season just a little heads up on tomorrow's show we're going to give you our boldest hottest spiciest takes so make sure you tune in for that but Kate these are these are mild takes let's start off with a CJ strout take let's start out with CJ strout indeed because he has been one of my biggest Fades this offseason especially when it comes to cost and redraft leagues right now CJ Stout is being drafted round four round five like ahead of Anthony Richardson who everybody is boldly predic finishes the overall qb1 I understand that CJ stad is an elite quarterback already heading into year two I understand that he is throwing to arguably the best wide receiver Trio in the National Football League with Nico Collins tank Dell and the newly added Stefan Diggs he's also got a very capable receiving tight end in Dalton Schultz you bring in Joe Mixon there are so many MS for him to feed Marcus but we are predicting that he falls outside of the top 10 fantasy quarterbacks this season break it down yeah again this has nothing to do with strout because I think strout is an unbelievable player comes down to his fantasy value right and we know Bobby slowick the Texans OC one of the most runhe heavy offensive coordinators when you get down close to the goal line and I think that's one of the reasons why they brought Joe Mixon in is because he is a pretty efficient Goal Line Runner I think he's going to get a lot of these short touchdowns but it really comes down to me Kate I think this Houston defense is going to be really good the addition of denil Hunter the development of Will Anderson the secondary so much better I just don't see the Texans getting into a lot of shootouts I think they're gonna ask stra to manage the game put up efficient numbers but I don't know if he's going to put up Elite passing numbers that's why I won't be surprised that other quarterbacks that are like Stouts such as let's say Jordan love uh Dak Prescott I'll even throw some some older guys in there like kurk cousins I won't be surprised if those guys have higher passing yardage totals and more passing touchdowns and they just finish over Stroud on top of that Stroud really doesn't give us much in the rushing department so maybe quarterbacks like who you love Jaden Daniels maybe he rushes for 500 yards and six touchdowns maybe Anthony Richardson stays healthy and gives you that UPS side I love CJ strad but I could see him easily finishing outside the top 10 this year yeah situationally there there are a few quarterbacks that I'm like okay this quarterback has a reasonable chance to be NFL MVP in 2024 but not for a fantasy like that yes does not always translate you look at the season that Tua Tong of vioa posted just last year literally led the NFL in terms of passing yards 4,600 79 passing yards five games of 300 plus yards uh just was an absolute stud uh 29 passing touchdowns that was tied for fifth in the National Football League and guess what he was the overall quarterback nine in a year that there were a lot of major injuries at the position burough Herber I mean the the list Anthony Richardson the list goes on and up the list goes on and on so like when you looked at his end of season finish he only finished uh just slightly ahead of Trevor Lawrence in the rankings Trevor Lawrence for as disappointing as he was was quarterback 10 last year and again it was because of the massive slew of injuries at the quarterback position so like yeah you could look at his end of season ranks and be like well that wasn't that bad but it was because the volatility on a week- toe basis just didn't provide you enough of a floor and I think that's probably close to what we're going to look at for CJ stad and listen if you want to go in on CJ strad as as a dynasty quarterback I think that's very fair I think CJ strout is going to be a guy that you can just kind of slot in as your quarterback much like a a Patrick Mahomes who I will stay still offers you know more upside as a rusher in general but like he's gonna be a franchise guy that like if you just don't even want to think about the quarterback position and worry about players losing their jobs or like the volatility there CJ St might be a good option for you is no yeah I want to mention somebody else that I completely forgot Jared gof I think Jared gof obviously I don't think he has the same upside as CJ strad but Jared G was in one of the best offenses in the league I believe he finished this like qb8 to QB 10 last year threw over 30 touchdowns I could see Stout having a similar season to that but when you don't have the rushing upside it's just it's going to be hard for him to finish better than that and unlike in Detroit I mean Houston Houston's had a really good defense I don't think Detroit's defense is going to be very good this year and that means that g is just going to be in more of these shootout type of games I I could see Kate there being a lot of games where the Texans win 24- 14 right 23 to 16 because the defense is going to be lights out they're just not going to need CJ strad to throw the ball 45 times a game like the Lions sometimes need from Jared gof yeah I think that's very fair CJ strad just last season despite you know throwing 4,100 passing yards you know where he tied uh or what player he tied for in terms of fantasy points per dropback and a big part of that I do think is the fact that like again you look at the end zone passing right CJ stoud ranked 13th in terms of Endzone pass attempts um you know not any sort of of a factor in terms of of Red Zone Rush attempts nine total carries inside the Red Zone all of last season he tied Russell Wilson for the ninth most fantasy points per drop back last year tied Russell Wilson so again this is one of those situations where I look at The Talented quarterback I look at what they're doing in the NFL and it just it the the way that scoring is in fantasy football in most leagues it it devalues a quarterback despite you know you know a quarterback like CJ strout it devalues them in general and I agree that creates these mismatches where like yes you sound stupid saying that CJ Stout is not a top 10 quarterback but we mean for fantasy football and sometimes there are these these situations where real life NFL does not match the fantasy output regardless of how much we want it to again I I would take Stroud all day over Dak Prescott Jared Goff Jordan love but Kate would it be surprising at all if he just finished below all those guys in passing yards and touchdowns no it wouldn't be at all so this might seem like a really bull tape because of where he's being drafted in redraft in Dynasty leagues but it also wouldn't be that bll prediction on George Pickins what do you got top 12 wide receiver in 2024 and Marcus I am trying so hard to remain cool calm and collected here but Brandon auk just signed his long-term deal with the San Francisco 49ers and guess what fantasy managers should probably be rejoicing because suddenly George Pickins is looking like one of the biggest steals in all of fantasy football here let's not forget that George Pickins coming out of Georgia was you know at one point considered like the deie wide receiver one he was considered one of everybody's favorite prospects in that class but things went South suffered a torn ACL and then I do think the fact that he tried to make this return before coming out in the NFL draft tried to make this sort of brief return wasn't 100% didn't quite look like himself like if he hadn't had this injury in unfortunate circumstance we would have been looking at a first round pick and then now he's got this wide receiver one workload he was already finishing as the wide receiver 26 and half PPR scoring last year despite being his team's wide receiver to despite being on one of the worst offenses in the National Football League by mile now we get an update an upgraded quarterback Russell Wilson one of the best deep passers as much as you want to like you know poo poo him for not being old school Russ still one of the best deep ball passers now he's being paired with one of the best deep ball receivers and biggest splash play dudes who's got yards after the catch ability for days like yeah I am all in on George Pickins who was already one of the League's most efficient wide receivers just last year on one of the worst offenses I've ever seen I was pretty aggressive in drafting George Pickins and Dynasty leagues and in redraft leagues this summer The only fear that I had was okay at some point the Steelers are going to bring somebody else in not to challenge him for targets but to take away some targets right like there's just no way they're going into the season with Van Jefferson Calvin Austin a hurt Roman Wilson and Scotty Miller as the other receivers on this roster as we do this show on Labor Day less than a week away from the Steelers first game that's exactly what's happening here right like I don't see Pittsburgh going out and making a trade because all their options are the guys that they've been acquire or you know they've been looking at Brandon auk got a new deal Carin slotton got a new deal I just don't see CD lamb I don't think they're actually looking at CD L but you get the point like all of the these receivers that could have been available Pittsburgh kind of whiffed on and now it's George Pickins and all of these other Jags right just guys um are out there with George Pickins and I it seems pretty likely that he's gonna get conservatively eight targets a game maybe even more than that and if he's got this a DOT that's 14 15 yards down the field like we've seen in the past why couldn't he finish as a top 10 wide receiver this year yeah I I think I mean the skill set is there right and you're project in this offense I don't know you know obviously the narrative around Matt Canada is not a favorable one but for anybody who didn't watch the games on an every down basis they didn't utilize the middle of the field they did not really do anything for George Pickins outside of just running these routes along the boundary which again for a guy that has tremendous yards after the catchability like targeting him on these you know like outgoing you know sideline catches where he literally can't maximize any yards after the catch like that is the kind of offense that the Steelers were working with whatever you want to say about Arthur Smith and the frustrations there I mean yeah I I I get it but the tier break between George Pickins and Van Jefferson and any other player in this offense is so significant that I think 150 targets for George Pickins here heading into year three is not outside of the realm of possibility and I'm kind of all in and this is somebody who I will say I've been most probably more skeptical of George Pickins than anybody I've said yeah like the explosive playmaking ability the jaw-dropping catches you love that but what has been kind of absent from his game is this ability to make routine plays routinely I do think moving him around in the offense getting him some snaps in the slot where he might be able to generate a little bit more separation like all of these things have worked in George pickin's favor this year to I think really really shock people heading into his third NFL season all right what's your other bold predictions for uh some rookie receivers I think we're gonna have two rookie wide receivers finish also in the top 12 right alongside George Pickins I know everybody's already projecting Marvin Arison to have his year one breakout but I do think Malik neighbors could be headed for a top 12 finish now just because it's you know a questionable situation a quarterback in the New York Giants offense I think people are a little bit nervous uh we watched him throw how many interceptions in the preseason uh watched him throw a beautiful touchdown pass to uh what was it the Houston defense um yeah it was not a pretty sight but I do think a a couple things it you know we got to let Daniel Jones knock off some of that rust a little bit I think that's a big part of why he played for a whole half uh despite being a veteran like he's coming back from the season ending knee injury he's with a new primary target I love Theo Johnson like I I do think there are some things that make me kind of a little bit curious about this offense Daniel Jones we still saw him um you know move around he was you know not afraid to use his legs so far from what we've seen and I think there's just a nonzero chance that Malik neighbors has like 160 targets out of the gate in year one yeah I could see I think honestly the Giants are gonna have to do that in order to generate any offense like just try to find ways to get him the football um is there any chance that it's another receiver outside of Marvin Harrison and malague neighbors like is there any world in which romad dun is in that ation or Brian Thomas or anybody else it's so hard to predict that because of the fact that like you know it's a crowded receiving core um from a skill set standpoint romad dun was my wide receiver too in this class over mque neighbors I just worry there are too many mouths to feed you also have DeAndre Swift you have Roshan Johnson who you might utilize a little bit in the passing game like there are so many mouths to feed that like yes May maybe romad dun has a much better fantasy finish than we're projecting I think especially from a an efficiency standpoint we might see him be you know tremendously more efficient than we see Malik neighbors just based on offense scheme Etc but like Malik neighbors I think that any any sort of you know deficiency he has in this efficiency apartment just based on the offense and the quarterback he's going to make for in volume tenfolds one last little bll take here before we move on I think the most likely receiver outside of Malik neighbors and Marvin Harrison Jr to finish as a top 12 again a rookie receiver isn't romad dun isn't Brian Thomas isn't lad mccon it's Xavier worthy I mean you couldn't put him in a better situation right like a speed receiver who has been Uber productive for three years at Texas on an offense with an old Travis Kelce with a Hollywood Brown who's already hurt Simon up for Xavier worthy but maybe we'll save some more Chief's takes for tomorrow okay let's go to a Bill's Take including our guy Dalton concade who we think is spent a lot of this offseason talking about the tight end rankings and how fluid they are and how uh much we like this tight end group with Travis Kelce Mark Andrew Trey McBride uh obviously Sam leapa but the name that I want to mention here is D conc who I am picking to finish as the number one overall tight end in fantasy this year if you look at the second half of the Year numbers Sam Le Porter and Dalton K put up almost identical numbers this bill's offense no more Stefan Diggs no more Gabe Davis they have a rookie Keon Coleman who's gonna play on the outside khil Shakir in the slot who I like quite a bit I think dton con k is gonna lead this Bills team in targets catches yards touchdowns and I won't be surprised if he has a thousand yards season with double digit touchdowns I'm all in on this take this is one of my favorite offseason takes of you the entire year like Dyan concade we really saw a second half transformation from him was inactive in week six and from that point on uh you know there was some health issues with Dawson Knox as well average 6.5 targets per game wasn't a huge asset in terms of like Red Zone production but again he was a rookie and what I really care about was this significant involvement um in in the receiving game he is one of the most familiar targets that Josh Allen has the departure of Stefan Diggs the departure of Gabe Davis like these have been his tried and true wide receiver ones over the past several seasons like you look at the final four games of uh the 2024 season dlan concade posted 45 plus receiving yards in each of those games had 280 plus receiving yard games to close out the game I just or close out the the regular season there's so much to like about D Kade but like when I'm looking at projecting these offenses and and you know my my reasonable expectations there's no tight end that I can picture like just taking a bigger Leap Forward in terms of total Target share than dton concade this year I agree I mean the other thing we need to mention is Josh Allen I think had 15 rushing touchdowns last year I gotta believe that that regresses some to the mean I still think Josh Allen's going to score seven eight nine rushing touchdowns but 15 seems pretty excessive right and let's say three of those go to Don conate and he goes from five touchdowns to eight touchdowns or six touchdowns to nine touchdowns I think we're looking at somebody who has a legitimate chance of becoming that tight end one I also just like gambling on young players and great offenses mentioned this point I mean all offseason long dcan Kade got hurt at the end of a senior year at Utah missed almost the entire off season didn't do any combine training didn't do any workouts nothing like that hardly practiced at all practiced a little bit at training camp played I believe one preseason game and then was basically still learning or getting up to speed in the NFL once that Dawson Knox injury happened it was all systems go I I expect him to not only put up numbers that were similar to what he did in the second half of last year I expect him to be better I expect him to be more efficient one of the things we didn't see a lot from him last year was making plays after the catch he's a much better player after the catch than what we saw last year I'm expecting a massive year for do concade for sure and what I'm hoping for the most in terms of like projecting growth for concade I really want to see an increase in End Zone targets but it only had three targets inside The End Zone all of last year in the regular season which is kind of like I don't know jarring uh when you just look at the fact that like yeah this is a team that has plenty of opportunities in the scoring range like but again you look at which of these players are departed from the offense Gabe Davis LED this team in nzone targets Stefan Diggs ranked second in Endzone targets uh you know in terms of Red Zone targets Gabe Davis again LED that Buffalo Bills offense Stefan Diggs right second like the opportunity here is ridiculous like yeah he didn't get these opportunities that are so valuable in his rookie season which I think is more than understandable but with these top two dogs out of the offense with the skill set they have like they didn't trade up to draft Delton concade as a tight end they traded up to draft him as a a future uh you know the the hybrid receiving tit end they did not I I think they drafted him to be like the alpha of the offense right like Hey we're going to run our passing attack through him and let's find players that complement him he's going to be like the star of the offense and that's where I like the way that they buil they've built this offense like khil Shakir is your slot Curtis Samuel can do stuff all over the field including playing the backfield Keon Coleman is your ex receiver who's a a ball getter down the sideline like to me on the outside Kate it looks like they've built everything around D concade and once the season starts and we get a couple games in it's going to be so obvious to everybody that concade is the guy that you want in this offense for sure and I I think that's going to translate year over-year it would not be surprising to me if dton Kade is rivaling Sam laa for the dynasty tight end ones spot come end of season because again the way that they've constructed this offense I do think everybody has kind of their particular skill set that they contribute but none that's more unique than dton con Kade and what he can do with the ball in his hands
