Game of this three game series between the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals. Another tough year for Corbin in Washington and he's trying to make some changes. He added a cutter which he's throwing about 18% of the time. So a new pitch for the Yankees to deal with and when you're having a tough year, you're looking for some positive vibes that slider is going to be something that he's going to have to use tonight and get some swing and miss get some soft contact labor let off. Last night's game with a home run comes in hitting 242. Way out ahead of that one in between. Ha plays it very smoothly for a soft contact to the hand for juan Soto as he is introduced to the public address system, got the standing ovation last night stepped out of the box, do his helmet to the crowd, but tonight he's right into the batter's box and so centers one to center and the center fielder, Jacob Young for the second half, Aaron Judge in the month of August, another month where he's hitting over 400 the numbers are astonishing his on base percentage. This month is 550 picked up his 1/1000 career hit in his final at bat last night. Judge lines that to right field down to the corner almost a carbon copy of number 1000. But this time Aaron Judge will have a double runner in scoring position here with two out. Corbin's pitch to Stanton is hit in the air to deep left field but way foul and way out of here but foul what a shot. But the Nets have pitched the big three pretty well with his first strikeout as a scoreless. Top of the first pitching around the two out double by Aaron Judge with the man left for the Yankees middle of the first Cole taking the ball tonight game two against the Nationals just finished up his warm up tosses his 12th start 5 to 2, record 3.72 A as he hits that hard on the ground to the back hand. Torres two pitches one out that will bring up James Wood batting second of the order hitting 281 in 49 games since his call up on the first of July 1st inning, swinging a ground ball left side fielded by Js Chisholm Junior. His throw is going to pull the mayo off the bag and wood is safe as Chisholm playing in a shortstop position as the third baseman field that ball, dave immediately knew he was in trouble against the speed of James Wood and couldn't get off the throw quickly enough and on target enough to get him. It's a knock and now it's a steal and that's not close. James Wood. Eight stolen basin. The nets have a runner at second with one out, awkward swinging a miss at 97 upstairs. Eric Cole has to step up his game a little bit and the velocity on the fastball responds at 97 pitch is hit in the air to center judge, three steps to his right, makes the catch and that will retire the side. So they leave the runner at second and we go to the second inning. Andres will lead off for the Nationals in the bottom of the second swing and miss good heater from Cole second strikeout one away swinging a line drive to center field on a few hops by aaron Judge. He'll play it back in from center field and Jose Tana's board, here's Dylan Cruz was zero for three with a walk in his debut last night gets the hand as he stands in, swung on, hit deep to left field. Verdugo going back, it's over his head and off the base of the wall in play. Heading for third is Tana, he'll hold there and into second is Dylan Cruz with a double and his first hit in the major leagues comes in to the second baseman torres standing ovation for Dylan Cruz. His first hit in the big leagues a double off the face of the left field wall here at Nationals Park Gallo back at first base, his 39th start there and Joey will make a productive out to the right side Washington one on Gallo's 13th run batted in Coles pitches and Cole strike three. Gallo drives in a run. They lead Cruz at third. We go to the third inning, Alex Verdugo DJ and Glabra torres 89 and one for the Yankees against Patrick Corbin is in there at the belt strike three called him looking at a 92 mile per hour fastball second strikeout for Corbin. So Corbin's first walk, you hope is not costly, but now, Soto gets a chance with a runner on base. Now the 12 swinging a mess, he struck him out with a slider. So Patrick Corbin strikes out Juan Soto and pitches around the two out walk to Torres middle of inning three. It'll be the top of the order for the NATS. The Nationals won the Yankees nothing. Andres Garro will lead off the nationals in the bottom of the fourth. The Nats are up one nothing. We had a long drive left field back goes for duo to the warning track to the wall and there it goes. First big league home run for andres Chaparro Nationals. Two Yankees nothing. What a moment for him. Not only the first homer of his career to do it against the Yankees team to give you a chance of a high fastball which you do not see every day against Cole. Tana hits one in the air to right center field. This is deep way back. It goes and on consecutive pitches, the Nationals go back to back Parrow and Tana on consecutive pitches homer against Garrett Cole. Not a lot of homers previous four starts allows back to back homers to begin the bottom of the fourth tonight. Now the pitch to Gallo, Gallo hits one deep to right that goes , Soto is on the track leaps and SOTO plays it off the wall. Boy that, that didn't miss by much getting out of here, but SOTO got right up against the wall. It's like he's going to be all right and obviously came up here playing in the stadium. So knows exactly how much room he had before that scoreboard makes the leap just off the heel of his glove. Here comes Matt Blake, the pitching coach, the nationals, two homers and a booming double here have ambushed the reigning Cy Young winner. They have hit some shots in this inning off Garrett Cole. There's a ton of action going on this inning. It has been totally unfazed just pecking away. Check swing grounder to first leme will go to the bag two down as Gallo advances to third. So two down runner at third and that'll bring in CJ Abrams pitch to Abrams is lined into center field judge barely. Oh, he lost it, he lost it now, he recovers and makes the catch. Oh, he lost it in the twilight and had to struggle but regained control and made the catch Garrett Cole as we start the bottom of the fifth innings pitch swing and a miss, he got him with the knuckle curve and not a lot of swings and misses for Garrett Cole tonight with the knuckle curve. Chaparro strikes out to retire the side. They leave Garcia. We go to the sixth. Well, this is a huge inning three top of the order. Corbin will see at least SOTO and judge after torres, Patrick Corbin has rolled against the Yankees. Oh my goodness. Look at that breaking ball diving down and in on the right hander and for Patrick Corbin number six, there's Juan Soto swing a dribble out in front of the plate. It's a fair ball. It's picked up by Ruiz on the infield grass. He'll throw to first in time to retire. Soto, the judge had the double to right in the first inning and Then struck out in the fourth and he went back to the cutter and missed down and inside for ball. Four little things in this game. It's a game of inches. So judge walks, see if Giancarlo can make him pay for it. The crowd is anticipating the pitching changes. Many are coming to the feet, the bullpen door is open. Dave is talking things over with Corbin. Normally he would have taken the ball by now and he's not taking the ball. Corbyn's staying in. Wow. Listen to the crowd swinging a pop up on the infield should end the inning. Abrams moving in and under on the infield dirt and he will make the catch. Patrick Corbin has pitched six shutout innings here tonight against the New York Yankees. Dave Martinez lets him finish the inning and he does, here's Dylan Cruz first big league hit earlier Cruz a temper. That's fair. Trevino and the ball gets away. Cruz ejects his helmet hits for second, the hit on the little temper. So Cruz his first big league multi hit game, he is at second for Joey Gallo. It's a ball low. The throw, the tag by Chisholm is not in time. Cruz avoiding the tag for his first big league stolen base. How did he avoid the tag from Jazz Chesham? Oh, they had him by a couple of steps, a ball to first. It's off the glove of LeMahieu Cruz breaks for the plate. Leah can't pick it up and Gallos safe and Cruz scores nationals lead four to nothing. Very sloppy here this inning, defensively, three straight defensive blunders. Here's Verdugo big spot in the game yanks down 40 with a chance here to carve away at that lead left side. Abrams, tough angle. What a double play. What a double play by the Nets play with it. Sparkling play by Washington in the infield he stops at second torres with his first hit of the night. And all of a sudden here the yanks have two on with nobody out. Here comes the meat of the order and SOTO and judge behind him, soto rolls it slowly to second. They'll go to second. Everybody's safe. This is going to be an error on what should have been a routine force out at second base, but garcia Junior, his toss to Abrams took Abrams off the bag and now the bases are loaded with nobody out. And number 99 is coming to the plate bases loaded. Nobody out. Yankees trail four nothing. Judge hits it hard right to short. Could be two and is what a turn of events, a 643 double play as the Yankees play one run, but the Nats will gladly give up that run to get judge into a 643 and that's exactly what happened. And here comes Giancarlo Stanton to Short Abrams and in this series, Soto Judge and Stanton are three for 24 against the Nets pitching staff. The Yankees will send a Chisholm Volpe wells to face Finnegan in the ninth trailing 41. Chisholm laces that into right center field. That's how you start the ninth. If you're the Yankees Chisholm in his second with a leadoff double, here's Anthony Volpi grounded to short Chisholm will score. Volpi is out on a poor throw dug up by Gallo Volpe upset with himself, it's a 4 to 2 game and again, the Yankees have the tying run aboard with one out and that will bring up foul off first down the right field line here comes Dylan Cruz in the fouling, makes the catch for the out two away with the tying runs on base two out in the ninth. So the Yankees are down to their final out, you know, Finnegan wants to try and get it done here because Juan Soto lurks on deck in the air to right Dylan Cruz on his career. Juan Soto doesn't get the chance to come to the plate as the nationals hang on to a 42 win. Well, the Yankees a little sloppy game defensively, not a whole lot of offense early on against a lefty Corbin.
