e e e to do they still got to do quarterbacks and tight ends we do all right we got that we got roster cuts that were made yesterday some more pup announcements I guess and Jeremy's really burning over over over what what was what was the overused or over covered stories today's daily draft we're going to talk about the things that you're just tired of hearing about cuz we had to put one topic on conversation probation yesterday yeah until uh He Who Shall Not Be Named wins a game against I don't know any team that actually plays FBS football I'm good I'm good I don't talk about G right um but I you know I did what I do this morning got up listening to to the old Sports Talk the the different shows that are on the national Airwaves and I kept hearing the same things over and over and over and over and we want to ask you who is the most oversaturated entity in sports now I want to I want to give this a caveat it if it's topical it's not oversaturated so I would argue Dak Prescott is not oversaturated he's a lame duck quarterback going into the final year with an interesting team and the fact that you're tired of hearing his name shouldn't factor into this is It's not that it shouldn't factor in it just doesn't mean it just it does He's not oversaturated cuz damn I can I can go I can go uh Jerry Jones Dallas Cowboys uh Aaron roders New York Jets ah um Florida State seminal there we go we can uh it's all over over talked about things not just in this building not just in this room but over all of the of the uh the the the pantheon of sports well captain iin my Jets I can agree with you on that uhhuh uh I don't necessarily agree with you on a few of the others uhhuh but I heard all these things it got me burning on that it also me burning on something else what is that what do we oversaturate that's not in sports and I tied this into the last 24 hours of my life so I'm going tell you a story my wife is going to the beach this weekend we're going to Atlanta I'll be gone doing fantasy football stuff all weekend long she took the opportunity she's got a friend hadn't been the beach in a while she's got a kid she donees have kid this weekend they're going to the beach so I have been left basically to my own devices foodwise this week because when my wife does this she starts drinking protein shakes because she doesn't somehow understand she's the hottest woman on the planet uh so she starts doing that thing so last night I ordered Little Caesar's pizza because it is just the ultimate pizza for your dining tailgating and just overall happiness Cleveland Browns so they just cut all these guys yesterday signing Dalvin cook he was a guy that they could directly to the practice squad and then make a switch if you got a guy that's hurt somebody that goes on whatever the case may be I don't have to make that decision right now he's going to be on the active roster I have zero doubt of that all right they only carried four running backs it was Rico D de vaugh and lopkey Hunter lepy the the fullback I have no doubt dvin Cook's gonna be on the roster I don't really know how that backfield is going to unfold and I'm not sure that I care no all right riddle me this if I told you that you were going to get an 8020 split out of any running back on this team would you care an 8020 split what do you mean somebody gets 80% of the tote oh would I care for Fantasy Football would you because that's all this really matters absolutely not that's all this really matters no because I'm not taking Ezekiel Elliott and I mean I I I like Rico as the local kid and the local story but I'm just not sure I didn't I really invest in that I was in a draft the other day and he went I think it was like the ninth round and I was thinking that's way too much for me too rich for my blood I mean know what you think ninth round in a fantasy draft for Rico D seems much seems a little much for a team that should be the ball is in Dak Prescott and CD Lamb's hands as much as possible I I mean I get it we're not I know why it happened right they oh I get why they did it I just went that will never be me so last year Dalvin cook finished at 3.2 yards a carry playing for the Jets and the Ravens M Ezekiel Elliott finished at 3.5 playing for the New England Patriots how many running backs with over a hundred carries finished that bad or Worse last year six read you the list Josh Jacobs AJ Dylan miles Sanders Kareem hunt Jamal Williams Damen Pierce end of list wow and all of those guys were absolutely terrible y I don't really feel like this is a better situation but it is at least worth to me adding dvin cook makes me just hate all three of them mhm from a fantasy standpoint right if somebody were to get cut or somebody were to go on IR or get abducted by space aliens maybe we could talk M but for me it's just a hands off I I I don't care I don't think you're good enough you couldn't run last year with Rico and with Tony Pard and I think Tony Pard is markedly better than any running back on this roster dvin cook looked shot I also love the the beat writers that have to say oh it looked like he was in good shape when was the last time just I want you to Rack your mind brain on this when was the last time a guy came in for a trout and they went he was fat as hell uh I I honestly he had a Little Caesar's Pizza in his mouth as he walked in the front door it's funny you ask because it's actually the same team it was Ezekiel Elliott when he went to the Bahamas although I mean he was under contract so he was signing no but I mean like that's when that's the time of year where everybody goes oh they're in the best shape of their lives I just want somebody hopefully he has been training I just want somebody to be honest like he walked in and the only thing I immediately thought was diabetes and hypertensive uh want to see that in a news story one day that's hard hitting journalism right there let's go Dalvin cook has uh developed hypertension is that what you're talking about no they always say a guy's in great shape right they're not always in great shape no dvin cook looks really slow last year mhm whether it was with the Jets or with the Ravens the Jets finally just gave up like I'm because you threw him out there and it he got a yard on most carries you said he averaged 3.6 yards per carry 3.5 excuse me 3.5 yards per carry last year I would not be shocked if that was uh two 30 yard runs and the rest of them were all one or negative and somehow that math would math I'm not you I don't I don't know I can't see his it just never felt like he was ever a thing and I get the offensive line was bad but but look what the other running backs did Bree Bree Hall was just fine behind that swiss cheese offensive line dvin Cook's longest Rush last year four yards really that's it he must have had a handful of those to bring that average up like that not really 67 carries 214 yards I mean I guess three yards is just you know it's a little more than you just falling forward so well if you hold your hands up that's three I was to say you get that's that's a two step two yards your body is two yards if you just round draft picks on their line and three undrafted fre agents there's one guy that got drafted outside of the first round and it's Michael Clemens wow that's pretty incredible that's that's one of the craziest anomaly stats I've ever seen yeah I the nnest Jones trade to me I agree with Jeremy it was an absolute win for the Tennessee Titans that defense is uh not going to be something that many teams or any teams really want to face this season and I I I mean it made all the sense in the world if if you've got the money to spend I don't again I don't we don't know what the money is we don't know how much Tennessee is going to pay him in the extension that he wants 15 was universally what I heard was 15 okay first I can't believe that La didn't come off of that for him because I think he's that I think he's that important to their team you got to realize how topheavy that roster is yeah and then second off $15 million for a player like that for Tennessee and what they're trying to the 53 man roster you cannot put them on the practice squad which means you got to two more guys then they go through waivers and you hope they come back it's not as simple as just well player X is better that was cut by the Browns is better than player y that plays for us there's more that goes into it than that so a lot of teams are looking at okay who can we get to the practice squad maybe could we sneak a guy on IR that's not necessarily hurt but he's got a oh he hurts designated to return yep it's roster manipulation one that kind of came out of nowhere yesterday was not a not a cut but it was placing on the IR without a designation to return Elijah Mitchell for the San Francisco 49ers apparently on Monday he came up lame again on the hamstring that he had reinjured like or that he had injured like three weeks ago and they just season's done well I mean and sometimes you run into that sometimes you run into a spot where you just go you know what the Math's not going to math and if I'm going to have to deal with if I'm going to have to deal with the the fact that you're going to have a hammy that's bothering you all year I'd rather just shut you down now I think that's what the Green Bay Packers did with AJ Dylan yep of no we've already got another running back and we would have to cut a guy we like to keep you on the roster and then put you on ir and no I'm not going to do that I'm just going to put you on season long I only get two cracks at the designated to return thing I'm just gonna shut you down now yeah so if I had AJ Dylan can I can I still go get like Isaac gindo maybe he's a maybe he maybe he's an option now with no Elijah Mitchell and now he'll be what third string rendo yeah they kept him I know but but what I'm saying is like in your fantasy team oh if you had AJ Dylan would you go get like gindo if he was out there or is that going too deep no I mean that's that's how running back goes cuz he's got who Mason in front of him and then of course CMC is not going to lose a whole lot of tote to either of those Jordan Mason is you always have to play the game of what would happen What would have to happen for him to have fantasy relevance and how do I think it would go because what I believe would happen if something happened to Christian mcaffry and he decided to he wanted to W wax surfboards I think Isaac gindo would actually take over as the starter and Jordan Mason's role would stay the same all right there you go so that might be a name that you should be looking for with the injury to uh Elijah Mitchell you also have to be able to keep them on your roster and just know you could be setting a spot on fire because if nothing happens to Christian mcaffrey then he's useless pretty much yeah that's why I always try to stay high in the waiver I don't just make waiver claims willy-nilly and when waivers runs every week probably eight out of 10 weeks you won't see my name on that kicker don't ever use waiver priority on a damn kicker or a defense I don't know how many times how many years in a row I have to say that before people go oh that's never changing he's going to say that every single year because I still get questions about that every single week right if you're asking a question about a kicker I want you to do me a favor look at what day of the week it is if it's not Sunday then you should put that question in your pocket and hold it until Sunday cuz that's the only day kickers matter the only one I cut my Kicker every single week H I never draft one so what do I care it's not returning punts and that is just strange to me because we don't see starting running backs put in this position very often it's not as strange as you think it's not as strange as you think really how many starters do you or or ballpark how many starters in the NFL returned punts last year I didn't say they did okay you're looking at this the wrong way okay last year I'm trying to find it Kiren Williams returned three punts last year okay how many Fair catches did he have none five okay fair catch doesn't count as a return ah okay the actual returner for the LA Rams last year was Austin traml he had 25 returns he averaged seven yards per return had 19 Fair catches all this really means is that Shawn McVey believes in Kiren Williams ability to field punts because the punt game didn't we're working short yardage anyway that quick decision find the whole running back vision would pay off greatly to have him back there no doubt and I'll be honest with you I won't be shocked I I don't know if it will be la I will not be shocked if you get more guys that actually return kicks like kyen Williams M just throwing this out there how many kickoffs did the LA Rams return all of last year yes uh fantasy football is a huge part of the football watching experience for well an entire generation and when it comes to quarterbacks in 20 24 the top of the list is Patrick Mahomes and then what Patrick Mahomes is not the top of the list for me he's not the top of the list not for not for Fantasy Football all right who's going to do better than him well who's going to score more points for me I don't draft non-running quarterbacks anymore never never okay you have to at the very least have the ability to do it mhm and if you you look at all right last year how many of the top five you think you can get top five fantasy football scoring quarterbacks last year who were they uh Josh Allen he was one uh Lamar he was four Patrick wasn't on that list he was seven eight eight eight oh wow okay um I don't know who else is at the top Jaylen Herz yeah he was two okay Dak Prescott Lamar who you said at four and Jordan love at five really Pat Mahomes is he does run he doesn't tend to run into the end zone very much so for me I look at quarterbacks and I mean I can go back a couple years and keep doing that yes Pat Mahomes was won the year before they couldn't run a greasy Peg of a cat's keester he was an absurd amount of their touchdown scoring I don't think he has to do that anymore I really don't I look at Isaiah Pacho who I like a lot I had him in my top 10 Chris wilmack was in with me that day um I I don't think Pat Mahomes has to do that anymore the one I keep coming back to it's Josh Allen why do we not like Josh Allen as much as a an NFL quarterback going into this year because he doesn't have Stefon Diggs anymore so he doesn't have Stefon Diggs and you're 100% right he doesn't he also doesn't really have a running back that I feel great about between the tackles which means it's probably G to be himh for Fantasy I like him more now than I ever have before I think they're going to be down a lot I don't think the defense is very good and a lot of this is going to be on his shoulders so therefore he will run the ball more he will run the ball more he will score more mhm I mean if you look at what he did last year just the straight stat line you tell me what's non-replicable he threw for 4,300 yards could he do that again in 2024 Factor fix could he yes I think that's the floor the bills ran for 2200 yards last year I don't see that happening again okay especially not if he's only accounting for 500 of it he ran for 500 yards is that replicable mhm he threw for 29 touchdowns he ran for 15 he threw 18 interceptions he lost five F he lost three fumbles excuse me tell me what of that is not replicable and tell me what of it that is I don't necessarily think he throw 18 interceptions again he led the NFL M by a lot mhm that comes down to 12 and he duplicates everything else he's one going away yeah question is is that cyclical we always talk about turnovers being cyclical but with Josh Allen they seem to be constant and that's and that's the problem that a lot of people have obviously as a on the- field football player fantasy it doesn't hurt you too much unless you're in like a bonus League or something like that that that do you can be in leagues that penalize you big time for interceptions I think I think the biggest number I've seen on that in a in a league is minus three for an interception but that's very very rare if anything it's going to be minus one for a throwing an inter every League I play in at least two or more really okay I was going to say I've I've never seen higher than three three is about the standard that's about where that's about where it falls in look I just when I'm looking for a quarterback my number one question is how much of your team success are you directly responsible for no player rings that Bell as loud or as often as Josh Allen now there's another quarterback that I say the same thing about but first we have a super chat with a fantasy football question yeah Jason kones I hope I said that correctly please tell me if I did asked would you trade Pat Mahomes and Aaron Jones for Jared gof and Jamir Gibbs yes I believe I would gof is a little bit older than momes I think his ceiling and Mahomes floor are close Aaron Jones has one year left Jamir Gibbs has a lot so it sounds weird to say but I probably would yeah and in a dynasty I'm I I'm in because well now for one year I wouldn't no no no if you're just one year redraft one year then no no but if this is a dynasty draft and you can get your hands on jir Gibbs okay I believe I'm I believe I'm taking that deal because like he said Aaron Jones is a one andone kind of a prospect Patrick Mahomes is great and you don't want to give him up but there again I need that I need that stud running back for down the road so I I feel like I'm in on that deal your number two quarterback behind Josh Allen for this year last year you said uh it was Jaylen Herz finishing in second is he your number two Josh Jaylen Herz is he your number two he's not mine for one very specific reason you've never had to deal with a squin Barkley before squin changes a lot to me because you get down to the two yard line now you don't have Jason Kelce I don't see the touch poo being as bit I just I can't see a path that cam Jurgens who fell in the draft not because he wasn't talented but because he was small I don't see him leading that charge I also could see him getting your quarterback killed I also said this all year last year Jaylen Herz got worse as the season got along went along and I fully believe it was because you kept asking him to do that so I look at I'll ask the same question about Jaylen Herz that I just asked about Josh Allen what of what I'm getting ready to tell you do you find to be replicable Jaylen herdz threw for just under 4,000 yards last year right at 3858 I would say that was surprising to me I'd go over I would say that's probably his ceiling okay in this offense as it is currently constructed and I'll I'll detail why that is in just okay please do he threw 23 touchdowns MH Factor fiction that's going to go up or down up my only argument would be that was the most he's ever had in the season and outside of one year it's not even close he had never had more than 16 before last year 15 interceptions I would say that goes down I would say that goes down now's the part where uh he had 15 rushing touchdowns now you have saquin Barkley there is no shot that stays as high as it was I I don't think so he had 600 rushing yards on 157 attempts I would say attempts goes markedly closer to Allen had a 111 and I would say that's probably your ceiling okay I would say Josh Allen rushes more this year than Jaylen Herz does more touchdowns more attempts more everything because I don't have another solution no they do yeah I don't James Cook is really good but he's really good outside the tackles he's fine between the tackles he's not Elite sequin Barkley is Elite between the tackles yes they brought him in here to take some of that load off of Jaylen herdz because you paid this guy and you do not want to be doing that to him MH Buffalo don't have a choice they have no choice my two is Lamar Jackson okay I don't see how Lamar was the MVP last year he was the MVP from a watching with your eyes it was super obvious that Lamar was the best player on the field every time he touch the field now do you realize that he threw for Less yards than Jaylen herdz he had one more touchdown mhm handful of less interceptions I think he had eight less interceptions y yep he ran for 200 more yards and 10 less touchdowns there's not one number on that screen that I don't see going the good side this year right none of them because he missed a game oh and by the way that defense was really really good that defense is going to be really really good again but you don't have as many weapons now it's Z flowers and it's Mark Andrews and starting out you've only got Derrick Henry I hate to tell you this Gus Edwards had almost 200 carries last year I think that's about where Derrick Henry's going to be okay now his yardage total might go up but there's not a regression to the mean with Lamar Jackson he had five rushing touchdowns last year that was just crazy okay why do you say that because I feel like he as as dynamic as he get right at he is and as much Pub as he gets you would think that this would be double digit touchdown guy but he's never done it he's never been that guy to get all the rushing touchdowns had he had five rushing touchdowns combined in 21 and 22 he only has 29 in his career right and he had 14 of those in back-to-back Seasons early MH but I do think you're going to get some migration back to the main I also think there's a great chance this is his first year throwing for 4,000 yards that schedule's evil I mean I got to for if you think you're going to grind out teams playing good defense when you've got legit one corner that I really trust it ain't gonna happen yeah you go up and down who Baltimore plays good luck with that yeah those two games with the Steelers I they're always close it doesn't make any sense that they're close but I mean you play the Chiefs and the Cowboys and the bills you've obviously got two with the Bengals two with the Browns you got to play the Buccaneers uh you have to play the Chargers you got to play the Eagles you got to play the Texans that's a lot of teams that can score points good offense beats good defense in this league yeah are you going to make sure that we're at another game for the Ravens Bucks game so I don't have to watch it because I don't I don't like it when I I see my team lose that poorly well I mean I could you just have to remind me of that we just audibled a decent amount of the schedule after Florida State got beat because I I I mean I'm just going to be as honest about this I can the Tallahassee drive is not a super fun drive and if you think that I was angry on Monday if I have to drag my drunk keester back here from Tallahassee Florida on a Sunday to cover fantasy football she but you'd have to have a young priest and an old priest at that door you'd have to call Adam black and be like hey you got a couple buddies cuz we're going to have to exercise the teamon out of him cuz he's trying to kill people driving down the freeway it's not good not know what as I'm saying this I think having almond Ro makes me like that less I would like to have GF I don't necessarily want jir Gibbs yeah in a vacuum that makes me safe for one year no because I love Aaron Jones uh and another thing that I did want to touch on from Philly cheese why does no one remember that Kelsey's small too it's not that I don't remember it I also know that he's built like a Greek god and has thighs like tree trunks cam Jurgens doesn't I got news for you all right anytime you ever hear me say something like that I want you to remember the analogy that I'm getting ready to make Jason Kelce and I are the same size we're both the exact same size yeah I've got him by about maybe an inch cuz cuz I think he's 63 and some change I'm 6'4 and some change we're both 295 lbs that statline have to look like if he doesn't run the ball does he have to throw 38 touchdowns and you know four interceptions to be able to to claim the top spot he finished 11th last year okay I'm not I'm I'm saying this sounds about right for him I'm just trying to figure out like what's he got to do to get to one he missed two games mhm and part of a third he threw for 4,100 yards had 23 touchdowns and five interceptions if he doesn't throw for I mean I think 30 is his floor okay the five interceptions yeah that helps he ran 39 times last year rush for three touchdowns if he could get that to five I mean I think there's a possibility CJ St throws for 5,000 yards this year that offense is that good you got that many receivers you got that many dudes MH all right I'll put it to this way Nico Collins Stefon Diggs tank Dell they all three play 17 games which one doesn't have over a thousand yards eight one there you go you're gonna get another four to five out of Joe Mixon and you've got You' still got Dalton shelu I didn't even mention very true I think that puts his floor at 4,300 mhm cuz I think I have Joe Mixon at 500 yards between the first three I said they end up somewhere in like that 3150 3200 range and then Dalton Schultz is good for another six to seven yeah I mean they just have so many weapons that it doesn't really matter which guy get it doesn't matter teams are going to play in the AFC no not good God no is that running game consistent enough enough that you're going to score points that way you planning on winning a bunch of these games 12 to 10 bro cuz that's about all you got I mean this is a team that just played three preseason games they rushed it 24 times for 78 yards in one M 27 times for 106 yards in another 25 times for 109 and that was their high water mark you couldn't run with your starters against backups in the pre-season what do you think is going to happen now that I'm not worried about your quarterback at all you have no weapons it's George Pickins and a bunch of dudes Pat Fri mouth I stand by what I say really you're off him it's not that I'm off of he's a good tight end he's not a seam stretcher he's not a guy that's going to beat you over the top no of course not I can put eight dudes in the Box against Pittsburgh Steelers if I have a legit number one corner and I have no fear of anything you can do nothing it's a decision that is very befitting of Mike Tomlin you'll never be awful but you're never really a threat and that's that's Russell Wilson and with Justin Fields can they be a threat they're harder to defend I can score see with Justin Fields I see multiple ways to score I didn't tell you either one of them was hey let's get the guns out and celebrate the Pittsburgh Steelers no at this point it's it's about what where are we at as a team what is the next step it I mean this has to be the discussion in that locker room of we're not good enough right we're not a championship team right now you got to go game by game and build us back into that so how do we get their best do we start off the season by having Russell out there that he's not going to turn the ball over maybe the best on the road at the commanders God forbid you lose to the Broncos yeah I was going to say I know I know you're hot on the commanders as a sneaky team I think and you catch them at a bad time to cuz that's where they should really be hitting a stride and you still don't have Jaden Daniels hitting that now far less existent rookie wall because guys play some again in college yep I I I don't get it I I don't I do not understand what you could possibly have seen I've been getting reports from your Camp every single day I ain't heard a good one about Russell Wilson yet watched all three preseason games didn't see anything that made me think he was a starting level quarterback in this league is this one of those scenarios where he's a name so we got to throw him out there first week let him throw four interceptions and then bring in Justin Fields is that pressure still exist for Russell Wilson you can't have that quick trigger you just can't you'd have had to have really put that out there I mean this makes it sound like Justin Fields had no shot to win this job anyway which would scream the question to me why'd you bring him in here in the first place I mean because you know that's going to be a distraction unless because if he comes in here throws two interceptions in a half whoa boy oh yeah which I have no doubts that he'll probably do I get that once week one rolls around which we're just a little less than or a little over a week away from the start of the season week one rolls around I get you're going to have a different offensive line out there than you had in the preseason but none of that went well in the preseason no the the line was awful and so if that same thing happens in that first game Sitting Duck I don't see a way that that doesn't come back to bite you and then does it look poorly and this is from the pr standpoint then how poorly does that look on Mike Tomlin who already faces so much pressure from half of the fan base that now why are you why are you playing mik Tomlin Mike Tomlin doesn't get PR things don't matter you've got enough credits and debits that none of that matters at some point it's got to doesn't it I mean not as long you've never been sub 500 so yeah you got way more credits in that account than you've ever had debits I'm not worried about the pr I'm worried about there are a handful of ways that this can go horor awful and you got a fan base that's way more on the brink than people think because Steeler fans do not expect to be N9 and eight they expect to be we expect a Super Bowl every decade yep we expect to yeah he also only threw a couple of passes that went more than 20 yards too so I I mean if you want to play that way more power to you it's not going to go the way you want yeah Pittsburgh Steelers I I mean I guess we haven't really made it to week one just yet but I believe I did say that I do not expect both of these quarterbacks to be on this team when this decision was made so I guess that's ahead and tell you there's going to be a whole lot of big boys that really don't like it y because it's going to lead to an nil salary cap it's going to lead to a coaching salary cap it's going to lead to a whole mess of things that you ain't going to like that are good for the sport Abol they are because you have a lot of sleeping Giants that if you leveled off the money in this it wouldn't be Georgia and Ohio State and and Oregon and Texas and Michigan every year you would bring back a lot more Washington's I'll don't even go Florida State Miami Florida a lot of those teams if all things
