Where the Chiefs Get an F on Their Report Card

in the last three years JC treder kind of started this NFL PA report card kind of on training staff your weight room staff your facilities kind of as a whole your locker rooms the craziest thing you would have got an A+ for sure say the NBA players aren't tough when worried about this huh really uh the meal had too much salt in it I'm going to give them an F we're supposed to just hang out in dungeons all day is what you think you think this is come to work go to meetings go to practice and go home they deser people deserve nice things sit in your cold tub make a lot of money a lot of money for this day it's the owners right the owners decide how they want their facility to look like who they hire the staff the player everybody they're they call the shots right this is just the players opinion of our facilities and our people everything's public perception in this league so you let a couple FS fly on the on on a team now we've played on some teams that are on the bottom of this list and all of a sudden you have a couple FS go out there all of a sudden the Arizona Cardinals are making all sorts of changes changing the dieticians redoing the facility so it had its intended consequences you get 32 billionaires competing against one another becomes like a cold war and players benefits there's really no oh sh it's great for the players I mean it's it's important too because if you're on the fence if I'm trying to recruit him to play for my team and you're trying to get him for your team and the money's close and I have a crappy facility and you got he's going to go with you yeah you know what I mean unless the city is yeah especially especially in today's day and age right like these kids are in this social media age right like you go to these college facilities and they're constantly one-upping each other's facilities right like pretty soon Oregon the Alabama's all every five years it seems like they're redoing their facilities and you're used to a certain standard right now you go to an NFL team and you're like wait I got to buy I got to I got to buy my own lunch on the way out of this thing like every other team's getting their lunch paid for I got to go work out in a waight room that's the size of this patio and floors coming up I mean I'm not speaking about anybody in specifics but um a little run in with the local team floor is coming up in Arizona what is it I think it's been fixed I think I think it has been fixed but that was the whole point of this right the whole point of this was listen we're constantly under a microscope as players right we're constantly we're getting told we're getting there's Scouts right and everything it's all about accountability accountability accountability but why not on the business side right and I think that was the biggest thing that they've tried to yeah I don't think I don't think NFL teams will ever have the facilities that some of these top programs in college have I don't think that was really the goal but it's like what it's Jay's point of you're recruiting these guys they have options with this NFL PA report guard now all of a sudden guys are talking players talk oh yeah we all know what the facilities are like in the places that we play and we see all these other ones like there's some out there that are phenomenal right these these teams that are at the top of the list and you brought up a good point talking about like as the value of these franchises go up and up and up right and these you know the owners are making a ton it's a great sport all that right talk about the this vote that the owners have at the owners meetings you know potentially bringing along like private Equity investors to maybe boost some of the stuff that we're talking about this all came about because the teams that are inherited versus is the teams that were purchased so you have David terer come into Carolina all of a sudden he can just drop a few billion dollars he's firing coaches after a week he doesn't care he'll cut him a check for a few million dollars he's used to that hedge fund private Equity space so all the teams that were graded towards the top were the teams that were purchased by businessmen Browns Browns Jimmy has Broncos Broncos are up there like building a brand new facility state of the art some of the worst grades they had in there and in you know Kansas City F minus for the owner and it just goes to show you like the inherited teams might not be putting as much back into the into the business they're like hey this is your my only cash Revenue generator I'm going to take as much money out of as possible so what they're doing is to increase and this is getting voted on as we speak to increase the buyer pool of these teams they might be opening up to private Equity so that's that's the the bonus for some of these teams to have like a liquid event but the other the other caveat is now these businesses might come in and strip this strip teams down and just try to squeeze every ounce and every dollar out of it so now 18 games for sure is coming the International Teams for sure are coming Revenue becomes the most important thing so I don't know how that all ends up shaking out whe whether the owners realize that butterfly effect or not who won the last two Super Bowls Chiefs do you think uh the owner looked at that grade said I don't think he cares those Lombard mean something right those R those Rings yeah I think he cares you don't think that when they go to owners meetings and he gets an F minus and he's sitting across from some of the guys that it doesn't get to him a little bit everyone out there we're talking about it right now when I was at Washington it's pretty sweet we got bad grades too in our facilities and our training room and all so we built this uh sweet uh Cairo chamber and these sleep tanks and these massage rooms and all that stuff how you guys do the next year 0 and5 and I got [Music] fired I'm sure Washington will do a lot of great things but Josh Harris is a new owner and uh I'm sure they're great but it'll take some time right you can't just build a city tomorrow or build a facility tomorrow so take some time but it does have an impact on um your team for sure because you spent so much time in the building last thing you want your players just walk into a dump and feel uncomfortable and air conditioner doesn't work and the food's terrible you want your players to be as comfortable as possible so when they get to the meetings they're focused on football not on Petty things or little things that you know scrambled eggs yeah exactly right that's right I just wanted to match up right yeah you want to call this group of family and you care about us as players you care about our families you care like I just want it to match up right like let's have a place where the wives and the kids can go watch a game and not get beer tossed on them every game having to sit having them sit out I mean Philly that's going to happen no matter what you Philadelphia the answer on a lot of teams I was on was like well buy a suet buy a sweet like why yeah right like I guess you could but to me it's just more like if if that's up front like if I'm just speaking here but if Kansas City is like look we win championships here I don't care y'all figure it out then at least it's no it's known it's there right my thing is the away game facilities so you're used to getting ready for a game a certain way being able to get the hot tub cold tub I remember going to New Orleans Saint stadium and having to get a trash can as a hot tub they have kitty pool commanders had like Kitty pools and and the team shower so yeah you want to get in the hot tub before the game there you go there should be like a standard treatment of like hey we're all getting ready to play a professional game people are paying aund like TV rides paying a hund million dollars to watch this game let us get let's put a hot tub in every Stadium let's put a cold tub for after the games let's have enough tables to get taped on like there should be a minimum standard when you when you travel and you go on the road you guys couldn't have played in Arena League I played eight years in Arena League we didn't have any hot tubs in the locker room we got beard poured on us on the sideline while we're playing you B out though we're tougher I'm a tougher generation you guys you know what I mean yeah that's right you guys couldn't have handled it that's right geez we got picked up at the airport in U-Haul I mean that's how it worked out you're like that coach on uh what was it um on Netflix that madeup high school oh yeah yeah you're Bishop sycamore's next head coach I like that that's perfect I don't really care I I understand the league as a whole it's just more of the expectations if I know what to expect and that all matches up then let's do it but if you don't have this and this and this and this and you're supposedly pouring into us and and you it's a family and you want the family involved and you to move here to this city and get involved in the community and all these things like there should be some expectations when you walk in the door for sure it could be a competitive Advantage too obviously the Chiefs doesn't matter because they got enough minus but for the majority of the league it can be yeah right it's keeping guys healthy getting them on a field longer having better treatment facilities right yeah that's an important factor especially in football nowadays you got to have the best doctors the best trainers and the best facilities to keep players healthy and able to play 18 games 17 games yes and the most the best teams are the ones that are the most healthy throughout the course of the year so for them to get F minus is shocking because they stayed relatively healthy throughout the entire year right for the most part well you have V Andy Reid that are kind of running the football Ops there so they kind of probably take care of the players in terms of hey practice schedule is going to be a little bit later I know Andy goes hard in training camp but when it turns around to the season I heard it's a pretty good schedule for the players so that's where they're able to to to take care of their own bodies there I would assume winning is probably the most important thing amongst all this right that's number one but I think whenever we're comparing winning to winning we're comparing the Buffalo Bills to the Kansas City Chiefs or the Miami playoff teams to playoff teams right I think what you pour into the organization based off these report cards can be a major recruiting tool
