Grace Randolph Says Beetlejuice 2 Is Problematic?! Critics RAGE as Non-Woke Movies WIN OVER Women!

it is the most anti-woke domestic box office weekend we have seen in a very long time movies are now saying it's okay to be a dude and audiences are rewarding them kindly women seem to love it too but Critics on the other hand well they are not agreeing they're raging and it turns out their reviews are aging poorly we'll show you what it's all about Beetlejuice is anti-woman and at first I resented the movie for putting me in this position I like man couldn't this just be a fun movie why do you have to throw this curveball that I just that I have to deal [Music] with hello ladies and gentlemen welcome back to the place that makes sense it is the pro Channel we're happy to have you here explaining entertainment keeping you ahead of the culture curve well it's what we do joining us to help make that possible is Marvin the movie monster Marvin welcome back oh it's a pleasure to be back I'm really happy about our our topic this uh today and uh ready to dive right into the most anti-woke box office we've seen in quite some time folks I'll set it all up for you uh Beetle juu Beetlejuice not not loved by the critics and we've got a fascinating uh phenomenon happening here now remember that we gave Beetlejuice beetlejuice a 9.4 out of 10 here on this channel and that was indeed with women being a part of the uh decision-making process but if we take a look at this all critics this time or top critics actually top critics now lower than all critics which is fascinating uh top critics tend to be people who are a little bit more stodgy a little bit more institution and they do not like Beetlejuice Beetlejuice well that's going to play right into what is happening let's take a look uh out of Forbes Tim lammer is the author here Beetlejuice Beetle Juice Barling towards $100 million box office debut it says Tim Burton's Beetlejuice starring Michael Keaton and wona Ryder and Jenna Orga and William def is Conjuring up big box office numbers in its opening weekend of course this is the long waited sequel to The Classic 1988 supernatural comedy smash beju Keaton Ryder kathern oara back you've got Ortega you've got thorough you've got beluchi you've got William defo all of them do a fantastic job it talks about the huge uh beginning to this a $42 million domestic Friday and that included of course Thursday night previews which was huge but guess what Marvin women love Beetle Juice and the critics specifically one critic Miss Grace herself who will Grace the screen in a moment they're screaming about this they hate this movie uh this is by Pamela mclin talk it's out of The Hollywood Reporter Beetle jeice scaring up near record September opening could cross $100 million I want to get into the cross tabs here I think this is really really important so this is going to be the number two uh film debut for any September ever in cinema that's a huge deal it's going to be behind it but this is still a massive win and the budget on this is tiny Marvin only $100 million in production and then you've got uh marketing spend but I'm here to tell you if this has a 3X you're looking at a film that could easily cross $600 million on the global uh box office and if you're doing that and this thing costs maybe Buck 50 $200 million total uh you're looking at you know you got to think they're gonna be asking Tim Burton to make a third and and that would be very interesting to see a movie that's called Beetle Juice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice yeah I assumed when the title for this was Beetlejuice Beetlejuice that they had a third one planned that was Beetlejuice Beetlejuice beetlejuice right now I know that this movie is not for everybody uh it's got a B+ on Cinema score I actually don't think that's going to hurt it at all for those of you who don't know what Cinema score is you want to have an A you want to have an A minus uh that's a it's a good indicator of how your your film is going to perform its legs that's what they call it uh how how well it's going to perform long term at the box office and the reason I don't think this is going to matter that much Marvin is because this is a Halloween movie so I actually think it get a bump as we get into October so I think it's going to have some real stain power I think this is an eight-week performer what do you what do you think I agree I think that with this being you know the the spooky season or you know whatever you want to call it um I think it's definitely going to have legs I think it's a property I think it's uh we're in a time right now where people are really looking for Nostalgia from things from the 80s and 90s and this offers that I mean it's a it's a sequel to A beloved film by a director that for some reason people seem to like uh who I don't like Tim Burton um and you know it is a uh the the original cast is back I think it's a perfect storm uh for this Halloween season it is what Hocus Pocus 2 probably what people were hoping it would be where it was like a faithful sequel to the original whereas Hocus Pocus 2 you know wet the bed right uh here's something very interesting about this Marvin and I think we need to pay close attention to it because as I said this is the most anti-woke weekend at the at the IC box office we've seen seen in a while and it's a real win for the box office uh 54 to 58% according to this article out of The Hollywood Reporter 54 to 58% women going to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice women are supporting this film I believe yes hugely and some people would presume that Beetlejuice is more of a male skewing kind of franchise doesn't appear to be that we way in the first weekend could be because the NFL came back uh but this is setting up of course some real unhappiness we'll talk about that in just a moment I do want to note why are we calling this the uh the most anti-woke domestic box office weekend in a long time take a look at the top ones uh returning to number two Deadpool and Wolverine coming in third according to projections from Hollywood Reporter Reagan then in a distant fourth and fifth alien Romulus and it ends with us so the top three Deadpool and Wolverine rean both of those led by Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Marvin there's another interesting thing is that Twisters is getting a little bit of a semi- re-release kind of boost and uh it's it's tracking quite well not sure what's going to happen with that but of course that was a return to traditional romantic Thriller right the the two leads are romantically intertwined and all of that so this is all very interesting to watch how this is playing out Marvin I want to show you how it's not being very well received may I show that to you Marvin a lookiss if you didn't yeah we've never done this before we've never put Grace hand off on the the stage this is fair use we're going to do this very briefly we're not going to give her a review away and we we hope folks that you will go watch the entire thing and make sure that we are accurately relaying the way that Grace feels about the film remember though that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is being heavily supported by women 54 to 58% is a very large majority when it comes box office my S my sister is obsessed with Beetle Juice So Burton now you've been you've been harassed by a sister who's in love with a poltergeist is that right exactly all right well let's get let's get harassed for a moment folks here is what Grace Randolph has to say about Beetlejuice Beetlejuice you know overall I really liked this film but there's an aspect to it which is is complex it's complicated uh particularly uh approaching the film as a female not just a female critic but a female viewer in other words she she thinks it's offensive to the same people who are supporting this in in very high numbers just another few seconds Marvin and then you are Unleashed this yeah oh God uh and at first I resented the movie for putting me in this position I was like man couldn't this just be a fun movie why do you have to throw this curveball that I just that I have to deal with all right Marvin it's yours I I seed the table to you sir please she's literally making she's literally making the argument anti-woke reviewers make about every other movie about an anti-woke movie it's uh but she doesn't like it Marvin so so I've seen F I think I should just be allowed to be entertained without having all of this messaging thrown at me so Marvin as a woman I found the presence of three female characters to just be a little over the top of the of the main cast yes four are essentially uh well three are women one is a man who gets 20 minutes of screen time and then there's an animatronic animatronic character named Bob but uh Marvin I'm assuming you have not seen Beetle Jew 2 yet is that correct uh no I've not yet it's you see the original but you did see the original and your sister Scotch taped your eyes open and made you watch the entire thing without blinking correct pretty much okay so let me just put it this way for the folks out there who have not seen it you being the same Marvin uh the characters are still the same it's the exact same film they don't deviate at all if you if you thought that Beetlejuice was a chauvinistic horrible male figure in the first one and he was he's still the same in the second one and that's where the humor is derived he's Rick from Rick and Morty except he's the prede predecessor he is the precursor he is the one that that all this is based on he's that archetype and it's hilarious but he's not nobody thinks he's a hero yeah he's supposed to be that he's the bad guy that's the point right did the vill trying to marry a 15-year-old in the first one exactly it's I always say people get so mad when like wrestling B when wrestling heels do something wrong I'm like oh I'm sorry did the villain do something that made you angry right right so okay but but were you okay Marvin when you watched the first one did you come away with it thinking that it was an anti-woman horrible uh chauvinistic machismo kind of film or did you think that it was sort of you know mocking Beetlejuice himself Beetlejuice is very clearly in the wrong you're not supposed to root for him to marry the 15-year-old it was an empow it's an empowering movie The reason my sister liked it so much it was an empowering movie for like young gothy alternative girls like you know Lydia Deets was like a hero to all of them well I I just want to point out some of the things that uh Grace has to say here we're not trying to pick on Grace maybe one day she'll pick on me and we would hope for as much Grace from Grace as she can muster and we want to have uh Grace for her as well and Grace you're welcome to come on the channel anytime love to talk to you um but in in the on the left side where she has these tabs that she's going to go through you can see that uh one of the things she wants to discuss is that the movie is praying on women uh she wants to talk about genuine trauma uh those are very interesting things to come out of a what I thought was a ridiculous um what would you call this kind of Comedy it's it's in places it's heavy slapstick in other places it's incredibly dry sarcastic wit like you saw in the original Ghostbusters so I you know but you're in this you're in a zany world where people who have been bitten in half by a shark are are squirting blood and somehow made to be funny uh I don't think it's meant to be the kind of thing where you walk away feeling genuine trauma or relating it to a genuine trauma I I just anyway but Mar I bring all this up because I think the critics are not having a good weekend I don't think they're happy that it is Beetle juu Beetlejuice Deadpool Wolverine Reagan like it they definitely don't like that it's Reagan in third place oh definitely not you I've barely seen anything for this Reagan movie the media is just ignoring it completely so here's what I would ask Marvin uh we have watched now the gaming industry barrel head first into what destroyed the film industry the film industry might be healing now do you you think we've turned the corner do you think that Studios even if there will be some woke stuff in the future Marvel's stuck having to flush out the trash that they've been making do you think that Studios have gotten the message will they begin to heal and bring back audiences to the to the uh auditoriums and Cinemas I think at this point if they haven't realized the lesson that audien has been trying to teach them for the last couple years then they are willfully ignorant uh and that there would be no hope at all however I also feel that you know if next summer we have another slew of woke movies we can't rush to judgment on that as far as you know this topic pertains because concept to Creation it takes you know if they if they all decided today okay like like what fige has reportedly done we tried this woke thing it it failed we're going to move on we're gonna get rid of all of our activist uh producers we're not going to see any change for another three to four years and in the gaming world in the gaming world it would take even longer would take probably 5 to seven years to see any kind of definitive change ining Consciousness you're depressing me about my video games well video games especially uh but the the financial reward for doing so seems to be tremendous take a look the first Beetlejuice grossed $74 million at the domestic box office a huge sum at the time how does that uh add up stack up for adjusted for inflation $195 million this film The the sequel that people seem to love in spite of the critics in spite of the uh official intelligencia who's supposed to tell us whether we're offended or not this will easily crush the original adjusted for inflation 195 is where it ended adjusted for inflation the sequel as I said before probably will triple that probably land somewhere around $600 million for its International worldwide box office that's amazing how about that it's a perfect it's a perfect Halloween movie it really is and you know what else I think the thing that '90s kids are really going to like my first um intera I guess interaction or introduction to Beetlejuice was the cartoon when I was a kid I thought that the movie yeah I thought the movie was a movie made of the cartoon which was why I couldn't understand why he was a bad guy and in this he kind of seems to be working with Lydia a little bit more as far from what I saw in the trailer um and to me that is more Beetlejuice the cartoon and I think a lot of people are going to pick up on that and en that a lot more I I think that this very much uh and I think Tim Burton was a fan maybe a collaborator on the cartoon uh this definitely pulls from the cartoon yes 100% don't want to give away any spoilers but it's a it's a great uh and it's really not it's not Nostalgia bait it's not member berries but at the same time it honors and respects the Legacy from whence it comes Marvin my only sadness for you is that I think your sister is going to be more empowered in her harsh treatment of you having to now suffer through more of Beetlejuice Mania and it may last for decades she's mad at me right now because I was supposed to go with her yesterday the other day to see the movie and I had to back out so it's okay it's okay she's gonna go see it again and you know it yeah yeah this is true you're G get another chance you'll get another chance folks the only thing you might not get another chance at
