there's a player for everyone out there and I think if you love dogs and someone that's uh passionate about giving back to his community whether it's with Children's Charities different shelters animal rescue organizations you're looking at him right here Bray Ola has arrived on the scene's going to take it off for a first down this is Brady Olivera running back for the wiip peg Blue Bombers and this is my unreal story lots of trials and tribulations you know lots of things that you know most kids probably don't go through in a household with you know a father that was a drug addict right you know addicted to drugs my entire life and you know I always say my what's my why right and it's it's always been my mom you know seeing how much of a strong individual that she still is and that she was growing up as a young kid and just the things that we had to go through and the things we had to see it just instilled you know a hunger and a drive and a motivation that is unmatched it's funny now I talk about this hunger right it's like you know you think of that analogy you open up the fridge and there's nothing in there and just being a hungry you know young boy right and and now being a young man right it's yeah you know successful and I'm doing great things and um it's a blessing I'm I'm truly blessed but having that in the back of my mind of you know continue that hunger because that hunger is what has gotten me to where I am today my dad's back in my life now and he's sober now and and uh it's still an up P battle but he's he's really enjoying his sobriety and he's back into my life and I'm really just there to support him and it's good to know that he's living a clean lifestyle now and and he's sober and that's that's the biggest thing my mom instilled those traits into US of hey you know this is isn't what you what you want um and you're not going to be like that so I think at that age when I was you know 13 start to really understand right and I'm getting into football and and having this early success of my first year playing football I was like okay like this this could be this could be my way out I used all that negativity and I put it all into football so I earned a full ride scholarship went to the University of North Dakota and it was amazing you know it was about 2 and 1 half hours uh from Winnipeg so every game I had family and friends there just like now you know playing with the bombers I have family friends at every game so that was the same thing in college right it it was amazing my mom came to every single game you know my biggest supporter my biggest fan and then you know fast forward I get drafted to Winnipeg Blue Bombers you know it was the dream come true it was like a full circle moment you know coming back to Winnipeg and playing for my hometown it's like what else more could I ask for one of the most amazing feelings is probably running out of that tunnel you know before every single game and they announce my name and you hear the the fans just their uproar and knowing that I have so much support there for my family and friends and now just the the community that love that I get there in Winnipeg it's it's unmatched man like it it's truly a blessing and I'm so grateful for for this opportunity the leading rusher in the CFL Brady Olivera most outstanding Canadian in the CFL for 2023 is Brady Ola yeah that that's the season that I'll remember for my entire life capping it off obviously with the most outstanding Canadian award is is an award that I think is the best award in this league you know me being a Canadian this is a Canadian League that's a very prestigious award so I was speechless and a loss of words I do tons off the field with you know different Children's Charities and you know homeless shelters uh and then obviously with animal stuff now and the different thing with that when you look at animals and dogs you know they're they're innocent they're helpless they have no voice right Alex and I you know my girlfriend she's she has a heart heart of gold man you know she she's been doing this rescue work way longer than I've been over 10 years as well so it was just a friendship at first right it with so many common interests and then it just grew into something special and super organic and I think that's when it when it's the best right and now I have this you know soulmate that has all the same passions and beliefs that I do and we get along so well right so we do these res rescue missions together and she has a heart of gold and is a massive dog lover and we have a a family of three now with three dogs and they are everything and you know when I'm not playing football my mind instantly goes to okay spending time with their dogs and Alex and taking them on cool adventures and then obviously if I have more time how can we help more dogs in need I love being a voice of the voiceless and this is why I'm so heavily invested and involved because they need us you know they need humans to be their voice to step up for them and uh to get them out of the rough situations that that they're in so uh it's something that I'll never stop I'm very passionate about and there's uh lots of dogs out there needing forever homes and uh these dogs need us to be their voice and to be an advocate for them it's the first thing that pops in your head when you think of BR Aliva or his career with the wi to paper bombers or his career in the CFL you know what I want to be remembered as is guy who went out there and battled truly laid it on the line for his teammates every single week every single game every single opportunity and in everyday life you know whatever I'm doing I'm doing it 100 mes an hour you know Full Tilt you need to embrace those tough times and embrace the grind and that really will CLE push you forward so right now just you know whatever it takes Embrace embracing the grind coming together work working every single day and and going out there and getting the job done so The Vibes are still high in the locker room uh we have great guys in that locker room have total faith in every single one of them and we're going to keep this thing rolling and and ultimately it's a long season and we'll get hot at the right time
