G just like that they move in front it's one nothing that's a fun way to take the lead just hit one out of the [Applause] park well he put a really nice swing on that one and everything was on time took a direct path to the ball excellent extension and just drove it out of here nothing better than when the ball jumps off your bat like that Salvador Perez stands in now and watches strike one part of the order coming through now and with one home run already in this inning they're definitely looking to do some more damage next pitch is outside one out base is empty misses two and [Applause] one swing in a Miss as he was out front that time struck him out without a swing throws him with the heater at the knees two outs spes is empty and now the first baseman Vinnie pasquantino swing and a highfly ball to left berdugo gets under it and that is that Royals strike first on this solo Homer it's an early one nothing lead you're dialed into the show back for more from the Bronx and on the hill Cole Reagan Chris how about a Scouting Report well he's got great stuff but what makes his stuff even better is his delivery hides the ball for a very long time high leg kick and by the time the hitter sees it it's right on top of it bottom of the first and stepping in for the Yankees DJ lahu that catches the zone for a strike and it's and one [Applause] and ball one to [Applause] lameu Off the Mark there and the count two and one and now the Lefty ripped on the ground to second one up one down here's a look at Aaron Moon's line line up for the Yankees already trailing by run in this one they'll be looking to get on the scoreboard early on as well well it's just the one run so not too big a hill to climb but yeah if they can answer back in this inning or at least in the next couple that'll maybe settle everyone into this ball game and that includes their own starter on the mount s and a ball driven pretty well out towards left Center makes the catch and a couple of quick outs batting third the right field W here's wano [Applause] Soo outside ball one [Applause] two out bace is [Applause] empty and another [Applause] ball not even close there now three and [Applause] one and that's ball it's tough after falling behind a hitter two balls and no strikes now at least he gets a fresh start against a new batter but he needs to get back into the strike zone and start pitching with conviction John Carlos Stanton to the plate now that's and the first pitch misses for ball one [Applause] kicks and fires swing and a ball popped up Perez drifts towards it and that is that the Yanks leave one and it remains one nothing new inning getting started Hunter Renfro at the plate rro 32 years old he joined the team as a free agent beer back to work and that's off the Inside Edge and it's w to know [Applause] right through there for a strike looks like he's just sizing him up there really good pitch to hit but he took it all the way sometimes guys just want to set their timing later on in the game that may be a Pitch that he turns on foul ball [Applause] there and the righty deals foul ball still a one and two count righty delivers swings through it and that's a strike out I'm not sure that was the exact location the pitcher wanted but it worked he got the swing and miss and I'm sure a bit of sigh relief after seeing that one go through the Zone this one popped up lahu gets under it he's got it two away that was a good hard fast ball with some nice ride up in the zone right there hitter looked like he was on it but I think that velocity at the end just beat him instead of a line drive or something hit deep it's a pop up and an easy out for the [Applause] defense Nelson Velasquez at the plate now that's ball one next offering misses now two and0 and the right-hander deals he was late there strike one as a hitter you got to learn something from that pitch you clearly wasn't timed up on the fast ball in a two count you have to be ready to do damage and that one Finds Its way through and that keeps the inning alive really nice job staying up the Middle with his approach he didn't try to do too much with the pitch just shot it through the infield and now it's Kyle [Applause] Isbell and a good eye there help one and0 [Applause] left hand batter weights that one is hammered right field back there po just side of the wall one hit one left we go to the bottom of inning number two it's the Royals one and the Yankees nothing here at new Yan stadium in the Bronx bottom of the second and here is Anthony Rizo [Applause] Rizo here comes a pitch that's in there strike one man I mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was up the middle into the Outfield base hit man aboard on the leadoff single seems like he got exactly what he was looking right there couldn't get any but he smoked that ball back up the middle timing was just perfect got great wood on it and there was just no chance for the infielders with how hard he hit it Gaber Torres up to hit [Applause] in there at the knees one [Applause] one and he deals shot missed Ed Drummond our umpire behind the plate in this one yeah boo he's a really fair umpire both the pitchers and the the hitters so standard Strike Zone he's consistent with it and the great thing is you don't see players questioning the calls too much so that's a good thing in this day eight oh now this one's High inde deep right back there on it way down he powers that one out of here and that's how they take the lead it's 21 listen to these fans this place is absolutely buzzing right now you can feel the energy all the way up here in our broadcast [Applause] boo that's exactly the pitch he was looking for crushes it and hits it out of the ball CL here's Alex Verdugo yeah he swings and misses and it's nothing in one could be tough to bounce back after big home run but nobody on nobody out you just have to treat it as a fresh [Applause] [Music] inning nobody on nobody out a pair of runs across in the inning bottom half of inning number two and down on strikes he goes and that's the first out nice recovery after giving up the Homer well he went up there trying to be aggressive that's for sure hacking at those first two pitches but clearly that last one fooled him he could have been sitting on something else entirely but you want to be able to adjust on 0 and two and at least get a swing off when it's in the zone maybe choke up maybe spread out your stance a little bit you got to give the guy credit on the mound though he went right after it at the batter now Anthony vulpi [Applause] and there's a foul ball here's the 02 swing and a popup foul territory for The Catcher And there's two down batting n the catcher Jose trino here's Jose trino this guy one of the best defensive catcher is going you talk about framing the ability to block catch and throw he is at the top of the game and that's in there at the knees really good athlete and many times we talk about you know the feet of infielders this catcher as well really quick feet he's able to recognize the pitch see the trajectory and get into a spot where he can block those balls and keep them from going to the back stop kick sandio and that one is lifted in the air Melendez brings it in for the third out glver Torres with the big fly for New York and it's now a 2-1 ball game you're watching Major League Baseball on the show back at Yankee Stadium here's the third baseman number 11 melcia really impressive with the way he frames the way that he sets it up because sometimes those pitches are off the plate but because he sets up and presents it so well he still strikes for his [Applause] pitcher that's in there a twoa and that's to the dir after scor Ron this is where you're looking for that shut down inning get that hot team back in there to swing the bats the one two on the ground lahu over to First leadoff man retired here in the third so the batting order turns over here's the left fielder MJ [Applause] Melendez that one ripped that's back there can't get there and now maybe extra bases and into second with one away that's a double well that started and ended pretty quickly no messing around right there A lot of times in today's game right fielders are able to get to a ball that stays in like that but he hit that one pretty well and if he hits it just a little bit different on the barrel it's out of here easily but there's nothing wrong with the extra bases right there one down now here's Bobby Whit Jr he's already homered here in this [Applause] one now a pop up on the infield lameu under it nabs it and there's two down got the pitch that he wanted just a little bit quick front shoulder open back side collapsed a little bit and the launch angle not where he needed it to be and now it's Salvador Perez to the play he was a strike out victim his first time that one not close ball [Applause] [Music] one wouldn't chase that time oh usually a high level of confidence when you're facing a young pitcher out there on the mound in this situation aead 2 let put himself at a really good spot next offering in there for a strike and it's two and one the Royals trailing by a run we're here in the top half of inning number [Applause] three popped up foul territory behind the plate and they get Perez for the out and that is that so one hit is all they get we head now to the home half of inning number three it's the Yankees two and the Royals one back at Yankee Stadium set for the bottom of the third up to the pl steps DJ Leu back to work right through there for a strike [Applause] and that's outside one and [Applause] one right side hard hit and he takes it himself for the out thefield number 99 ER J and now big number 99 Aaron judge flyed to left his first time that one misses and that is ball one and that drops in for a strike popped up Pas quentino drifts towards it squeezes it two down now batt right fielder wo now he reached on a walk his first [Applause] time there's a strike [Applause] ripped to third but handled and that'll end the inning down in order go the Yankees but they still lead it two to [Applause] one back in the Bronx John Shelby with Chris Singleton and set to lead off off the fourth Vinnie pasquantino pasano and a pitch F back ourway and that's out of play [Applause] and he hits a ground ball right side Torres handles and a quick out number one now batting right field Hunter R now it's Hunter rro he's over for [Applause] one out to short vulpi throw goes the first two quick outs here in the top of the four the batter number 19 second Bas Michael Michael Massie steps in for the Royals 0 for one so [Applause] far ball one no strikes the Yankees leading by a run top half of inning number four right side collected by Torres fires over to First and it's a one two three inning nothing doing for the Royals and our score remains [Applause] 2-1 bottom of the fourth now here's the Yankees cleanup hitter John Carlos St John car as he turns on the rubber with that good live arm delivers fought off [Applause] foul and a big swing in a miss it was bumpy in the early going for the Lefty but he settled into a really nice [Music] [Applause] Groove got him swinging good good late cut for the strike out there that thing really got in on him know the cutter isn't really a huge swing and Miss pitch most of the time because it's not really meant to move a whole lot you're just trying to miss the big part of the barrel and maybe get some weak contact but that one right there did a whole lot more than that that was a really good pitch Anthony Rizzo steps to the plate just off the outside edge and that's ball one leftand hitter Waits nope two balls no strike just missed [Applause] one down base is empty and it's fou [Applause] away and a foul ball Bas is empty one away we're here in the bottom of the fourth good plate appearance there able to take the walk oh they tried to nibble right there and just missed his spot didn't offer it now he has somebody to worry about first here's CL Torres he's already homered in this [Applause] game and he can't come up with it pass quintino toss the second on the first save so they get one but a really nice try there well that was a double play ball but the Bobble unfortunately prevented him from being able to get two but a good job to stay with it and make sure you got at least one now the left fielder Alex Verdugo struck out looking in his first it back and that one's a little bit low ball one Torres off of first with two away right through there for a [Applause] strike next offering is in for a [Applause] strike swing and Miss struck him out and that'll do it one left for the Yankees as they're unable to add to their 2-1 lead we go to the top of the fifth so here's the Royals DH Nelson Velasquez Velasquez in his second season 25 years old and he was born in Puerto Rico in the dirt one and0 the bit behind with that swing it's strike one and he was really Tardy on that fast ball great job of setting him up by throwing the curveball add some velocity to it on the next pitch can't catch up on a bounce right side and that chance handled tosses to first one up one down so up now for Kansas City Kyle Isbell flyed to his first [Music] time fast ball for a [Applause] strike Bunting and it's right in front of the plate throw on to Rizzo and the first two set down in the top of the F perhaps he rushed just a little bit didn't set the angle as the infield is back right there and that's pretty much gimme for a bump base hit just didn't quite put it where he wanted to right there number 11 stands in here leaves that one off the inside the Yanks up by a run and we're at the top of the fif that one finds the Zone strike one the guy's going this good he's retired seven in a row you got to step out of the box fake bun do something to break it up two outs that one back up the middle and it gets [Applause] through just kept simple player with the middle of the infield and took it back where it came from and there's just no one there to knock it down so the Royals batting order turns over and the batter now MJ Melendez that's to Third gathers and throws to First and that is the inning so no runs here in a base hit no errors and one left last half of the fifth coming up it's the Yankees two and the Royals one back now in the bronos ready to go for the last half of the inning stepping in for the Yankees Anthony vul as the Lefty gets to work and the pitch is in for a strike it's and [Applause] one and there's a [Applause] ball the one- one is fouled [Applause] off and a ball in two strikes the short stop takes a [Applause] ball back up the middle in a base [Music] hit just kind of slice that one into Center good extension on that swing took the pitch on the outside part of the plate and drove it up the middle he let it try [Music] [Applause] Chas here's the Yankees catcher now Jose trino runner on the goal cut on and Miss tag sa the throw from Perez too late [Applause] moved to Second and he's back in [Applause] safely the [Applause] pitch bounce to the left side and it goes just foul pretty impressive we haven't seen that pitch from him much but he's got a really good feel when he throws [Applause] it next offering misses going to count one and two runner in scoring position nobody out last half of inning number five and another ball and the slider just misses good slider down and in can be so hard to get on plane with you're better off taking that pitch man it's second on the ground to the left and foul ball eighth pitch of the at back coming [Applause] up flyball down the line automatic double now as it hops the wall in foul ground as a run scores it puts a great swing on that pitch and drives home the run and that was always going to be a double but the bounce over the wall just took the guesswork out of it right away it was a nice swing now it's lameu look to [Applause] hit that Miss f a lot and it's one and0 Travino at second with nobody out and a foul ball [Applause] and the pitch that's ball Bullpen action for the Royals Chris Stratton getting loose out there shriber warming up as well [Applause] that one way inside the kick the 3-2 fights it off he'll see another no outs runner on [Applause] second now he's desperately looking for that swing and Miss he's going to have to just change speeds a little bit try to move it around create just a little bit of Illusion at the end the pitch cut on and Miss struck him out he didn't make it easy for him on the mound but they still get the strikeout it's Aaron judge now s he's got a history of coming through into big spots I know I like to talk about I'm not sure whether clutch actually exists but you look at the numbers and this guy always seems to deliver in no [Applause] spots the pitch well I think it's the ability to assess the situation understanding what the pitcher has what trying to get people out on and then being able to use the entire [Applause] field swings through that one for strike two if you're a guy that can only hit to one field then you're really not going to be able to come through in clutch situations because pitchers are going to adjust but because he's able to use the entire field that's why he's so successful in these situations runner at second here one gone that misses the zone and that's ball three ground ball up the [Applause] middle now the tag at third and they got him good fade and sinking action of that change up got that to roll over the right and now it's [Music] [Applause] wodo and a foul [Applause] ball the1 set field Isbell under it and that's the inning so they pick up a run on two hits no errors in a man left we're through five Yankees three and the Royals oneing next up for the Royals Bobby wit Jr he had a big swing for these guys way back in the first inning yeah Bo didn't waste any time in this one the solo shot really got his team going and he's looking for more right [Applause] here beater back to work inside corner that's a strike and it's all [Applause] one and ball one [Applause] wouldn't chase that time on its way to the corner stto really on his horse for Dives and makes the catch bonotto does more than just packs a big stick special player defensively as we can see on that diving catch he took away a base hit and now the catcher comes up to him Salvador Perez just [Applause] missed the yanes holding on to a two-run lead and we're the top half of the sixth that's off the Mark and the count is two and0 pretty Frugal guy he is very efficient with the pitch count in this [Applause] one one down base is empty right through there for a [Applause] strike check swing he went too far and it's a strike two two now now one [Applause] missed and there's ball for how big a deal is that walk I don't think it's a big deal because if you pitch to the previous hitter with the power he has he can hit home run I think it was a calculated walk we'll see how it pays off here pass quentino up for the third time and takes ball one man at first one [Applause] away there goes the runner that's ripped and this one could be extra bases Perez around second headed for third coming home he scores and it's a one-run game comes through with the RBI really good swing right there you got to pitch the he knew he could handle allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws one out runner at second and to the plate for Kansas City Hunter [Music] Renfro and he pumps it a strike man it's second and that one fouled [Applause] off and a pitch just misses there action in the pen down there Tommy kley getting loose out there for Aaron Boon Hamilton getting cranked up as well the pitch swing and a miss he struck him out chase the fast up the ladder for strike three so digging in Michael mie this is what stat nerds like myself might call a high leverage situation yeah P not sure what the numbers say but clearly and B could change the course of this game dramatically pitches in there that's strike one two outs and one in scoring [Applause] position and right back to the mound in plenty of time to First that ends the inning and they limit the damage KC gets one on the double it's now a 32 ball game it's Major League Baseball on the show back in New York and now it's John Carlos St so right-handed Slugger at the plate Chrissy is surprised that the Lefty is still in there extremely I mean you've got arms down in the bullpen and there's somebody down there that can match up try to get out of this Jam ripped but it curls foul the beauty of his skill set as a pitcher is the breaking his stuff doesn't go away when he's tired I mean his pitches always seem to have life just doesn't matter if it's early or late he doesn't make it easy for the batter one ball two strike one two now gets a piece there we'll do it again clearly trying to stay back a little bit longer for that change up as he fouls that fast ball back the L in the pitch and that skips in [Applause] [Applause] dirt and that's off the Inside Edge and now three and two well he's having a tough time getting a pitch by him as a hitter you feel pretty confident that you're seeing different pitches still able to make some type of contact 32 there's a swing and a drop that carry him and it is gone John Carlos Stanton goes deep and they tack on to their lead it's 42 he kept swinging and it paid off well that was a battle boo and he just kept taking his Cuts finally squared one [Applause] up well Bo I feel like we're seeing more of this these days than we ever have before you got high veloc on the mound you've got stronger hitters with really good pass to the baseball so much power in this sport opposite field home run I tell you what I feel like I see at least one every day and that was an incredible job to keep that ball Fair here comes the skipper and we're going to see a pitching change in this spot won't go any further we'll be back in a minute with a new arm on the mound new pitcher in the game for the Royals Josh Taylor just trying to keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game and up next for New York Anthony Rizzo and first off ring is fouled off always exciting to see a latoff home run and an inning kind of gets the offense fired up and you start to expect a big inning [Applause] he swings and fouls one [Applause] off the2 swing and a miss and he struck him out one away well when you throw the same pitch back to back that's how you want to do it set him up in the strike zone then extend a little bit from there and see if you can get him to chase nicely done with the slider right there Here Comes glaber Torres and he's already left his mark on this game he certainly has boo a two-run shot in the second inning and that made an early impact on this game in a big [Applause] way first pitch doesn't find the [Applause] zone and another ball two and0 and a strike to [Applause] gaver one run acrossing the frame so far here in the bottom of the six that one hit to right Renfro sizing this one up and puts the squeeze on that one and they're two down the leftfielder number 24 and next for New York Alex berdugo who's so for two with a pair of strikeouts [Applause] misses inside and that's ball one and here it comes on the ground right side guys and he can't hang on fantastic effort but that extends the inning 11 two outs s at first Anthony vul stepping in now for the [Applause] Yankees there's a strike at the knees oh one Verdugo the runner at first with two gone it's a slider for a strike perhaps not quite ready to hit first two pitches by him for a couple of strikes now back is against the walls going to have to figure something out and figure it out quickly two outs one ball two strike I don't like to say he wasted a pitch I think that was a purpose pitch change the eye level have him look up now go back exactly where you want to go [Applause] got him looking that's a strike out one scores in the inning coming on this solo home run it's now 42 back after this on the show and welcome back to the ballpark all set for the start of the inning and now here is Nelson Velasquez the pitch that one fouled [Applause] [Music] off the [Music] 01 popped up makes the catch and there's one gone oh that's a frustrating into the atat for the hitter right there I mean that pitch was right down the middle I think he got a little too excited came out of his mechanics and instead of driving that ball somewhere he popped it up unfortunate for him ISB batting with one down takes a strike the Royals down by a pair here in the top half of inning number seven late swing fouled to the left righty to the plate that misses and it's one and [Applause] two would chase that time [Applause] [Music] the why to kick the pitch and that one missing [Applause] low and there's two away well just a beautiful fast on the inside corner for that backwards k right there I think the hitter saw it all the way coming from that opposite arm angle so I got to think he was looking away and just got locked up by the stuff boring in on his hands number 11 now the Box comes up empty with a swing there that's in there and it's on two that curveball has been a big pitch for him today he's been able to get ahead in the count with it he's also been able to use it to put guys away two downman ball one one ball two strikes count misses just off the outside edge I think that was a strike that's one you always want as a pitcher down at the knees and it looked to me like he's barking that's a strike doesn't change the call but sometimes it helps to let that frustration out a little bit and a swing in a miss and that's that KC down in order still down by a count of four- two so the Royals bring on a new arm John Shriver pretty tight game so they're looking for Quality pitches out of them right here got to do his best to keep the score right where it is for the yanes Jose trino stepping in now for the Yankees one for [Music] two the pitch swing in a Miss movement in the bullpen Will Smith the left-handed reliever appears to be getting [Applause] loose next offering misses down and away [Music] right-handed [Applause] [Music] reliever that misses two and two good spot there but didn't get the strike at the knees and doesn't seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as as he tries to get a better sense of the Umpire Strike Zone and a pitch and a foul ball he stays [Applause] alive righty delivers and that's downstairs and [Applause] outside swing and a miss struck him [Applause] out now B back to the top of the Yankee order here's DJ lameu [Music] L wouldn't chase that [Applause] time and that's in for a strike one down base is empty this one in the air right field rro getting an angle on it no trouble here puts it away for the out two up two down got love watching an outfielder take on the wall to make that play and it's a lot easier to watch from up here because that can be painful in the end you know the Wall's coming up on you quickly so you have to maintain concentration and able to make that catch and hold on to it after contact judge stands in now looks at that one inside next offering is in for a strike two down nobody on here in the bottom of the [Applause] seven and [Applause] downstairs two and one on Judge and that's down it away Juan sto on deck for the [Applause] Yankees two outs and judge spoils that [Applause] [Music] one outside and that is ball four one of the things about that two out walk the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead so B down the line or into the Gap produce a two out RBI and those are the best that is if you are the offensive side of [Applause] it and there's a foul [Applause] ball judge leads off first with two down to the inning wobber to right field with that G and they add on it's 62 that's their third home run of the game they're having a lot of fun at the played in this one they've got the long ball working for them on [Applause] autopilot they thought he could a high fast ball by him but he was ready for it look at how quickly he jumped on that pitch joh Carlos Stanton at the plate one for [Music] [Applause] three and first off ring is fouled off [Applause] High Fly ball pretty well struck out towards Right Center Isbell going back and caught on the warning track not quite enough behind that one two-run Blast for the Yankees this inning it's now 62 it's major league baseball and it's on the show back here in New York here's the left fielder MJ Melendez and the right hter back to work breaking ball inside ball one activity in the bullpen for the Yankees Victor Gonzalez getting loose out there for Aaron Boone kanley a right-hander loosening up as well next offering in there for a strike strike [Applause] one the wi to the pitch that's a little bit low two one that one is Absol absolutely belted that's back there and that one is out of here he flexes his power with that swing and they inch closer it's [Applause] [Applause] 63 knew what pitch he wanted to hit spit on some other pitches in this at back was very patient and it paid [Applause] off Aaron Boon makes his way out of the Dugout and he will make a move to the bullpen Clayton beer gives way and he leaves with the lead after giving them some decent Innings we'll be back with a new pitcher in a moment new pitcher for the Yankees Jonathan Lis he's into the game with the Bas is [Applause] empty Bobby wit Jr steps in for the Royals and remember he was absolutely robbed of a base hit last time up just missed well it's critical right here that they bear down and turn in some quality at bats try to chip away at that lead because if it gets to the ninth that closer is coming [Applause] [Music] [Applause] in next one off the plate inside two and0 with the big bats coming up and a home run already surrendered he's really going to have to execute against these next couple of batters two fought off [Applause] foul e e
