kevin King Richie Grant DeMarco um headman then you've got your free safety this is a guy I think is outrageously underrated outrageously underrated Jessie Bates Micah ABY is his backup got Mike Hughes the other corner with Clark Phillips backing him up and then you've got the Nickelback D Alford and the second string Antoine Hamilton senior I know many are wondering if their secondary can hold up it's a valid question it really is it's a valid question no no issues with that question whatsoever very valid and it's something that I'm sure everybody will be watching absolutely sure everybody will be watching but for ontents and purposes this team is set up to be able to win and they are set up to be able to win now their kicker who is their kicker young Wong who Brady pinion is their punter and that ladies and gentlemen is the entire NFC South the entire NFC South dep charts all the way down in one podcast I think that's what I'm going to try to do for the rest of these get them down to one podcast get it into um so we can get into the football talk because we got a lot of projections um season standings what what's going on what people are saying we got a lot of things to be able to talk about so we're going to get into those and keep moving right along and that's going to be it for this one the NFC South tell you right now my projection is flat out I believe the Atlanta Falcons are going to win it 100% if the Atlanta Falcons do not win the division it will be H it will be a wasted off season it will be a wasted off season now if Kirk Cousins gets injured I'll give them a little bit of leeway I think they take a step back as they're waiting for Michael pennx to grow into what he's going to be I think that opens the door for the bucks absolutely but if cousins is healthy there is no reason in the world that the Falcons should not be number one in the NFC South all right guys that's going to be it
